Hello, can I join in? 8 weeks today booking appt Friday. I have the dreaded nausea but no actual sickness. I have bad indigestion and keep burping like Homer Simpson, sorry if TMI, have never felt this unladylike! Fizzy orange pop and junk food helps. Completely off anything creamy Confused This is my first time so any twinge or missing symptom terrifies me, roll on scan! Oh EDD 3rd November.

Have any of you spilt the beans yet? We are telling our mums on Sunday as it's Mother's Day but swearing them to secrecy until the scan shows all is ok Smile

alita7 · 24/03/2014 20:34

greenstone I would but then I'd end up with food I can't eat :p

welcome everyone whose new and congratulations!

just had a look at the conception page and realised how super lucky I am to be here! just crossing my fingers I can still say that in 4 weeks or so after my next scan :)

AlpacaYourThings · 24/03/2014 20:42

Hello to all the newbies on the thread Smile

I was just about to come on here and complain that I had hardly any symptoms this evening and I was starting to panic and my heartburn has came back before I even had a chance to click on the thread! Grin

annatha · 24/03/2014 20:51

RhiBee29 I wanted to wait until the first scan to tell everyone but DP had other ideas. We ended up telling parents at 6 weeks, and work at 7 weeks. Started by just telling my manager but I'm a rubbish liar and everyone wanted to know why I wasn't pulling my weight with the lifting, so everyone at work knows now too. I did feel like I was jinxing things, but at the end of the day it means that work won't expect me to do anything that I'm not comfortable with, and if god forbid anything does go wrong, I've got a strong support network around me Smile

RhiBee29 · 24/03/2014 20:55

Thanks annatha, thought I was being ridiculous spilling the news so early but as you said heaven forbid anything goes wrong I will need support and it's only our parents we intend to tell before the scan. Excited for booking on Friday. Has anyone had a Doppler at booking appt to hear a heartbeat?

alita7 · 24/03/2014 21:35

rhibee I'd recommend not using a doppler as it might scare you if it can't be found, it's not 'expected' to be found until at least 10 weeks. And if like me you have a retroverted uterus (I think about 1 in 5 or 6 women do) then the uterus is too far back for you to hear it.

Nessalina · 24/03/2014 21:40

Evening all!
annatha & alita - it's my booking appt tomorrow too! Smile Hope it goes well for us all!
We have over 90 ladies on this thread now Shock The scary thing is that we only have one set of twins and statistically there should be two... Who else is packing?! Wink
I've told my boss I'm preggers. After what happened last time I know I'd need some time off if things went wrong, so figured it was best to put him in the picture early.

Nessalina · 24/03/2014 21:41

Ah! I keep forgetting! Smile
7 weeks today!

OP posts:
Snooky17 · 24/03/2014 22:02

I'm def not having twins, has scan fri saw hb, but been in this situation before and had mc but being positive so yay !

6 weeks today by lmp and a 28 day cycle but am normally a 25 day and scan on Friday dated me at just under 6 weeks, they couldn't be more specific don't they realise every day counts lol

WinterLover · 24/03/2014 22:03

nessa its my booking appointment tomorrow too Grin

Misslaughalot · 24/03/2014 22:16

I have a Nov 2012 baby too and there was a HUGE amount of us on that thread as well, so much so that it turned out I knew one in real life! Must be something to do with valentines day shagging...

Still no symptoms here, but trying not to worry, I didn't have any with DD either. Must get round to seeing my GP I guess.

I bought a Doppler last time, if I remember rightly I got it after my 16 week appointment because I was disappointed the MW hadnt listened (they don't until after 20 weeks generally, unless you have a sympathetic one!). You have to be careful using it though, sometimes you get your own heartbeat (much slower than baby's) or sometimes you can mistake the swoosh of blood through the placenta for the heartbeat. I think I was 18 weeks before I found DDs heartbeat with it. I loved using it most in the later weeks when I could let my mum hear it.

6+3

Misslaughalot · 24/03/2014 22:17

Oh Nessa I seem to be on the stats list twice, 12th and 14th for some reason. The 14th is correct afaik.

Nessalina · 24/03/2014 23:15

Lucky you MissLaugh! Maybe I'm subconsciously predicting twins for you! Wink

Would it make sense to split this thread into two, or even 3, with how many of us there are? It's going to get very hard to keep up and a lot of posts are going to get lost or ignored among the pages and pages of posts per day?

I'm 8+2 now. Need to book my 2nd mw appt for in 3 weeks time and am going to have a private scan next week, though I already heard the hb a week ago on my doppler so not too worried. And still lots of general symptoms (mainly making me a fat oily grumpy all round crap feeling sod!) so feeling quite secure in the pg though can't help thinking something is not quite 100%.

Going to announce it to the extended family tomorrow at a family meal so that'll be nice. It's early but hey ho.

Nessalina · 24/03/2014 23:30

That might be an idea Random, there are a lot of us... It's nice for the thread to have plenty going on, but yeah, I feel like I'm missing quite a bit!
Cutting off at the 14th gives a good split...
1st-13th is about 50 ladies
14th-30th is about 40, but bound to get more adding on that Fred...
What do people think? I'm happy to start a Fred for the second half of the month folks and we can leave this as the first half?
Or is it a bit radical!!! I know the October lot split themselves into regular, and those that had had previous MCs/difficulties, so that's another option, though more complicated to sort out!!! Smile

OP posts:
Nessalina · 24/03/2014 23:33

Wow. The May group has 118 members, and has a google documents spreadsheet to track them! Shock

OP posts:
Nessalina · 24/03/2014 23:35

On the other hand, the December thread has just begun, so we may find new folks choose to join that thread even if they're due late Nov just because we're a bit further on here...?

OP posts:
Nessalina · 24/03/2014 23:37

And there's 130 on July... Maybe we're not as big as we think Grin

OP posts:
Tigsy · 24/03/2014 23:46

RhiBee I'm also telling my parents on Mother's Day. I have a private scan booked for the Saturday so that I can be sure things are looking ok for now before I tell. Then planning to tell close family and close friends over the next few else, and others after 12 week scan.

Is the number of us on our thread quite unusual then? Not sure what's normal....

RandomInternetStranger · 24/03/2014 23:50

Ness re the regular/mc thread I think if we could choose where to be then that would be OK but tbh I would be in the mc thread and I don't want to be there. I don't want to read negative things about mcs and fears and hard pgs as I'm trying to stay positive and not think about it and I try to skip over those posts as much as poss. I think a date split may be good as there are ladies here 4 weeks behind others and the thread has a kind of deja vu theme every week with newbs having the symptoms others were having 4 weeks ago, though that gap will shorten in a couple of weeks. But then if other months are happy with 100+ members then we're not as big as it feels!! Grin

amylou85 · 25/03/2014 03:27

I think a split would be good! Every time I come on here there's tons more messages and I can't keep up! X

Northernexile · 25/03/2014 07:13

Not sure what I think about a thread split- 'spose I don't mind either way really.

Did anyone else find themselves watching OBEM last night and scaring themselves silly? I did this last time too, just can't help myself!

Tigsy · 25/03/2014 07:42

I agree with Random. I don't really mind either way if we split, but if we do, I think splitting by date is the better option. Are the majority of people who join the thread coming back to post regularly? Just wondering, once the newbies have all joined, some may naturally just not really stick around...

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 25/03/2014 07:45

As I'm towards the end of the month I like hearing what I should expect from the ladies due earlier than me.
I just check the thread on my commute and doesn't take long to catch up.

BexBoo12 · 25/03/2014 07:48

Trust me ladies, our September thread was chocka at first, but it does calm down. I would stick with it if I were you Grin
