I've woken up with a really bad cold... Pregnancy + cold = horrible.

It feels like flu (although I know it's not) and I know I can't really take anything Sad

Annarose2014 · 29/03/2014 10:03

I am quite worried about my antenatal appt in two weeks time. I'm one of those people who is quite tall and well proportioned and everyone thinks I'm a size 12 but I'm actually a secret size 14-16 and actually have always weighed quite a lot.

I've been 12 stone all my adult life, my skinniest was 11&half and everyone was banging on like "don't lose anymore" so I looked quite thin.

I think my BMI is ususally around 26. Never bothered me.

So I am v worried midwife is gonna weigh me and GASP in horror (as I'm surely closer to 13 now with all my carb-loading) and give me a massive lecture.

Also I don't want DH to know how much I weigh cos he chirps happily about how he's getting fat "Almost 12 stone - imagine!"

He prob thinks I'm about 10 stone - I couldn't bear him to relise I'm heavier than an adult man!!!!

This sounds so stupid, but am actually dreading the appt as a result.

barmybunting · 29/03/2014 10:29

Annarose is your DH going to the booking in app with you? Perhaps say to him that there's a bit which you'd prefer to have done alone at the start, go in and ask to be weighed first and explain to the midwife then call dh in?

Good luck today tigsy, I hope it goes well!

alita7 · 29/03/2014 10:50

I hope your scans all good Tigsy!

Anna rose don't worry I went from a bmi of 24 normally to 27 at my appointment and she didn't bat a eyelid. its partly because being 5 ft 1 and a half she rounded down when I round up :p but also seem to have gained a couple of kilos :(

AlpacaYourThings · 29/03/2014 11:02

Good luck with the scan today Tigsy Smile

I think I'm just gonna joke with the midwife that I don't wanna know what I weigh and make a bit of a comedy routine out of it. Hopefully she'll laugh along and be discreet and just write it down.

Yesterday I had a wierd day - I had to work on a ward where women were going in for infertility treatments i.e. Laparoscopic hystoscopies and endo adhesion removal etc etc.

I felt AWFUL. One of them went in to theatre just for investigations as to why she wasn't getting pregnant only to be told afterwards that not only did she have bad endo, and loads of cysts had to be removed, but also that her tests results came back and her ovarian reserve was low. She cried buckets.

It was just really horrible to see all these white-faced women and the frowning husbands holding their hands. Still quite shook up about it today, tbh. Bit tearful, just cos I feel so sorry for them.

RandomInternetStranger · 29/03/2014 11:32

I thought it was hilarious last time when I ended up weighing more than my ex husband and my Dad. It comes off again so I really don't care how much I put on. My body will do what it needs to do and I trust it to do what is best for baby. I know 90% will fall back off again without any effort once baby is born and that last bit I either won't mind or will come off when I'm running ragged after an active toddler. Really struggling to hide the extra weight at the moment but there are some people I'm seeing this week who I can't tell yet so starting to panic over what to wear. I never ever wear baggy clothes, even my sweatshirts and hoodies are slim fitting and are showing my new extra weight. Think I may have to carry bags and coats in front of me this week but I've gone wider everywhere, my bum is definitely a couple of sizes bigger already.

9 weeks today.

RandomInternetStranger · 29/03/2014 11:34

Annarose I was of of those women once. I was told no chance. I have a nearly 8 year old and this one on the way. Smile

alita7 · 29/03/2014 11:39

wow Anna that certainly puts things into perspective... We really are so lucky to be here. I bet that was one time you were happy to not be obviously pregnant! I wonder what would happen if you worked on that ward and got pregnant, I hope they'd move you.
I'm glad I decided to ttc young even though some people think I should be older but it would have given me longer to find issues and find a way round them and many issues are progressive ie if I were to have endo right now I'd probably still have a good chance but my poor aunt found out in her thirties and has never been able to get pregnant and is now nearly 60.

maeanne · 29/03/2014 11:45

You are all so much further along than me, I feel like a bit of a fraud! I'm only 5+3 today and haven't felt very pregnant at all for the last couple of days. All my symptoms (apart from exhaustion!) seem to have disappeared so I am trying not to panic about that.

My booking in appointment isn't until 17th April and I'm guessing I won't have a scan until May. It's dragging so much and we're desperate to tell people!

Amyrose82 · 29/03/2014 11:48

Good luck for today Tigsy!

Annarose2014 · 29/03/2014 11:51

I asked a nurse "hypothetically" what would happen if you'd a nurse visibly pregnant and she said they'd put them on another section as a matter of course.

Took me about five minutes to get pregnant. I could barely look those women in the face! No wonder I'm an emotional mess! Grin

Anna I'm sure they'd be happy you're not in there situation so don't worry too much :) must have been so sad though!

alita7 · 29/03/2014 12:10

maeanne don't worry lots of posters are only 5 weeks and I can tell you the 3 weeks since I was 5 weeks have got quick :) I'm just anxious to get to this scan!

didn't we say a while back we were going to put our weeks and days on the end of each post? We should keep doing that as it's easy to loose track :p

I'm feeling really impatient, a girl who I went to sxhool with just had her baby, so obviously there's pics on fb and now I can't wait to be holding mine :p It feels like the longest wait of my life. But then when I think about how long I waited to get pregnant again after my mmc (as I was only a teen) it isn't really so long :p

8 + 3.

BJZebra · 29/03/2014 12:11

Oh dear, very hormonal today. Accused DP of grumpiness when he was only tired and getting ready for work. Cried when he went to make his breakfast thinking he was annoyed that I hadn't made him some when DD and I had ours when he was still in bed. (The sane me know he's not annoyed and understands).
Skyping Mum in an hour as it's an effective way of ensuring DD and I get dressed and I put make up on. A dash of lippy helps me face the world better.

Any one else unusually anxious about things they hadn't considered before?

BJZebra · 29/03/2014 12:13

7.4 today

alita7 · 29/03/2014 12:17

oops thought it was Sunday for some reason so 8+ 2 not 3 :p

maeanne · 29/03/2014 12:31

Thanks likeaboss and alita Smile I think I'm finding it harder as I didn't find out until 8+4 with my dd and had a scan the next day (because I'd had bleeding). Really hope time speeds up a little!

I'm particularly desperate to tell dd(5) as she will be so excited. We don't want to do that until we've had the scan though and know all is ok.

Has anyone else told older siblings yet? How/when did you do it?

RandomInternetStranger · 29/03/2014 12:38

Me too! I have been desperate to tell DD and am all set to, but wanted to wait till my scan. But decided to tell her next week now. So excited! Can't wait to see her face!! Grin

alita7 · 29/03/2014 12:49

random I'm sure it will be a lovely experience, having dd that bit older. I was 6 when my little brother was born and it was just the two of us siblings and it was lovely being able to help do feeding and nappies and play mum, I really enjoyed being a big sister when he was little :) I'm hoping it will be similar with dsd and me.

MrsWombat · 29/03/2014 12:54

To huge posters worrying about their weight, I'm a size 16 and when the midwife weighed me my BMI was 29. (Which surprised her as I am very tall) She didn't say anything other than point out politely that if my BMI was 30 I would have to have a glucose test at however many weeks. If my BMI was 30 or over I'm sure she would have been polite about that too!

Tigsy · 29/03/2014 13:23

Thanks for the good luck wishes! Scan was great- everything looks as it should and saw the heartbeat which has massively reassured me. Dates were virtually bang on too. Looking forward to telling my parents tomorrow now!

7 + 3

WinterLover · 29/03/2014 13:23

anna my bmi is 26.1 and she said thats 'perfect'
