Hi ladies

Wow I have missed so much! Congrats Lady and Chilly on your scans!

A boy for you Lady, hubby keeps calling out baby he and I think he will be shocked if it's a girl. Can't wait to find out. Got my scan date through and it's 11th of July which works perfectly as we go on hol 17th of July.

Went back home to Scotland to tell all my family and they were sooooo shocked but very happy. Had a family party to attend so was nice to tell everyone at once. Parties and me sober does not go together well.

Waist line is definitely growing and finding it hard to find maternity clothes that aren't massive and normal clothes that aren't tight! Annoying!

14 weeks feels a bit like no mans land as not many symptoms apart from heart burn. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Hope all you ladies are great, xxx

misskgb · 02/06/2014 21:54

Hi all. I think I can feel rice krispie moving. Not 100% but definitely stuff going on inside!

Exciting to read everyone's updates. Day before my bday h! :-)

Ladymillion · 02/06/2014 22:52

Hi everyone, great to see everyone's getting scans / scan dates coming through! Chilly 23rd July is my birthday (good day haha).

Been so busy over the weekend - it was DP's 30th birthday and I threw a surprise party for him. I've been planning it for months and finally managed to pull it off and he didn't have a clue!

Helen to answer your question from ages ago yeah the scan I had was a private early one - 60 quid and I was 16+3 at the time. They had some time at the end to try the 4D out and I got a couple of very freaky looking but amazing 4D pics of my little boy! I think I'm addicted to scans (my name is lady and I'm a scan-aholic) so I will no doubt be paying for another one a few weeks months after the 20 week one Blush

My 20 week scan is 30th June (I'll be 21 weeks by then)

Can't wait to hear what you're all having (those that are finding out of course) Smile

mrshjb · 03/06/2014 16:09

Chilly lovely to hear from you and I'm really pleased that everything went well at the scan :) I've read a few people on here say that they have been given dates that they know for definite are wrong. Do some babies just grow faster than others from the start?! Any reason you're referring to the baby as 'he' all the way through that?!

Binky can't wait to hear how your scan went. Really hope you've managed to find out what you're having as well!!

Misskgb any more movements from the little one?!

Lady How much was your first scan, if you don't mind me asking? I've been having a look over here and they're £99 which does seem like quite a lot of money really- but then I think for reassurance it's not that much!! I'll definitely be getting a 4d one later down the line though! Did the midwife base your dates on when you told them that you ovulated? Because based on my lmp I would be a week further on then I think I am, so I was half wondering whether to let them book my scan for the week earlier or whether to tell them I was tracking ovulation?! Or if they would listen to me anyways?!!!

chillychicken · 03/06/2014 16:48

Scan pic!

Haha, no hjb I just always refer to baby as a he. I guess I find "she" more gender-determined? I don't even know if that makes sense but because a lot websites refer to an unknown gender as "he" I seem to find it more gender neutral? Weird I know Grin

I do think it is a boy but had an overwhelming feeling during the scan that it was a girl.

mrshjb · 03/06/2014 16:55

Aw wow chilly that's amazing and so clear!!! Yeah I have found most websites say he, except for the baby centre app which seems to say she!!

Ooh, so what's your money on now then?!

OP posts:
chillychicken · 03/06/2014 17:18

I've tried looking up nub theory but I'm rubbish and can't even see a nub on that scan pic Grin

I'm thinking boy still but there's a 50% chance I'm wrong Wink

mrshjb · 03/06/2014 17:40

What the F is nub theory?!!! Haha yeah this is very true, not really like there is a huge range of possible outcomes is it!

OP posts:
Lolly84 · 03/06/2014 18:40

Here's my scan photos from a couple of weeks ago.
Nub theory is hard with all the bits coming out of baby.
Any new names? I'm loving Sadie at the mo!

Oh Helen, was thinking you could be the first in group to have twins? Would that be good or bad??

x

binkybunny · 03/06/2014 18:57

Hi all scan went well one healthy baby but s/he wasnt playing and had their legs tight together. Think we are going to have to go private next week as I'm dying to find out now!

Great pics lolly and chilly. Ours isnt so clear so another reason to have another scan!

misskgb · 03/06/2014 19:22

Yes h-felt a definite movement last night n was amazing! Seeing consultant about my kidneys next week n secretly hoping he orders lots of scans!!! (He'll probably send me away nfa now!)

Lolly84 · 03/06/2014 19:27

Ah Binky that's a shame. Hope you can find out soon.

Do any of you have strong feeling re the gender? My sis is convinced she is having a girl from how she feels. She is due on Sunday so will find out soon. One of my best friends gave birth on Sunday morning and her baby was 9lbs 2oz, ouch. I was reading that there has been a rise in 12lber babies, ouch again. Hopefully ours will all be a good weight xxx

Ladymillion · 03/06/2014 19:56

H - in regards to the fact that some of us have been convinced that we had our dates right but the scan said different - I think that's because the way they measure the length of the baby is not an exact science, they literally draw a line on the screen and go by that. At my first reassurance scan I put myself at exactly 8 weeks (which they confirmed - and that was 50 quid by the way, I live in Northamptonshire) and then I had another early scan at exactly 11 weeks when they put me at 11+4. But I knew I was only 11. Then at my NT scan I was 13 weeks and they confirmed that I was right again. I think it's just difficult to measure the baby 100% accurately when it's so small and wriggly. Obviously sometimes we get it wrong but seeing as we track every day of our cycles and we tend know our bodies pretty well, I feel it's more likely that they're wrong.

I told my midwife that I had been taking ovulation tests so I KNEW when I'd conceived (give or take a few days) and she listened to me - scheduling my NT scan for when I calculated I'd be between 11-14 weeks. If she hadn't have listened though, my scan would've been way too early and would've had to have been rebooked anyway (if you remember my cycles were 47 days in length so if she'd have gone by my LMP I'd have been put about 4 weeks ahead of what I actually was!)

Ladymillion · 03/06/2014 19:57

I'm gonna have to go on the actual website rather than the app to see these scan pics! Smile Can't see them on my phone!

binkybunny · 03/06/2014 20:02

lolly convinced its a boy which is why we really want to find out!!!

weebairn · 03/06/2014 20:07

Everyone I speak to is convinced I am having a boy but I think that's just because I already have a girl!

I really wanted a boy last time (it didn't matter one tiny bit the second I laid eyes on my gorgeous daughter so I don't mind admitting it!) - but this time I am totally happy either way. :)

He or she was having a great kick in the bath earlier! I could see my tummy jumping about!

misskgb · 03/06/2014 20:44

A friend of mine is an acupuncturist n thinks I'm having a girl. I've got no inkling either way

If u go on my scan dates then I conceived before my last af so don't think they're 100% in their calculations!

mrshjb · 03/06/2014 20:49

Aww Lolly love your scan pics too. Makes me so excited about having mine!! Well to be honest there have been a few things that have made me consider the possibility of me being pregnant with twins. Guess I'll just have to wait and see!! DH thinks it would be a good thing, I think I would be scared to death!! Exciting that your sister is due soon, I bet it'll make you even more excited for yours! 9lb 2oz is a hell of a baby isn't it! Both me and DH are tall so I'm a bit worried we'll have a really long one!!

Ooh how exciting misskgb!! Suppose it's not toooooo long until your next scan if you don't get any freebies!

Thanks for that lady it does sound a bit up and down really. I'll have to just wait and see what the midwife says. £50 is pretty reasonable, I would definitely consider it for that, but £99 is pretty expensive isn't it.

Could be a lot of boys on this thread then! My family are convinced I'm having a boy too!

weebairn lovely to hear you have a super wriggly baby! Has your daughter said whether she wants a brother or a sister?!

mrshjb · 03/06/2014 20:50

Just seen your second post misskgb. Have they not corrected your due date now?!

OP posts:
weebairn · 03/06/2014 21:41

No helen, her only words are "mama" and "daddee" and "baba" and sometimes "bubbles" Grin She does occasionally seem to understand/say there is a baby in my tummy, but this only means she thinks there are babies in everyone's tummies now! Kept pulling my dad's shirt up the other day and poking him and saying "babba!"

She was a very early walker (9.5 months!) but concentrates more on destroying my house than learning to talk Wink

EEEEK to the idea of twins!! I don't think I could!! (not that you'd have a choice!)

misskgb · 03/06/2014 22:46

No h- the scan put ne further along meaning id conceived before my last af. Mine n my midwifes dates were more realistic to ovulation. I don't mind-It'll come when its ready no matter what date u get!

I was convinced we were having twins!

mrshjb · 04/06/2014 08:16

Aww weebairn she sounds so cute! How old will she be when baby is born?

misskgb that's mental isn't it. They might try and get you to go for an induction when you're not actually late then?!

How the hell do you hide a belly that's so bloated it looks like you're already 6 months pregnant?! I'm normally pretty slim so my clothes are usually relatively tight, but having to dig out all of my baggy stuff at the minute!!

OP posts:
binkybunny · 04/06/2014 13:17

Having been adamant I wouldnt go for a private scan to find out gender we are going to book one for Sat morning! 80 but its driving me mad!!!

Also really recommend self hypnosis classes if your local hospital or MLU does them. First class this morning and feel like a new pwrson at work now!

mrshjb · 04/06/2014 13:26

Ooh how exciting. Can't wait to find out what you're having!

Is it the birthing hypnosis classes you're going to?

OP posts:
weebairn · 04/06/2014 14:32

Helen my due date is her 2nd birthday! Could be an eventful party....

The bloat is rubbish. I didn't really get it early on but feeling very heavy and tired now. Stretchy waistlines!
