Apparently my friends have gone around asking people what they reckon I'm having and everyone has said 'boy', including my lecturers who think I'm carrying like it's a boy... which is odd because the past few days OH and I have been convinced it's a girl. I'm so excited to find out but kind of hoping it waits until my due date, I need to get through this washing first! Hmm

I have reached the point where I may potentially be on symptom watch... Blush

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 04/04/2014 08:47

This is going back a few pages I think, but the reason try don't do routine scans past 20 weeks is because baby is too big! It's difficult getting all the information you need and te scans take longer, so they only do it of there is a risk factor or worry. With my first 2 I only had the 12 and 20 week ones (apart from EPAU scans) and with this pregnancy I've had an additional growth scan at 31 weeks and have another booked at 36 weeks. It also depends on who your consultant is and what they want to do. If you're midwife led, you're very low risk and extremely lucky!!

wm3010 · 04/04/2014 09:08

mcred sorry to hear that you have had problems again, keeping everything crossed that this one sticks.

moomin glad baby decided to cooperate eventually - think he/she just likes the hospital visits?!

I have had mw appointments every 3 weeks for the last little while, I think they would have made my next appointment for 2 weeks rather than 3 but the mw told me they were really busy so just stick to 3 weeks! Suppose it is good that they aren't worried about me, although dh kindly pointed out that the baby could be here before the next appointment at 37+5 which is a bit of a scary/exciting thought!

moobaloo · 04/04/2014 09:10

Congratulations mcred, hope you have a lovely pregnancy! A baby for Christmas!

Can't remember who asked about how close to due dates everyone was working? I'm working until exactly 37 weeks (part time though, which is nice) and hope he doesn't come too early as i want to spend some of my MA before he arrives!! Haha

Moomin, I'm having a boy but if I hadn't found out everyone would have told me so by now, a total stranger pointed at my tummy and said "boy" a couple of weeks ago! I have almost all the classic old wives tales symptoms of boy carrying too - I'm such a cliche!

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 04/04/2014 09:22

Seems like it wm. Glad baby likes the visits because I definitely don't Angry there were a few women just being seen as a precaution like me but there were one or two being induced and all I could think as I was sat there was, please don't make me come back here until it's my turn for that! Grin

Although I'm not sure even that's enough time to get the washing done. Can they postpone induction for laundry-related matters? Grin

Morning all and happy Friday. I'm on the maternity leave countdown now.
8 working days to go, finishing at 38 weeks. Might sound late to some, but I'm very lucky in that my official role is working from home. I usually have trips all over the country as well, but did the last trip a few weeks ago. I actually think that as I feel pretty well and work from home I could go to 39 or 40 weeks, but I wanted a bit if time to chill out before baby arrives.

I'm splitting maternity with DH, I'm having the first 6 months then he is having the next 3 months. I just hope baby isn't too late, as if he comes at 42 weeks I will have used up a full month waiting for him and going back to work when he is 5 months old sounds really young.

Minions · 04/04/2014 09:25

Sorry to hear you had another MC mcred, it delighted to hear you're expecting again. Praying for you and your bean.

Woohoo dobe - last day! I feel for you, I felt the same way last Friday. Thought I'd be skipping out the door but felt unsettled and a bit sad too. Have to say though that I have loved my first week of maternity, it's gone quickly but being able to rest and get organised has been great.

mrsmummy, sorry you're feeling sad - pregnancy hormones can be bad. Maybe it's mixed feelings because you have left rather than because of what happened? Sounds like they gave you a lovely send off and at lunch they were probably distracted by work, weekend etc and didn't realise you would want to sit with particular people. A whole crowd of us went to Nandos for my last lunch and when I got back to the office said to one of the girls, sorry you couldn't make it. Turns out she was there at the very end of the table, I just hadn't seen her! Thankfully no offence taken, we had just all piled in, stuffed ourselves with chicken and chips and got back to the office pronto :D

Hugs to all those struggling, it's really not long now....And happy Friday!

Chip86 · 04/04/2014 09:26

Im 35 weeks and 35 days to go cant wait
im trying to do more because midwife said i need to walk 2hours a day but it just seems to make baby more more i thought she would move less

loopylou52 · 04/04/2014 09:27

Thanks moas. I'm driving myself slightly mad at the moment thinking about it and trying to find stuff out. Silly really since I've got to wait two weeks so need to figure out how to stay sane! Good to know your son seems to have caught up with his peers now.

Moomin - exciting/scary re symptom watch!

Re maternity leave, I finished at 34 weeks and am so glad I did - I've felt so much better this week (although now seem to be getting a cold - grr!) and my pgp has improved a lot. I feel like there's loads to do before baby arrives and the first week off has flown by, so I expect I'll be kept very busy. I haven't watched a single bit of daytime.TV yet! Shock

Hezbean · 04/04/2014 09:27

Im working til 38 weeks moo. 4 weeks to go! We thought we had sorted my maternity cover but it fell through so we are still advertising. V small company so it's pretty stressful and the nature of the role is pretty unique. We might have to hire two people to do half each. 4 more weeks feels like quite a long time now my hips are hurting and I'm worrying about having time to do a handover. As long as little one doesn't arrive early it should be ok though!!

No idea if it's a boy or girl. I also had the random stranger point at my bump and shout boy the other day!! Several people said girl based on head shape from the first scan. Who knows!!! Dying to find out now.

NestingNesting123 · 04/04/2014 09:28

Good luck with your scan Pickle, are they expecting the placenta to have moved?

I have been given a stay of execution, and unless I have further bleeds am to go for a scan at 34 weeks and get a decision then on whether it's ok to stay out until 36 weeks. I'll be admitted at 36 weeks no matter what and then have an ELCS between 38 and 39 weeks. I have a feeling it will be closer to 39 though because of where the weekend falls. Still, 3 weeks in hospital instead of 5 would be a huge bonus.

Bornin1984 · 04/04/2014 09:35

Last night me and dh spent around 20min watching mini me sticking his feet out while kicking.
Highly amusing!!! Trying
To contact diabetic midwife, they need a low down of my numbers!!

Haven't seen mumoftwosoontobe3 for a while is she ok!

moas · 04/04/2014 09:41

loopy I know exactly that feeling. Don't you go Googling, lady! There is absolutely nothing you can do about it at the moment, just look after yourself! Glad you're off. My boy was about 4,5 pounds at birth but me and DH didn't actually think he felt that small. Had nothing to compare to, I guess! He's such a sweetie and excited to become a big bro, even tried to bring me a cup of tea this morning (dirty mug from the dishwasher...)!

Bezzabelle · 04/04/2014 09:41

My birthday today and would have killed for a lie in but ds up at 6.15! He is being a bit whiney this morning as well so looking forward for his little friend to come over for play date so me and my friend can hopefully eat cake in peace.

I finished work on Wednesday. I'm 32 weeks but have a month off as annual leave first. Just been trying on a dress which ive borrowed from a friend for friends wedding which is 2 weeks before my elcs is booked- I look disgusting but I'm refusing to buy anything new!

Have a nice Friday everyone.

Bornin1984 · 04/04/2014 09:42

Happy birthday xxThanks

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 04/04/2014 09:43

Happy birthday Bezza, sorry you didn't get a lie in but hope you'll have a lovely day :)

I may have sneakily namechanged

Bornin1984 · 04/04/2014 09:46

Moomin at least when you name
Change ppl knew it's u! When I name change have to reintroduce myself GrinGrin

mrsmummytobe · 04/04/2014 09:48

Thanks bush and minions. I am feeling a lot better this morning. I think things always look worse in the middle of the night! They did give me a lovely send off & it was just bad luck about seating for the lunch- at the time it felt like a nightmare but that really is the hormones because I don't think I would have felt like that normally. minions that's so funny you didn't realise she was at your lunch as well!

Exciting for those of you on team yellow! Can't wait til the maybie babies start being born! :)

Happy Friday everyone, hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

mrsmummytobe · 04/04/2014 09:49

Happy birthday bezza

loopylou52 · 04/04/2014 10:29

Happy birthday bezza!

Glad you're feeling a bit happier this morning mrsmummy. I think finishing work is such a weird feeling - it's not surprising you've been feeling a bit emotional.

Clairededare · 04/04/2014 10:36

Happy Friday everyone!

Haven't had time to post for ages but wanted to send Flowers and Cake to all those who've had a rough time lately and hoping that we can all calmly glide through the strain of these last few weeks. Always the optimist! First day of Mat leave today and feel like a new woman Grin

Having growth scans here because of maternal age - first at 40 -but am moving down to Hampshire next week where they are not routinely offered. Have really loved my scans but really depends who you get wielding the ultrasound. One grumpyarse sonographer had me out in 3 mins but the last one was lovely and showed me baby's face and hands as well as usual measurement stuff and generally let me bask for 10 mins. Now 33+3.

Also had a bit of drama with some enlarged lymph nodes under my arms - my doc prescribed penicillin and referred urgently me to breast specialist. Boob expert doc was totally unconcerned and said reactive nodes entirely normal during preg. I hadn't taken the penicillin waiting til I'd got his verdict and glad I didn't!

Gorgeous American work colleagues are throwing me a baby shower later. Felt a bit British and cringey at first but it is also a little farewell after 10 years so am going to chill out and enjoy the fun!!

Wishing everyone a lovely Friday xx

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 04/04/2014 11:05

I feel so unattractive again. Can barely waddle walk around, massive and swollen, my hair is a mess and (TMI alert) one of my boobs is bleeding Hmm

I think most of it is because I feel like I'm coming down with something, I just don't know what... there's no cough and cold but a sore throat, aches and pains, it hurts to move, dizzy when I stand up and (most exciting of all) cramps and tightenings... I'm guessing it's end-of-pregnancy-itis Grin so I'm spending this morning on the sofa under the duvet, and this afternoon I'm going to dye my hair and make sure I look presentable Hmm in case Mini Moom makes an appearance. I told my mum how I was feeling and she said not to go anywhere without my phone, not to walk long distances and to be prepared in case it kicks off Shock

I think it's just generally feeling bleh rather than an impending arrival, but you never know!!!

36+4

Spirael · 04/04/2014 11:19

Morning all, finally got around to joining the new thread! Sorry for the delay, I've been reading along but not wanted to post as I've been in a fog of gloom for the last few days but would have felt a bit pathetic whining about it when my problems are all trivial compared to a lot of the ones being experienced!

Another one here with no scans since 20 weeks and barely any MW appointments either. Luckily I have no particular complications that have merited any additional attention.

Had a (retrospectively) entertaining point a couple of nights ago where I woke to horrible cramp in both my legs. Leapt out of bed, only to discover that hip pain meant that I couldn't put any weight on my left leg! So then had what would have been a rather entertaining to watch crab like shuffle dance, in silence, trying to stop the pain so I could make it to the bathroom and not wake DH in the process.

LongTailedTit · 04/04/2014 12:13

Happy Friday all! Lovely to hear from Red again, she's got a whole thread-full of us sending sticky-bean wishes for her Xmas baby!

Moomin any idea why your boob is bleeding? That doesn't sound right at all!! I'm still leaking a bit of colostrum, but nowt red. Have you had a bump and damaged a duct maybe?
I'm sorry you're feeling so rough, it seems so bloody unfair! Everyone always says how the younger you have your DC the better as your body is meant to cope better, but you're properly in the wars - wish I could pop round and wave a magic wand to make you feel better!

Spirael welcome back! No problem too small, whinge away! My issues have been pretty minor too, but honestly, it's good to get them off your chest, so share away. :)

I've been getting intermittently worried about TinyTit's movements, he seems to go quiet for much longer periods now, and then will have a rave for half an hour around the time I'm thinking about calling the midwife! Mornings are very still, but I guess there's not so much room anymore and they're settling into their sleep patterns already - maybe this one will be good at morning naps?

Bush We were both rather Blush about the whole ambulance thing, but in retrospect it seems the over zealous call handler suspected sepsis, which I guess could could be an emergency? Confused Ah well! Grin

Enjoy your baby shower Claire! Lots of Brew & Cake I hope.

Flixy102 · 04/04/2014 13:03

Tit I've been feeling the same about mini flixys movements this week. I've actually been holding on the phone to speak to the antenatal clinic because he's been so quiet when he's started kicking with vengeance! I guess there just isn't that much room anymore (36 wks).

I also find that sometimes I'll happen to look at my bump and it will be moving, although I can't feel it! Don't think we'll ever stop worrying!
