Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

Morning all

Well, looks like the weather has broken, must admit I am a bit glad, it was lovely up until yesterday and it got really humid, so I am a little bit pleased it isn't quite so unbearable today, but not very pleased to see the rain and clouds back.

Don't really know what to do with myself today, the house is as clean and as tidy as it can be with all the rooms upside down for decorating, I have no where to go, no one to talk to, I know I should be putting my feet up and enjoying the peace and quiet before the baby arrives, but I just can't sit around doing nothing all day.

I think it is time I found a hobbie....

MeAndMyBoy · 12/09/2006 10:54

Morning all,

Happy birthday podglet umm please can I have a virtual cake - they sound scrummy.

Well thanks to you ladies I finally remembered to call the hospital to book myself on the tour - hasn't been mentioned by the midwife yet so not sure when she was planning on talking to me about it, only to find that they are fully booked - so we can't go. Not happy, I have no idea were we are going or how it works out of hours etc. Will need to talk to the madwife at my next appointment in a couple of weeks.

I had to see the Doc yesterday for my AN appointment because I didn't see the madwife last week - he was useless, didn't fill my notes in, didn't measure me, did listen to the heart beat, had a rummage around but obviously didn't know what he was feeling for, that was about it.

NatalieJane · 12/09/2006 11:09

Sorry ...

Happy birthday Podglet!!! I hope you have a lovely day.

Now does anyone know where I left my manners and my memory?!

MAMB, hopefully the midwife will be able to tell you more about the hospital.

LeBe · 12/09/2006 11:29

Morning, right where to begin!

Stacey - I will definatly get a waterproof one, thanks for the tip. As for the craving, glad to hear im not alone dp thinks im mad but it is so strong im really struggling not to shove one in my mouth!

eeyore - It seems you didnt have much choice with the pram, i really want it in my house but am a too superstitious (sp??)

Podglet - HAPPY BIRTHDAY . Hope you have a brilliant day! Please may i have a cake too? Coca cola???? Sounds nice. Also well done for actually cooking, i would have cheated!!

Mygirl - I have looked up on the internet about cravicgs for sponges and it seem there are lot of us out there but i cant find anything saying what it is your supposed to be lacking, might ask mw today

Hopingcat - I feeling ok thanks, i think the iron is starting to help because i dont feel as tired as usual and seem to have a bit of energy,am going to ask mw about 'the pain' today though.

NJ - i have found a good hobby is watching rubbish telly and eating chocolate! Also if you find your manners and memory can you let me know cos i think mine might be there too!

FoghornLeghorn · 12/09/2006 11:33

Happy Birthday Podglet

Woke up this morning (30 weeks today) and for some reason I have started completely freaking out about labour Had a pretty awful time with DD and it seems to have only just dawned on me that I could possibly have to go through all of that again. I seriously don't think I could cope with having another labour like that, it was horrendous and now its hit me like a ton of bricks

OP posts:
podglet · 12/09/2006 11:41

Aw FHLH, hugs to you. I have no idea what labour is going to be like, and with a couple of complications (Strep B & the fluid issue) and getting increasingly worked up about it. I hope that we all have nice short labours and we all come out the other side with barely a scratch amongst us (ok, check out my sunny and probably annoying disposition)

You can all have a virtual cake - the best thing about them is there are no calories in the virtual ones Lebe, the Coca-cola ones are courtesy of Nigella and have Coke in both the cake mix and the icing! They are scrummy if I say so myself

FoghornLeghorn · 12/09/2006 11:49

Get the cakes moving my way please

I have been kidding myself for the last 7 months that all second babies are much easier than first and come much quicker, have had loads of friends that barely made in to the hospital in time with their second but that is just no my luck - I am destined to be in labour for 28 hours again with contractions coming every 2 minutes lasting a minute, 2 hours of pushing only to end up with stirrups and ventouse

Can you tell I'm feeling sorry for myself

Just got the letter from the hospital confirming that the GTT was clear and my iron levels are fine as well.

I am still not even thinking about the birth, I am much more worried what we are going to do with DS, our (fantastically lovely) next door neighbours have very kindly offered to have him if needs be, even in the middle of the night, but apart from the fact that they are old and retired and really don't need a 4 year old staying, I don't think he would be very happy being with them, he hardly knows them really, probably won't have much choice though, both of our famiilies live too far away, and we don't have any friends we would consider close enough to have him put on them - except our next door neighbours!

I am seriously considering asking to be induced on my due date so we can have a little bit of planning, if we get that far, but I was induced last time, and would really rather not have to be again.

The option that would be best all round, would be for me to have such a short labour that we never make it to the hospital, so no one has to look after DS, but I am way to scared to go all out for a home birth!!

LeBe · 12/09/2006 12:18

Podglet - I have a bit of a thing for coca cola at the moment so those cakes sound just up my street!

FHLH - Im sorry you are starting to feel frightened, i too have no experience to go by, other than the annoying 'horror stories' people tell you thinking they are being most helpful but i was in denial stage and then moved on to happy stage where i just thoight loads of people have done it and atleat you get something brilliant at the end. But after my trips to the hospital and hearing it for real i went into the terrified stage. Am now at the 'fed up stage' and just want to get it over with!

Also going back to an eariler coversation about the mw putting the measurements on your notes, can someone tell me where this will be as i cant see any sign on my notes.

NatalieJane · 12/09/2006 12:21

It would normally be called fundal height Lebe, some midwives don't measure at all (it really isn't the best way of keeping track of things) so you might not have a space for it on your notes at all.

jamcrumpet · 12/09/2006 12:40

Happy Birthday Podglet (for today) and Delia (for tomorrow) the cakes sound lovely!

Have just got back from weekend with my parents which was lovely but the 3 hour solo drive was maybe not the brightest move, began imagining giving birth by a roadside hotdog van! Finally have a few bits for LO now but am panicing though as not that long now! Arrargh...

Had a MW appointment today apparently still plenty of time to move but LO is lying completely across my belly, already taking after DH and being awkward .

Sorry to hear some of you suffering with pains and swelling etc hope you feel better tomorrow..

JC

Delia · 12/09/2006 13:11

Lebe, my mw added a page into my notes for the fundal height, it has this little graph which is supposed to say your going in the right direction and so far i'm slap bang in the middle of the 2 lines.
Is anyone looking at using reusable nappies? i've been checking out the options as would really like to try to do this but am unsure whether to buy some now or wait for bump to show its face first any ideas?

LeBe · 12/09/2006 13:36

Ive just got my notes out to look and i have nothing about fundal height and i also have graphs for fundo-symphysis height???? Also have graphs for babys head, babys abdomin, babys femur and crown to rump length and not one bit of ink has been put on anything, what is the point of putting it in there?

Kaybee7777 · 12/09/2006 14:05

Happy Birthday Podglet, the cakes sound yummy! I have a thing for coca cola too, though come to think of it I have always been an addict and have been trying to be good and not have too much throughout the whole pg as I am sure it's not good for lo.

I've been for my consultant appointment at the hospital, which was actually the same as seeing a midwife but I had to wait an hour and 15 mins instead of the usual 10 mins! My iron levels have dropped so I'm now on iron tablets but other than that everything seems fine. I asked about my constipation and indigestion problems and was told to drink more and that it would probably go about 6 weeks after birth!

LeBe - the graph my midwife plots the fundal height on is a seperate page that was attached to my notes at my 20 week scan. It's interesting to look at and I think it can be used by midwife to indicate if the baby's growth suddenly slows down, but I'm sure it's not the only indicator they use and it's not an accurate measure really. Maybe some health authorities feel it's so inaccurate there's no point doing it.

LeBe · 12/09/2006 16:16

I do have some measurements attached to my 20 week scan but they are measurements on that day. My mw doesnt even measure me with a tapemeasure, my old one did tho, im off to see the mw in a min so am going to ask she measures me and i want to know which way he is lying too.

I just indulged in 3 packets of jellies and feel sooo sick now! Having a bit of a hot flush too!

Oh well wish me luck, speak tom hope everyone has a nice evening xx

Charleesunnysunsun · 12/09/2006 17:41

FHLH - Honey we have 69 days to go according to my 'week 30 pregnancy guide' were due on the same day so i figure you have 69 left to.

This is my second baby, im not sure how many you have but i'm freaking out to. But you know what i tell myself everytime i start panicking? I ell myself that whatever happens we have to do it so we may as well make the most of the experience and try and stay calm. I'm opting for an epidural if i'm allowed, i know what was bad for me last time and i am making sure those things are different this time.

But were all here in the same boat so if you need to chat at anytime let me know. You can catch me on this email or add me if your on msn if you want to that is. Any of you feel free.

[email protected]

I am having more and more Braxton Hicks there really getting on my nerves my bump goes so hard it feels like it can't possibly get any tighter!

I got turned down for sure start grant becuase i applied a whole 3 days to early! how sad is that? I have now had to rush about getting another form and hunting out my midwife to fill it in so i can send it off again. Ridiculous if you ask me!

Mygirl did you try different brands of nappies out with your DD3 or did you just choose one and go for it? I've been looking at the various sites and have tried some of the "which nappy suits you" questionaires but am a bit concerned that i'm going to buy something useless! also how many did you tend to use a day? every site says something different and being a newby i'm not sure how often nappies have to be changed .

Charleesunnysunsun · 13/09/2006 07:30

Morning

I had a very disturbed sleep i keep getting the most horrible hot flushes especially at night and in the evening, i have a fan right on my bedside table, silly really since it's raining outside, but last night i got up to go to the toilet and felt so hot and funny i had to litteraly strip right down and put the fan on full!

Im going to town today and tomorrow so lots of excersise for me! I moved my whole living room furniture around yesterday, dp was NOT happy! He's threatend me with the scary midwife if i don't ease up on the housework!

I had a, loveley dinner last night i actually got off my bum and made propper food rather than snacking it was the first time in about a week. We had mash potatos on a bed of Bok Choy, topped with a garlic and rosemary pork chop and finished with a carrot and pumpkin puree and gravy! Yummy!

I had better go, i have enrolled DS in our local playschool and i have to go get him a litlle school bag and lunchbox, he's only 2 it breaks my heart that he's going to be away for 3 mornings a week!

DebbsyandBibby · 13/09/2006 07:48
