I may be a good candidate for twins, my Mum is a fraternal twin and so is my paternal grandmother. I had a singleton first time around. I already feel huge, I was out of normal jeans at 5 weeks. I look as pregnant as I was at 4 months with DD. I've had at least two dreams about twins. However I don't have bad MS at all this time around but DM said she only had MS with me rather than my brothers. Having to eat every hour or so too.

Am hoping it isn't because I have no idea how I will cope with 3 under 3 and all our family in Oz. Aussiegoinghomesoon I chose the Whittington and have my scan on the 2nd May but haven't got letter about booking yet. Have you got yours?

alita7 · 25/03/2014 07:53

I don't mind whether we split it but from bex it sounds like some people just don't come back regularly so the numbers will thin. also some of the newbies will end up having theirs before those of us at 8 weeks so would be nice to be together at the end.

pinkgirlythoughts · 25/03/2014 07:53

I remember the May 2011 thread being really busy at first, now almost three years on we've whittled ourselves down to a private Facebook group of 22 members Grin

Makes mental note to check the boards and see if there's still a May 2011 thread running on here too...

alita7 · 25/03/2014 07:55

as for twins my scan showed one baby BUT we shouldn't assume there's definitely only one! I've read of so many people with a 'hidden' or undetected twin at early ultrasounds!

DilysMoon · 25/03/2014 08:46

Hi all not been around for a while, had a bleed on Saturday which thankfully stopped on Sunday but am booked in for a scan today, am 6w exactly, to see what's going on so am nervous!

Congrats to all the new people haven't had chance to read through the new thread yet xx

Tigsy · 25/03/2014 09:14

For anyone struggling with morning sickness, I can recommend the wrist bands. I got some yesterday as was really struggling in the mornings. I wore them last night and there was a significant difference. It hasn't gone and I still feel sick, but it was better than usual. I normally wake up ridiculously early with overwhelming nausea and can't get back to sleep. That didn't happen today and when I did wake up, the sick feeling was there but wasn't so bad and I was able to get up and get ready. Still felt very sick, but definitely took the edge off. It's the first morning in 5 days I haven't thrown up!

Glad it's still jumper/cardigan weather at work though so I can wear the bands without anyone spotting them!

alita7 · 25/03/2014 09:25

Tigsy where do you get these bands?

just had my booking in appointment and had the dreaded bloods test. All went well! I'm now feeling ill, need to eat but what on earth can I eat?!

PosyFossilsShoes · 25/03/2014 09:41

Has anybody else got really itchy skin? My legs are ridiculously itchy. It seems to be worst when I'm trying to go to sleep, and I was so tired and uncomfortable last night I ended up in tears. Blush I've just consulted Dr Google and apparently this is quite normal in the first trimester. Joy.

HRMumness · 25/03/2014 10:05

Not heard of the itchy thing before Posy but nothing would surprise me about pregnancy symptoms! Hope it gets better soon.

DH is working late tonight so he has taken DD out to play group. Debating whether to do nothing or be productive.

Amyrose82 · 25/03/2014 10:15

Morning ladies! Good luck to nessalina and all those other ladies with booking in appts today - very exciting! Mine's next weds so hopefully this will all feel a bit more real by then!

Am still having symptom paranoia - no symptoms other that tiredness (not unusual for me tho!) and being extra hungry, even boobs are less tender than last week! Did another poas this morning and still +ve though!

RhiBee and Tigsy - we're also telling parents on Mother's Day (for that read DH's parents - I told mine straight away cos I go running with my mum every morning and gym most nights so had to explain why I wasn't pushing myself so much). We don't want loads of ppl to know before the scan but figured it'd be fine to tell anyone whose support we'd rely on if the worst happened, which meant parents, sisters and best friends. Although my best friend knew before I did - she told me I was prego on the day I got my bfp and said she'd known for a couple of weeks but didn't want to freak me out!

6+6 today Grin

Greenstone · 25/03/2014 10:24

Posy yes the itching is quite common, sorry that you're afflicted so early on. I remember the horrible feeling of an itchy bump, shudder... Aveeno Menthol lotion can really help with this.

Dilys best of luck for your scan. Glad the bleeding stopped!

Right, all this talk of exercise, I am definitely going out for a looooong walk with DD in the buggy this afternoon when I finish work. I woke up exhausted this morning, I'm like a wraith, DH kept asking me if I was ok! I'm sure I'll feel better after some fresh air.

Wholemeal slice pan and porridge are working for me as breakfast items right now. Normally I love eggs but they're not currently appealing. My pattern seems to be get loads of breakfast into me and before the waves of nausea start later in the day!

7+4.

RandomInternetStranger · 25/03/2014 10:24

As fast add I know there are 2 types of itchy skin in pg, there is the normal stretching itch which is helped a lot by drinking lots of water and using body creams and moisturisers and oils to help it stretch. The other is a symptom of something as I remember last time mentioning itching to my mw and she jumped to do some tests for something or other. I would mention it when you see the mw if it's that bad and doesn't go away.

RandomInternetStranger · 25/03/2014 10:25

Auto correct on this phone!!! Grrrrr!

chirpchirp · 25/03/2014 11:06

Morning all.

Tiredness and nausea is reaching ridiculous levels. Got home yesterday after managing not to be sick on the train and pretty much went straight to bed. 12 hours sleep and I still feel tired and nauseous this morning. Last time my sickness didn't kick in until week 8 and ran all the way through until the delivery suite! This time it kicked in a fortnight ago, knew before I POAS.

Don't think my attempts to hid it from my work colleagues are going to last that long. They all remember my sickness from last time and so three people have already asked me in the last two days whether I'm pregnant. If I can lie to them until next Friday when I'll have my first midwife appointment and get the thumbs up that things look ok this time then I'll probably stop worrying so much and fess up.

Petal26 · 25/03/2014 11:07

Hi all!
Hope booking appointments go well today.
Glad to hear the bands are working Tigsy, I ordered some from Amazon last night so hope they come quickly!
Really struggling with feeling sick, DD's nappies are sending me over the edge this morning!
I've just dug out my pregnancy diary from last time (knew I'd done it for a reason!) and it says I was feeling sick from 6 weeks and started being sick dead on 8 weeks so we shall see :-(
6+4 today

Tigsy · 25/03/2014 11:48

Alita I got mine in Boots. Think you can get them in any pharmacy or on-line. These ones are black too rather than coloured so fairly discreet!

DilysMoon · 25/03/2014 12:03

Thanks Greenstone just got back, went well I'm measuring 5 weeks not 6 as I think I am but everything looks normal, no evidence of bleeding and they can't explain where it came from. Got to go back next week when hopefully should see a heartbeat Smile

ladydolly · 25/03/2014 12:04

I've got the seabands and they're really taking the edge off. It's just so unpredictable, I can feel dreadful all day or be fine after 10am. Still no actual vomiting so far, I'm at 7 +2. The things that seem to make it worse are exercise and vegetables - normally my favourite things! Iv'e gained 4lbs already from all the bloody cheese sandwiches I keep eating!

Also feeling itchy at night, I thought it was a stress thing, DP actually said 'try to calm down babe' and it did make me think 'mind over matter' and ignore it. Still had a hideous nights sleep though.

Booking in appt on Thursday, nervous and excited as FTM. I've no idea what to expect.

Wishing you all a puke free day!

edwardcullensotherwoman · 25/03/2014 12:09

Afternoon ladies! I can't believe how fast the thread has moved!
I haven't read through the full thread yet, but hope everyone's doing ok. Sickness and tiredness still ongoing here, with added heartburn this morning - great Hmm I did some googling (I know, I know) earlier and am now even more convinced this is twins! My mum seems convinced, (she would know) but DH thinks not. He's probably in denial as it would mean 4 rather than 3, and DD will only be 2.5 and is very busy!
Anyway, I've posted on the multiples board to ask for similar experiences but no answers yet Confused
I'm waiting for the midwife to ring with my booking appointment date, but probably at least a month before I get a scan (unless I guilt trip her with the RL pains, SPD and palpitations into getting me into EPAU)!

ElleOhElle · 25/03/2014 12:24

anyone else really feeling the cold??? normally I'm really hot, never put the heating on - I keep getting so cold spending most of the time under a fleecey blanket!! nausea still ongoing and horrible taste still making me feel rotten - please let this only last 1st trimester!! on the plus dude my boobs have got bigger Grin Grin
still not heard from mw or hospital re my scan?

hope everyone is feeling better soon.

ElleOhElle · 25/03/2014 12:25

*side not dude!! Wink

Greenstone · 25/03/2014 12:28

Anyone going on holidays in the next few months?

We have a sun holiday booked for end of May/start of June which is a huge treat for us (MIL is very kindly paying), it's absolutely years since DH and I saw a sun holiday and little DD will be beside herself to have the pools etc. to play in. All going well, I'm wondering what the dealio will be by then with the swimsuit situation. I do have some maternity togs but they're fairly grim and black. Wonder could I still get away with a pair of normal togs.

I am reaaaaallly really trying to be good and not buy anything at all - we have SO much saving up to do before November - but I have my beady eye on this Boden stripe maxi dress, which looks really cute and classic. Not technically a preggo dress but I think it would work really well with a minor bump...bloody dear though!

In other news I'm suddenly dying to tell somebody else our news. Dh and I have been really good about keeping quiet so far but now I just want to tell my sister or something :) GP booking in apt. on Thurs so I guess I'll hold off til then at the very least.

ElleOhElle · 25/03/2014 12:38

we're going to Turkey for 3 weeks in May - cannot bloody wait!!! I was on holiday when pg last time too but will be a couple of weeks further along this time. I took a tankini and a maternity swimming costume I think.will prob do the same this time unless I'm feeling totally confident with my bump - I might brave a normal bikini Shock

Tigsy · 25/03/2014 13:03

We were thinking of booking a holiday for June time but haven't done yet. I'm reluctant to book anything for the next months in case I'm still feeling sick all the time!

RhiBee29 · 25/03/2014 13:31

This thread moves like lightning! Still nauseous today but boobs less sore.

On the holiday front off to Paris in July but that's courtesy of MIL, we're on rations til November so no sunshine break this summer Sad

How long does booking appt take, mines at 4.30 Friday and thinking the surgery closes at 5.30 but NHS site says its 2hrs?
