NannyPlumForPM · 06/04/2014 21:34

Hospital have lots of preemie stuff for situations such as this so don't worry moomin! Hope you manage to put forward a case for getting baby out sooner because you really are going through the ringer!

Hugs to all. It just shows how disposable we really are to our employers :( but keep that in mind when thinkin about goin back to work! I sure am- haven't had anyone check how I am so they can bloody whistle if they think I am returning grrr

Not much to rant about fil- other than he is the worlds most hideously opinionated cocklodger :) but all done now and they have been packed off back home. Phew

kally195 · 06/04/2014 21:57

Huge hugs moomin. Try to stay as relaxed as possible (easier said than done I know) and as everyone has said, you are in the best place and baby will be fine xx

I washed the first lot of baby stuff today. Made me realised just how restrained I've been - we have three 0-3 vests and one 0-3 sleepsuit. Has anyone else found that they are being given clothing in bigger sizes as gifts?

My nan has made some gorgeous cardigans though, and my mum surprised me with a dress she had kept from when I was born. Boring pics attached.....

Aw I wish the app would let you see pics!

Moomin, glad you don't have pre eclampsia! But try and get some rest tonight. Your baby is fully cooked now so whatever happens, he or she will be absolutely grand. Hopefully the consultant can help you tomorrow. Thanks

I'm in bed. I'm so hot, I can barely stand it! Haven't had the heating on for days but I feel like it's on full whack! Lots of BH today as well which doesn't help I'm sure. Glad I don't have work anymore tomorrow! Night everyone!

pickletalk14 · 06/04/2014 22:23

Bornin 8 days.. yikes

Moomin look after yourself and get some rest

All the people with crap colleagues... grr... that's mean. We would never let someone go with out a little send off :-(

For clothes I've gone for about 5 vests and 5 sleepsuits in each of newborn, up to one month and 0-3. All from.e bay so not broken the bank. Although now we know little pickle might be on the big side we might not get to use some of ths cutest stuff!

Hey all hope you've enjoyed the weekend.
As for clothing sizes, I already have a lot left over from DD1 so have not bought much at all for poor DD2... And at this rate she'll be sleeping in a drawer as DH is currently using the rocking cradle as his office paperwork storage Hmm (on that note, besides poking him with a cattle prod, any tips on forcing him to sort out his man cave otherwise known as the spare room/home office? Men!!! Angry)
Popped into John Lewis and bought some sleep suits size 0-3 months.
I know I have mentioned before but Dd1 was 10.5lbs so I'm not even bothering with any new born sizes.

snoozysleeper · 06/04/2014 22:58

moomin I'm glad it sounds like its not pre-eclampsia but I hope you feel better soon regardless. Hopefully you'll have the answers you need tomorrow morning when you see the consultant.. Flowers

kally the cardigan and dress look really sweet on your photos

snoozysleeper · 06/04/2014 23:00

This is my first baby and I've bought lots of newborn stuff Confused I hope he fits them when he arrives!

randdom · 06/04/2014 23:01

Hope all is ok moomin and all who are feeling poorly.

I have now done my last 12 hour shift. Only 7 8-9 hour shifts left over the next three weeks until mat leave and can't wait!

Shattered now though as I have worked the last 7 days. Two days off now though :)

LongTailedTit · 06/04/2014 23:24

Evening!
8 days is a helluva countdown, yikes that's SOON!

We ended up going to my mums after all this weekend as DHs work was cancelled on Sat, and actually had a really lovely time amazingly didn't bicker with my mum at all for the first time in a decade. Three hours there, but only 2andabit on the way home today, so pretty easy.

I've been having sharp pains down the right hand side of my bump since lunchtime, not particularly regular, but not constant - bit weird really. They don't feel like BH, so I reckon I've strained something somehow.
I have my last consultant appointment in the morning so will mention it to her.
TBH I did have paranoid thoughts about it being the start of labour! Really don't think it is tho...

Moomin fx for an earlier induction date than 40wks, it seems cruel to keep you waiting that long.

eggsnbeans · 07/04/2014 05:07

kally love, love your wee woolies! My mum gave me a jacket someone had knitted for me when I was born too! So nice to have some things with a story Smile

spirael and chip so sorry you have crap work people! My last work place was like that too... it's like you get pg just to purposefully make life harder for them! My boss even left early with some cock and bull story so he didn't have to say goodbye!

Re clothes... I had lots of NB things as assumed I would have a small baby as i had a tiny bump...DD was 9lb and very long at birth and fitted them just fine, admittedly only for a week or two, but definitely fine for hospital and first few days (maybe unless you have a 10lber). They're only tiny for a few days and it's nice to have something cute that fits properly, even if not for long, rather than getting a bigger size just so you get more wear out of them. Every brand seems to have different sizing too! Totally crazy!

rebeccax2 · 07/04/2014 07:24

6 weeks to go!

Oh my god, 8 Days Bornin - how bloody exciting!

I'm all prepped ladies. I have nappies and wipes and a moses basket and baby grows and merino swaddles and sleeping bags and and 3 x changing bags and EVERYTHING else I could possible need. Except a car seat, but OH has just ONE job and that's it. Hmm

The amazing thing is that I hardly spent a cent on this myself - it's been virtually all gifts from lovely friends.

Okay. I have to duck off now. Have a great day everyone!

(ps: I am much more active on Facebook than here these days... it's just easier on the phone etc. So sorry if I'm missing your news!)

Bornin1984 · 07/04/2014 07:48

7 days to go!!!

Moomin how was your night? Hopefully you aren't waiting too long to see doctor!

I have the breast feeding work shop today!

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 07/04/2014 08:17

Well im officially in the drop zone! Headache, stabbing pains under my ribs, swollen and still protein in my wee but BP is normal-ish which is good! No idea what doctor is likely to say today or when he'll be round.

Hezbean · 07/04/2014 08:50

Morning All.

Moomin sorry you're still feeling crap but good to hear BP isn't too high this morning. Keep us posted xxx

Rebecca - 6 weeks for me too! 4 more at work. I think I'm all sorted too now, just need a sling, a couple of cardigans and some things for me for my hospital bag....erm, like nighties etc. I don't have anything suitable at all, I don't wear PJs or nighties, and I only have a really thick dressing gown that will be too hot for the hospital if I have to stay in. I have a MW appt tomorrow where I hope they will tell me I am OK to go to the birth centre.

On clothes size - I've got 5 x newborn vests and sleepsuits from John Lewis, and all the rest of the stuff is either 0-3m (various stores) or H&M 1-2m. There's an M&S next door to the hospital and lots of late supermarkets so I figure we can get more smaller stuff if we really need it.

Love the little cardigans and dress Kally - how cute!

8 days BornIn! So exciting.

Spirael · 07/04/2014 09:06

Thanks for the sympathy, it's nice to have at least one place where people remember I'm pregnant! Wink Dragged myself into work this morning despite waking up three times overnight and barely being able to walk. Doubt I'll get much/any appreciation for it!

Moomin, I went into labour naturally with DD1 at 37+3. She was 8lbs 3oz, 51cm long and very obviously fully cooked and happy to be out into the world. Any time between 37-42 weeks is considered full term, so by reaching that magical 37 week marker - you're done! It can happen any time now and your LO should be just fine. They're unlikely to need any extra help or tiny baby clothes or anything.

We used newborn size clothes with DD1 for a couple of weeks then moved her into 0-3 months for a couple of months. I think I ended up with around 9 sets of vests/sleepsuits for newborn and 16 sets of vests/sleepsuits for 0-3 months, but a number of them were gifts on top of what I'd already prepared. Didn't bother much with proper clothes for ages, except for special occasions.

How many vests/sleepsuits you need depends on how mucky your baby is, as some spit up or have explosive nappies more than others. With DD, I'd say that on average she used three vest/sleepsuit combos over a 24 hour period for the first few months.

Ugh, I'm currently being kicked in my lungs and simultaneously head butted in my bladder! It's good that DD2 is active and seemingly getting settled into a head down position, but it's still very uncomfortable. I suspect I'll deliver early again, as I don't feel like I have much room left inside!

Need to wait another month though until I reach my drop zone, otherwise I won't be allowed a home birth. [grits teeth and crosses legs]

impatientlywaiting · 07/04/2014 09:36

Hi all, can't believe its Monday again. The weekends seem to go over so quickly.

Has anyone else noticed their wee changing colour? Mine has been so dark, like an orange brown colour for the past few days. Had a urine sample checked though and there don't seem to be any issues with it. Took me aback the first time I saw it.

Hope everyone is doing well, and hope you don't have to wait long to see a doctor and have a decision made Moomin.

36+5 today, 7 working days left at work. Hurrah.

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 07/04/2014 11:06

I don't know what I expected but it wasn't that!

I'm being induced tomorrow. Rep....

chattychattyboomba · 07/04/2014 11:36

Wow Moomin! How are you feeling about it?

impatientlywaiting · 07/04/2014 11:38

Eeek! How exciting Moomin. How are you feeling?

moobaloo · 07/04/2014 11:47

Oh Moomin! It may seem scary but I think that's great news, just think in a couple of days baby will be out, your body yours again and you'll have a squishy newborn!

Sending you all the best wishes in the world for a speedy and easy birth (baby Moomin owes it to you after the pregnancy you've had!) remember we're all here rooting for you Smile

Impatiently, are you drinking enough water? I've noticed I'm cutting back on water as I need to wee all the time, but that is bad and I let myself get dehydrated easily, so I'm making a special effort to drink more. Did mw say anything?

Born in - 7 days! Oh my goodness! You will have to settle for third place thread baby after Moomin though!

34 weeks today. 3 till drop zone! Want this baby out now as he's taking up a lot of space!

NannyPlumForPM · 07/04/2014 11:59

Woah! Good luck moomin :)

impatientlywaiting · 07/04/2014 12:03

Moob MW didn't seem concerned, checked for a UTI last week and it was clear, so she thought I was probably just a bit dehydrated too. Feel like I'm drinking quite a bit, but thinking about it probably not enough.

Increased my raspberry leaf tea intake from 1 to 2 cups this week, and have it chilling in the fridge at the moment to drink it cold with a bit of lemon, so if I have that and aim for another 1.5l if water today that should be okay.
