Sorry to hear about your pains amy246. Here's hoping it doesn't happen again. xx

Whiteblossom hope you are okay. Even if it was blood it may have been that your cervix was just a bit irritated or similar if it was only a few specks. I've had two (very light) bleeds so far this pregnancy (both in first trimester, though the second was at nearly 13 weeks) and both times it was absolutely fine, and baby is doing fine, so try not to worry unless it gets worse / happens again. xx

Had my midwives appointment today. All going fine with me and baby. And despite some of my work colleagues telling me how huge I am on an almost daily basis (it's frankly getting irritating now), midwife did her first measurement today and I am exactly the right size for the amount of weeks I am (24+6 now).

The only slight issue is that she saw that I had sent off my form for my NHS antenatal classes and had to tell me that the funding for all the upcoming classes has just been pulled, so there now won't be any! She was lovely and said that the local midwives themselves were very annoyed about it and had even tried to set up some classes themselves so help support local pregnant women, but had been told that they couldn't as it would mean that local women in my town would then be able to access antenatal classes and women under the same NHS trust in a different town still wouldn't, and that apparently isn't allowed as it wouldn't be deemed as fair on women in other areas. I'm a bit disappointed as I was rather relying on those classes to prepare me and DH a bit for birth / early parenthood, and I also was keen to meet some other local Mums for a bit of moral support. I'm thinking about doing the NCT classes but they are quite expensive (I think the cheapest essentials antenatal one is about £200). I'm not sure with all the other baby-related expense whether it's a worthwhile cost or not. Does anyone else have any experiences of them?

ilovemonstersInc · 03/06/2014 13:55

Blossom sorry to ask such question but have you dtd recently (past few days?) That can irritate the cervix likessomeone mentioned and cause a tiny literally streaky specy like discharge on wiping if that makes sense . Hope your ok x

topmammy · 03/06/2014 19:25

Aw sorry you had a stressful day white but as others have said it sounds as if you don't need to worry but just keep an eye out for it just incase.

Been on a school trip today, totally knackered now! Glad I've done one now though and not in july when I normally do.

Still nit free fingers crossed ! Grin

thanks everyone, the tiredness has kicked in and the rage has subsided! Ive not had anything to worry about in the knicker dept since this am which is a relief. Ive managed to resolve a few things going on this afternoon so that has helped but the calendar looks so full.

ilovemonstersInc · 03/06/2014 20:23

Flowers blossom hope your feeling better x.

Ella you can get tshirt maxis too which have short sleeves and are not big and flowy typical maxis. You could jazz them up with a statement necklace or something

Cindy5389 · 03/06/2014 21:24

Kitkat1985 - I am also annoyed that our choice of NHS classes are now fully booked and we told the mw at our 16w appt that we couldn't make the Aug classes so would need to book the July ones, and she didn't say anything about sending the form off early or anything just bring it to next appt. The price of the NCT classes r so expensive! Not sure what to do. My mum said to just turn up at the NHS classes in July and hope the don't turn u away. Being my first i feel I need to attend something as I don't have a clue what to expect from birth and baby's first few days!

KitKat1985 · 04/06/2014 10:38

Yeah, I'm the same as you cindy5389. It's first baby for me and DH, and neither of us know much about labour and babies. Confused I appreciate all babies are different but it would be good to at least feel confident with the basics. I'm in two minds about the NCT classes as I've heard some people say they are really useful and others say that there's nothing they teach you that you can't read about in a decent pregnancy book, and therefore not to bother given the cost of them. We already have a lot of money to pay out for to get everything ready for baby and what with various other things we're already stretched financially at the moment, and DH seems to be accumulating an increasingly large credit card bill (much to my annoyance, I hate credit cards and refuse to have one). I think realistically it's money we can't afford to spend right now, but the whole thing leaves me feeling unprepared as I was hoping for a bit of basic labour / baby guidance just to get us started. xx P.S I would second just turning up to the July classes and seeing what they say, but just be prepared for them to potentially turn you away. xx

Acorncat · 04/06/2014 11:19

I was also in 2 minds about NCT but decided not too. Just can't justify the costs. I was going to do the NHS ones in July but actually the august ones would be much more convenient as I'll have finished work already. Tho it means the last one will be the day after my due date Hmm. I'm not even sure how to book them, there's no number or email on the flyer the MW gave me Confused

Teabiscuits · 04/06/2014 13:21

Was admitted to the antenatal ward this morning as I'm weeing blood. Fabulous. Likely nasty kidney infection coupled with one kidney getting backed up. I'm still hopeful ill be home later. Hope everyone else is ok! x

FoodieMum3 · 04/06/2014 13:40

Ouch, hope you're ok teabiscuits. Nothing a dose of antibiotics can't sort out I'm sure.

ilovemonstersInc · 04/06/2014 14:56

Ooo tea sounds painful!! Get some fluids down you and some antibiotics x

Dorothy perkins have some in. They do next day too and they are only £16 other day there was an event on so even cheaper x

Teabiscuits · 04/06/2014 16:31

Thank you all. On antibiotics and spent the last 6 hours hooked up to a bag of fluid to try to flush it out. Had a renal scan, one kidney is backed up a bit, still waiting on bloods and the doctor to tell me if I can go home. On the plus side, my wee is no longer bright red! So hopefully it's getting better. I've had similar in the past but never this bad.

ella I know what you mean with the nesting but can't find the energy- so wishing I had the spare cash for a cleaner!

KitKat1985 · 04/06/2014 16:47

Hope you feel better soon teabiscuits. Thanks xxx

whiteblossom · 04/06/2014 18:00

polkadotdelight · 04/06/2014 19:48

Get better soon teabiscuits

topmammy · 04/06/2014 20:04

Hope you feel better v.soon teabiscuits! Cake

Had my 28w MW check up today followed by antenatal class about labour & birth. I knew some of it already from what my mum has told me but it felt reasurring to go through it and I found it useful. I do not like the sound of pethadine though. Thinking about having it put on my birth plan that I really dont want it unless as a last resort.

BP and urine all fine and she found baby's heartbeat straight away and it sounded really strong Grin. Had bloods taken too so hopefully they'll be ok.

Hope you're all doing ok :)

cookielove · 04/06/2014 20:43

Hello all, oh dear tea hope you feel better soon!!

The baby is kicking me in the foof and it really hurts!!

DearDinah · 04/06/2014 21:02

Thanks teabiscuits

DearDinah · 04/06/2014 21:05

topmammy my friend swears by pethadine, I'd really like to be drug free but expecting it won't pan out like that!
Good to hear alls well.
cookie ouch! I'm still getting all kicks low down

topmammy · 04/06/2014 21:35

I'm not ruling out pethadine completely but would rather avoid it as id feel really unhappy if baby was unable to feed properly straight away due to the pethadine in her making her really sleepy. Apparently baby's have been found to still have it in their system up to a month old! Might need to have it though, who knows!

Bananapickle · 04/06/2014 21:49

teabiscuits hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

ella I got a nice t-shirt maxi dress from Matalan if you have one near you. Is really comfy but easily jazzed up if needed.

On the pethadine discussion I had it during my first labour and I would have it again. Although I was also advised not to have a full dose as I'm only 5'3" and not particularly big. It didn't effect my DD feeding at all, I gave her the first feed within half an hour of her being born. I think it's like all drugs, they effect people differently and you won't necessarily know until you've tried it.

The other thing I'd say from my experience of my first was to not be a hero. If you need pain relief take it! When all is said and done the important thing is that your baby is born and you make it through it in the best way you can. I was all up for a drug free birth (other then gas and air!) but when it's happening you just have to go with the flow. I guess I'm just trying to say don't put expectations on yourselves that make no difference in the long run and that you may feel disappointed about if you put too much weight on not using a particular pain relief etc.

Sorry went off on one!

Hope everyone is having a good evening.

dontevenblink · 04/06/2014 22:31

Hope you're feeling better teabiscuits and that you've managed to get home now Flowers
