I've just heard from my midwife that my blood glucose level was 7.9 and that I need to do a glucose test.

She says it's highly likely that me eating a bowl of strawberries and granola just prior to my appointment has meant my glucose was naturally slightly elevated but I feel really upset and a bit scared.

Does anyone know what I should expect? Any experience in this area would be gratefully received. xx

rebeccax2 · 11/04/2014 12:37

Oh my god, sorry ISEAN amazing news! :-)

NannyPlumForPM · 11/04/2014 13:21

Great news isean, congratulations!

MasterFlea · 11/04/2014 13:45

Fabulous news Isean. Congrats and enjoy your snuggles with Gracie (love the name)

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 11/04/2014 13:50

Sorry for the delay! Callie (Celyn Teagan) was born at quarter to midnight last night, and I slept through much of the actual labour bit - god knows how as I was on the synto drip and had one shot of diamorphine early on, then just gas and air for the pushing :)

Tore from front to back but the pain isn't too bad at all, stitches are sore but she's worth it! Congrats Isean!!!

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 11/04/2014 14:27

I love the name callie Moomin (looks at own callie tantrumming on the floor) I hope yours isn't quite as ...spirited as this one Grin

Congratulations to you too isean :)

randdom · 11/04/2014 14:42

MasterFlea · 11/04/2014 15:36

Wow, that is fantastic moomin. Congrats.

Frozen sanitary pads are bliss on torn fanjos.

LongTailedTit · 11/04/2014 15:37

Woweeee! Congratulations Isean & Moomin and welcome to the planet Gracie & Callie! :) xxx

impatientlywaiting · 11/04/2014 15:46

I love both names Isean and Moomin. The babies are both gorgeous too.

Bornin I think the next planned deliveries for the thread are you and psynl - both planned for Monday? Is that right?

It's so exciting now they are arriving. Seeing the pics on Facebook and hearing the news of Callie and Gracie has definitely made me impatient to meet my little baby.

Ditsydebs · 11/04/2014 15:48

Congratulations on the two safe arrivals!
How do i join the Facebook page?
36 weeks today and can't wait for Baby to arrive! Lots of tightenings today and a very wriggly baby!!

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 11/04/2014 15:58

Moomin I'm going to repete that advice just incase you miss it! Frozen sanitary pads are your saviour!!
Alternatively in morrisons (I'm sure other places too) they do specific jel packs in the maternity section, fridge and put in knickers. Cools, soothes and is bliss when you are burning

psynl · 11/04/2014 16:04

Congratulations isean and moomin - lovely names

Bornin I think your next then it's my turn on Wednesday (which seems so far away now!)

Minions · 11/04/2014 16:26

Congratulations moomin, another lovely wee girl! x

wm3010 · 11/04/2014 16:47

So exciting moomin, well done!

NannyPlumForPM · 11/04/2014 16:56

Oooooh a girl! Many congrats moomin :)

Someone wanted gtt advice? Sorry can't scroll to find out who!! You fast , have a blood test and then drink a sugary Horrible drink (lucozade bleargh) and then after 2 hours they test whether your body has reacted to the drink properly :)

7.9 isn't massively high for an after food reading (especially considering you had a sugary/carby snack beforehand) so I doubt you'll be needing blood monitoring/insulin etc

NannyPlumForPM · 11/04/2014 16:57

I'm not till Sunday so lots can happen before then!!

NannyPlumForPM · 11/04/2014 16:57

(Next Sunday)

chattychattyboomba · 11/04/2014 18:41

Congratulations on little Callie Moomin. Enjoy this precious time x

moas · 11/04/2014 18:55

Congratulations on the baby girls, moomin and isean! Fantastic news, wishing you both a swift recovery!

Bezzabelle · 11/04/2014 19:04

Congrats on the baby news!

Isean- how did you find a planned cs? I have one booked but last one was a crash where I has a GA so wondering what the experience of having it all planned out was? Apparently recovery is supposed to be quicker too??

ClearlyMoo · 11/04/2014 19:55

Awwwww congrat Moomin and Isean! Welcome baby Callie & Gracie (lovely names) - well done team Maybie!

I've just cried uncontrollably cos I was supposed to be seeing my parents on Sunday but my Dad has a bad cold and we're all worried about Dad passing it on to me!

Don't want to tell Mum & Dad that midwife says baby might be 3-4 weeks early (because it might not!) but also finding it hard to explain to them why we don't want to visit over Easter (I'll be 37 weeks) they live 1.5hrs away, am I being ridiculous?
