Definitely don't you're being ridiculous clearly.

Rebeccax2 the NICE guidelines for glucose levels 1hr after a meal is 7.8 so you're not a million miles off.

Congrats on your beautiful girls isean and moomin.

Good luck for next week bornin and psynl.

Think I ought to consider packing a hospital bag. 33+2

ClearlyMoo · 11/04/2014 21:59

Squiffie so I shouldn't tell them and shouldn't travel? I meant am I being ridiculous for not travelling?

OP posts:
Squiffie · 11/04/2014 22:43

I meant you're not being ridiculous for not wanting to travel; I'd perhaps tell them why. Explain there's a chance baby might come early and although it's not a certainty that you'd be worried about travelling. I'm sure they will understand.

ClearlyMoo · 11/04/2014 22:50

Thanks Squiffie. Mum is happy she'll come see me next week on her own if Dad still ill.

I've suddenly got weird crampy tummy ache!!? Of course at the moment ever since midwife said she thought baby imminent I've over reacted to everything. Tucked up in bed wondering if "this is it", but know it's almost certainly not. Does hurt tho a bit like period pain...!

OP posts:
Squiffie · 11/04/2014 23:12

That's how my labour started - like period pain. It is also how I feel a lot of the time now anyway. When it's really happening you'll know!

dobedobedo · 12/04/2014 01:07

You are not being ridiculous clearly. I have cancelled a trip at 37 weeks, you need to be near your home and hospital and midwife! They'll have to understand.

I just had an "uh oh" moment where I had a couple of very painful contractions and felt loads of pressure down below! I asked dh to check how much petrol we had in the car but then it stopped. Phew!

As much as I'm dying to meet our baby, I'm not even 37 weeks until next week, also I haven't shaved my legs in a while! Grin

Dh is trying to calm down now. I think he had a bit of a panic! Bless!

Isean · 12/04/2014 01:37

Bezza I found the planned section fine, but I have no experience of anything else!
It was all very calm & the theatre staff were lovely, chatty & totally put me at ease. I felt I knew what was going on at all times & they were also very good with my OH.
When Gracie was delivered they lifted her above the screen so we could see her and find out the sex ourselves, she was then taken to be cleaned a little, weighed, measured, etc. My OH was given to option of watching this part or staying with me, he chose to stay with me (I was crying of course & totally overcome with joy & emotion!).
The midwife brought her to me quickly once she was checked, nappy on and wrapped in a blanket and we had a quick cuddle. Then she went to my OH.
My BP dropped and I felt quite unwell when they were stitching me up, but I was looked after very well & they explained everything they were doing and why I felt the way I did.
Once the stitching was done, I was given skin to skin contact as I was taken from theatre to the high dependency ward. Gracie latched on a wee bit & seemed happy enough.
Both our temperatures had dropped (mine down to 34 degrees) so we were given extra blankets & a blanket pumped with hot air was put over me to try to warm us up. This stayed on for about 3 hours as I took ages to get to a decent temperature. My obs were taken every 20 mins or so during this time.

Obviously the section was uncomfortable, but not painful, just a lot of jiggling about, pulling & pressure on your insides. I lost about 650ml of blood, so will have the catheter in until the morning & have not been out of bed yet. I am sore & uncomfortable, but I'm keeping on too of the pain relief & I'm doing ok!

Sorry for the essay, I hope it explained things and my experience enough for you!

I am completely smitten with Gracie and feel like the luckiest person in the whole world! Smile

Xavielli · 12/04/2014 03:41

Sounds like a positive experience overall, Isean :) I'm really looking forward to meeting my little chap for that feeling of marvel at them, it doesn't lessen with each baby xx

Bezzabelle · 12/04/2014 04:47

Thanks for that isean. My last experience was fairly traumatic so hoping that a planned cs this time will be much calmer.

Can't sleep here- got restless legs and a racing mind...

Hezbean · 12/04/2014 06:24

Congrats isean. It sounds like you've been really well looked after. Hope your first night as a mum has gone well! Love the photo on fb - so sweet and you look fab.

Bez - I have been awake since 4, mind racing too. Interviewed people for my mat cover yesterday and I've just been spinning out over leaving work, and feeling like I'm not ready for this big change! So much to think about and it's all a bit overwhelming. Really need some more sleep!!!

dobedobedo · 12/04/2014 06:46

isean that sounds lovely. I'm so happy for you! X

McBaby · 12/04/2014 08:42

So so tired. So uncomfortable in bed I have managed about an hours sleep in total and I have to go to a wedding to day 1.5 hours from home have to say I'm dreading it. Plus due to labour being under 1.5 hours last time it's expected I will have a v quick labour this time so really don't want to give birth at the wedding. But I have located maternity ward and will take bags and car seat with me! 37+4 today and wondering why I am going!

Hope everyone else has a lovely relaxing weekend planned.

Congratulations to Isean and moomin. Hopefully more babies will be arriving v soon.

PotatoPolly · 12/04/2014 08:58

Definitely not feeling emotional after reading iseans post! nope! not me! Huge congratulations!
Finally finished work yesterday and feeling a bit strange... I think the combo of mat leave and babies arriving has made it all real, am I even responsible enough to look after a baby?! Will I know what to do?! DH and I have a whole day of ante natal classes today- this could either make me or break me!
Ugh such a hormonal mess, sorry for the miserable post!
34+6

Vikks · 12/04/2014 09:07

I can't read about these babies without welling up! I'm so emotional at the moment and can't wait to meet my little kick boxer. Isean and Moomin I'm so so happy for you and love your names. Enjoy every second. X x

My DS is asking everyday now if 'Liv Liv' (Olivia) is coming. So cute! I'm really excited this time for him too, and can't wait to watch them grow and play together. Grin

McBaby I hope you are able to enjoy your day. It's tough enough doing anything these days especially with so little sleep. X

mummytobe88 · 12/04/2014 09:25

It's so lovely hearing about all these beautiful babies being born! Congratulations moomin and Isean, your little girls are absolutely gorgeous.

Definitely seems to be making everything much more real now, to think that in potentially 4 weeks time my little girl will be here is both exciting and terrifying!!

Hope everyone is feeling well! mcbaby I feel your pain with the lack of sleep Sad 4 trips to the loo last night certainly kept me up. Hope you have a lovely day at the wedding!

Vikks looks like we'll have 2 Olivia's from the May babies Smile!! That's the only name that OH and I have ever managed to agree on.

kally195 · 12/04/2014 09:25

Morning all!

Isean that's a lovely birth story - well done you xx

I need some advice/reassurance.

I am really uncomfortable this morning. Had to get up at 04:30 for an early shift, and am now at work. It is manically busy and my role today means I am constantly up and down and on my feet (in lovely steel toed boots). The bump is very tight and keeps getting tighter across the bottom - not painfully so but definitely uncomfortable. Could it be Braxton Hicks? She is also really pushing down (feels like she is burrowing into my pelvis). Kicks are lower - she is head down but it feels like her feet aren't reaching as high up. Is this all fairly normal for 35 weeks? She has been engaged for a few weeks now - presumably this discomfort/possible BH is part of her engaging further?

Oh well - 4 hours of a 12 hour shift done!

snoozysleeper · 12/04/2014 10:04

Congratulations on your beautiful girls isean and moomin Flowers

Good luck for next week bornin and psynl!!

kally it sounds like braxton hicks to me, I'm 35 weeks-ish too. 12 hours sounds like a long time, maybe you could speak to work to see if they Can shorten your shirts?
Also call midwife if tightenings become painful...

MasterFlea · 12/04/2014 10:05

Sounds like BH to me Kally. Mine are like that and sometimes I feel my back aching with them. I do some deep breathing through them.

MiniFlea is head down but kicks are still quite low. Only an inch or two above my belly button, on the left and right of it. MW did a scan to check its position and it was all fine. There's a lot of messing with its hands, methinks.

snoozysleeper · 12/04/2014 10:05

Shifts not shirts Confused

kally195 · 12/04/2014 10:44

Thanks ladies xx

snoozy I work over in France, so can't shorten the shifts. I only have 9 more though, and my managers have said that I should call in sick if I don't feel up to it. I work with my DH, so I am happier being here with him than at home alone with him in France.

masterflea I am going to strat using my natal hypnotherapy stuff on them. They aren't at all painful, but I figure it is good practise! I get the hands messing as well it currently feels like she is trying to stick them out of my cervix

kally195 · 12/04/2014 10:47

snoozy your shirts comment is also quite apt though - the ONE maternity shirt I have been given comes down to my knees. Why they thought one tent-like shirt would suffice when we work 48 hour weeks... The trousers are hilarious as well - I can pull them up over my head and there isn't a chance in hell of them staying up!

Bornin1984 · 12/04/2014 14:02

Does anybody know what the average weight gain is?

mummytobe88 · 12/04/2014 14:48

Bornin from what I've heard and read I think it's roughly between 2 and 3 stone but obviously it completely depends on the person and their weight etc before falling pregnant

kally195 · 12/04/2014 14:59

bornin I used this calculator www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

It uses your pre-pregnancy height/weight to tell you what sort of range is considered "normal" for you personally to gain.

Don't put too much stock in it though - everyone is different and gains weight differently.

Xavielli · 12/04/2014 16:25

I'm so hungry but I don't fancy anything. Irritating! And I keep getting crampy pains in my back. Oh I wish things would get going now, I'm ready to meet my boy now. 37 weeks today.
