Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

Oh and Saralou, no pictures required thanks all the same ive got a bad enough image conjured up from my imagination. Actually if you could send the after ive given birth perhaps it would help with me losing weight because i would feel too ill

MeAndMyBoy · 08/09/2006 14:35

Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I was only 8st to start with but expected to gain about 2 and a half stone as that's what I ended up gaining last time. I havne't been weighed at the doc's at all it was just DS prompting me to get on the scales to show him how much I weighed compared to him that meant I saw the change.

I guess it's fine - just don't want to go using up my B/F stores too soon - otherwise I will have to eat mountains while I'm B/F.

Foghorn what happened with John Lewis?

LeBe · 08/09/2006 16:13

Does anyone know of a good baby bag, you know one that you carry all the stuff around in and they sometimes have a changing matt built in and pockets for bottles etc. I but this on the pg thread but no one wants to answer x

HopingCat · 08/09/2006 16:20

Lebe - I asked the same question a while back. The link is here

After reading everyone's advice, I got a Mothercare one off ebay for £5 and got the free Huggies one when I joined the Parenting Club. Since buying these I've noticed Tesco do one which looks like good value, but I'm going to see how I get on with the Mothercare one first.

Well they have offered me next Friday as the earliest delivery slot . I just accepted it because I was so desperate to get out of the house, couldn't face sitting in for hours on end again so soon.
I am going to write and complain though - they said my other 2 boxes got left at the depot. DIMWITS !

FHLH I am for you, it is so annoying when companies can't do what they say they will.

On a brighter note, my glider chair thing arrived yesterday, it is lovely Can't wait to have a baby to rock to sleep on it with now!! LOL

We have got a busy weekend, DH is working this morning, then we have to go and get DS's school shoes he starts school on Monday, and we have to leave it till the last weekend!! I have to take some things back to Toys 'R' Us, get my nephews birthday present, and then we are hitting B&Q!! We need to get the carpet (and the things to fit it), skirting boards, curtain pole, some shelves, well everything for the shell of the nursery except the paint that we already have! Hopefully we can get it painted tomorrow, and then DH can do the skirting boards and carpet next weekend, then with any luck the weekend after we can get the furniture and everything upstairs and my dining room will be back to normal-ish, it will still have the hall furniture in there, but compared to how it is now it should look like a palace!!

I started Christmas shopping yesterday. Starting to get in the magical mood now! I've normally finished everything by now, so I'm doing well!!!

Charleesunnysunsun · 09/09/2006 19:04

Evening

I brought a home doppler today so dp, ds and i have been listning in!

We went to the beach and ds played in the park and had an ice cream it really was the best family day out it reminds me why another baby is going to be so great!

dp and i are watching a dvd with a box of malteasers tonight so that should be really good as well, god these family things make me well up with all the hormones!

Just deciding what to have for dinner my enthusiasm for food has completley gone i just can't be bothered to eat a proper meal so find myself snacking on chocolate and fruit.

I suppose i had best get as much as rest as i can we have ds, dp, mil and fil's birthday next week it's going to be mad but were all going to the zoo next saturday and ds will really enjoy that and i do to!

podglet · 10/09/2006 09:16

Aw Charlee - that sounds like a lovely day! What a busy week you are going to have

It's my birthday too on Tuesday - am very excited as for a change, I have no idea what DP has bought me (mainly coz I couldn't give him any ideas as to what I wantd!)

Off to Iea with my Mum today

Hope everyone else is having a lovely weekend i the sunshine, take care all,

LeBe · 10/09/2006 16:38

Hi everyone

HopingCat - Thanks for putting that thread on there i think i will do as suggested and just get a big bag that i can use afterwards.

FHLG - sorry to hear about your problems still getting your stuff, i think it is a well known fact that shops are useless as this sort of thing even John Lewis!!

NJ - Sounds like a hectic weekend for you but it is nice when everything is sorted. I too have been sorting out the babies room and putting all his toys together. Also put his swinging chair together yesterday, i couldnt believe how complicated they make the instructions!! But im hoping it will be a godsend when lo arrives.

Charlee - Sounds like you have had a good weekend too, it is nice to go and do things together for the day, im looking forward to doing that when i leave work and have more time (3 weeks - yey) as at the moment weekends are spent visiting various family members.

Mygirl - thanks for the reassurence that im not the only one, i have had some pains and not worried to much but this was much worse and i was actually a bit frightened, they have now said it may be my endometriosis scars strtching cos the baby has had another growth spurt! I have got my pram but i am just going to get a nice normal bag now instead.

Podglet - Happy Birthday for Tues and hope you get some nice stuff from Ikea.

Its nice to hear everyone is having a good weekend, My Mums cooking my tea again - bless!! x

youngmum21 · 10/09/2006 17:01

Hi all,

Havent been n for a while!!!

Nataliejane just a word of advice i was given by my midwife on pelvic fool exercise dont do it when you go for a wee becuz it goes back in to your kidneys and can cause infection x

Charleesunnysunsun · 10/09/2006 17:25

Afternoon

Podglet - Did you ask your midwife about the itching? I hope you got it sorted.

Im doing ok today some painfull Braxton Hicks right down into my bottom! Luckily there not regular!

Another personal question! sorry! Is anyone else going to do peranium massage to reduce the risk of tearing? My midwife says apparently if you do it with oil its supposed to help it stretch rather than tear and reduce the chance of needing an episiotomy.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend

Mummy2Toby · 10/09/2006 21:22

Hi guys - just a quick pop on to see how everyone is doing.
My BH are quite a regular thing now - I think I must be trying to do too much - and I also can't face a full meal (or the thought of cooking) but I have to do it for dh!
I have got a great little bag for when the baby gets here, but then as I have said before - I have started as a rep for Early Essentials here so I can get things a bit cheaper and at the risk of repeating myself, if anybody wants something from the site, CAT me or post on here and I could probably get a discount for you too every penny helps
On another note completly, those with older children, have your lo's started waking up really early in the mornings? my ds has always slept well and not woken until 7:30am at the earliest but lately he has been getting up at about %:30/6:00am ish and it is killing me - can anyone think of a reason? And I have still not decided on what to do about the double buggy am trying my hardest to find a uk stockist so I can try it in my car etc - then I think I will order it from abroad. Anyway - so much for a quick post - Take Care all

mummy2toby... my ds has taken to wakeing between 5 and 5.30, it's killing me aswell, i don't know why and i don't know how to stop it... he's always slept so well, bed at 6.30 up at 7.30 then it started getting earlier and earlier! i'm very grateful that dp doesnt start work till 11.30 so i can go back to bed!!
what pushchair are you getting?? it sounds very special!! i'm going for the phil&teds e3 double.. can't wait to order it and have a play about!!

start annual leave next week, only 8 more shifts to do (not that i'm counting) so busy today, i'm too tired to run round after others... i wannna be looked after now!!

Charleesunnysunsun · 11/09/2006 07:26

Morning

MGLP- I do get pains down below i think it's the baby on the cervix apparently you can feel that especially if its a leg or arm! DP get alarmed if i say things like that though incase a small foot pop's out or something!

I got woken up at 6am this morning with ds, he usually sleeps untill at least 7am but he went to bed early yesterday.

I'm getting so many kicks and thumps now although there smaller IYSWIM, kind or little bumps rather than great big hits. Poor thing is running out of room

LeBe · 11/09/2006 09:41

Good morning all.

Glad everyone had a nice weekend, I was going to do the perinuim (sp?) massage cos im terrified of tearing and having to be stitched up, but i was told not to do it until 36 weeks, plus im not sure which oil to use. But i do agree a back and foot massage would be lovely!!
Is anyone else not having the pram in the house until the baby is born? I know its an old wives tale but I was told it is bad luck so mine is sat at MIL's house, its a bit annoying cos i would like to play around and get used to working it but i dont want to tempt fate.
I slept quite well but still so tired today and got a feeling its gonna be a busy one and have no energy! Oh well wish me luck! x

LeBe · 11/09/2006 10:18

Sorry forgot to add, ive got that pain again like last week and it is worrying me a bit, just wondered if anyone else has had the same. Its a bit hard to explain but its like a really sharp pain (bit like wind but more severe) and it low down in my belly but deep inside and it is constantly there, but at the same time there is like a pressure down below as well and the baby seems to go mad and make it hurt even worse, any suggestions thanks xx

NatalieJane · 11/09/2006 10:32

Morning everyone My little boy has gone and grown up on me and has gone off to school with barely a goodbye to his poor old mum Of course it is fantastic that he has gone in and got on with it, but I at least would have liked a 'see ya later mum' but nope, too busy catching up with 'the boys' from nursery (and eyeing up his little girlfriend no doubt!!)

Came home and the babies gym and mat thing had arrived, just finished playing with it and the travel cot/bassinette thing arrived, I have spent an hour trying to put the damn thing together, and I have thrown in the towel, I can get the shell of it put up and together, but I just can't get a bit to slide onto another bit and I am pretty much F'ed off with it now!! (Sorry ) So there I am, sweating buckets, swearing under my breath to myself, hair all over from spending the last hour hanging upside down in the travel cot trying to put the bloody thing together, and the postman knocks on the door with another parcel, I can't even be bothered to open it, I don't care what it is, I feel like doing a Nikki and all because my little baby boy didn't say goodbye!! God, I feel better now!!

Saturday night thought I was heading into labour, had BH all day, got to the evening and they were getting stronger and stronger, started timing them, every 3 minutes, then every two minutes, was sat at my MIL's waiting for my waters to go!! LOL Of course nothing happened, and they started to wear off on the way home, DH turned round and said, "I knew you weren't going in yet, there air didn't turn blue enough!!" LOL I am not normally a swearing sort of person, but apparently I spent my first labour doing nothing but swearing! LOL

I am rambling now, anything to take the time up today, I will be alright once I can go and pick him up and I know he has been OK all day.

Oh, we got most of the nursery painted yesterday, and we got all the skirting boards and everything, couldn't get the carpet, ran out of time, but there is always next weekend!

Right I am going now, if I come back a bit too much today, someone shout at me please!!

NatalieJane · 11/09/2006 10:36

OK so I am back already....!

Lebe, I get a very sharp pain running from the very top of my erm... girly bum (as DS calls it!!) to my belly button, but on the inside (not like a muscle pain) I can sort of feel it all the time, but sometimes when I move in certain ways it really hurts, and sometimes the baby kicks it and that really really hurts! Is that anything like what you get? Have you spoken to your midwife about it? (Sorry if you have already said!)

LeBe · 11/09/2006 10:43

NJ - The pain isnt really where you say yours is it is more like right at the bottom of my belly and all the way across if you see what i mean. When i had it last week it was evening so i rang the on-call mw but the phone was off so i rand delivery suite and went down, as i said they didnt know what it was and sods law it eased off when i got to the hospital so felt a bit of an idiot, im seeing my mw tom anyway so was gonna mention it then, but it really hurts all the time!! x

NatalieJane · 11/09/2006 10:58

Oh, that's right I remember you saying now! I wonder if it could be the head engaging? It does normally happen a little later (I think) but doesn't mean that you will go into labour any time soon, so don't panic!! It might just be popping in and then sliding back out again whilst the baby still has a bit of room to practise?

If you are at all worried though, get onto your midwife today, I am sure she won't mind you wanting to put your mind at rest.

NatalieJane · 11/09/2006 11:00

Actually looking at the stats, you are due on the 6th so you are 32 weeks now?? I would say it is very likely to be the head coming down, as I said though, it doesn't mean you will go into labour anytime soon!!

LeBe · 11/09/2006 11:11

Do you think it might be that? I never thought of that really, but when i went to the hospital with it they said his foot was over on my left side i dont know if that would be possible if he was head down? Im not worried about going into labour (actually i am a bit) but more than that i will just be relieved to get it over with i've had enough if the pg thing now just want lo to hold now

LeBe · 11/09/2006 11:11
