Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

Believe me at this stage you would be amazed at what positions some babies can get themselves into!! Feet can literaly be by the babies ears, so the feet don't always give the positioning away. I would probably put money on it that the pain and pressure you are feeling is the head, but obviously I am not a midwife, so if you are still worried then ring!!

I am off into town now, I can't sit around the house all day! Catch you later xxx

LeBe · 11/09/2006 11:27

Thanks NJ. I hope it is that and nothing more sinister! I might ring if it is still bad a bit later. Have a nice time in town! x

Lebe - I was talking to my midwife friend at the weekend and I think she was saying that the abdominal pains they worry about in pregnancy are any you get at the top of your bump. She also said that having one symptom is not usually a problem. I was taking to her because I've been getting headaches, and it is a possible sign of pre-eclampsia but without other symptoms like swelling ankles or blurred vision or high bp then it's not something to worry about unless they are really really bad headaches. Call and speak to someone if you are worried, but if you have an appointment with someone anyway tomorrow you could just wait and ask them. That is what I'm going to do, as baby is clearly still moving around fine. I have found that pregnant women often get symptoms that midwives and GPs can't explain, I know I did earlier in the pregnancy!

LeBe · 11/09/2006 14:14

Thanks HopingCat and Mygirl, im not really worried cos i know baby is ok he is still wriggling around its just quite painful and really distracting me from work and stuff and i really cant afford to have avy more time off. I just thought that maybe if someone had it or knew what it was they might know of a way to ease it. I must sound such a wimp!

saralou100 · 11/09/2006 15:01

lebe, did they check your urine the other day when you went to maternity?? urine infections can give tummy aches sometimes.

LeBe · 11/09/2006 15:07

Hi Saralou. Yes they did i was totally covinced that was what it was as i had a really bad one last month but they said it was clear. It has eased off again now but i feel so worn out now. Sorry to keep on girls i feel like im dominating all your chats! Will definatley try to be more upbeat from now on. To start i will tell you all about the most beautiful crib I got yesterday, it is a loan from a friend but it is so gorgeous with a rocker stand aswell. Im not going to want to give it back!!

camgirl · 11/09/2006 15:14

Hello all,

LeBe - this sounds just like the pain I've been having. The consultant said it could be the head engaging/going up and down a bit or possibly mild SPD. He prodded me around where the pain is and said if it were SPD I would not be able to stand the prods - as it was I felt they were just mildly uncomfortable.

Otherwise, I'm OK. Working from home on Mondays now which is especially good today as we went to IKEA over the weekend, which left me totally exhausted. On the up side, between that and our John Lewis expedition we have the nursery pretty much finished!

NatalieJane · 11/09/2006 16:06

DS had a good day His old nursery teacher came over when I went to pick him up and said she saw him at break time and he told her he was exhausted LOL

I bought the most gorgeous little set in M&S when I was in town, it has a cardi, trousers, sleepsuit, hat, mittens, a bib, and two body suits (for £15 - bargain!!) but it has this little baby bear all over it LOL I get very excited when I look at the size of the clothes and know we will have a little baby to put in them soon enough!! LOL

Right am off to email this woman from eBay, do you remember I bought some monitors that she said were new, and when they arrived they obviously weren't new, so we managed to get her to agree to refund us if we sent the monitors back? Well, we sent the monitors back last Wednesday, (we waited a week at her request because she was moving house) and surprise surprise no refund, but tomorrow is the last day that we can get paypal involved to fight our corner, so I can't give her any more time.

Anyway...wish me luck!! xxx

Have just tried MyGirl, but I have two choices either to escalate the dispute, which takes it out of mine and the sellers hands and leaves it up to PayPal to decide who is in the wrong, but PP take a 'processing fee' of 25USD or I can close the dispute altogether and loose the money anyway.

I am really fed up with PP TBH, I think it is really bad that they take a fee (and a fairly sizable one at that) to sort out the problems caused by the to$$ers on eBay. Sorry I am fuming now!! LOL My poor DH has just had an earful on the phone, I thought PP was set up to protect the buyer FFS!!! GRRRRR!! LOL Can you tell I am hot and pregnant today?!

Charleesunnysunsun · 11/09/2006 16:40

LeBe - When i was pg with ds, from about 32 weeks i had excruciating pain where you say yours is and was in and out of hospital right up untill i was induced on my due date. They never defantly said what it was but guessed it was the baby laying on a nerve causing the pain. I feel for you i was in and out of them maternity ward like nobody's business! But if your worried do go back and get them to reassure you that everythings ok.

I have had a busy day just doing the housework and odd obs ect. I have finally got the nerve up and enrolled DS in the local playschool 3 days a week! I'm going to be a wreck come the 21st Sept when he starts! Bless him he's got his EEG through for next Monday and they want him to lay still for 45 mins! Hes 2 for god sake i don;t know how they can expect him to do that.

NatalieJane · 11/09/2006 16:43

Charlee, take a torch with you, my DS will still sit and follow the light around for as long as you can put up doing it!! Hope it goes OK on the day

LeBe · 11/09/2006 17:02

Camgirl - thanks for putting my mind at rest that im not mad and other people have had the same.

NJ - I cant believe how unhelpful pp are! That is daylight robbery taking that much as a charge i really dont blame you for being so annoyed it takes smaller things than that to set me off!

Charlee - Thanks for the sympathy, thats what i feel like in and out of the hospital and when everytime they say they dont know what it is it makes you feel a fraud! Plus lucky old me got the same doctor 2 weeks in a row and he was like 'oh hello again!' it was horrible. Also it everytime i go in a lady gives birth next door, and i dont mean in labour i mean actually delivers and i think making you listen to someone screaming in pain and then meeting their lo is the most unfair thing to do to someone, i have vowed not to go back to the hospital until lo is coming!!
Oh has anyone developed any late cravings?? Ive had none throughout, until now and guess what it is.... Sponges!!! (not the cakes actual sponges) i want them to be all soapy and then suck and chew on them i have so far resisted the urge - Just x

NatalieJane · 11/09/2006 17:10

Lebe, I have heard the sponge thing before, I think it means your body is low on a certain vit or mineral, can't remember which, do a search on MN I am sure it will be about somewhere... or I might be getting mixed up with coal... anyway, it is worth a search.

staceym11 · 11/09/2006 18:00

Hi everyone, sorry havnt been on for ages weekens just get so busy!

right first:
lebe the changing bag thing, make sure it has a wterproof wipeclean interior, an absolute must!

podglet happy birthday for tomo!

lebe again i have the craving for sponges, sucking the water off them and biting them. had it from since before i knew i was pg, not soapy ones tho!!!! lol

well as for pain, forgot who mentioned it.

iv been having what felt like contractions, but werent often or regular so have ignored them, dh isnt best impressed but i cant deal with the hospital right now. have also had shooting pains in my bump, really odd but dont really know how to describe it, seems to have eased tdoday.
did havve docs today tho and according to my notes (not that he told me) the head is 4/5 so now i cant remember, does that mean he can feel 4/5 or he cn only feel 1/5. he was wiggling it around (you ladies who have had babies before will understand) for ages!! just wondering if that means the heads nearly engaged, if it does i doubt this baby will make it past the end of oct!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 11/09/2006 21:15

Hello again

Haven't been on for a while as I just don't find the time (working full time, usually going to bed around now ... etc etc). Enjoying the various debates and stories on Mumsnet - especially what is being missed (I'd like to be able to turn over in bed easily and get out of the car in a dignified way instead of it turning into a major epic of shuffling here and there). Hoping my nesting instinct kicks in soon as we still have loads of boxes to sort out and the baby's room is a mess.

I'm in a play this week - (got involved before baby made an appearance - then it got postponed until now). Luckily being 7 months pregnant has been put into it so all I do is sit on stage for most of it (luckily it is short and I don't have to worry about needing the loo all the time). All the same - I'll be glad when it's over. I'm not only the mum-to-be in it - and it's quite comforting - I'm the most advanced by three weeks but my colleague is the most experienced (she's on her third) and it's nice to chat about the various aches and pains, cravings and so on we're getting (she likes eating raw chillis!). I don't start antenatel classes until October 12th so I haven't met any one else. The antenatel classes only last three weeks - I thought you did more of them? Anyway - have another UTI, and am on anti-biotics - hanging in there though - as I don't want work to send me on maternity leave early - I want to spend more time with baby.

Ah well - see you all again soon
LA

eeyoreuk · 12/09/2006 07:17

Hi All
been so busy recently - but have been reading all the messages.

LeBe My buggy is not at my house either - my Dad and his wife gave me the money to buy it but made me promise not to have it in the house.

As for the perinuim (sp?) massage i am going to give it a go but read an article that said 34 weeks - have also found a maternity shop that sells it will get the name for you.

Hope every one is okay have a class today about breastfeeding so will let you all know how it goes

eeyoreuk

Charleesunnysunsun · 12/09/2006 07:35

Stacey have a look at your notes it says stuff on there about the baby's positioning so it may tell you about the baby's engagment.

I keep having what feels like contractions but like you say they always wear off before anything happens.
I'm going to see my hemotologist on the 18th my mouth and nose is always pouring with blood i think my medication is up to high somehow! Yuck!

I haven't had any new cravings as such still crap food! i haven't wieghed myself to see the shocking gain it will only depress me! I am going to get dp to get me an excersise bike for xmas though to do in front of the telly and im going to dust of my copy of Davina Power of 3, im oreety sure im going to need it

podglet · 12/09/2006 08:41

Hi all,

Thanks for the birthday wishes - am very excited

Well, was on my feet til after 9 last night baking the office cakes for today. Had to get DP to help as by 8pm was dead on my feet and in tears. Was going to buy them but the girls persuaded me to bake as apparently I'm a bit of a Nigella (flattery will get them everywhere )

Have not opened anything yet today - am saving it all for this evening!

Charlee - did you see my thread on Health re the itching? It has been getting worse with a rash now can't do links but it is titled "30 weeks pg and itching" there is some quite good advice on there.

LadyAnne - know what you mean about fighting against early mat leave. The consultant mentioned it last week and said no, not for a while as I still have 10 weeks to go (although he said he thought the baby could be early coz of the excess fluid - gulp).

Stacey, my notes said 5/5 last week for the head and I don't know if that means it is right down or not - going to ask the midwife on Thursday

Well better get on with some work! Hope you all have a good day...

HopingCat · 12/09/2006 09:03

Stacey - I've spoken to mw about this. 4/5 means the baby has dropped a little. When the head reaches 1/5 it is engaged.

LadyAnne - I also don't start antenatal classes until October, and I have 3 sessions plus the tour of the hospital

Podglet - happy birthday! I really want cake now that you've mentioned it.

Lebe - how are you today? You seem to have been suffering a lot recently.

I've got my appointment at the hospital today. I think it's the same as a mw appointment except it's at the hospital antenatal clinic not my GP surgery. I've no idea if the consultant will actually see me as it says on my appointment card or if it will be yet another midwife, but this time I've written down all my questions so that I don't get in there and forget everything I wanted to ask like I normally do.

podglet · 12/09/2006 09:29

HopingCat - come on over. I have cherry cupcakes, coca-cola cupcakes and home made cookies! Hope you get on ok at the Hosp today.

staceym11 · 12/09/2006 09:42

oh HC thank you, have been worrying hes trying to come but obv that means hes just moved a bit, i can deal with that! lol!

well had a good night sleep after a lot of polava with dd, seh didnt really wanna go bed but she went without much of a fuss and was fine for 45 mins, and then woke up screaming, wouldnt go anywhere near her bed, didnt want her dummy (bad mummy alert, shes nearly 2 and still has a dummy in bed) or her teddy just screamed for ages. dh had to take my bro and his gf home so we were cuddled on the sofa eventually she calmed had her dummy and teddy and just lay there, i bundled her and took her to my bed coz as soon as we got near her room she freaked. she lay on my bed with me for 30 mins, i fell asleep she didnt she just lay there, then dh came home and he bundled her up and put her to bed, she was fien the rest of the night. I just dont understand, i cant work it out at all, and she was so upset i was in tears, i just dont get it!

anyway on a better note we'r gunna make postman pat cakes today! that should be fun with a nearly 2 year old! hehe! hope everyone ok

happy birthday podglet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! amazingly dd started randomly singing happy birthday on friday, i have no idea where she learnt it, kids are amazing!

Delia · 12/09/2006 10:10
