Was the 17week scan an anomaly scan or just for genetics? If it was genetics they should scan you without doubt if anomaly scan was done they might not.

dh gave me the injection this morning. I couldn't do it.
He held it in place while I pinched fat and pushed med in. Didn't hurt as much as the mws did and it didn't bleed like yesterday's too!

cookielove · 26/04/2014 08:39

The 17 week scam was to determine if the baby had a healthy heart and brain, due to genetic problems!

Ick I can't decide what to do!

topmammy · 26/04/2014 08:52

cookie Did you get a print out of the things they checked at the 17w scan? If they only checked brain and heart and nothing else then definitely go for the 20w scan as there's a lot more they need to check and measure. If they've done it already but you have no info about it then you can just plead ignorance as how we're you supposed to know :). 17w is surely too early anyway to do the whole anomaly check for all things though.

KatharineClover · 26/04/2014 11:09

20 week scan today showed a heathy, extremely wriggly little boy! We are very excited, DS (3) is already talking about what he will teach his little brother :) :)

ilovemonstersInc · 26/04/2014 11:19

Yay katharine!
I spoke to a consultant who made ds2 birth plan and she said 1st time round I pph'd because of tears requiring surgery, 2nd time uterus not contracting and its thr same risk for c section so she recommends natural with spinal to help with pain as will need to be on the synoticin drip and if they have to intervene again then at least I will be pain free. Thought id let you know katharine

HippyJess · 26/04/2014 12:17

cookie you haven't had the full anomoly scan so if just go to both and not worry about it :)

katherine lots of new team blues! Grin have attached my scan photo yesterday of DS :)

Congrats kt! Love the photo :)
We got a scan pic of my little boy yawning - he put his hand over his mouth too on the screen, just adorable!

polkadotdelight · 26/04/2014 19:10

Our scan isn't until Friday and I haven't taken a bump picture yet. DH is out tonight so I thought I'd share a picture of the cat loving the bump instead. Please excuse the manky dressing gown!

CumbrianExile · 26/04/2014 20:34

Oh and thanks for updating the stats Katherine

Teabiscuits · 26/04/2014 20:46

Thanks Katherine. x

Topsyloulou · 26/04/2014 22:07

Just had my first painful kick. Was thinking my bump was looking pretty flat all of a sudden & was trying to work out where he was when he winded me with a few hefty kicks to the diaphragm. Think that's the first time he's made it up that high, hoping this doesn't become his new favourite place!

ilovemonstersInc · 27/04/2014 09:01

Loving the pics! Cat looks very into bump. Some early bonding is happening there!

Anyone know if the tinziparin can cause reduced movements? Hes normally very active in the morning and evening with some kicks in between. Last night I got a few small kicks (2-3) amd nothing all day and same in the morning. Day before on Friday morning he was very active! Ive had a few kicks today after laying on left side just keeping a very close eye on it as it might just be hes moved into a position where im feeling less. If it's still like this will ring hosp tomorrow

Nazly · 27/04/2014 10:01

I am on a mobile device and it is impossible to add myself back in the stat, if anybody is doing it again can u add me Nazly 2 sept team blue

Ladies, what is your feeling about having a sept or early sept baby; Imam due on 2nd, can't believe if I am three days early then my son will go to school one year earlier!!! Is that true that 1st of Sept is clear cut?

Lovely to hear all healthy baby scan news;

Missing I had the same feeling about bringing up a boy when I first found out; but DH is the exact opposite and he seems very much in his comfort zone!! :)

Fairypants · 27/04/2014 11:08

If you are in England 1st sept is the definitive cut off (it is different in Scotland and I'm not sure about Ireland or Wales). I'm not worried about it though. My eldest dd is a late August baby and is very confidant and outgoing as well as always doing well academically. She is preparing for her gcse's at the moment and is expecting to get all A's and A*s so I'm pretty sure being the youngest hasn't held her back. It does mean that she won't legally be able to drink when she finishes school in 2 years time though Grin

KitKat1985 · 27/04/2014 11:34

Love the photo polkadotdelight. Smile

I'm pretty sure Nazly that September the 1st is a clear cut off point for the schools. I'm always very dubious about this 'children who are younger in the school year struggle' thing. I know quite a few teachers, parents, etc and the general consensus seems to be that whilst there may be a difference at first, other factors quickly over-ride this within a couple of years (child's personality, home life, etc) and that certainly by the end of infant school the difference isn't really there any more.

My scan day is on Friday! I'm a bit nervous (although not as nervous as for the 12 week one, where I was convinced I was going to end up looking at a blank screen) but really keen to see baby again and (hopefully) find out the sex. Am hoping baby feels a bit more co-operative this time than with the last scan where he / she just kept getting into awkward positions all the time! x

I'm actually secretly quite pleased we are likely to have had baby before Sept 1st due to being induced. It means my youngest 2 will have only 1 school year between them instead of 2!

I help out at my daughters' school, and from what I have seen the youngest ones do just as well as the older ones.
The only worry I would have is potty training for nursery. A friend of mine has a son born in.August, and the nursery he went to insisted that they were fully toilet trained. He had only just turned 3 and just simply wasn't ready, lots of nurseries are more accommodating though.

Hope everyone is ok today x.

Nazly · 27/04/2014 16:35

Interesting about toilet training tea :)

I actually prefer if my baby comes along a few days earlier to be honest, I think I prefer him to be the youngest in the class rather than oldest! I am pretty sure you are all right and the younger ones would not have any difficulties, but how does it feel to be older than all - that worries me more!!!! Also, if he is a couple of days later he goes to school one year earlier, that could be a big help for us....

topmammy · 27/04/2014 16:42

I have a proper stinking cold, sneezing and snotty and all that jazz :( I never get colds like this in April!! This is reminding me of winter time. Must be the pregnancy lowering my immune system.

Anyway, still managed to have a look round babies r us today and bought some white newborn hats, mits, vests and sleep suits. It says the sizing is newborn and up to 10lb so I'm hoping that will be the right size! So exciting! Also got ridiculously excited about buying my first lot of baby wipes in Tesco yesterday haha! (You can tell how excited I am by my overuse of exclamation marks!!)

About the August baby thing... I think maybe in the very early years you can sometimes tell as far as developmental milestones go but I think it doesn't make a difference in the long run. I teach an August born child in my class (year 1) and she is one of the highest achievers in the class despite being the youngest.
