Carmine yes I've had that too! Freaked me out the first time but then read it was normal and not harmful. Feels strange though. I was really anxious the first time we had sex as convinced something bad was going to happen but felt bad for DH and made myself carry on, and it's been ok since. I'm still always a bit relieved once it's over though!

RandomInternetStranger · 01/04/2014 23:17

ps sorry for the numerous posts rather than one long one but I can't see the thread when I respond on my phone and can't remember who or what I was replying to! Grin ADHD plus pregnancy brain makes for an interesting day! Grin

RandomInternetStranger · 02/04/2014 01:21

OK this midnight hunger thing is becoming a problem. Every single night I need to wake up for food and snacks do not work. It doesn't matter how late I eat or how much I still wake starving. I have just eaten a while box of strawberries, a banana, a satsuma and 4 mini choccies from a box of Heros and I am still painfully hungry and want a proper hot meal. It is gone 1 am and I cannot get up and cook a proper meal! I have succumbed a few nights and made some scrambled eggs or heated a can of ravioli or soup but I want a lamb steak, veg, mashed potatoes, gravy, maybe some cauliflower cheese, and a rice pudding with strawberry jam for pud! And a bowl of Frosties. And some cheese. GAH!!! I'm even hungrier now!

Sleepingstarsmommy · 02/04/2014 06:50

Morning ladies.

Up and heading out for my 3rd 12.5 hour shift in a row. So tired, my feet are killing me and feel so sick it's unreal. Roll on 8pm tonight. Shouldn't moan I know but feel really rough this morning to the point I could cry.

Hope the ladies who were having some bleeding are all doing ok.

utopian99 · 02/04/2014 07:22

To ladies with sex/cramp questions - I think it's just a uterine response. We did the whole way through being pg with ds and he came out fine; (our slighty woo nct leader/ex midwife said it's nice for the baby as they share your oxytocin) it is a slightly odd feeling though and freaked dh out the first few times he noticed!

alita7 · 02/04/2014 07:51

Well this morning I feel nice and nauseous... gotta take dsd to school and grumpy as there's a massive steep hill on the way back that pregnant out of breath me and cannot manage... so will have to go the really long way round.

WheresMrMonkey · 02/04/2014 08:37

Totally have the brushing teeth problem! It's awful, can manage about 20 seconds top, remember last time I had to just use mouthwash for a week it got so bad!

alita7 · 02/04/2014 08:59

my trouble cleaning my teeth is the amount of BLOOD I look like dracula...

mxmumof3 · 02/04/2014 09:30

Hi Everyone, unfortunately will need to leave this thread. I lost one of the twins last week and have today had another scan & lost the other one.
It wasn't too much of a surprise as even though my only signs were slight cramps & red/brown spotting, I stopped feeling pregnant (iykwim).
Good luck to all of you and wish you all the best for the futureSmile

WheresMrMonkey · 02/04/2014 09:34

I'm so sorry, best of luck with the future, thinking of you

Elliekins · 02/04/2014 09:36

Hi again, I joined the thread a few days ago and am ashamed to admit that it's taken me this long to realise that simply refreshing the page doesn't update the thread - I was still clicking on page 28 and wondering where on earth everyone had gone and if it was something I said!
Can I blame pregnancy for dappiness?
Hello again!
This is my second pregnancy but it wasn't to be last time and I lost it at 9 weeks on Christmas Day a few years ago
It's crazy but I'm getting more and more fearful as time goes by this time, not less, despite feeling so horrendously exhausted and sick.
It's like a dreadful hangover every single day but without the fun night out.
My gums are bleeding too, is it something to be worried about do you think?
The last thing I need now to start freaking out about my teeth falling out!!! Eeeek.

Elliekins · 02/04/2014 09:38

I'm so sorry to hear your news, that's dreadfully sad.

Tigsy · 02/04/2014 10:25

mxmumof3 so sorry to hear your news. Make sure you take good care of yourself.

Ellekins I'm with you on the constant hangover feeling- it's pretty miserable!

alita7 · 02/04/2014 10:31

so sorry to here about your angels mum of 3 I hope to see you back.

ellie I think it's cos you're more prone to gingivitis in pregnancy but your teeth won't fall out don't worry, you can get certain mouth washes that sort it but I'm not sure if we can use them in pregnancy so I'm just going to see how it goes.

I tried to go into town after dropping dsd. oh dear me. I can't even smell as my nose is blocked up with a cold but for some reason (probably the bus journey) i kept gagging, you know that feeling right at the back of your throat? and I needed to eat right then but there is nothing I want! so I got a cheese and pickle sandwich as I can't eat meat and apparently pickle is too much too... but Yay for the return of my sickness! :D

caravela · 02/04/2014 10:31

Hi all, just checking in cos I haven't posted for ages. Sorry to those who have had losses or experiencing worrying symptoms.

I'm still getting off pretty lightly compared to lots of ladies on this thread, but the waking up in the night / tossing and turning and not being able to get to sleep thing is starting to really bug me. It doesn't help that I'm ridiculously thirsty the whole time, so I keep on waking up desperate for a glass of water and then half an hour later waking up needing to go to the loo. Plus, has anyone else found that coughing makes them throw up without warning even if they aren't feeling nauseous?

PosyFossilsShoes · 02/04/2014 10:35

Elliekins - yes, DP and I are calling it "the baby hangover" and I'm sure my colleagues are thinking of staging an intervention (I work in a boozy profession so they must all think I've been on the sauce every night for a few weeks.)

MxMumof3 - so sorry to hear your news Flowers

alita7 · 02/04/2014 10:45

ooh forgot to mention I think my uterus has flipped (from being tipped the wrong way incase anyone's lost track of what's going on for who)
while I've needed to wee a lot before, I got up maybe 10 times last night to wee, and today I keep needing a wee 5 minutes after the last one and barely anything comes out.
This may explain the spotting and the weird cervical position yestersay!

MrsWombat · 02/04/2014 10:53

Had an early scan today. Had it at Apeekaboo in SE London if anyone is interested who lives in London. They will be at the baby show in Bluewater at the end of April.

Baby is everything it should be. Saw (and heard!) the heartbeat, spine, the beginning of legs and arms, head, yolk sac etc. The black circle in the photo is his brain cavity and the bits at the other end are the beginning of his legs. She said I was spot on for dates so offically (until the NHS scan) 8+0.

Big smiles (and happy tears) here today.

The midwife who scanned me told us about the Harmony blood test (which I've vaguely heard mention on the pregnancy board) as an alternative to a CVS, with we had done in our previous pregnancy with DS due to increased risk.

She also said there was a big thing at the moment about coffee increasing the risk of miscarriage. She also answered some questions on minor niggles I've been having.

booksshoescats · 02/04/2014 11:02

mumof3 so sorry to hear - look after yourself.

Elliekins - yes, exactly that. Just what I was thinking last night after an all-day headache and no energy at all. I totally empathise with your concerns. I lost my first at 11 weeks (have a dd now, though). Will you have an early scan? The MC association says if you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks you have a 98% chance of a successful pregnancy. At 10 weeks it's 99.4%. It can be really reassuring and helps the time pass a little easier than having to wait till 12 weeks.

Went to sleep just after 8 last night, though, which seems to have helped. Just spent the last hour feeling normal - not sick and much more energy. If it goes on much longer I'll start worrying about my symptoms disappearing!

caravela Have had a cough for the past week and not actually thrown up, but it's definitely making me feel much queasier. I think it may finally be passing though, as I do feel a bit better today and I wasn't coughing quite so much in the night.

Have been wearing nausea bands, which are helping somewhat. DD (5) asked me today why I was wearing them and I told her it was to stop me feeling sick, and she asked why I kept feeling sick and DH (on the way out of the room), said 'Now there's a question' - and all I could think to say was 'I'll tell you soon'. Lame, eh? Fortunately she didn't push it further!

booksshoescats · 02/04/2014 11:06

Aww, MrsWombat, that's lovely! Such a relief, isn't it?

Yes, she said the same to me about caffeine - seems to have a bit of a bee in her bonnet about it. The research isn't new, though and I think it's pretty clear that for most people a cup a day is fine. They are very nice there though, aren't they - very reassuring.

Tigsy · 02/04/2014 11:22

Great news MrsWombat lovely picture. You're the same as me as I'm 8 weeks today as well! Smile

Greenstone · 02/04/2014 11:28

Such sad news for you mxmum, I am just so sorry to hear that. Losing two babies must be extra horrible and scary :(

MrsWombat, what a lovely pic! I don't know how I'll last til 12 weeks. The worry is always there. Not feeling too nauseous today but felt crap last night - another sleepless one with multiple waking s from dd - and have a raging sore throat.

Dd asked me if I had a baby in my tummy last night Shock. Maybe she is full of woo after all!

Giraffeski · 02/04/2014 11:33

In glad I've gone off coffee then!
I'm totally whacked again- I'm supposed to be working from he today, dropped DD2 off at my mums this morning and have got back in bed! So shattered I know I won't do any proper work till I've had a rest anyway.

pinkgirlythoughts · 02/04/2014 11:33

So sorry Mxmumof3

To the ladies waiting on scans etc, I do hope you get good news soon.

I have a very poorly DS at the minute- spent the last two days dealing with 'dribblepoos,' as he's christened it, and sickness. Feel so sorry for him, and DH isn't much help, as he's just getting over the same thing himself, so feeling pretty rotten too! Poor DS, who has been dry day and night since Christmas, has agreed to having a nappy on again for a couple of days :(
On the plus side, my morning sickness has been easier to control, as I can eat whenever I feel like it at home! Just washing mt hands a lot and crossing my fingers that I don't get the bug next Confused

DilysMoon · 02/04/2014 12:18

Mumof3 I'm really sorry to hear thatSad thinking of you.

Had a good scan phew! Measuring 7w which is exactly right and saw a lovely heartbeat, so much relief here. There is a bleed next to the sac which is where my discharge/blood has been coming from so I've just got to take it easy and wait for it to heal, they'll scan again in 2 weeks to see if it's healing so fingers crossed for that.
