Sara they don't work properly until later, you can only pick them up for a split second this early and it's hard. It took me ages to find and I have a slightly tender tummy today so I won't be doing it again for a couple of weeks but I'm glad I did it, it's put my mind at ease a little with this bleeding

EnglishGirlsReturned · 05/06/2014 11:52

Camsie! I'm def in that mmc worry boat! Not many symptoms here either! Fx all will be fine!

Saraswati · 05/06/2014 11:55

camsie that must have been incredible to watch. Medicine is just amazing! And I feel paranoid even though I've had a healthy scan and I can't stop being sick. I think however you feel you are going to worry!!

linda glad you got to hear it and you feel better! I think I'd go crazy if I had one of those things!

LulusMiniEgg · 05/06/2014 11:57

I have the mmc fear too! Only been feeling hungover, no proper ms (although my mum told me last night she was exactly the same and we should be grateful -which I am) and definitely no sign of a bump. Even though I saw a hb a couple of weeks ago I am still so scared xx

Sara I wouldn't buy my own Doppler, I'd become obsessed, I'll just borrow my friends now and again

ViviPru · 05/06/2014 12:04

That's very reassuring, Madrigals, (albeit sad to hear about your mmc) thanks Thanks

MelMc73 · 05/06/2014 12:05

Wow Chinese! That's some bloaty bump you've got there lol! Poor you.

Just back from booking in appt - an hour and 45 mins! I'm going to be consultant led from 22 weeks onwards due to complications in labour the last time (that and my age!) and to decide if it's to be a section or natural birth. Apparently this means I'll get a couple of growth scans from 28 weeks onwards as well.

It all feels a lot more real now I'm "in the system"! Roll on 14th July for booking scan!!

Not had a chance to read back very far but hope everyone is well. Need to get working now!

Loobyloo893 · 05/06/2014 12:11

So I'm having a bit of a panic at the moment. My lovely DS kicked me in the belly when we were swimming this morning! It didn't hurt but am panicking now. Surely at 7weeks my little bean is snuggled deep inside and it wouldn't have done any harm? Hmm

cheshirem2b · 05/06/2014 12:44

looby I am sure your little bean is snuggled up safe from harm.

I had a bit of a fright yesterday and realised how being pg does make you more vulnerable. I was in consultation with a client who has mental health issues and she went off the rails. She had a support worker and her mum in there but she was throwing herself around the room, arms and legs failing around and all I could do was wait until she had been restrained and then leave them to it... felt vulnerable though in case she accidentally caught my little smudgy and something happened. Never felt vulnerable doing my job before!Blush

2 week today we get our 12 week scan and can finally tell everyone about our exciting news! Cannot wait! keep cooking little beans!

Camsie30 · 05/06/2014 12:44

Thanks Madrigals, sorry to hear that you experienced a mmc, your words are reassuring. I'm having a scan at 10 weeks on 17th June as part of the Harmony test, so just willing the next 2 weeks to fly by! X

ViviPru · 05/06/2014 13:01

My Swiss ball arrived today Grin Now just need to keep the thing hidden from my Mum until next Friday!

Monstamio · 05/06/2014 13:09

Just wanted to jump in to echo Madrigals. With a true MMC your body still thinks you're pregnant, even though the baby has sadly stopped developing, so you get all the symptoms you were having before (if any) and no outward sign that anything's wrong. I had terrible MS and big tummy all the way to 12 weeks even though the baby had died 3 weeks previously.

MN can give you the impression that MMC is quite common - I guess because people who've struggled are often attracted to these forums - but again, as Madrigals said, they're really very rare so in all likelihood everything is fine in there!

I once read some very sage advice on these boards:

Symptoms = normal
No symptoms = normal

9+1, still haven't had my first midwife appointment (postponed due to someone being off sick) I've put on 2lbs due to carb-mania and no vomming. Still extremely tired and having random bouts of nausea. 3 people have asked me if I'm alright as I "don't seem myself". I hope this weird feeling passes as I'm really struggling with the lethargy.

Hope you are all having a better day than me!

Bugaboom · 05/06/2014 13:33

Just for those worrying about having no symptoms- I felt hungover/mildly nauseous early in my last pregnancy but this completely stopped at 8 weeks and I felt like normal again. I more or less convinced myself that there was no pregnancy but all was fine at 12 week scan. I've noticed this week I'm not having any symptoms having felt rubbish last week. Determined not to fret this time but enjoy feeling ok!
lulujakey hope you feel better this morning. I had AF like cramps a few days ago but it passed.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 05/06/2014 14:03

Monstamio - very good advice. As my Granny used to say 'worrying is like a rocking horse, it gives you something to do but doesn't get you anywhere'

I'm a terrible worrier and a mc/mmc is my worst fear, despite seeing little beans heartbeat only 5 days ago! I think because this is my first pregnancy, I have nothing to compare it to and so Dr Google has become my friend/worst enemy. Although it seems to throw up more negative than positive stories.

So just an update re seabands. I've been wearing them since yesterday morning when they arrived from amazon (apart from overnight) and I have to say, although they haven't taken away the nausea completely, it is much much better! Whether it's psychological/placebo effect - they really do seem to be working and I feel much more interested in food... so I'm watching this space!

Frances79FirstTime · 05/06/2014 14:41

Ikkleme - If you are unsure on dates, you can pay for a private early scan. Not sure if it goes by individual trusts, but I was very unsure on mine (because hadn't had a period for years and got pregnant straight off the pill) and my midwife said that our authority only gives early scans on the NHS for emergencies, but she recommended I pay for one to get dated. A bit annoying as I would have been happy to wait for the 12 week scan but seeing the heartbeat at 8 weeks was £85 well spent in the end.

Camsie You're not on your own, I think it is only natural to worry. I've seen the hb and still worry there will be nothing there at 12 weeks. And then I worry that tests will throw up something horrible. Not sure what I will worry about after that but sure I will find something!

LulusMiniEgg · 05/06/2014 14:54

Woo hoo nothing to do with pregnancy but I've got secret cinema tickets for 'back to the future!' Going to be amazing even with a baby bump!

gingysmummy · 05/06/2014 15:29

Frances79FirstTime · 05/06/2014 15:58

Lulu you just totally reminded me to get tickets for that after I heard about it on the radio this morning! Went to the Top Gun one a couple of years ago and it was fab!

LulusMiniEgg · 05/06/2014 16:10

Yeah we went to Brazil last time & it was great but didn't really know the film so this will be incredible!
Frances fx that more dates will be released. Like them on fb and you get reminders when tickets are on sale x

madrigals is the harmony th Down's syndrome test? My dd had Down's syndrome but we didn't find out until we got her post mortem results. We have been offered the CVS of amnio this time but I won't have them. The only text I will have is the nuchal and quad bloods.
