Goodness knows h!

I feel like ive been showing since about 8 weeks. Long scarves, hoodies and cardigans help to keep the secret!
Aching today after being in the car or sitting down for most of the day and a 45 min walk last night!

binkybunny · 04/06/2014 20:37

h yep it's self-hypnosis for child birth. They cant call it hypnobirthing as its not quite the same. Have just enquired about hypnobirthing but at 300 for 5 sessions I think we'll be giving it a miss Shock

Going for the gender scan tues eve now as DH needs to be at an appointment at 10am 2 hours drive away from the scan clinic. Dont want to wait nearly a week!!!

wee that could be a v interesting birthday party. 'Pin the Tens machine on mummy' for a party game? Grin

KikiThePea · 05/06/2014 09:45

Morning, all!

So many lovely pieces of news re:scans and wriggly babies.

Good to hear of your experience with the self-hypnosis, binky. I've still not really looked into the cost of the various different courses and things on offer around here. I got as far as booking onto an NCT course at the beginning of August, but that's about it.

weebairn, that could be a very eventful party indeed!

Hope you're all wonderful and blooming (let's just all ignore the bloating and ligament pain for just a few minutes.....if that's actually possible...)

weebairn · 05/06/2014 10:15

If hypnotherapy classes are too expensive for you, another option is the CD

I bought this one and listened to it loads in the end of pregnancy.

Not sure it really helped labour to hurt less, but it made me very calm and chilled out at the end of pregnancy, rather than worrying about things. Also maybe it made me feel quite calm and safe during labour, I never really panicked or got worried at all and my labour was quite long and really hurt!

The CD generally sent me to sleep it was so relaxing but once I was on maternity leave having a daily nap was awesome!

mrshjb · 05/06/2014 17:25

Sorry weebairn you've said that before haven't you, my memory is rubbish at the minute! Could well be an interesting birthday for her! Did you have her on time?

I've been in my maternity jeans for the last few days (I bought them when I needed skinny black jeans fast and they didn't have any in my size ages ago). I feel so self conscious though!

Wow binky that's expensive. Weebairn's cd sounds good though!

Kiki I'm definitely not blooming but it's a nice idea!!! I've just invested in some ginger biscuits to see if they can help with the nausea....!

OP posts:
weebairn · 05/06/2014 18:21

She was born 40+5. I expect this one will sneak into October.

When's your estimated due date Helen? Still thrilled for you, not so thrilled to hear you're feeling nauseous though Sad

mrshjb · 05/06/2014 19:02

I'm so useless I don't even know how overdue that would have made you?

Aw thanks. To be honest I don't think it's really sunk in yet, despite having very obvious pregnancy symptoms. I think it'll feel more real after the scan! I think around 28th January. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets moved a little bit earlier though!

OP posts:
weebairn · 05/06/2014 20:15

Sorry - 5 days after my due date (40 weeks)

Too much jargon!

It took ages to sink in for me too, both times, I think. It's ok! You don't have to do anything really. 9 months is a long time to get used to an idea xxx

binkybunny · 05/06/2014 21:04

H I'm not sure it's really, truly sank in with me yet! I keep having realisations that there's a baby in there and getting totally overwhelmed. I need to get a handle on it really.

Wee def going to get the CD as it has been recommended on the other antenatal blog. I actually spoke to the midwife that does the hypnobirthing about something else and she was so rude I don't know how relaxing she'd be and there's no way she's getting £300 of my money!

How are you feeling Kiki?

mrshjb · 07/06/2014 07:42

I should really know that 40 weeks is full term shouldn't I! To be honest, I'm so focused on getting to 12 weeks I haven't really thought past that stage!

It definitely doesn't really sink in. I'm hoping once I've seen a baby on a screen I might feel better. I know my chances of mc are dropping by the day but it's still really scary. I'm constantly analysing how pregnant I feel and whether it's more or less so than yesterday!

Hope everyone is well :) xxx

OP posts:
binkybunny · 07/06/2014 19:49

H at 22 weeks I have realised pregnancy is just constant worry! I keep measuring my bump and if it goes down I worry. If it grows I worry its going to be a big baby!

Had a lovely baby shopping today. Chosen car seat and found the last few bits for the nursery. Everytime I think we're nearly there I find more stuff I 'need' to buy :-)

mrshjb · 07/06/2014 21:59

It's crazy isn't it. There's always something to worry about, maybe second pregnancy will be easier?!

Ooh how exciting! What colour scheme have you gone for?

OP posts:
mrshjb · 08/06/2014 07:58

How did you lot sleep in the early days? Some friends in RL said they slept like logs when they were in the first trimester, but so far I am either sweating or needing to get up for a wee. DH seems to be snow print constantly at the minute too, don't know if he always has or whether it's because I'm sleeping so rubbish I hear him all the time! Either way I'm sleeping rubbish and I'm knackered! Booooooo!

OP posts:
binkybunny · 08/06/2014 08:12

We've chosen a woodland theme so its all browns, hertitage green and lemons with cute animals. I'll try and post some links up. Has anyone else started on nursery ideas? I just want to try and get everything done while I have energy!

H I didnt feel like I had really slept a whole night since January until I did the self hypnosis class this last week. I've had three really good nights sleep with the last two being right through the night without a loo trip! I'm going to order the cd today that weebairn suggested.

mrshjb · 08/06/2014 08:23

Sounds lovely and definitely a good idea to get it sorted when you still have the energy. What else have you bought? Are you looking forward to the scan on Tuesday?

Oh that's rubbish then. Relaxation might be the way forward. I used to sleep really well after reflexology so that makes sense. Apparently you can't have it in the same way when you're pregnant though so I might have to look for something else! I'll definitely be getting the birthing CD nearer the time!

OP posts:
binkybunny · 08/06/2014 08:36

I'm trying not to get too excited about Tuesday incase s/he won't let us see again. I think thats why I've thrown myself head first into everything else as a distraction!

I didnt know you couldnt have reflexology when pregnant. I love it and have been getting DH to do a bit on an evening as I'm suffering with really bad back and hip ache but have been desperate for a 'proper' session!

mrshjb · 08/06/2014 08:43

Is it a 4d one that you're having? I think distraction seems to be the key throughout the whole pregnancy business!

Well my friend had it and she said they weren't allowed to press on the bits that related to any of your reproductive organs and also they generally had to be a bit lighter! She still had sessions right up to her due date though so you can still have it, it's just not the same!

misskgb · 08/06/2014 14:03

Hi all. Phone has been playing up n didn't let me find our thread for a few days!

We only decorated the spare room before xmas so not going to do a nursery as such. 3 painted walls n one red stripey wall paper. Bought the cot but not building it just yet. Got the pushchair n a few clothes but waiting for the next scan to buy more

Hospital on weds to c consultant about my kidneys. Hope he can help with some back pain ive been having.

H-the main reason I didn't sleep was because of painful chest!! Its starting to get warm now tho n I was awake at 5am this morning! :-(

binkybunny · 08/06/2014 21:13

H we get a 4d preview and a 3d pic with the scan. I'm not too keen on them but its part of the package so will have a look. Maybe I'll feel different with it being our baby.

missk do you have problems with your kidneys normally or is it pregnancy related?

I'm drinking about 2 litres of water per day and still dehydrated so suffering with cystitis like symptons a lot but the doc just told me to drink more fluid!

chillychicken · 09/06/2014 11:22

Hi all, how are you all?

14+1 today and it's starting to whizz by now, although this is probably because my dates were changed. I considered going by my own dates but 14+1 sounds better than 13+5 so we're going with the hospital Grin

Feel massive at the moment - hugely bloated. Going to buy some clothes in the next size up and some maternity gear this week, I just want to be comfy!

I'm struggling with dehydration too binky. I'm trying to drink loads but it's never enough. Also struggling with eating anything remotely healthy. I really need to sort that out actually.

Going to attempt to include some exercise into my daily life as well. I was starting to do ok with a routine, but that all got forgotten about in the first trimester. Planning on walking, doing some light weights and squats and using the X-trainer for 15/20 minutes a day and build up from there. Also going to get a pre-natal workout DVD. I think Davina does one. I just ache so much at the moment and I think most of that is due to unfitness.

So OBEM is back this Weds...will anyone be watching?

KikiThePea · 09/06/2014 13:48

Hi everyone! How are you all getting on?

Like some of you I don't think I've ever consumed as much water as I have done in the past few weeks. DH was also dispatched to John Lewis to buy a large fan for the bedroom. The downside to our lovely house is that there are no cavity walls and thus it becomes an oven in the barest hint of summer.

Nursery furniture is in (that wasn't supposed to happen for a little while yet, but due to the busy few months ahead we thought we'd get it over and done with whilst we still felt like shopping!) and looks lovely. We bought the car seat and base last week, and this morning we went shopping with MIL and are now in possession of a pram. Nothing says 'this is really happening' like a great big pram in your house....

I'm 24+6 today. Midwife and blood tests on Wednesday, then anti-d injection on 1st July. I feel enormous, but apparently I'm not. Hmm....we'll see what the midwife says. DH is keeping me away from the tape measure!

Anyone else having weird dreams? Mine have always been a bit mad, but it's getting ridiculous now!

xxx

KikiThePea · 09/06/2014 13:49

Oh, and chilly, I can't actually bring myself to watch OBEM at all. I've never seen it and can't even consider it now. Clearly I'm being a wimp! Ha!

Lolly84 · 09/06/2014 16:51

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all well. Oh. Binky I'm excited for you for tomorrow. Exciting.

Had some amazing news, my sis gave birth to my baby niece this morning. A healthy 7lbs 15ozs. She was due yesterday but had to be induced due to high BP and protein in urine. Ended up a bit traumatic with forceps but she got here safely. Desperate to meet the little one but won't be able to for a week or 2 as my sis lives in Jersey.

I have my 16 week mw visit on thurs. Just feel like not much is happening apart from stomach hardening, boobs growing and stretchy feelings. Looking forward to a wee bump growing and to feel some proper movements. Just at that feel fat stage.

Oh exciting talking about nurseries, my hubby is desperate to get started but I am holding him back until after 20 week scan. Feels like everybody has something to give us which is helpful and keep costs down.

Chilly great ideas on exercising, I must get moving more, went out for a long walk yesterday but must do more. X

mrshjb · 09/06/2014 20:53

Evening everyone!!

Hope everything is ok with your kidneys misskgb. Does you DH think it will jinx things if you build the cot?!

binky not long to wait now until the scan. The 4d ones are a bit weird, but I've always thought they were a good idea if you 100% wanted to know what you were having?!

Hey chilly nice to hear from you! I would be pleased if the hospital moved me further along as well, it just feels like it's dragging so much at the minute! Doing a bit of exercise sounds good. I've dropped my more intense classes, but I'm still keeping up with swimming and walking. I'm going to be watching OBEM. I absolutely loved last series. If anything it made me feel better about labour than I did before watching it. Mainly because no matter how crap the labour is, seeing them at the end with their babies made it all seem worth it! I'm surprised it's back on so soon though?!

Kiki what theme have your gone for the baby's room? Definitely must feel real having a pram in your house!

I've been overly thirsty right from the start. Apparently it's the extra blood your body is making or something. I've always drunk loads of water but it's really picked up recently. Especially in the first few weeks, I was finding my lips were cracking from dehydration!

Lolly lovely news about your sister :) 7lb 15oz is a good weight isn't it. Definitely handy getting loads of freebies. I don't think there is a massive amount that we'll have to buy because my sister is giving us loads!! It will be a massive help too. What happens at the 16 week midwife appointment?

I'm 6+5 now. Feel nauseous most of the time, wee a lot, thirsty a lot, a lot of food aversions, boobs are killing, can't sleep, always boiling. Overall very typical pregnancy stuff! Oh yeah and I was laid in bed last night and my mouth started bleeding loads. Really not sure why that happens in pregnancy?! Not wanting to google it because I'm sure someone somewhere will tell me it's a bad thing!! Anyways Midwife appointment is a week today which I am looking forward to.

xxx

chilly I'm so excited for OBEM. I find it kind of reassuring as long as all goes ok!

lolly thats lovely news about your sister and a nice weight too! I lived in Jersey until 2 years ago. A lovely place but frustrating to have to rely on flights and ferries to see family which is one reason we left.

kiki sounds like you are really well organised. I love just sitting in our nursery. I just find it so calming and its not even decorated yet.

Yes to the weird and wonderful dreams too!

Not sure how productive my day will be at work today. So excited about our scan I've been awake since just after 6 Grin
