Congratulations ilove!

Missingcaffeine · 20/05/2014 10:27

Congratulations ilove! That's so exciting! I was on a high after passing my test for ages.
white that material is lovely. I'm just deciding on colour schemes. We are having a boy but I want to paint the room a pale yellow at the moment. OH is insisting room should be sophisticated and no need for anything to be childish or in bright colours. I think bright colours are great for a baby. Our first baby disagreement. Oh apart from he wants to name our baby after an action hero. How many of you have chosen names already?
Good luck missb

cookielove · 20/05/2014 10:50

missing which superhero? The only name dh and I agree on is Finn, are surname starts with an S and cause we are cruel cruel parents we would like a middle name to start with F so his intials would be FFS Blush Grin

holls2000 · 20/05/2014 12:07

Congratulations ilove !!!

missb have got everything crossed for you.

We have girl's name sorted, boy's name....erm, let's say DH wants one thing (which would make the poor child sound like it'd popped out wearing a flat cap, slippers, smoking a pipe) and I want another. The difference is that I HATE the name he likes, but he quite likes the name I do. Oh, and the family all have an opinion. Why we thought we would be able to discuss it with them without them having an opinion, I don't know. My Mum sent me an email where 4, yes, 4, paragraphs were dedicated to her ideas for names. Jeepers.

polkadotdelight · 20/05/2014 13:17

Congratulations Ilove!

Acorncat · 20/05/2014 13:42

Congrats ilove

I haven't found any names I like. I seriously think we'll be picking something at random on the day we have to register him Sad

I've still not thought about decorating or bought anything apart from a pram. We have ages to go. Right? Confused

xxmissbrightsidexx · 20/05/2014 14:39

What a farce that appointment was.. Was meant to be seen at 11.30, didn't get seen til 12.45, was told that the TORCH tests (whatever that means) came back clear, but still awaiting Cystic Fibrosis results which we should have by the end of the week. Booked in for a growth scan on 18th June, which we'll probably need every 4weeks. just nipped into my mw drop-in centre and explained that I just need reassurance etc cos haven't been seen for ages, she did the heartbeat etc and all that's fine, need to see her next at 25w. But she told me as well that they might need to deliver baby early, and I might need to go to Manchester for a second opinion? That's gonna be hard for me cos we don't have transport and live in blackpool. So things just feel scary atm I'm finding it hard to be excited while all this is up in the air :(

whiteblossom · 20/05/2014 14:53

oh bloody hell missb how upsetting and frustrating for you!! Did they not explain what the torch test was? So another week of waiting. I could scream on your behalf. Glad the heartbeat is all well, focus on the positive, They are keeping an eye on you just to be sure. Have they said you MUST go to Manchester- how can they say that when they don't have any answers yet?

We are painting now as I read that the room needs 3 months after painting to air off fumes ready for newborn.

I have to know which superhero please tell Gin why does super ted and banana man come to mind lol. Clark kent? what was spider man called hehe this could go on for the entire thread..

ilove yeah well done, beep beep watch out monstersinc is about Grin

DH cant or wont think of names- girls we have no problem with and we agree on those but boys...pheweee no chance. I only have one fav boys name but dh dosent really like it, I don't think he hates it though...and given that he cant think of ANY, im kinda thinking that this is what the baby is called.

hope this helps miss b

ilovemonstersInc · 20/05/2014 16:17

Missb if it helps im at Manchester and they are brilliant. They are a specialist hospital for pregnant women so they know what they are doing. They might be able to arrange transport if you cant if you have ti be referred?

Damper put on the day. Our insurance company whom I was Insured with for learning want an extra 500 of us. When we go insurance for our car 5months ago they said nothing about paying more after passing:(
where the fuck am I going to get that from :(

velvetlilithi · 20/05/2014 17:13

So, Today I was at hospital to check why baby's not moving in last days. I've got to hear heartbeat, which reassured quite a lot and was told that it's because of my placenta and baby's just playing hide&seek Smile . Naughty little boy, scaring his mommy so much Grin .

Just hope he'll move to a better position soon as I enjoy all the kicking and wriggling. Now I'm missing it!

Congrats ilove.

dontblink, hope your boy gonna be okay and it's nothing serious, bless him.

cookielove · 20/05/2014 17:27

Ilove i can't believe they are upping by £500 that is ridculous, can you look at the t&c's?

Velvet was thinking of you today, so glad all is well.

missbright wow what alot of turmoil they are putting you through, i don't have the same issues however my baby may inherit a genetic condition from me which is making us worry (although trying to put it to the back of our minds) so i think i a have a good idea of what you are going through. If you ever want to pm, and have a chat i'll always be here :)

That goes for everyone to, as i have had genetic counselling and all sorts so i can be a good sounding board if nothing else :)

Baby decided to scare me today, and stop moving (been out shopping) as soon as i get home, put my feet up he is all about the kicking Grin

white By action hero I mean: Arnie, Sylvester, Bruce, Jason - if you catch my drift. Not exactly the category of names I was considering.
That's a good idea about shopping online and getting a cleaner. Although OH did say if I wrote him a list of jobs, he'd work through it.
holls I've decided not to tell anyone about our shortlist of names, especially the grandparents. They will have too many opinions! That email sounds epic!
acorn I haven't started shopping at all either! It still feels so early and I have nowhere to store anything like a pushchair until we have decorated. I'm only considering decorating now because the house is a mess and we stripped off the old lady wall paper ages ago in multiple rooms and have just left it since but finally got the plasterer in to skim it. white that's interesting about the paint fumes as I would have thought a week would be plenty of time.
missb It sounds like a stressful day. I hope you can find a way to relax this-evening after all that.
Ilove that's a but gutting. It might be worth shopping around and changing insurer, even if you have to pay a penalty?

Apparently the kicking pattern doesn't become regular until much later, like 28 weeks. My kicks are very irregular so far (only 5 days). Some days loads, other days hardly any.

amy246 · 20/05/2014 18:12

Missbrightside: a TORCH test looks for a variety of infectious diseases which can cause birth defects. It basically screens your blood for different infections, eg toxoplasmosis. Hope that helps x

topmammy · 20/05/2014 18:14

I'm also planning on paying my mum to do my ironing white ! No wonder I like your dress, the only clothes that I like these days and that fit me seem to always be from Next Grin

BIG congrats ilove on passing your test. Insurance companies are a pain in the bum though :( My insurance cost has decreased pretty much every year since I passed though.

Sorry to hear about your frustrating appt missbright I hope you get answers v.soon.

My DH and his mum have been painting the nursery today while I was at work. We've gone for white walls with one wall a pale pink. Then we'll accessorise with wall stickers and a blind and curtain etc.Grin

xxmissbrightsidexx · 20/05/2014 18:46

Thanks ladies. Just hate not knowing what's going on with my baby. Mw said we might not know what's wrong until she's born and they do all the newborn checks etc, or she could have nothing wrong with her at all. Just feels like a black clouds hanging over atm, trying to stay positive though xx

lilone1234 · 20/05/2014 18:52

missb I'm sorry about the troubles you're having - the last thing you need is more worry! I hope it starts to get better!

My DP has finally pretty much finished painting our baby room white (work in progress since before I was pregnant in November!!) There's some wires sticking out the wall I need to get rid of and i'm going to paint a shelf bright pink but then I am also going down the wall sticker route! Seen some lovely ones on notonthehighstreet.com (if a bit pricey!)

So today I picked up the box of washing powder and the bottom fell through and all my washing powder fell in the sink lol - I stayed miraculously calm. Grin

missbright hand holding

holls2000 · 20/05/2014 19:05

Well, miniholls has been quite wiggly all day, then I bumped my ribs on the piano in my classroom and it's gone a bit quiet. I'm hoping it just is cos it's having a snooze! The bump was not near my bump, if you see what I mean.

ilovemonstersInc · 20/05/2014 20:41

I told them to leave it how it is on learners but legally they cant so I have 2 weeks to decide if im paying or if im cancelling and going elsewhere. If we pay the 500 it will be 3k for 10months! that we've paid and the car wasnt that much! If we cancel its something like 90 and we get 1k back. We've done 5months and I think we should just stick to it as I cant find anything lower with a low excess (lowest for me and dh was 2400 with excess of 3k!) Robbing bastards!
It was nice that he picked my panic up over the phone and has give me 2weeks and im insured to drive in the mean time x

ilovemonstersInc · 20/05/2014 20:45

Missb hand holding x

ladies you can some nice wall stickers from eBay prettycheap aand home bargains and bnm do them even cheaper have look!

topmammy · 20/05/2014 20:57

3k?! Blooming heck that is a lot ilove I can't remember how much mine was exactly when I passed my test when I was 18 but don't think it was that much. :( You're right they are robbing bastards.

I feel really old now thinking back to when I was 18 lol.

lilone I like the wall stickers from that website, very nice. Not sure about ordering from abroad though.

This is a bit of an embarassing question but is anyone else having, ahem, 'rude' dreams. I've had very naughty dreams on two consecutive nights now, involving my DH of course! Blush Not at all interested in DTD in waking hours though! Hehe.

cookielove · 20/05/2014 21:01

I'm sorry ilove that seems extortionate! How long has your oh been driving? When I first passed it was 18 hundred! Now it's only 3-400.

Topsyloulou · 20/05/2014 21:37

Well done Ilove. I work in insurance & unfortunately when you pass your test you're deemed a higher risk as you are out on your own & not supervised. Once you've been driving a year it will start to come down but it's a bit hard to swallow to start with.

Missb thinking of you, sorry you didn't get all the answers today. Hopefully they will be able to tell you more at your next scan.

Don't even hope your little boy is on the mend, must have been very worrying for you all.

We're going down the wall stickers route too. DP painted the nursery a nice neutral colour last year & it had new light brown carpet & curtains so don't want to change any of that. My boss has given me some lovely jungle stickers that she ordered by mistake so decoration all sorted.

Amazon have got 20% off a lot of their baby stuff at the moment & you get an extra 5% if you sign up for the Amazon family 3 month trial & you get free next day delivery as part of that too. Just got the tommee tippee nappy disposal system for £8!
