Hi all,

New thread and probably our last in ante-natal.

Holy crap!

Welcome to May ladies. I'm sure we may have a few who pop early, so the month of hatching is upon us!!!

Starting to feel very real, my clothes horse is filled with baby clothes and blankets. All neutral, desperate to know what it is people keep telling me its a boy because its all out front.

Not sure I believe the old wife's tale!

Sussex31 · 01/05/2014 07:59

misshoohaa I know I am having a girl but haven't told people yet. Everyone who guesses says girl because I am carrying all out front.

I think there might be some confusion over that particular old wife's tale!

At the beginning of this week I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. No more nice things for me until the end of pregnancy :( Hopefully I can diet control it and will not need insulin and early induction...

Anyone else with gd?

Redcliff · 01/05/2014 08:18

I'm at risk of GD and there was some sugar in my sample last time so have tried to cut down on sweet treats but its so hard. My DP has been really good - he does all the shopping and has been getting lots of fruit and low fat yogurts but I just want chocolate !

mylittlel · 01/05/2014 09:25

question for you ladies- are you planning to buy a simple, fancy mobile or the one with music, lights etc? i mean to use straight away

morerummorefun · 01/05/2014 09:41

hi all wonder if I can join you for this last hurdle? im 34+4 due 8th june with my 2nd dc.
I have pgp and an irritable uterus so feeling a bit useless at the moment!

MarlenaGru · 01/05/2014 12:53

WElcome morerum Most of us are on FB - I think clever added the last person relatively easily if you are interested. The group is secret and private.

I am off to the midwife shortly but it is pouring. I feel the need to drive, but the parking is so bad I will probably end up walking miles anyway.

I think I am crazy. We had builders start on our loft yesterday. They assure us they will be done in 6 weeks. I am due in 7.5 weeks. We have yet to have a builder finish on time but it took 6 months from first attempting to get a quote to getting to this point so we decided to take the plunge. THat should mean the end of building for us for a while!!

morerummorefun · 01/05/2014 14:46

Marlena defo up for some fb action will patiently wait for my invite Grin.

CleverOl10 · 01/05/2014 18:27

hi more. private message me your email address and I'll add you to the fb group :)

Redcliff · 01/05/2014 19:24

Welcome more!

Mobiles - humm - not really considered getting on as baby will be in our room. My son was scared of lighted up stuff when he was a baby anyway so a flash one wouldn't have been popular . I do like those ones though - happy shopping.

Redcliff · 01/05/2014 19:26

Marlena - good luck with the builders . I have had some that have done work in the time frames they have given so hope you have the same !

SophiePickle · 02/05/2014 15:13

Help! I've peaked to soon and done EVERYTHING!

I lost my job in January, with a good pay off. So decided to work part time. Which was an absolute godsend after years of 50 hour weeks and late late nights.

So since January I've loved being able to potter around the house and make it all nice. By march I'd already deep cleaned and decorated the whole house. Plus I'd ebayed anything in my path.

There are still a few things left to do but the novelty's worn off now and I still have 7 weeks to go!

I can't really go any longer than 20 minutes without having to sit down and rest so I'm totally useless at work.

I'm just kind of knocking about the house...

Anything mega exciting I could be doing??

MarlenaGru · 02/05/2014 17:46

No advice Sophie I am desperate for mat leave to start but remember last time being bored stiff as I was too lazy to get up and do anything!

Boxsets? Knitting? Any online work you can do? Online shopping?

redcliff I really, really hope so! Our kitchen was about three weeks late... We do have a different builder this time and he does seem very efficient - they have done loads on 2 days! Still the stakes are a bit higher, especially as I am hoping for a home birth Shock

SophiePickle · 02/05/2014 18:13

Yes! There's still loads I could be doing but I'm too lazy! Just been to the gym to try and get some energy in me but I had to cut it short.

Think I'll knock it on the head now as I'm getting sick of people's 'well meaning' comments! I just want to get on with my workout!

Redcliff · 02/05/2014 20:56

I 2nd the box set idea or Netflix? I used to play the sims and found that a great way to kill time.

M
I'm also hoping for a home birth and can see that it could be a problem with builders around !

Mitchell2 · 02/05/2014 21:02

Marlena maybe threaten to go into labor when they are there and start asking them questions re how handy are they with birth pools, hot water and towels?

Sophie no advice, unless you want to come around and organise my house? I don't mind if you need frequent stops Grin

NeedaDiscoNap · 02/05/2014 21:06

Oooh can't believe this is going to be the last thread! I've not posted for ages but have been lurking (had to change my username after the security breach).

Anyone else have a troublesome baby with feet stuck up under your ribs? I've been struggling to breathe properly all day!

MarlenaGru · 02/05/2014 23:29

disco who were you before?

sophie if you are gymming still then can I borrow some of your energy please? I have so much I should do but all I can think of is sleeping! I am still doing mat fit though but only twice a week and find it most relaxing mostly!

Good plan mitchell! I just hope the scaffolding is gone by then or they could be scarred for life!

Despite being knackered and having way too much work on I keep volunteering to do stuff. I have said I will take our cat to DD's school for animal week in my last week at work. I really hope a miracle occurs and my three projects are finished next week...

GillyBillyWilly · 03/05/2014 07:46

Poking my nose in.... Haven't posted on here for ages!
The Facebook group has consumed me!

36 weeks on Monday.... Baby due 2nd June.... So.... That's like.... CLOSE!!!!GrinBlush

Anyone that wants to join the FB group, just PM me your email address.

There's over 60 of us in there now which is why the mumsnet threads have got quieter!

Sorry to anyone that's not on FB.... Sad

misshoohaa · 03/05/2014 08:43

Gosh I'm barely up for a slow trudge let alone keep fit classes! Credit to you Marlena and Sophie.

What a gorgeous day, well on the south anyway, off to a boot fair. I will resist buying baby junk but always love to look Grin

Hi Gilly, yup a few of us are sticking with mumsnet only, hi to everyone over at Facebook - in the minority over here but hopefully a few of us can keep the thread alive and then move into post natal! I can't do Facebook so mumsnet is my only option! Seems to have got a big busier back here in the last week, the impending arrivals have given it a boost I think! Grin

disco my baby's been jabbing me right in the ribs as it spins around in there. It's favourite is kicking me in the bladder which feels so weird.

Bump is starting to spread upwards now resulting breast bone pain. It knacks. I'm going to have to sleep standing up soon. Anyone else getting this?

NeedaDiscoNap · 03/05/2014 11:00

I used to be AmelieRose Marlena - annoyingly I can't get my name back because of issues with my email address (apparently I naughtily had two accounts at some point, which I don't remember but is definitely not allowed!).

Sophie I have that too. Two consecutive nights without much sleep and still nearly 5 weeks til mat leave. Not sure how I'll manage, it's so painful!

Jessiebaba · 03/05/2014 15:34

Sophie and Disco, you have my sympathy - I've been suffering from sore ribs for a while now Sad I swear this baby is swinging from them!

CleverOl10 · 03/05/2014 21:36

Sympathy to all since I'm in the same boat - very little sleep due to overactive ninja child. When do these babies sleep?!

dramajustfollowsme · 03/05/2014 21:59

Hi, I was here in very early threads but not so much recently. My due date is the 30th of June so had been hopping between the June and July thread.
My waters broke at 34wks with dd so I really should get organised but just haven't managed with a toddler in tow.
Dh is off this week and I have given him a massive jobs list as I am now on bed rest to try and stop my waters going early again.
I am seeing the consultant a week on Wednesday and getting an extra scan then too. I do hope they will let me go naturally although things have not really been going to plan. Baby is also breech at the moment but still has plenty time to turn.
I may, at least find a bag to pack stuff in this week. I've been telling myself that having to do/to buy/to pack lists is almost as good as actually doing anything!
The raspberry leaf tea tablets worked so well last time that my waters broke about an hour after buying them - I hadn't even taken one! Grin

Notfastjustfurious · 03/05/2014 23:29

Definitely agree on the bladder thing, I'm either peeing or needing to, that is my day and having it prodded every 5 seconds from the inside is a strange feeling indeed.

I can't sleep on my side so have to do a sitting up with a million pillows kind of thing, it doesn't lead to a good night's sleep.

Drama I totally agree, writing a list is as good as doing. I love a good list. It is all much harder with a toddler on the go especially one that shouts 'mama NOT SLEEP TIME' any time I start to nod off.
