Hello ladies. Joining the thread a little late... expecting DC2 25th Dec (by my calculations, scan may say otherwise). Booking appointment this afternoon. Anyone else find they are ridiculously nervous second time around? I didn't worry about anything during my first pregnancy but I think now that I know how precious and wonderful my DD is I just cant relax with this one! I blame the hormones.... Emotional wreck!!!

CatFaceCrayola · 03/06/2014 09:43

Stupid heartburn keeping me awake!

Just been browsing stats. Are there any Lancashire folk out there? Closest I can see is minion in Manchester.

Also sasseh I love your potential name choices! If mine is a girl I'll be stuck for choice (already have a long list) but I currently can't think of a single boys name!

PunkyPod · 03/06/2014 10:00

Hello to all the new joiners!

Can i just say.....constipation is horrid Angry

Good luck for today's scans!

14+2

MrsBurt · 03/06/2014 10:02

CatFaceCrayola, I feel exactly the same re names! I could happily name ten girls but would struggle with naming one boy.

PolytheneGirl · 03/06/2014 10:23

Hi MrsBurt and congrats. I'm expecting DC2 too and am much more nervous this time round. I think it is because I know so much more. I remember last time being so excited about the scan and this time I just feel terrified. Maybe it's because we now know exactly how much we'll love the baby because we've done it before and have those mother-baby feelings. I don't know but I'm bricking it!!

StetsonsAreCool · 03/06/2014 10:48

Hi all,

Thread 4??? I can't keep up! Grin

I'm meant to be revising this morning, have got exams today and tomorrow, but I just can't find the brain power! So distracted by nausea, and the fact I've got my scan on Monday! It can't come quick enough.

I'm feeling more nervous this time too. I think, like Poly, it's because I know so much more. I'm more aware of the risks, I've seen so many more things go wrong with other people's pregnancies than by this point with DD - which was blissful ignorance by comparison! Wish I could have that feeling again.

I suppose I should take comfort in feeling rough, as it must mean that the hormones are still being produced. But I'm more scared than I like to admit that the scan will show something wrong.

Good luck for today's scans!

mopsytop · 03/06/2014 11:04

I felt just as anxious the first time around to be honest. I spend a lot of time worrying. REALLY need to chill. But I'm way better since scan was fine!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 03/06/2014 11:10

I've got bloody stretch marks already! I wasn't expecting any at all considering how bloody fat I already am!

Missjasper · 03/06/2014 11:26

No I was super nervous with 1st pregnancy and I'm way more relaxed with this one! Too many other distractions maybe?

Somersetgirl1990 · 03/06/2014 12:38

Awww polythenegirl that's so cute!!
Is anyone using anything to prevent/lessen stretch marks? Does anything actually work? Was thinking of getting some bio oil off of amazon but don't want to waste lots of money if it doesn't do anything!

PolytheneGirl · 03/06/2014 12:41

tTanks Somersetgirl. I used cocoa butter last time and didn't get stretch marks but I get the feeling I'm going to be much bigger this time so was thinking of getting bio oil as I read so somewhere it's the best thing.

mopsytop · 03/06/2014 12:46

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but bio oil did not prevent my getting stretch marks last time. But who knows, might have been worse without it!

CatFaceCrayola · 03/06/2014 13:35

Feeling ragey!

My initial sore itchy burning chest rash has returned.(the one that started over 2 weeks ago and spread and the meds I was prescribed made my face swell up) My GPs appear to be closed today.

and I'm having a tantrum because the ukulele I ordered to cheer myself up has arrived but is broken.

grump grump grump

Oddly I've jumped dates - I know this has happened to some other ladies. Officially I'm now due on December 10th instead of the 17th. Happy to be moving away from Christmas although I think Ive not move dates, I'm just going to have a hulk of a baby (I'm 6 foot and my husband is closer to 7)

stripeymonster · 03/06/2014 14:11

Congratulations lovely scan pics, ffallada. My date got moved a week closer too - i'm sure it can't be right tho. Seems no point in arguing!

espa · 03/06/2014 14:18

I almost hope I keep my Christmas eve date - not that I really want a Christmas baby but it sounds a nice date!

Martie1 · 03/06/2014 14:55

Hi all, wow this thread moves ridiculously fast.

I am much better after the weekend. Peace I have been making use of the bio oil for a week or so now. Please let it work. Also saw this tub thing on bloom and blossom and think i might order it, though I have to say I am crap with products generally, i am definitely just a shampoo conditioner and slap of make up type girl. I spend a small fortune on products that get cast aside a few weeks later because i forget about them. Hopefully I will sustain this!

Had another wee scan this morning and whatever random thing failed twin/fluid that was there on Friday has disappeared and I am relieved as I was kind of panicking that something would effect my wee precious bub. Got a great pic of baby's face where you can clearly see it's wee lips, nose and eyes. I am smitten.

The consultant told me a edd of 7 dec, then put 8th dec down on the notes, but when i look at the pic, it has an edd of 3 dec. I should say I am definitely 13+1 weeks, I know because we were trying and I was working out my ovulation. But the pic today says 13+6. Anybody have any good explanations for all these changes? I am worrying that my baby just has a huge head because it runs in my family lol! (me included Blush)

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 03/06/2014 16:24

I've got some Aldi bio oil which I will dig out and slather myself in. I've never had a bikini body so I'm not terribly bothered by scars and stretch marks anyway, but didn't expect to have them already!
My day in London was fine, although the tube was hot and I felt a bit faint and sick at times. Day off tomorrow and then midwife appointment on Thursday! Squee!

LissieD · 03/06/2014 16:35

Added myself to the stats page. Nice scan pics :-)

Pepsiaddict · 03/06/2014 16:57

Oh am envious of those having Scottish babies - my parents live just through the tunnel from the Southern General. I was born in the Vale of Leven Hospital but don't think the mat unit exists any more. Our wee one will be half Scottish, quarter Irish and a quarter English.
Used bio oil and sanctuary mama to be cream last time and avoided stretch marks but think it's genetic unfortunately.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 03/06/2014 17:51

Scan was fine. Baby very wiggly and waved. Due date is now December 8th...

Happy that everything is good. Not so happy with the traffic I am sitting in to get home!
