Hello, sorry about this tmi

I have cramps and diahorrea everytime I eat, even small amounts of plain food. Gp said to drink water.

Pin has got worse. Also blood and mucus. Can I take anything ?

oohdaddypig · 04/06/2014 20:57

Oh glowworm poor you. What did GP say you could take? I think all you can have is rehydration salts.... Can you phone triage for advice?

PunkyPod · 04/06/2014 21:05

Thanks daddypig. Really appreciate your story. I will definitely have the antibiotics, no way I'd put the baby at any risk. So is it something that can come and go? I don't know if I was tested with DD but this is the first I've heard of it. Having done some reading I'm shocked it's not a routine test.

Oh and piles....I got them at the end of my first pregnancy. Then DD's birth basically ripped my bum to shreds. I've never completely recovered!!! Confused

Pepsiaddict · 04/06/2014 21:46

Congrats on the scan monkey! Peace, hope that the midwife is nice. I noticed in my info pack that the midwives in this area run a non-judgemental support group for ladies with higher bmi's to help manage weight gain during pregnancy and the comments from previous participants were really positive. I met the midwife who runs it in my last pregnancy - she's a larger lady herself, also a mum and incredibly fit and active.

Noticed bio oil 200mL is bogof in Boots at the moment.

I managed to find the little beans heartbeat with the Doppler tonight which was very exciting!
10+3 today and counting down until the nausea subsides.

oohdaddypig · 04/06/2014 22:12

punky my arse is ripped to shreds too. Maybe there is a link to the godforsaken piles:)

Yes, the Group B strep definitely comes and goes. I didn't have it with my first. I am going to test again about 35 weeks this pregnancy. Think I will be offered the antibiotics routinely though. Online there are lots of people who test positive then spend a couple of weeks doing crazy things like putting garlic up their fanjos. Have to confess I didn't try that Grin

I'd be interested to know why your midwife tested you for it, only because the NHS is stubbornly resistant to the campaigns to test for it.

pepsi amazing you got the heartbeat so soon with your Doppler

LisaC2611 · 04/06/2014 22:13

Peace, try not to worry about your weight. Easier said than done I know but do try. I really thought I was in for a telling off when I saw the midwife at booking in but she couldn't have been nicer to me about my weight. Hopefully your mw will be just as lovely.

Had our scan today and our baby is a little monkey. He would not lie in the correct position for the sonographer to do the NT scan. They had me jumping up and down, doing squats and juggling my bum in the air on the bed to try and turn him but he was having none of it. They then sent us for a walk and called us back in a bit later, he had moved but was still not in the right place. They ended up not doing the nt scan so I've now got to have the quadruple blood test next week, and then wait either a few days for a phone call or a couple of weeks for the letter to say we are low risk.

Out scan pics are rubbish so won't share them but have got my 20 week scan booked on 22 July and hopefully will get a decent picture then.

Bettycakes80 · 04/06/2014 22:16

Hopefully this bit of celeb gossip will prove a nice distraction. Kourtney Kardashian expecting her 3rd baby in December. We have a celebrity due date buddy!

LisaC2611 · 04/06/2014 22:17

Meant to say that they also pushed my date forward by 9 days so I'm now due on 6 December and I'm 13+4 today. Seems a big jump to me from 12+2. Has anyone else's dates jumped that much?

littlepickly · 04/06/2014 22:24

Thank you to daddypig and punkypod for sharing your bum ripping stories - I honestly thought I was alone in how much I destroyed mine with giving birth to DD - has never been the same since and am worried it may fall out entirely in next labour Shock

Sorry tmi!!

ffallada · 04/06/2014 23:04

lisa you and I are in the same boat - my little rascle would not lie in the right position for the NT scan so I'm to have a blood test at my next midwife appointment. as I jumped from 12 weeks to 12+6 my 16 week midwife appointment will really be a 17 week appointment.
So far I think you might be winning the 'jump in dates' competition Wine

Ahh beautiful scan pics today ladies- really lovely to see them all!

For those taking about strep, I got the blood test at my booking appt as well - just as one of the standard NHS tests. They've not called me with any results from the blood tests yet, they said they'd only call if there was a problem, but I might ring just to be sure it's all clear!

Sleep well everyone!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 05/06/2014 05:18

Morning all!

Last two mornings I have woken up at half four so hungry I'm feelinh sick and retching until I get toast in me! Hence sitting up in bed eating peanut butter on toast at ten past five!

Morning sickness has gone except when I am hungry then I'm gagging till I eat.

Tiredness still v much here. As is backache and constipation. Had a good long chat to my friend yesterday who has just had her second baby but first VB and she warned me to invest in some lactulose as that first poo post birth esp if you have stitches is evil as the constipation doesn't go away.... I have considered myself warned!

Grin
oohdaddypig · 05/06/2014 05:59

Oh big absolutely. I had a third degree tear first time and first poo was worse than giving birth Hmm. Lactulose was a god send. Nobody warns you of this stuff!!

I seem to have lowered the tone of this thread significantly - sorry!!

My understanding is the group b strep should be tested by a swab - not blood test - in late pregnancy. Because it comes and goes, the Group B strep charity suggests 35 - 37 weeks. I don't understand why some areas of the NHS are doing a blood test at 8 weeks - this makes no sense to me and must surely lead to lots of false tests??? Anyway, both times, I have used the testing service from the Group b strep charity - it's about £35 and you do it all at home (mmm home swab, lovely) and post it.

My midwife made it clear she was against me doing it and thought it unnecessary (I'm in scotland - it's not routinely checked). But a friend of a friend sadly lost her baby to it, which is very rare, and I wanted to know and decide myself!

Hope this helps anyone/someone!

littlepickly happy to cheer you up with arse stories. I am asking if I need a section this time in case poor arse never recovers.....

Loving the beautiful scan pics!!!!!

littlepickly · 05/06/2014 07:25

Daddypig I don't mind a bit a tone lowering Grin

espa · 05/06/2014 08:08

Staying in hotel in London so struggling this burning to get showered and dressed before getting my breakfast. Tucking into a bowl of cornflakes now though :)

Bettycakes80 · 05/06/2014 08:24

Anyone know when you should sign up for NCT classes? Do they get booked up quite quickly, or am I thinking about it too early?

littlepickly · 05/06/2014 08:31

Bettycakes I think you need to book on asap as they normally get booked up quickly Smile

SassehMonsta · 05/06/2014 08:32

Today was going to be my 7th day vomit free - but my body had different ideas. Boo. Now slightly regretting the toast I ate after being sick though - arrgh.

I'll be paying for gbs test if its not offered - a lady on the hg thread had a little girl with a meningitis scare but it was "just" gbs, and its totally worth paying the £35 to get it done privately.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 05/06/2014 08:34

As soon as possible I think. I have decided against them to be fair. its another cost we really dont need. I'll do the free classes etc but theres othrr things I need to pay out for first.

Discovered I have sprouted a hairy belly this morning. was quite proud!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 05/06/2014 08:45

Thank you EVERYONE for being so lovely. I've showed this thread to DH and he's chuffed I've got such lovely support as I only have one or two friends in RL.
Appointment is at 10:15.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 05/06/2014 08:45

Oh 11 weeks today btw Grin

monkeybaby2 · 05/06/2014 08:57

Much of what you learn in NCT is common sense tbh but the real benefit is meeting other ladies close by who become your local support network. My group was brilliant, we saw each other every week through mat leave and it completely saved me. 2.5 yrs later and we still see each other regularly with and without the monkeys and all the latest additions! It was £200+ for the class but worth every penny to me. It's a lot of money but if you can spare it, do it.

Ooh, and loving the scan pics everybody!

DrewsWife · 05/06/2014 09:16

Morning. im having a shitty time at moment thanks to teen. Swear I could hang her by her ankles. hubby and I had a row. and the cat wont shut up. was thinking about posting about it in aibu but dont want shredded.

im going out for coffee with friends. sporting a nice bump. going to eat a tonne of cake.

PunkyPod · 05/06/2014 09:40

Haha daddypig and Little! Bum stories have made me laugh. I had to go off for surgery after dd was born for repairs. When I was discharged they gave me a bottle of lactulose. I was so friggin scared of going for a poo I waited til day 3. That stuff is absolutely amazing though and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I wasn't ready to go lactulose-free when the bottle finished though so I got through 2 more til I dared to do a normal poo!! Wink

I will be asking about this test they've done and see about one closer to the birth.

Oh a celeb birth on the way. Wonder what they'll call it?
