velvet I work in a nursery and often failed to feel movement through the day but when i got home and sitting and relaxing, or even on my lunch break i started to feel more movement. I'm off work this week, so i am feeling a lot more movement throughout the day. I have also been having lots of stabby pains and the books all say it is normal, however if you are worried i would get it checked out, its better to be safe then sorry!

You could also try drinking an ice cold drink as i heard that can help babies move, not sure if it would work this early on.

As i was starving this pm after i left the hospital the only thing i had was hard candy and the baby went mental after i ate them!!

White that dress is lovely.

I got a couple of Maxi dresses from Primark! One was £8 and the other £12, and like the others, they are in my usual size, so can be worn again.

I am looking for a skirt in a similar style though for work. My office is like a sauna, and I am not allowed a fan as it will 'affect the ambient temperature of the building and prevent the cooling system working'. So trousers are far too warm, and I don't want to start wearing the dresses for work. Any ideas where I can get one?

I'm feeling sorry for myself today. Am almost 23 weeks and Im huge (will take a bump pic in the morning as it's always smaller in the morning). I've had backache all day and my bump is sore and quite hard. Added to that I'm shattered and am finding it hard to keep up with all my ususal duties at work.

Is it just me? Is it normal to feel like this? It just feels so early in to be flagging (and huge). How are you all finding work? Please reassure me!

By the way - lovely bump pictures and that maxi dress is fab!

Teabiscuits · 19/05/2014 19:13

Whilst we are on the subject of maxi dresses, a bit of advice from past experience - do not wear them to maternity appointments unless you are happy to show off your entire legs and knickers! Having to roll your dress up around your boobs and get on a couch so mw can have a listen is not very dignified!

Teabiscuits · 19/05/2014 19:15

polka sorry to hear you are feeling crappy, sometimes it's just pregnancy Sad . Hope you feel better soon.

I'm on phone so can't see any pics, I'm sure you all look fab though x

CumbrianExile · 19/05/2014 19:44

Thanks Ella Will have a look there.

Lol Tea I was thinking that myself!

Inbl00m · 19/05/2014 20:08

Polka I'm with you on the work front Sad How much longer have you got left?

Usually I love my job and look forward to going to the office but atm it feels impossible. I've had to have a few days off due to feeling rough and now feel behind and more stressed. At this point I don't see how I'll be able to do another 16 weeks Confused

Kt1991 · 19/05/2014 20:09

tea that happened to me yesterday! Quite embarassing but then all our dignity goes when you have a baby ;)
velvet sorry if I worried you, I agree with the others though if you are worried and its for more than 24 hours best to get checked, but the midwife I saw said that its quite common for the baby to change to a different position and be well cushioned in or hiding at the back so may not always feel much at times.
I brought these maternity shorts today from H n M, I've been given some maxi dresses from family members so not going to buy too much, but th

Kt1991 · 19/05/2014 20:11

Sorry hit send too soon!
But think I will have to buy lots of flip flops, as ankles swelling up already :(
I like your dress white :)

Ella I can sympathise with your stomach troubles! On Sat & Sun I woke up due to horrid stomach pains and had to quick foot it to the loo. Hadn't eaten anything unusual though so it did scare me a bit too. I was thinking that labour pains will be a million times worse so must get a grip!

I've got a couple of maxi dresses from Next, one maternity and one normal. I also find that the maternity one makes me look larger! DH said my arse looks like Kim Kardashian's in it Hmm I tried to take it as a compliment lol! Lovely bump whiteblossom and I really like your maxi dress! Where is it from?

Cookie I had a 16w MW appt and she didn't want to see me again till 25w, I suppose it just depends on your area/MW/personal circumstances.

Velvet if you are really worried and its affecting your day to day life I would go and get checked. Not good for you to feel anxious for long periods of time. But I'm pretty sure patterns of baby's movement don't necessarily settle till 28w so you're still quite early. At 21w I had only just started feeling odd little kicks myself. Just had my 25w appt and MW didn't specifically ask about movements either. It's hard but try not to worry :)

Sorry for mammoth post!! Grin

Topsyloulou · 19/05/2014 22:05

Velvet I have only just started to feel movement in the day when I'm busy at 23+3. I only ever used to feel it at night when sat down but over the last week he is moving lots more in the day. If you're worried give the midwife or hospital a call & ask their advice.

I got a really nice maternity patterned maxi dress from H&M for 12.99 & a plain black non maternity one from there for 11.99 which hopefully I can wear after. Love that dress white. Agree that bump definitely looks bigger in some clothes than others Ilove. Bump looked huge on Saturday but today at work he looked tiny as I had a loose top on.

My bump is so hard and tight now it feels like the skin on my back is pulling. Want to push it in for a bit to give my skin some relief. Think it's going to be a long 16 weeks until he arrives, especially if it stays this hot!

polkadotdelight · 19/05/2014 22:07

Thank you Tea and Inb00m. Im hoping to finish in the middle of August. I never thought Id be one of those glowing pregnant ladies who seem to bloom effortlessly throughout but I did think it would be easier at work than it has been. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.....

Nazly · 20/05/2014 00:36

White the dress is beautiful and you are a lovely size

I bought some second hand A lines dresses and loose tops from charity shops, after spending some money on new ones; I honestly like the second hand ones a lot better, not sure why, they fit better...

I am still feeling pretty good, no health problem at all, eating well, sleeping well and very good energy; I don't know how long it is going to go that way though... Is 26 W the begining of 3rd Trimester? If so then I have exactly one weel to 3rd trimester... :)

I had to take my wedding ring off because it was getting tight,,, anybody else had to do this as yet?

dontevenblink · 20/05/2014 03:14

Sat in hospital with 2yr old dc3 at mo, he started not being able to walk last night and crawling everywhere instead. Took him to gp this morning and she couldn't find anything wrong with legs but had pain in hip and abdomen so she rang hospital and they've now admitted us Sad Just really worried now as to what it could be, just had bloods and off for xray soon Sad

Bananapickle · 20/05/2014 06:51

nazly I had to take my rings off weeks ago, I had to last time too even though I haven't put on masses of weight I think my rings must just be in the tighter side anyway. I did think of buying a cheap ring to wear as I feel weird without them!

dontevenblink thinking of you guys. Really hope it's nothing serious with your little one and they manage to diagnose and treat quickly.

I was awoken at 1am with a jolt and it was baby kicking me REALLY hard, I was sure he was trying to escape out my bump. I've never had that before and I'm sure it won't be the last time.

Hope everyone has a great day.

xxmissbrightsidexx · 20/05/2014 08:26

Hi ladies Brew
Really nervous, consultant appointment today..
Hope we get answers, been the longest 3 weeks ever!
Have a good day xx

Missingcaffeine · 20/05/2014 08:38

don't even hope your child is okay.
I am off sick with tummy bug. Just feel sick and loose stools and had some cramping and exhausted since yesterday am. Luckily he is kicking lots so I know he's okay and I think I'm over the worst. I've only felt kicks for the last 4 days (I'm 22+3).

polka, inbloom & topsy I am still waiting for the second trimester 'feeling great'. I am normally so active and normally enjoy work but everything is such a struggle I don't know how I am going to manage through the rest of this pregnancy. I feel heavy and huge and uncomfortable in my own skin.
Even cleaning the house is an effort, and normally I enjoy it. The house is a mess. The garden is overgrown. I have a huge pile of washing and ironing. The fridge is empty. OH tries his best and has been doing all the cooking and shopping, and keeps the house tidy, but not clean. He doesn't seem to notice when the hoover or mop needs to come out!
Working full time and commuting into London is so hard, especially in the heat. It's hard to concentrate and deal with the stresses and pressures that I easily managed pre pregnancy. We were going to book a trip abroad June, but now I am thinking I can't handle any more heat than this, and it's only 23C!

Teabiscuits · 20/05/2014 09:19

missing I had a hideous bout of the winter vomiting virus (along the rest of the family) when I was only 6 weeks, and was a bit worried it would harm the pregnancy at such an early stage, but of course all was fine. Just keep yourself hydrated, hope you feel better soon x

donteven hope it's nothing serious and you get to go home soon x

missbright thinking of you today. The wait will soon be over, I really hope you get good news x

xxmissbrightsidexx · 20/05/2014 09:20

Thanks Tea xx

whiteblossom · 20/05/2014 09:27

missing I'd get used to that! Once the baby is here that's how it will be Grin Nothing will get done but you will want it done, its frustrating but don't beat yourself up, you can only do what you can do!

I recommend online supermkt shop to be delivered, do it in advance but they can deliver next day (sainsburys)

As for the cleaning, one the baby is here im gonna pay my mum to do my ironing and maybe get a cleaner in to do the bathroom/hoover/mop once a week.

Topmammy the dress is from Next Grin

don't even let us know how your little one is, fingers crossed all is ok. They are such a worry arnt they.
missb good luck, stay positive and huge hugs x

Today Im picking paint for the nursery and looking at curtain fabric. I like Designers guild elephant and castle in ocean. Nice and fresh looking. Thank god I can use a sewing machine as its bloody expensive. Ive seen a fab star light too in bhs just waiting for a discount day to buy it!

dontevenblink · 20/05/2014 09:34

Thanks for the good wishes, we are back home now after a very long day. X-rays and bloods were clear thank goodness, and they think he has irritable hip syndrome which should heal on its own, but if he develops a fever at all we have to go straight back. We've got to go back Thursday as well for them to check it. DS was so good, bless him, just so horrid seeing him in pain Sad So glad to be back home now and he seems far better now luckily.

Good luck with the appointment today missbrightside, will be thinking of you xx

ilovemonstersInc · 20/05/2014 09:48
