MrsD this isn't very scientific, but I think its highly unlikey the baby would be so very active if there was a heart blockage. It be very sluggish, surely? I suspect the sonographer made a mountain out of a greyish blur.

That said, I would also be going mad at how laissez faire your medical team are.

Petal26 · 18/06/2014 22:05

Hope the midwife calls you back MrsD, sounds frustrating :-(

Ellie and Lady you have made me laugh today, I can relate! Exactly why I can't wait until Monday, and hope that baby cooperates, I want to know the gender to get organised! I have got all of DD's clothes in the attic but need to know if I need to buy some sleepsuits that are not pink!
Love that you have bought clothes and don't know the gender yet, I do love sale shopping and did buy DD an age 4-5 winter coat from M & S the other day (bit far in advance considering she is only 2.5 and still wearing a lot of 18-24 month clothes. DH did say she would be about 7 by the time she gets into it!) It's a gorgeous blue quilted coat with small white spots, couldn't resist!

Feeling mahoosive today, big bump and really big heavy boobs.
Seem to have kicked the sickness, none since last Wednesday, woop! Aware now that I am feeling better need to stop with all the cakes and chocolate, can't keep up this diet for another 20 weeks, will be huge!

Sending good luck out to everyone who has a scan tomorrow, hope they all go well :-)

Venus2 · 18/06/2014 22:30

I'm also getting leg cramps/ restless legs like some of you mentioned. Have been since about week 8. The joys of pregnancy. Also getting reflux for an while after breakfast but luckily not feeling sick. Is anyone still getting sick?
I'm thoroughly enjoying reading all of the stories about accumulating baby clothes. They are so cute and so tempting but a little difficult to secretly purchase stuff when you have shared bank accounts with your DP.
Tigsy, is the 20 week consultation for something specific? I have quite a gap now till my next MW appt.
Amazing that we are all around half way now. Time seems to be flying by (unlike waiting for the 12 week scan. That took ages). Good luck to everyone having scans this week. I hope all the bubs are looking healthy and look forward to sharing the excitement with those who are finding out the sex at this stage.

Polkadotscarf · 19/06/2014 07:33

Only being sick two/three times a week now which is amazing compared to what it was! I think it is wearing off now :-)
Friends at work have scared me into being organised for baby so went a little crazy on the mamas and papas website as they have a good sale on at the moment so at least I can say I have got some bits now! All boring things though like a steriliser and breast pads! Am planning the exciting shopping for the summer holidays!
20+2

Alita7 · 19/06/2014 07:38

Venus also having reflux problems only at night though.

Scan soon eeee :D

Good luck to anyone else with a scan today!

I'm still puking every day. Yesterday I threw up everything I are. It's just urgh.

But have our scan today so that is something good to look forward to I hope.

weeonion · 19/06/2014 09:12

Good morning all Grin!

Big scan day on the thread - how are all the scanees feeling? Cant wait to hear the news from you all later Smile

Loving hearing all the stories of folks having bought / accumulated - especially stuff that is too big / possibly of different gender!

I am having major breakdown about just exactly where this baby is going to fit in our flat. We already are bursting at the seams and now will lose our spare room / study/ craft/ general dumping room for a nursery. If anyone is particularily excelllent at working out how all that stuff can be spread around / assimilated into a tiny flat - please let me know Grin
DP is wonderful in so so many ways but planning isnt his forte. he just shrugs and says - "you will find a way."

I have only bought some vests and baby gros. we have monitors, room thermometers, breastpumps, sterlisiers, bottles (never used!), baby hammock, cot / cot bed, changing mats from last time. Going to see a pal on sunday who has alot of our other stuff and is also giving us a load of stuff too, including buggies. Just need to buy a tummy tub as SIL gave away sold our one. starting to panic at hearing what all you lot are buying so may need to head shopping........

ladydolly · 19/06/2014 09:15

Can I have a little moan?

Scan today which should be exciting but instead I'm nervous. Morning sickness seems to have returned, I've felt sick every morning this week, all day yesterday and it seems to be continuing today. I'm in SUCH a bad mood, everyone at work is annoying me. Trying to remain reasonable knowing it's not them its me an my bad mood.

I don't know what I want to achieve by moaning but there you go, it feels better getting it out.

Sad face. :(

Alita7 · 19/06/2014 09:17

Aw lady good luck!

I'm starting to feel nervous too!

Fingers crossed and good luck for all of us having scans today!

I've downloaded a kick counting app, trying to work out when she's asleep and awake and what her routine is at the moment. I have this theory that towards the end if I could modify my routine I could make her more likely to sleep more at night when she's born. DD would be wide awake in the morning, asleep all afternoon then awake at night. It was a nightmare because all the cousins who just HAD to visit despite not seeing them for 3 years just had to come in the afternoons, the only time I could catch up on sleep, food and chores and honestly it made me so miserable. This time I'm blatantly telling them to bugger off and just not opening the door. They don't bother for years but put a baby on the scene and they all suddenly come flocking! So fake. Hmm I sent out the birth announcement (all prepared in advance!) within about an hour of the birth and I very clearly said in it that we would appreciate it is visitors held off for a couple of weeks while we settled in, I healed from the c-section and exDH made the most of his limited paternity leave (yeah right Hmm) and did they listen?? Did they heck. This time I'm not even sending an announcement so hopefully they won't even know for a few weeks by the time word gets round!

weeonion · 19/06/2014 09:39

ladydolly - we all need a moan every now and then Smile

wow mrsd - be interested in hearing more about modify routines before birth to see impact afterwards!

We planned on havng a 2 week babymoon with DD which friends and family respected. Only problem wa s- we spent most of that time with breastfeeding specialists trying to get feeding sorted so not quite the blissed bonding we imagined!

Mrs D - do you ave lots of family / cousins close by?

MrsDowneyJunior · 19/06/2014 09:58

weeonion not so much now, ex got them in the divorce and frankly he's welcome to them, I've not missed any! I have a small circle of people I actually like now rather than hundreds I barely know, don't like but are obliged by blood to be nice to. Grin Grin

WinterLover · 19/06/2014 10:12

Morning everyone, Hope your all keeping well.

First week of no work for me and its been lovely Grin

I have my 20 wk scan tomoro, im very nervous about it.

TwigletFiend · 19/06/2014 10:15

Morning everyone. Good luck to all the scan-havers today, I am very envious as mine is not for another week! Hope everyone gets to see happy, healthy, wriggly babies Smile.

MrsD, sorry things are pants for you. I hope you manage to get in to see your consultant now you've had a moan to your MW - I'd like to think she'd be on your side, as it's her job to offer you support and reassurance! Fingers crossed for you.

lady, sorry you feel crappy again. Hope the scan lifts your spirits Smile

Venus, I'm the same as Alita: reflux at night as soon as I lie down. Bleh.

I need a moan too, I'm afraid! I've been a lot better sick-wise, but we had a crisis at work yesterday so I volunteered to do the deliveries, which meant driving a long wheelbase van into the centres of Bristol, Stroud and Gloucester. But it was unbearably hot and the AC in the van is crocked, which meant even with the fans on the air blowing in was tepid rather than cold. I sound like a wimp, but I'm only used to driving a short wheelbase van so I had to concentrate quite hard and, obviously, it belongs to the company so I was quite stressed about taking it down all the narrow roads with cars parked both sides etc. Basically, by the end of the day I had a hideous headache and felt so sick it felt like every time I breathed out I was going to vomit. I then had to do another hour at the office doing my normal job, which involves looking at a screen. To cut my whinge short, by the time I finished work, went and exercised my horse and got home, I felt appalling. DP then announces he's going out to a biker meet down the road, which means he isn't going to 1. get the washing in 2. change the dishwasher over 3. cook tea, all of which needs doing. I opened the dishwasher, got hit by the steam and promptly spent the next 2 hours slumped in the toilet puking. Finally decided 'fuck it all' and went to bed at 8.30.

Ok, that was a long moan. Sorry everyone! I am in a much better mood this morning, so that should be the last of the whinges for a while. I managed to ride my horse for the first time in days rather than just run him around the arena and despite still feeling sick, I've managed to keep my decaf tea and a banana down so at least I feel a lot more energetic today.

RE buying stuff, I have so far purchased an eBay bundle of newborn vests - someone told me that they tend to grow out of these very quickly, could those with DCs already confirm this please? I'm hoping the 7 I've now bought (for £2.99, bargain!) will be enough to last me into through to the 0-3 months range. Is this unrealistic?! Apart from that, I have bought precisely nothing. Whoops!

ladydolly · 19/06/2014 11:54

Oh twiglet, I feel your pain 'fuck it and to bed' is the only way to handle a day.

I've not bought any baby clothes, sis gave me a load of white snowsuits (baby will look like a mini East 17 member) and mum has bought a Guns and Roses babygro. Not so practical but fun at least!

4 hours til scan and counting...

MrsDowneyJunior · 19/06/2014 11:58

They do grow out of bodysuits quickly but you can get extension thingies which were great with DD and her long body!

bunnykitten · 19/06/2014 12:05

Two hours until my scan and I should be excited but instead I'm really nervous.

Plus I've picked up a stomach bug and have had the runs for the past two days, and I can't take any medication for it! Grggghhh!

Sorry - moan over!

We have bought very little so far. Parts of our house are being ripped out and replaced, so once everything is back to normal we'll have space for everything (hopefully).

Alita7 · 19/06/2014 12:24

Had a brilliant scan, baby is healthy and wriggling :)

We have a BOY!

(So we were completely wrong as we're most of the theories and old wives tales!)

Congrats Alita!! Welcome in team blue Smile

Kantha · 19/06/2014 13:06

Great news Alita.

Weeonion. Re: space for the baby. I can't claim to be minimalist myself, so it's with some irony that I suggest this blog. The specific link is a guide on what babies actually need, but other posts on the site are interesting too.

minimalistmom

I have my scan today too. Not till 4pm (or whatever time they are running to by the end of the afternoon). I am also feeling anxious. We aren't finding out the sex. Just hope it's healthy Blush

Haven't posted much this week as it has been DS1's birthday. I am currently up to my elbows in party preparations. A friend just wished me luck for this afternoon (for the scan), and I thought she was referring to my ongoing cake construction efforts.GrinBlush

Oklahoma · 19/06/2014 13:55

Scan was good, no issues so very relieved!!

Now just need some bubbly to celebrate - oh wait...

Alita7 · 19/06/2014 13:58

Good to hear Oklahoma! did you decide to have a surprise?

OP posts:
TwigletFiend · 19/06/2014 14:09

Good news on scans so far - keep them coming! And congratulations on your son, Alita Smile

Venus, oh my goodness, the cramps! I've been having them for a few weeks now - middle of the night, half awake, stretch my legs out and BAM! Mega cramp in my calf! It always seems to happen when I'm lying on my back. Maybe I'm squishing a blood vessel? It wakes you up a bit flipping sharpish, that's for sure!

weeonion · 19/06/2014 14:24

yeaaaaaaaaaaaah alita Grin
glad all is well!

Oklahoma - so pleased for you too. x

blamber - you're on teh countdown..... Grin

For cramps - havent had that pleasure as yet but i remember last time chanking down tonic water (minus the gin sadly...) as apparently the quinine helps with cramps.......

mismylinford · 19/06/2014 14:28

wonderful scan news everyone

twig i would recommend more then 7! unless u plan to do alot of washing. my dd could go through 7 in a day from various things from spitting up and leaking nappies etc etc. maybe i just had messy baby but deffo more clothes you'll also find some 0-3 are too big/to small etc etc so also suggest not just one shop etc asda are huge sizes next tu ms small and ff middle. i wouldn't spend much on them unless a.special occasion or over 1.
