Yay Tigsy very happy for you!

I'm telling my dad tomorrow.... but I'm worried, as im still doing nursing at uni I think he will be very worried about me and disappointed as no matter how much I reassure hel worry I will drop out. :/ (when actually im better off having baby now as I'll get a year off with paid bursary if i want but in comparison to maternity leave not being full pay etc) i dont think he will be angry but I hate disappointing him, his life is a bit rubbish atm and I like making him happy not the opposite...

RandomInternetStranger · 29/03/2014 13:42

I ignore all this BMI bunkum. My non pg BMI is always 15, always has been. And I'm perfectly happy, healthy and eat like a pig, always have done. I just have an extremely efficient metabolism. My mw said she's glad I've put on weight already as she'd have had a go at me if I was still that small but actually it's none of her business and I don't care for her opinion or anyone else's. We're all built uniquely and what is normal and healthy for one will not be for someone else and I refuse to be judged by a computer or text book, I'm an original organic being and I do not run to computer programmes and text book charts. blamber · 29/03/2014 13:51

beetle, I was getting some sharp pains around my ovary area for a day or two, but they have gone now. I got some spotting too but the GP wasn't worried, said it was normal. He said it could be the placenta burying into the uterus? Anyway, if it gets worse go see your GP.

Annarose2014 · 29/03/2014 13:52

alita a couple of girls in my course got pregnant and are deferring a year. (Its my last yr, so by the time baby is born I'll be finished, about a month beforehand.)

But my Dad would have been the same if it happened in the middle. Just loads of anxiety about whether I'd finish it or not.

All you can do is remind him that the appropriate response is "Congratulaions". Oh, and the phrase "I trust you" springs to mind as well! Wink

Jenna87 · 29/03/2014 14:18

Hey everyone! Id also love to join in too if that's ok. Found out last I'm
Pregnant :-) due 27th November

Only symptom really is tiredness! Is weird I want more! Haha can't wait for first scan so it starts to feel more real.

AlpacaYourThings · 29/03/2014 14:28

That's brilliant Tigsy! Was it really exciting to see the heartbeat?

Tigsy · 29/03/2014 15:00

Alpaca yes it was amazing! Definitely reassured me as I know things still aren't guaranteed but it was a stage I never got to with my previous pregnancy!

AlpacaYourThings · 29/03/2014 15:10

Oh brilliant! I can't wait for mine. Smile

alita7 · 29/03/2014 15:13

just realised while making my dad's birthday cake that I've been taste testing all the way through... and there's rare eggs in it. They are kings eggs is this something I should be worried about or is it just the risk of salmonella, which I've never ever got when baking cakes and I've always given my self generous tasters...

beetle I don't know about Anna but I think in her position I'd feel less sorry but more a. out of place/ a fraud (maybe wrong word) working there as I couldn't imagine what they're going through having gotten pregnant relatively quickly. b. A bit guilty actually even if that seems silly

Catnap1 · 29/03/2014 16:58

We'll ladies what a day! It's my husbands birthday today. I surprised him yesterday with a night away which was lovely. Then woke up this morning to see blood when I went to the toilet. Called the emergency doc who sent me to the hospital. Didn't have a scan but had an internal examination & they think I'm bleeding from outside which is obviously good but it's so nerve-racking! I feel exhausted! Poor hubby on his birthday as well. The hospital is calling me first thing Monday for an appointment & hopefully a scan. So frustrating I didn't have one today & Monday seems like a lifetime away Sad 8 weeks today

ElleOhElle · 29/03/2014 17:02

got my scan date!! 25th April Grin

AlpacaYourThings · 29/03/2014 17:22

Sorry to hear that Catnap. Try and stay positive, I know it can't be easy.

I wish they had EPAU open at the weekends, it seems torturous to make anyone wait until Monday Sad

Catnap1 · 29/03/2014 17:29

Thank you alpacayourthings. It is awful having to wait for anyone! I've said to my husband if they don't scan me on Monday I'd like to have a private one just for reassurance

Amyrose82 · 29/03/2014 17:50

Oh Catnip, poor you! And poor hubby on his birthday! Try to stay positive - easier said that done I know - and fingers crossed for happy news on Monday x

Alita - as far as I know the only risk with raw eggs is salmonella, which isn't an immediate risk to baby but would make you poorly. If your eggs were British lion marked you shouldn't have anything to worry about anyway as all lion marked eggs come from chickens vaccinated against salmonella!

Amyrose82 · 29/03/2014 18:00

Or even catnap - stupid autocorrect!

Catnap1 · 29/03/2014 18:08

Thank you for your message Amyrose82. The typo made me smile which is just what I needed

alita7 · 29/03/2014 18:10

Cat nap ill cross my fingers for you. Many of us have had bleeds and all was ok, mine was :) so I hope that gives you a bit of hope :)

Catnap1 · 29/03/2014 18:16

Thank you Alita7 and I'm glad you had good news. I know the doctor at the hospital was very reassuring. Just want a scan to see alls ok

blamber · 29/03/2014 18:24

alita, don't worry about the eggs, there eggs here are salmonella free and I think the risk is very low of anything else causing any trouble. Anyway if you feel fine now, then you know you didn't get food poisoning!

alita7 · 29/03/2014 18:26

Blamber of course I'm not feeling fine I'm pregnant :p I feel sick constantly hehe

weeonion · 29/03/2014 19:28

Evening folks! We haven't told DD (aged6). Everyone is different and will do what suits their own family best. We decided not to tell her until after our 12 week scan and after all the tests are done and results are back. We don't want to tell her incase anything is wrong and have to explain why she wont be getting a baby bro / sis after all. She is desperate for one (has been for years - and one has been on her Santa list since she was 3! ).

Tonight at family dinner, out of the blue, she turned to dp and pleadingly said, "please dad, hurry up and plant a seed of love in mum to make a baby!"

We haven't told anyone yet. A month to go before we feel we might be at that stage. Funny, I dont really have the urge to either, not like with DD. Far more worried of what might go wrong, probably due to age..

ElleOhElle · 29/03/2014 20:49

good luck Monday catnap - I'm sure everything will be fine Thanks

Giraffeski · 29/03/2014 20:50

We haven't told DD1 either (11) for the same reasons.
DD2 is 15 months so has no idea anyway, just toddles about trying to get into the utility room so she can post everything in reach into the tumble dryer.
