I've had bleeding gums with both. I find Oil Pulling has really helped this time though.

Alita7 · 17/06/2014 23:29

Also got bleeding gums... I'm not registered with a dentist here so I need to do that but it's just hassle :p

Relieved to hear that I'm not the only one but can we stop it? What's oil pulling?

Alita7 · 18/06/2014 07:33

I've for oraldene mouthwash which is helping but it's not got rid of it yet.

Venus I'm with you on the bleeding gums, in fact, I seem to have a variety of incredibly annoying pregnancy symptoms. The most irritating one at the moment is a constantly congested feeling nose. Nothing works for it and there isn't anything there so blowing my nose constantly does nothing. It's a horrible feeling as when I'm trying to sleep I feel like I can't breathe properly.

I get the bleeding gums but not when I clean my teeth necessarily. Just randomly. I was away for an important work meeting yesterday when they just randomly started bleeding! I must look like a vampire.....

20 weeks for me tomorrow! Scan on Friday... getting a bit nervous. Got a consultant appointment in the morning as well- shame they weren't the other way round as it would have been better to have the scan first before seeing the consultant!

weeonion · 18/06/2014 09:57

good morning folks.

positive thoughts to anyone who has appts and scans etc today. I think tomorrow is the busier day for eh 20 week scans and some of Friday?

When is the last 20 week scan happening? - i think there are some well into July so sympathies to those who are (im)patiently waiting. x

StripeyFox · 18/06/2014 09:58

Mrs Downey - thinking of you today, hope all goes well and you get some reassurance.

Alita - sorry you're having a tough time with your mum, she sounds like hard work

Weeonion - Yes, I met her yesterday and she was lovely. I must start researching pools when I get a chance. Although I may borrow rather than buy/rent. What are your plans for getting a pool?

Annarose - to be honest I don't think I'd find it any easier doing just day shifts - it's more the length of shift that I find a struggle than nights (plus getting out of bed at 5.3am for days kills). I'll see how things go though as the weeks progress. Good luck with your shifts too, when do you plan on taking mat leave?

I made my first baby purchase this week! (a sling that I fell in love with). I'm not sure why, but I've been quite reluctant to buy baby stuff. It's not superstition, but I'm worried that if I have things all ready it'll make me more impatient for the baby to arrive. I'm also looking forward to properly being able to focus on it once I'm on mat leave. Must be careful not to leave too much to be done in the last few months though!

Amyrose82 · 18/06/2014 09:59

Good luck today MrsDJ - got everything crossed for you and bubba! X

blamber · 18/06/2014 10:10

My scan is in the first week of July.

No bleeding gums, but I've been getting cramp in my feet and legs. Very annoying as it wakes me up during the night. I have to stop myself from stretching my legs in bed as this brings it on. Also feeling sorry for myself with my cold an sore throat and not being able to use any of the sprays that unblock my nose and numb my throat. I'm not sleeping well and just want a little nap at work...

Good luck mrsd.

blamber · 18/06/2014 10:11

Stripey what sling did you get?

bunnykitten · 18/06/2014 10:20

My scan is tomorrow at 2pm.

Good luck with the consultant MrsDJ x

StripeyFox · 18/06/2014 10:21

I got a connecta integra with anchors pattern. I know it's probably silly buying it without trying it (not possible with no baby yet!), but they seem to have good resale value if I don't get on with it. I'm planning on getting a stretchy wrap for the newborn stage too. I can see myself getting a bit carried away with this actually (excuse the pun).

ToniWol · 18/06/2014 10:31

Good luck for today's scanee's.

I don't think we've bought anything yet - our parents have though (1st grandchild for both so all v. excited).

I had a foot cramp last night - I've had them in my legs before but never in a foot. It felt like my toes were all out of place. DH gave it a rub though and it had gone by this morning.

MrsDowneyJunior · 18/06/2014 11:25

Thanks all. Got a few hundred questions so hopefully will get some answers this afternoon. Smile

booksshoescats · 18/06/2014 11:33

weeonion That sounds fantastic - she'll be really well prepared. I think it would be a good idea for us to start being a bit more 'nitty-gritty' with DD (in a gentle way, obvs!) - see how she responds and take it from there.

Alita That's such a good idea - kind of obvious but it didn't occur to me, so thank you for that. There are several people who could fulfil that role, so definitely something worth thinking about.

ToniWol I keep waking myself up doing this weird stretching thing with my left leg - I'm not sure if the cramp is making me do it or if it's causing the cramp but it's bloody painful. I get the foot thing too, sometimes, but I had that before I was pg - it does feel really weird, like your toes are dislocating.

amylou85 · 18/06/2014 11:35

Good luck today MrsDJ, Hope all goes ok xx

My scan isn't until 9th July so 3 weeks today. (In fact this time in 3 weeks I shall probably be in the room finding out as it is at 11!! EEEEE!!!!!)

I spoke to my DP last night about buying things after the 20 week scan, which he had originally agreed to. He swears down he never agreed to start buying at that point, just to start window shopping and making lists. When I asked him what the problem with buying was, he said 'what's the point?? We don't need any of it for another 4 months! It will just sit there!!!' He can really shut down on an argument when he doesn't agree. I asked him if he understood woman at all, as we need to buy something every 3-4 weeks in general whether we are pregnant or not, and that I fully intend to buy at least one thing every month until the big day arrives. He huffed and turned over to go to sleep. MEN!!! THEY DO MY HEAD IN.

booksshoescats · 18/06/2014 11:37

Oh yes, and scan went fine this morning. Placenta a bit low-lying but I gather than normally sorts itself out.

Has anyone else been offered transvaginal scan at 22-24 week to check cervix to see if at risk of early delivery? I'm taking everything I'm offered so will have that in three weeks' time. He also suggested an additional scan to check position of placenta, and as I'm already booked in for wellbeing scan at FMC at 34 weeks that's covered.

She'll be the most scanned baby ever - I've already had 6!

MrsDowneyJunior · 18/06/2014 11:42

amy I think you need to explain to him that towards the end you will be huge and knackered and the last thing you'll want to do is traipse round the shops testing prams and car seats. I am already getting too slow and tired and in pain to do any of that and last time I was in hospital every other day for the last 2 months. I now have everything including clothes and am starting to panic that my cousin hasn't posted my old breast pump back to me, I still have 19 weeks to go! Grin

booksshoescats · 18/06/2014 12:01

amylou lol at 'I asked him if he understood women at all'. But yes, agree with MrsDowneyJunior - it's so much more practical to get stuff together now.

ladydolly · 18/06/2014 12:55

I've already got the pram, 2 slings, breast pump and a few toiletries. I'm a planner by nature though so I like to sort these things early. In fact on Saturday I had an absolute melt down that I hadn't got enough prep done already, luckily DP was out so wasn't on the receiving end.

I really don't want to have to worry about it all when I get knackered in the 3rd trimester so I'm aiming to have everything done by September, just as work will ramp up as well. I spend every spare minute trawling the web for 2nd hand bargains!

Elliekins · 18/06/2014 13:55

I'm a control freak planner, I have usually packed for a holiday 6 weeks before so this is even worse, I have been shopping and organising since the week of my BFP!
My other half has no idea about how much stuff I have already accumulated, much of it is hidden!
I confess that I have even bought some girls clothes (almost new at a car boot sale - 10 cute things for about £4!) and I don't even know what the gender is yet!!
I have been offered loads of boys clothes already but keep falling in love with little dresses, in fact I bought a sundress aged 18-24 months the other day, which might be slightly deranged behaviour.
I am definitely keener on the idea of a little girl, a boy will be wonderful too but that will take a bit more getting used to!
I've mainly nannied for little girls and just can't quite imagine having a boy.

My mum has ordered the cot already and we have been given a cot bed mattress which is taking up half our bedroom.
Annoyingly we have a friend of our renting what will be the baby's room and she is now staying until August. It is driving me crazy as I am desperate to start painting already but the money she is paying is going to help massively with my maternity leave so I can't complain much.
I've got some bargains off Gumtree, a gorgeous Jellycat Zebra playmat and some vintage hand-embroidered pillowcases and cot sheets and have been buying the odd book every time I pass a charity shop.
Having nannied for so many (wealthy) people I know exactly of what I want, I just don't have the budget for it all new so am scouring online for lovely things and wasting time on Pinterest admiring fancy nurseries.
I've even been making bits for the baby; have found some cute needle craft things on Etsy and have been inspired to plagiarise stitch cute embroidered felt bunnies to turn into a cushion!
etsy.me/1rwRhlz
I've actually bought an embroidery hoop for god sake, this is what happens when I'm not allowed wine!
I have to keep busy with baby stuff or I'll just implode with impatience!

ladydolly · 18/06/2014 14:01

Ellekins you're my planning sister. I've also got a back of girl clothes that I had from before I was even pregnant - in my defence a friend asked for 2nd hand gifts and I got a MASSIVE bag of clothes from freecycle....I just kept the ones I preferred... ok I am mad.

My pinterest board is a work of art!

amy83firsttimer · 18/06/2014 14:02

We have most of the first lot of basic clothes, a couple of bigger things (dungarees to be specific), car seat, blanket, grobag, muslins, two handmedown moses baskets (upstairs /downstairs) being stored at their old houses. We're not having to buy a pram as getting handmedown from SIL and the rest we'll get once it arrives apart from all the secret eBay bits
