Hi all, just checking in as it's been a while. All is well with me and the twins, but I have so many appointments I feel like I'm living at the hospital! I'm 22+5 now, and have been told that I am unlikely to go past 36 weeks (which would be 11 August), so only up to 13 more weeks to go. I'm putting the finishing touches on the nursery, organising baby clothes, and starting to pack my hospital bag as there is a chance things could suddenly happen much sooner; there were identical twins delivered at my hospital just this week at 25 weeks, which freaked me out a bit!

I started a multiples antenatal class at our hospital this week, which has been helpful in getting me thinking about the birth. There's no point in developing a detailed birth plan with twins, but I'm planning to attempt a vaginal birth if twin 1 stays head down, otherwise I will need a c-section. But even if I get to deliver vaginally, it will be very different than my home water birth with DS - much more medicalised. I got a good look at all the equipment at the class, and we will tour the operating theatre and the SCBU/NICU, which should all help me visualise what could happen and feel more prepared.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Off to catch up on the thread!

topmammy · 10/05/2014 11:28

Those Next baby clothes look lovely ilove Next is where I buy most of my clothes from anyway so I don't know why it hasn't occurred to me yet to look in their baby section! Ha! Don't they have a sale in July? I might wait till then.

Well Mothercare (via City link) have finally delivered the wardrobe for my nursery!! Took since 22nd April to sort it out and many wasted days sat in the house for my DH and fruitless phone calls. The boxes had oil all over them too Hmm. Never buying a big item from them again!

missbright I have times when I can't feel baby move much at all but then the next day it feels like she is Irish dancing on my bladder. There's still lots of room for them to move around at this stage so I have read, so more places to hide! Keep an eye on it but try not to worry straight away :)

I am still clueless which travel system to buy Confused but I have decided I want the maxi cosi pebble car seat. I have a 3door car so I'm thinking it would be less bending for me if I had one of those isofix bases too. Anyone find strapping in this car seat with the seat belt just as easy though??

karigan · 10/05/2014 12:56

Had my scan yesterday. It's a girl! (I was really convinced that it was a boy so I was slightly concerned beforehand that I'd be disappointed if it wasn't - but I was just really happy)

The ultrasound technician was really nice and talked us through all the checks and pointed out what everything she was looking at was- really nice to have someone take that much time over what must be an average working day for them. :)

cookielove · 10/05/2014 15:04

topmammy you need to make sure that you car takes an isofix base before you buy. I have used a seat belt for my nephew and its a bit of a faff but once you get the hang of it it will be ok. And if you put them in the front with the airbag off it wouldn't be such a pain.

topmammy · 10/05/2014 15:29

Thanks cookie I will check my car manual. It's a newish car (2012) so hopefully it has the isofix points.

I think I may have felt BH earlier. Or if not that then baby turned or jabbed me. Felt so weird, not like kicks I've felt and it made me wince for a second or two. Same feeling I felt last week while teaching but not had again till today. Like an electric shock is the closest thing to describe it as.

Anyone know if BH can be focused in one place or is it a more general all over bump thing?

xxmissbrightsidexx · 10/05/2014 16:36

I didn't feel anything yesterday and haven't felt anything yet either, I've noticed a pattern of kicks in the morning, in the afternoon when I eat, and late at night
So will give it a bit longer and if still nothing then I'm calling my midwife x

xxmissbrightsidexx · 10/05/2014 16:38

teabiscuits I can usually feel where she is too cos my frames small, that's why I'm freaking cos usually if i give a little prod then I get something back x

whiteblossom · 10/05/2014 17:08

Missb have you tried chocolate and a lie down flat.

I have the same pattern-normally but the last few days while I have felt movement, this pattern has disappeared. I suspect baby has turned inwards with its back down low (very uncomfy). This afternoon Ive felt some huge inward kicks making me wince out loud.

Ive finally finished decorating yay! Well for now anyway, room one finished and Im done in! new carpet going in next week- then I can start on the nursery. urgh, Ive really had enough of decorating!

Has anyone bought a maternity maxi dress/skirt?

congrats on all the scans xx

topmammy · 10/05/2014 17:31

I've bought a black maternity maxi dress from next whiteblossom. It's really comfy. Just waiting for the sunshine to wear it now :)

WishUponAStar88 · 10/05/2014 17:38

I've been lost on the list as haven't been on here for while but have been intermittently on these threads from the first one! I'm not due until the end of September and still haven't had my scan so feeling very behind a lot of you ladies! Great to hear of happy scans and jealous of all the shopping (determined to wait until after the scan!)
I was wondering when you all felt movement? I'm getting worried that I've felt nothing and I'm 19+5 :( first baby but slim build so people kept telling me I'd feel the baby earlier.

Lottiedoubtie · 10/05/2014 17:52

Some days I feel the baby move more than others. My MW said don't expect a pattern until 25 weeks.

I also have complete inertia when it comes to buying baby stuff, can't bring myself to actually do it, not sure why!

CordeliaScott · 10/05/2014 18:36

I wouldn't worry too much wishuponastar88. I'm slim with my first and didn't feel much at that stage either. At my 20 week scan I could physically see it moving but felt nothing even with a posterior placenta.

ilovemonstersInc · 10/05/2014 18:41

Thought id mention that boots have baby event on! Some good offers on bottle starter sets, wipes etc....

feel very worn out today, feel like ive over done it a little today. Been driving (very stressful lesson on dual carriageways) then cleaning, then feeding kids anf off out food shopping. Feel fucked. Our food shopping consists of more than 2 supermarkets.

Going to ring triage and see if results are in

velvetlilithi · 10/05/2014 20:12

cookielove That's me who's having scan on Monday! Originally partner worried he won't be able to make it, but he's coming with me so super excited we'll see our baby again and together. And find out sex of baby as well! Then we finally want to plan nursery and start buying everything.

Question for everyone:
Can anyone recommend me any pushchair/travel system with large air wheels and the old-type suspension+spacious carrycot up to £300???

I spent hours and hours searching and can't find anything that would look as a good quality. There are couple of types on Amazon, but not sure what brand is it or quality, check it here:

www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Pushchair-Stroller-Premium-product/dp/B00632YHWG/ref=br_it_dp_o_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2VUE41MWIE9TA&coliid=I7YLUQTYHZB46

What would you say about these? I want something sturdy and safe.

Do you know about any other pushchairs with these features?

I'll be happy for any recommendation or advice. Thank you :)

ilovemonstersInc · 10/05/2014 20:24

waffles I rang triage and the mw said I cant give results over the phone. I explained its been done before which it has in last pregnancy and she said I can check if they are in and if anything is wrong will send a letter to you and gp. Didnt get what she said after that.
Did you ever work with a lesley? Saw her on triage (both times ive been) and both times the other mw werebitching behind her back, dont want tto be rude butshe was rather moody.

velvetlilithi · 10/05/2014 20:25

Ohh forgot. I feel movement for over a week. But first just little tickling, like butterflies in my tummy. But last 3 days it changed for strong kicks. And it started just when both me and my partner were lying on the sofa and he had his hand on my belly.

So happy he could feel that as well. From that moment it's very often through the day, specially when i'm relaxed and calmly lying on the sofa.

It's so incredible feeling (sometimes not very pleasant feeling, but still amazing). I look forward to every kick!!!

ilovemonstersInc · 10/05/2014 20:26

Velvet look on ebay for quinny
The links you have dont look too sturdy

ilovemonstersInc · 10/05/2014 20:26

Ohh and bounty offer page

velvetlilithi · 10/05/2014 20:31

Thanks ilove .. I've checked ebay already and all pushchairs other users here recommended, but the quinny has a very small front wheels and also in the middle which I don't like.

I'm more for pushchair with 4 large wheels, really like the old chassis from my childhood :) I know I'm choosy, I just feel like that's the right think for my baby tho'.

cookielove · 10/05/2014 21:05

velvet we got a quinny buzz on ebay for £150 its really good quality, and very sturdy. We didn't get a carrycot, (for our own personal reasons) but you could very easily buy 2nd hand instead.

Also never heard of any of those you have selected!

this looks like a good deal but not seen it in person

DownstairsMixUp · 10/05/2014 21:05

Wishuponastar It seems quite normal for a lot of first time mums to not feel anything till in the 20's so I wouldn't worry too much! Easier said than done but it's true. If your worried, invest in a doppler to check the hb when you like, easy to find now were a little later on!

Congrats karigan on your baby girl :)

Matalan have loads of good baby bits at the mo, I did a good stock up today while I was there, lots and lots of cute baby outfits!

Have been getting excited myself as ds will be 5 in June 2015 (when i get married) and ds2 will be about 10 months so I have already been looking at matching suits for them to wear. Blush

cookielove · 10/05/2014 21:25

I have eaten way to many prawn cocktail crisps today

dontevenblink · 10/05/2014 22:39

velvetlilithi sounds like the Silver Cross Sleepover would be ideal for what you want. We had this for DC1 and loved it, DH really wanted a solid traditional pram that he could rock Grin and it was ideal. (Unfortunately we had to change it for a double when DC2 was born as they are close together).
They are very expensive new:
www.johnlewis.com/silver-cross-sleepover-elegance-body-black-cream/p231467594
but we got ours second hand off ebay for under £100 and it was in immaculate condition :) Just did a search on ebay and there were loads of really nice ones on there:
www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1311.R1.TR7.TRC1.A0.H0.Xsilver+cross+sl&_nkw=silvercross+sleepover&_sacat=0&_from=R40
They are so comfy for baby to sleep in and lots come with a stand so you can use it as a bassinet as well.

I've just started feeling proper movement this week at 22 weeks with DC4 so I wouldn't worry too much about not feeling movement earlier - my anterior placenta was blocking most and I still only feel movements around the edge of my bump where there isn't any placenta! I've been feeling very excited to finally feel the baby though Grin

waffles1990 · 10/05/2014 22:46

ilove yeah I worked with a Lesley, dark hair and on the 'plumper' side? She was always lovely when I worked with her, that's odd. Maybe she's got something going on at the minute I know her daughter was quite ill recently.

Regarding ur results, if it was anything nasty they'd ring you and/or ask you to come in so don't worry about that
