I just got the silvercross 3d pram. After ds i wasn't too bothered about what pram i got tbh, i know i tend to get bored and want a new one after a few months! I have invested in a sling this time though. DS starts school in september (ds2 due 5th september) so at least I'll have some time to myself in them first few weeks!

BooSurprise · 09/05/2014 10:08

Gosh, I can't believe it's been over a week since I last caught up, I'm not sure where I'm spending all my time, or even what I'm doing with it!
Anyway had 20 week scan last Friday, and after a long do we/don't we conversation and even telling the sonographer we didn't really want to know, DH changed his mind as they said scan was so obvious, and we're team blue, very excited for DH as I know he really wanted a boy, I'm relieved that he won't be dissapointed, and pretty excited too. I've already done a bit of shopping Wink.
My plan now is to have a massive sort out of all the girls clothes in our loft- and there are lots, so if anyone would be interested, let me know, by PM, I can always send pictures and would remove the ebay hassle for me Grin, then I need to start sorting the bedrooms.
ilove I hope your pain is sorted soon, sorry I can't remember the other bit I was going to comment on.

I used the maxi cosi cabriofix with dc2, and will just be using it again this time. I've ordered my buggy already, I didn't want a big travel system and much prefer strollers so I just got a cosatto twin buggy; www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3788013.htm then once dc2 gets bigger I'll use her single buggies for dc3.

Aside from the double buggy, I don't need to buy anything for this baby as I already have everything from dc2, she's only 11 months now so I've kept everything and it's all in good condition. I'm keeping the sex a surprise too so can only buy neutral clothes just now. I love baby shopping too so am feeling a bit deflated that I can't go out and buy some nice new things as I've already got everything.

I'm going to splash out though since I've nothing else to buy and get a cocoonababy for the early days, it can be put straight in the cot and will hopefully mean baby sleeps a bit better. www.amazon.co.uk/Castle-CocoonaBaby-Includes-Fitted-Sheet/dp/B0015KMAKM Has anyone with other dc tried this before?

CoolCat2014 · 09/05/2014 13:20

We are looking at the uppababy vista system. It's great, but I'm a bit nervous of spending so much money! Met someone who has is and still using for her 18 month old, which is what I'm really hoping for, and hoping that it will do of future children also. Haven't decided on car seat yet, though will prob be pebble or cabriofix!

Teabiscuits · 09/05/2014 13:20

ilove thinking of you. Really hope it gets better soon x

waffles I got the obaby sexy too! We mainly got it though because you can get a tandem kit to turn it into a very compact double, which I need for getting on buses and things as I don't drive. I liked the bright colours too, got ours before scan, I wanted red but DH liked the green so we went for that, as he doesn't get to choose much!

I'm on the lookout for colourful baby girl clothes now. I can't be doing with the endless sea of washed out pink. I don't mind it, it's just that just about everything for newborn girls seems to be that colour!

Teabiscuits · 09/05/2014 13:21

Ha ha autocorrect fail! Obaby Zezu! Not sexy! Blush

polkadotdelight · 09/05/2014 13:33

Im so tired. Roll on 5pm!

Acorncat · 09/05/2014 14:00

waffles I've also just bought the obaby zezu! It gets delivered today. We went for black dotty after a arguement discussion about whether purple and red were too girly. I looked at a few others but hoping this one will be fine.

I seem to be alone in planning to get a britax dualfix and not bother with a baby car seat - I'm sure there's a reason people buy one though...

ilovemonstersInc · 09/05/2014 14:17

Babg girl clothes. I was looking at boys too on [[www.next.co.uk next]] they wash sooooo good! I have stuff from ds1 thats washed really good and have been passed on 4 year's on!

StrawberryGashes · 09/05/2014 14:49

teabiscuits have a look in the boys section too when you're baby clothes shopping, that's usually where all the nice colourful clothes are.

Topsyloulou · 09/05/2014 14:59

We've gone for the Brittax affinity travel system & probably going to go for the Brittax car seat that fits into it. Was tempted by the Dual fix but think we've decided against it as I have a 3 door car & it might be too awkward getting him in & out of it.

We loved the uppa baby vista until we tried it & found it quite fiddly to change between the car seat, carry cot etc. I'm 5'6 and I found the handle height slightly too high for me even at the shortest setting but it is a lovely system & very good quality. Would definitely have been our second choice.

misog2000 · 09/05/2014 15:03

Acorncat for me it's the ability to pop the car seat on the buggy frame if I'm just whizzing round the shops or popping somewhere really quick. I did look at the all in one seats but didn't want to lose this facility.

CoolCat2014 · 09/05/2014 16:41

Topsylou - height was part of what we love, I'm 5'10 and DH is 6'3! We ruled have the systems out purely on the fact the handles didn't extend enough!

lilone1234 · 09/05/2014 17:57

Hi guys! Online you can get 25% off NUK if you use the discount code 'YourBabyClub'. I bought a 2 in 1 baby thermometer, breast pads & a pack of 2 dummies - a few random bits that were on my list lol.

I'm scoping out a breast pump on amazon too. The avent electric one has quite good reviews and I have heard it is worth investing in an electric one. People have also said it helps to stimulate your supply. However, they are not cheap but I am planning to breastfeed and really hope i'll be able to give it a good go for around the first six months but want to be able to express too for a flexibility. Of course, I am not sure whether it will all go to plan but I want to be prepared. Does anyone have any thoughts/experiences with this?

Also, a friend messaged me today to say that 'her mate says' that I should ask for a strep B test as it can flag up treatment the baby may need when born. Whilst trying to avoid a quick and arsey reply involving asking whether her friend had medical qualifications and about the myriad of pregnancy worries, I had a quick google and from what I briefly read it can be given to the baby in labour if you carry it, which lots of women do, but it is quite rare and in most cases easily treated with antibiotics but can be quite serious too. Apparently it's not routinely tested for because testing is not very reliable. Anyone have any experiences or knowledge with this either?

bugoven · 09/05/2014 19:07

Another OBABY here bjt I've gone for the Monty travel system. Was £72.50 online from boots!

Topsyloulou · 09/05/2014 19:12

Coolcat it will be perfect for you then!

cookielove · 09/05/2014 19:41

Hello, I have my scan on Wednesday :) can't remember who mentioned it but someone has one on Monday, eeek exciting!

Dh and I still struggling for names eek!

misog2000 · 09/05/2014 20:37

T'is me on Monday Cookielove, scared and excited at the same time, hope yours goes well

waffles1990 · 09/05/2014 22:35

Teabiscuits OBaby Sexy hahaha I nearly spat my drink out reading that!! Yay for the Zezu Pramette club haha

Ilove Glad to hear infection is ruled out. I doubt the Tinzaparin is the cause, where have you been injecting?
The increased pressure sensation could be due to a weaker pelvic floor, seeing as you've had 2 fairly big babies any pressure (esp a growing uterus) could cause an assortment of pains on over stretched ligaments.
Tbh I can't really say why your uterus appears to be irritable, it'd just be guesswork on my part. I wish I could help you more. Just make sure you mention it is a big issue at your next antenatal appointment.

lilone Your friend was referring to the test for Group B Strep (GBS) It's found in around 25% of women, existing with no problems in the digestive and genital tract. IF a woman has it, it may pass to the baby during a vaginal delivery (not csection as baby doesnt come into contact with vagina) It isn't routinely screened for, but in pregnancy if you have a urine sample sent off to the lab (not just dipsticked) or a vaginal swab, it may be picked up. You'd then be offered antibiotics (IV) in labour and if this isn't possible then the baby would receive IV antibiotics once born until a blood test confirms they haven't got GBS.

The argument for not routinely screening women is that GBS can occur whenever, therefore if a woman was screened at her booking appointment as 'clear' she could very well not be clear by the end of pregnancy. There's a big debate about it tbh!! It is very rare that babies are affected by an undiagnosed GBS infection. I'd say just be vigilant when baby is born (not that a new mother needs telling!) for excessive sleepiness, paleness, anything that worries you and baby can be examined.

There are private testing kits available, not sure of the price. But personally I wouldn't have one, and that's coming from a Midwife. But obviously it's what you think, have a look at the research

xxmissbrightsidexx · 10/05/2014 09:46

Morning ladies Brew
Hope everyones okay.
My anxiety levels are through the roof so much it's making me ill, didn't feel baby move yesterday and haven't felt her this morning, drank cold drinks and sat with feet up etc, nothing. Do you reckon she's just changed position or just being lazy or something? Worrying myself about her so much as it is atm, and now this, im a nervous wreck x

amy246 · 10/05/2014 09:46

Lab always test for group b strep on all urine and vaginal swabs, particularly from women of child bearing age.

marie1w · 10/05/2014 10:00

Hi all
miss bright side I know how you feel. Had been really anxious about lack of movement for a few days, but received my first kick in the bladder at 4am this morning. Never had that before so assuming baby has moved around. Had several since and it's not a great feeling but is reassuring!

I have found what looks like a good offer for a quinny modd travel system on bounty website. Any1 got any idea what there like? Reviews look good but still expensive on offer!

Nazly · 10/05/2014 10:37

Missbright, I def get some hours on inactivity in between kicks; have you found a pattern of movement yet? I would give it a whole day at least before starting to worry... Mine only start moving if I keep still for a long time...

Marie I saw quinny mood in kiddicare, it looked very steady and proper; I only thought it was a bit big... I think for that sort of price you def want to look closely in shop before buying...

Ladies I am having a big clear out to make room for our little one in our 2b flat; cant decide to go for ebay or charity though; on one hand could do with some money coming in with so much expenditure, but can't get my head around the time I need to put things on ebay... On the other hand charity is simple and quick and I can get on with other things I have to do then

lilone1234 · 10/05/2014 11:05

Thanks waffles that's really helpful.

missbright I worry too about periods of inactivity and concentrate so hard on trying to feel something but logically think it's most likely to be movement. I have one of those dopplers, got mine for £20 off amazon so if movement isn't much I have a listen. Did this yesterday and could hear heartbeat and what I imagine are movements and kicks, although I could not feel them at the time. A big fat kick is still most reassuring though!

Teabiscuits · 10/05/2014 11:06

ilove Those bits are lovely - going into town to buy an outfit for DD1 to wear for her birthday party, so i might have sneak into next :)

That's a good idea about the boys clothes, they do seem to have a better choice of colours!

missbright I can feel movements very easily most of the time now for much of the day but can't feel a thing when baby is sitting right down the bottom of my womb, (I'm fairly slim so can tell where baby is by feeling my tummy). Baby is likely just kicking where you can't feel - but my advice would be to go get checked if it is driving you mad with worry x
