Good luck to everyone having scans today - my advice for non-wriggling is don't have any tea or coffee beforehand. I had a coffee before my 12-week and she was doing somersaults, but at 20 weeks she was quite well behaved. Although in the last week (22 weeks on Sunday) she's been kicking the shit out of me to make up for it! Also having a good go at punching my cervix although not yet strong enough to cause real pain. She is definitely taking after her sister.
2boys - we did find out this time but not last time. Haven't regretted it at all, in fact we're so thrilled to be having another girl and it's been lovely for DD to talk about 'my sister' - makes it more real for all of us. We've been really struggling with names for a second girl, too, so it's good that we have plenty of time to decide!
There's one girl's name I suggested but had started to go off a bit (but DH really likes), and I mentioned it to DD the other day, and it sounded so pretty when she said it (and she really loves it) that it made me feel all enthusiastic about it again. So there have been big advantages in finding out, including, also, feeling more settled about staying in our 2-bed flat with small second bedroom, which we love, but would have been much less practical with a girl and boy.
On the subject of clothes, DD was 8lb 4 and 0-3 months would have swamped her at first. She was in newborn for 6 weeks at least.
Hope those of you with pain are finding ways to lessen it. Sometimes it's just position and that can change, if it's any comfort. I am SO much more comfortable now she's moved up a bit in the last week. A month ago I was walking like I was 8 months gone, really stiff lower back, horrible heavy feeling of bearing down - I honestly thought I was heading for some kind of prolapse
. Now feeling really comfortable, much lighter and easier to walk too. So things can change quite a bit at this point.
