Lulu, your dh sounds hilarious!

I was still awake at 2am this morning, I need help! I'm a childminder and have a 16 month, 3yr and 4 yr old all arriving at 8 am. I'm going to be a bad childminder today, after music group I think it will be cbeebies for an hour! I can't even dose up on coffee . Hope you all have a good day.

LuluJakey1 · 02/06/2014 07:38

blitzy That sounds awful. Poor you- I have every sympathy. Does it wear off or go on all day? Wear off I hope. Brew

I was awake at 2am too. DH was talking to me about possible holidays in the summer now we know about Smudge (what we are calling the baby at the moment).

His ideas ranged from a cottage in Wales, a house in France (but he then decided I would not be able to resist the cheeses so that's out), New York, a camper van down the West Coast of America (worried about bears in National Parks), to a cottage in Norfolk or Ireland. Thinks we should stay near the NHS.

I'm off to work. It will be a relief to teach!

Have a good day everyone.

Lulu, I'm hoping it wears off....
We are going to Bulgaria in July, can't say I'm looking forward to it, I want to stay in the country, but it's all paid up.

RPopz · 02/06/2014 08:01

I'm desperate for a holiday! But pointless til the sicky tiredness wears off as I know I won't enjoy it. DH didn't come to bed til 3 (guess who isn't at work today! Angry ) so I've been awake roughly since then! Yaaawn.

Have you given up all caffeine blitzy? I still have one on a morning to get me going! Sounds like you'll need one Wink x

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 02/06/2014 09:02

Thanks for all your replies re dates, we're meeting with the mw on Sunday so will see what she suggests re our 12 week scan.

Ooooh a holiday sounds wonderful, it's just hard to know when I'm going to start to feel better. The idea of being sat on a plane right now fills me with dread. We're thinking about a cottage break somewhere but again I seem to get travel sickness since being pregnant so a car journey is also not my idea of fun. I love the idea of going abroad, maybe somewhere no more than a couple of hours on a plane. Does anyone know what the implications are of being pregnant in terms of travel insurance??

I'm off to Sorrento in August to be my best friend's bridesmaid-hope I don't have too much of a bump as she has already bought the dresses! I'll be nearly 5 months by then so hopefully in the blooming stage rather than the knackered, grey and bloated stage I am now!

Saraswati · 02/06/2014 10:17

Ooo lulu I went to sorrento and the amalfi coast last year, it was so beautiful what a lovely place for your friends wedding.

We've been talking about holidays but for after the baby is born, we had just got back from goa when I got my bfp so it'll be cheapies for the rest of the year! It's my 30th next summer so we're trying to think of somewhere special to go that will be suitable for a 6/7 month old. At the moment I'm swaying towards Sicily, flight won't be too long and I've always wanted to go there. I want to get the baby used to flying as we love to travel and want the baby to get used to it as soon as possible. We've got a wedding in Dorset at the end of July so will turn that into a mini break, then do some thing in the uk for our anniversary in November so I'm not too far away from the nhs!!

Been puking at work all morning, it's getting very difficult to hide and I've run out of dodgy curry and hungover excuses!! Please god let this sickness clear up in the second trimester!! I don't want to tell work until I physically can't hide it but I'm showing a bit already so not sure how, I was hoping to hide it until 20 weeks but I don't think that'll be possible.

Anyone got any scans or appointments coming up this week?

sleepisforthetired · 02/06/2014 10:31

Morning All,

Chased for the midwife appointment, and have now have a booking in appointment on Tuesday (next week) - will be 10 weeks, and they assured me a scan will be "sorted" to be within 13 weeks. :)

Anyone want to make bra recommendations? Currently wearing sports bras, but will need to make proper underwear the next purchase!

mummyk8 · 02/06/2014 11:02

Ug, just back from the Dr's on antibiotic for a nasty urine infection with high temp etc... feel dreadful. Also still bleeding :( . My booking in appointment with the Midwives isn't until the 13th but trying to get an earlier appointment. I had forgot just how stressful and worrying the 1st trimester is.

Minibagel · 02/06/2014 11:34

My booking in appointment is in 30 mins, I feel nervous. I think its partly because im going with ds1 who is 10 months and I'm worried he'll cry the whole time because it's his nap time!

Will they take my bloods today? I can't remember

Loobyloo893 · 02/06/2014 11:41

I'll be taking my 2yo DS to booking appt next week. I'm just going to put him in pushchair, give lots of snacks and take some toys. And hope he doesn't go crazy. Midwife said it would take about an hour! Pretty sure they take blood at booking in.

tams1uk · 02/06/2014 11:44

They do a 2 stage booking in appointment where I am. First one tonight is to give me initial information about the care they provide and the health screenings etc. Then second one in a week to do the full medical history and blood works, etc. Feel a little like its dragged out, but really glad I'm finally going to see someone now. Makes it all feel a little more real.

On a separate note... anyone else finding they have just gone off food completely??? I am hungry most of the time, and if I don't eat, the nausea hits hard, but I cannot find any food that interests me or makes me feel satisfied :-( So depressing when I usually love food, lol

Loobyloo893 · 02/06/2014 11:58

Tams I'm Exactly the same with food at the moment nothing interests me but if I don't eat I feel so ill. I had to sneak away at playgroup to eat a biscuit this morning to stop me being sick! Luckily I have DS to cook for so I make myself eat all my meals and snacks with him just so im eating properly. I remember when I was pregnant with him I lived off toast, crisps and chicken nuggets for the first few months!

cheshirem2b · 02/06/2014 12:09

sleep I have massive boobs normally so go to Bravisimo. Unfortunately my nice bras weren't fitting properly so I went and got refitted on Friday. They recommend coming back for fitting at 20ish and 37ish weeks. I'd really recommend them if your larger up top!
After a busy weekend I'm now exhausted and useless in work today! Roll on 2nd trimester. Hope the ms ladies stay to get some relief soon!

MelMc73 · 02/06/2014 12:41

Back from our caravanning expedition and I have to say I am feeling truly awful today. Had to come home from work. I've been getting progressively worse over the weekend. Nausea to die for (although not physically sick ...yet!) and over-whelming tiredness and headaches. Just yuk! Roll on 2nd trimester for a bit of relief! I'm desperate to maintain my gym program as well but it just isn't happening as I have zero energy.

Had a quick look at M&S maternity yesterday and they look okay. I'll be getting a fitted before my hols in 4 weeks time I think.

ViviPru · 02/06/2014 12:41

Sara we're the same re hoping to get the baby used to travelling at an early age. It's one of my best friends weddings in May 2015 in Turkey so we're really looking forward to the fact we have a fixed commitment already that we can't wimp out of!

HenriettaTurkey · 02/06/2014 12:49

Mel, it sounds like we're having a very similar time, as well as having similar due dates. This is exactly how I'm feeling.

Luckily (?) I am off work with a bad hip, so managing to rest up, although have a 2 y-o at home (DH is SAHP) who has reverted to waking up lots in the night - and DH is up half the night settling him. This means I have to take shifts looking after him (fair enough) which is a bit knackering.

We are just back from Sorrento and Sicily - and loved it!

When DS was little (i.e. under a year) we went to Malta which was great, but lacked high chairs. We also did lots of driving around Europe - taking the car across the sea does make things a lot easier. :)

looking4rainbow · 02/06/2014 13:02

Afternoon ladies. Had a scan this morning saw a healthy heartbeat 9+3. Been keeping a low profile but past the stage of last miscarraige now so feeling hopeful now.

I don't have midwife appointment till the day after my 12wk scan which seems too late and I won't have my book but booking lady said it's fine?
Will try get a cancellation I hope

With regards to bra I would agree with Cheshire I already have a new bra from bravissimo

LulusMiniEgg · 02/06/2014 13:20

my SIL (who doesn't know, my BIL won't tell her because she can't keep a secret!) suggested we all go skiing in January! Now Dh is dead set on a skiing hol in jan, and despite what MIL and I say he is not listening! He hates it when people put their lives on hold with a baby and is determined we won't be the same, not sure skiing with a week old baby is quite what I had in mind when I agreed! Haha!x

LulusMiniEgg · 02/06/2014 13:21

Ps, congrats looking you must be so relieved xxx

Minibagel · 02/06/2014 13:23

Bravissimo are great for maternity bras that dont look like sacks. I also saw some sports bra style ones in sainsburys in nice colours and even leopard print which would be a good cheaper option for smaller busts.

The booking in appt went ok although I did cry twice during, bloody hormones!! It was going over the birth of my ds and the miscarriage this year that set me off. Got an early scan a week on monday, fingers crossed we get to see the little bean then, when I think I'll be 9+5

I'm with all you ladies on the lack of interest in food. I used to love shopping for and planning our meals, now I just wait to see what I can eat on the day. I don't know that I want anything for lunch yet ugh.

Mslad · 02/06/2014 13:26

Can I go waaaaay off topic and just say that I'm reading a book called 'Can anybody help me?' it's a crime thriller set around a pretend mn thread like this! one for the posters is serial killer and is bumping off some of the women on the post....I'm not paranoid about everybody on here at all....lol, joking of course Smile

2 weeks tomorrow for my scan, working from home and can't concentrate at all; I may get fired as a result of this first trimester Blush
