Dobe and Bush I haven't had a scan since 20 weeks. Think growth scans are generally for people who are either measuring big or small for their dates or if there is some other risk factor involved like GD etc.

We see to have lots of extra scans on this thread though, I feel in the minority not having had a scan since 20 weeks. I'm glad mostly as it's good I'm low risk, especially when I see from the thread how much others are going through. But the childish, selfish bit of me would love an extra scan.

My midwife appointments have been ever 2 weeks since about 28 weeks. Seems odd to be waiting 4 weeks when we are at this late stage?

pickletalk14 · 03/04/2014 18:20

Hmmm interesting about the mw visits and how it differs. Quite happy to take the healthy silver lining approach and will def book something extra if I am concerned.

I'm another one with an extra scan tomorrow- to check.my placenta has moved far enough away from the cervix.

A friend had a routine 34w scan at her hospital think it might be getting more common?

kally195 · 03/04/2014 19:03

I'm another one who hasn't had a scan since 20 weeks and won't get another unless an issue arises. I am a bit disappointed I don't get to see monster again, but in a way it's a good thing, as I get so nervous beforehand!

I just had my 34 week check (at 33 weeks?) And from now on it is every two weeks - has been once a month up until now. It really is odd he wuch oy differs from trust to trust.

Baby was head down and 4/5ths engaged - now driving myself batty thinking she has turned breech. Do any of you more experienced ladies know what it feels like of they are breech? U think it is her feet up in my ribs, but I'm not sure....

Was also measuring one week ahead for the first time, but MW isn't concerned. Everything else was fine.

Hugs to those suffering. We are all so nearly there!

Out of interest, how close are people working yo their due dates?

kally195 · 03/04/2014 19:04

How much it - not he wuch oy. No idea what happened there!

Ditsydebs · 03/04/2014 19:20

Kally195 My baby was breech at the weekend but head down now. When she was breech movements were very low, nothing above my belly button and when she bent her legs it felt like her feet were going to pop out my bits!! lol! Also a very hard lump right under my ribs that made breathing and eating difficult! Hope that helps!!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 03/04/2014 19:20

Home, they're happy for now but told me to go straight back if it happens again.

Re: appointments I thought I had next week off but they've booked me a midwife appointment for next week, and I think it's now one appointment a week until my due date when I'm induced anyway!

My friends threw me a surprise baby shower in uni today! So lovely and Mini Moomin has plenty of cardies to be getting on with now, and loads of Johnsons Baby Bath! I keep sniffing it, bliss!!!

Squiffie · 03/04/2014 19:22

Thanks for the replies ladies, at least I know I'm not the only one in the dark about this! Will try and remember to actually ask on Wednesday.

Do you know Kally I read your first post and didn't even notice the error so I wouldn't worry how you managed to get it in there when I managed to read it too! Lol Wink

kally195 · 03/04/2014 19:47

moomin glad you are home. Baby shower sounds lovely!

ditsy thanks for that. I think she is still head down - I've got some definite kicks happening just below my rib cage, and what feels very much like a bony foot keeps sticking out. Presumably her being head down and engaged explains my need to pee a lot more often?

squiffie I keep doing daft things. Have somehow managed to lose my brand new neon yellow headphones somewhere in the house. D'oh!

LongTailedTit · 03/04/2014 19:50

Re scans and MW appts, I only had the two scans with DS, 12 and 20wks, but I've had four this time - had a bleed at 7wks so had an early scan then, and because DS was early and on the small side they scanned me at 32wks too. No more needed now, TinyTit measured at 50th centile last scan so no concerns, and the consultant will sign me over to the MWs once I go past 37wks.

Speaking of which... This time last pregnancy my waters broke! I'm 35+5 today, had DS two days later at 36wks - so every day's a bonus after Saturday!
I am slightly bricking it that I could have a baby any day now tho - aaaaaaargh!

I have my last appointment with the consultant on Monday, and my MW usually cancels appts if I'm seeing the consultant that week, so I guess I'll see the MW next at 38wks?

Awful back ache the last few days and barely any sleep, reckon I'm getting 3-4hrs a night max - good prep for when Tiny arrives I guess...
In other news, DSis has prepped the birth announcements for us, she has a personalised stationery company and is doing them as a freebie for us! Grin All we need to do is give her the name and weight etc after he's born, all very civilised!

If anyone is in need of a laugh Hmm, I woke this morning to DH telling me an ambulance was on its way - he's unwell with a fluey virus and had called 111 for some advice, and the plonker he spoke to decided he warranted an ambulance! Fecking ridiculous. Poor paramedics were v nice about it, but after giving him the once over were quickly on their way! What a waste of resources. And of course the one day I was up at 6am DS slept in until 8....... Gah!

kally195 · 03/04/2014 19:57

LTT I do hope you tease your DH about that for YEARS to come!! Fingers crossed baby stays put for a bit longer xx My mum (who is a nurse) has decided I won't go full term. She can't really explain why though...

Bornin1984 · 03/04/2014 20:13

Indexes tigon and upset tummy in casa bornin :-(

McRedHead · 03/04/2014 20:34

Hello all. So sorry to hear some of you are having a rough ride. You are all so close now. Hopefully so can survive the last few weeks as patiently and comfortably as you can. I can't believe how far along you are now!

I popped back at the start of the year to say I was on the October thread. Unfortunately I had another MC in Feb. Not to be beaten down, we started trying again and I am now - tentatively - 5weeks pg. So, when I can pluck up the courage, I will join the December bus, just waiting a few more weeks yet. Don't think I'll even call GP yet. Everything is crossed...

I'll pop in again when due dates approach to check in for all the happy news. (and steal some good name Wink)

Have some Thursday Cake on me
Red x

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 03/04/2014 20:44

Lovely to hear from you again Red, so sorry to hear your sad news but can I offer a tentative congratulations? And a big un-MNetty hug and some Cake of course! Everything crossed for you, hoping this is your sticky bean! Keep us updated on how you're getting on if you feel able :)

x

Bornin1984 · 03/04/2014 20:56

Red! Fingers crossed and lots of love for a sticky bean Thanks xxxx

randdom · 03/04/2014 20:59

Sorry that so many people are struggling.

I'm so tired. Am working my last 12 hour shifts and my last weekend. Then only 2 and a half weeks until mat leave starts.

Unfortunately following my long day on Monday my pelvic pain has come back. Am hoping it is only temporary.

31+6

loopylou52 · 03/04/2014 22:03

Sorry to hear about the mc red, fingers crossed for you for this to be a sticky bean.

Bush - the reason I had the scan today was because at my 34 week midwife appointment my bump was measuring small (31 instead of 34 - I think they tend to get concerned if it's more than 2cm out).

mrsmummytobe · 03/04/2014 22:14

Sorry to hear people are struggling. Hugs to all who need them, sorry not to name everyone.

red congratulations & I'm praying for a sticky bean for you.

moomin glad to hear you're home safe & sound

bush I am totally impressed with your toilet training plans! Sounds very brave! I know nothing about that method but will be interested to hear how you get on with it.

It was the last day of term today so I got presented with a card & pressie from work, even though I'm back for just a few days next term. I found the whole thing really overwhelming though, couldn't really enjoy it & came home & cried. I know it's all down to my hormones but I was convincing myself that no one at work really cared about me leaving. Sounds so silly & self-centred when I write that & I'm pretty sure it's just my hormones playing up. We had a lunch after the presentation & I found it really difficult getting through that as I somehow ended up sitting on a table with randoms as all the other tables filled up & I wasn't with any work friends - not what I wanted for my last meal there. So I came home & really cried! I know you ladies understand but it would sound ridiculous to tell anyone in RL (apart from my family who I cried down the phone to!) I know it was a total overreaction, especially as I got a nice present & card.

SarahJinx · 03/04/2014 22:19

Fingers firmly crossed for you Red, bag a seat on that bus!

I can hardly keep up with this thread! Can't check back on ipad either so apols for crappy name checking.

Moomin, glad everything is ok,I haven't experienced any reduced movements, must be super worrying. Lovely news about baby shower, so nice to be a bit spoilt.

Ladies with GD still in awe of you.

I saw my consultant today, am consultant lead because of three magic risk factors - raised bmi, age and rheumatoid arthritis, then I had a low placenta and now i have a huge baby (supposedly) they seem convinced I have GD but my pesky GTTs keep coming back just under borderline just to vex them! Scan number six or seven is now booked for 38 weeks, just to check size, "we won't do anything,it's just so,we know...."

Anyway, love a scan!

In not such good news, arthritis has been in complete remission since preg (it's an autoimmune disease so reduced immune system means inactive disease whilst preg) but been told today to expect a big flare up immediately after birth. Lovely, something to look forwards to....

Thanks To anyone struggling, chins up, we're almost there!

moas · 03/04/2014 22:58

loopylou I feel for you. Great that they are not concerned and that it'll be followed up. As I've written on here before (sorry to go on about it) my DS was small, under 5th centile and I was induced at 37weeks because of it. He really doesn't seem that small now though, at 2,5. Hugs to you, so often the scans get it totally wrong anyway.

Hezbean · 03/04/2014 23:05

Hi everyone! Another one here with no scan after 20 weeks. We're in London and I have shared care with GPs and so have had 20 week scan, 24 week GP check, 28 week midwife check plus bloods and GTT, 31 week GP check and got the whooping cough vaccine, and then I have a 34 week check up with the midwife next week. They said that appointment would be up to an hour and I think that's when we discuss birth options. After that not sure but think the next appointment is at 36 weeks either at birth centre or main hospital ward depending on where I end up. Really hoping for birth centre.

I didn't get any results through for my GTT test or blood iron levels or anything!

Have had a pretty smooth ride so far so have been very lucky compared to all you poor things with GD and SPD and OC etc, so really can't complain, but have been a bit floored today with really really painful hips, particularly the left one! Not sure where that's come from and hope it doesn't stay....

McRed congrats and fingers crossed for you - lovely to hear from you!

Lovely to hear about people's baby showers and beginnings of maternity leave. I still have another 4 weeks and we haven't found cover for me yet!

Hugs to those suffering and good luck to those with scans and appointments coming up.

impatientlywaiting · 04/04/2014 00:10

McRed, lovely to hear from you. Everything crossed that you have a lovely, relaxed and boring pregnancy this time and are enjoying your new arrival by Christmas. Xx

mrsmummytobe · 04/04/2014 04:54

Ugh I've been awake for about 3 hours tonight, can't sleep! I'm feeling so down & close to tears all the time. Can't stop thinking about yesterday & my work leaving thing & feeling upset about it. I really was looking forward to leaving work but I just felt like no one cared. Sorry to be so self indulgent & go on about it! I guess everyone thinks it's not that big a deal as I will be going back to work, but for me going on maternity leave with dc1 is a huge deal! I know I'm overreacting to this but I can't seem to pull myself out of it :(

bushprincess · 04/04/2014 06:44

McRed you're so lovely to come and let us know, will keep everything crossed for you and your bean - what a wonderful christmas present that will be! Do let us know that everything is progressing well as and when you can Thanks

mrsmummy huge hugs to you, it's not silly to feel like that - it IS a big deal to be leaving for your first child and you want your work friends to appreciate that. On the plus side you've on Mat leave - hurrah! enjoy it all!!!! Oh and re the nappy-free thing -- you are more than welcome to laugh at me when I end up covered in poo all the time Grin

moominiswaiting so glad all was well, you've got so much going on that having DFM ontop seems unfair! yeah for baby shower though!!

LTT gosh - must be odd to think that last time you were about to go into labor now - hope tinytit decides to wait a little longer than his brother!! Hope you're having a good laugh at your DH - he must have been playing up his manfu to the extreme for them to send an ambulance!!

Kally wonder what little clues your mums getting that you won't get to your due date? will be interesting to see if she's right!

random hope the hip pain eases up, SarahJ such a shame to think you'll be in pain from your arthritis so soon after the birth - just when you want to be concentrating on your little one - nice to have had a break during pg though - at least it has some bonuses!!

Its FRIDAY!! Cake for everyone (sugar free for the GD crew!)

xx

dobedobedo · 04/04/2014 06:48

Great to hear from you mcred, but I'm sorry to hear of the mc. Keeping everything crossed for your Xmas baby! Thanks X

Wow there's loads of posts since I last came on, we are a chatty bunch! Last night I went out for dinner with work people and today is my last day! I've been looking forward to this for so long because of spd and work doing my head in, but now that the last day is here, I feel quite sad and freaked out! Confused

Ds also comes home from his school trip today, can't wait to see him this evening.
Spd is pretty bad at the moment. The past two weeks have been manic and I've not had a chance to rest much. That will all change after today! It's the right time though, I'm constantly swollen and resemble a memory foam mattress these days.
Hope everyone has a good Friday.

What are you all up to this weekend?

Chip86 · 04/04/2014 07:43
