aghhh so tired and emotional.

They don't listen for a heartbeat untill 16 weeks here. Was the same with DS 3 years ago

With DD 2 years ago I didn't get to hear her heartbeat until the 20 week scan (although I'd found it myself after half an hour of searching at home at 18 weeks).

I'm got a horrid cold, really congested but don't want to take anything if I can help it so munching my way through fruit instead. On the plus side DD has nearly been asleep for 2 hours so I've been catching up with loads of TV!

Re heartbeat annarose, I think I was about halfway before I heard it last time too. I think it's just too hard to hear when they're so small.

amylou, likeaboss, tigsy, blamber - keeping everything crossed for you ladies, hope scans are all ok and no more bleeding.

greenstone pretzel sticks was my favourite last pregnancy. This time around ryvita crispbreads with Philly cheese. My morning sickness hasn't been that bad this time at all but I'm constantly hungry and feel sick if I don't eat regularly enough.

I can't remember who was craving apples up thread. I had the same thing with DD. I must have been getting through a big bag of Granny Smiths every couple of days.

I've had a right nightmare with my booking in appointment. Hospital sent me a letter for booking on the 22nd March. It was dated 21st and arrived today (27th). I rang the number and the women was like oh you need to speak to the midwives then why is your bloody number on the form I finally get through to someone after 15 minutes. They give me a new appointment, I tell my husband the date as he was going to watch DD and he's like, you know that is a bank h

Oops! A bank holiday. Just phoned back reception woman, oh no, you have to speak to the midwives again. Of course I can't actually get through to them. On the plus side I will have the same midwife as last time and she was lovely.

HRMumness I didn't have any bleeding. Just got myself in a ridiculous state yesterday when I randomly decided to do another pregnancy test and although positive, the line was much fainter. Ridiculous really and only myself to blame, as hadn't had any bleeding or pain to cause to worry. Been getting a bit worried today as sickness seems to have improved too, but I wouldn't have thought twice about that if I hadn't done the stupid test yesterday!

Grr... Trying not to worry too much. Got my private scan booked for Saturday anyway so not long to wait.

Sounds like they're a bit chaotic sorting out your appointment. I had to chase mine several times before they sent me an appointment, even though their website says if you send off the referral form they will act on it in 24 hours!

Hello! I'm new on here and would like to join in, assuming everything goes according to plan...
First time pregnancy, but away from home at the moment and not able to see my doctor til Monday... I had two positive tests and some symptoms last week, but apart from tiredness (poss from caffeine withdrawal!), lack of AF and getting up earlier than usual feel pretty much normal this week, so hard to believe it's not a figment of my imagination!
I bought some pregnancy vitamins as I had read online that that is what you're supposed to do, pharmacist asked if my doctor had recommended them and I felt like a total fraud!
According to an app on my phone(!), due date = 17 November. Fingers crossed, eh!

Nesselina I'm totally sympathetic I feel exactly the same. I'm surprised I'm not crying... symptoms seem to have stepped up a notch today worse sick feeling, more tired and emotional and much more sensitive boobs!

Hi everyone.

Had my booking in appointment yesterday. I'm slightly larger (BMI) than I was during my last pregnancy so need to start thinking about healthy food and more exercise. Everything else seems to be fine. Was given the date for my VBAC appointment and when to book my whooping cough vaccine. Was told when I have the nuchal scan I can also have the combined bloods as well, which I wasn't offered last time. Was glad to be reminded about dairy intake, as I don't have much so will have to up my intake. She also checked which prenatal tablets I was on, as they now recommend 10 thingie units for vitamin D which mine had. When I was in Asda later, the Asda own brand tablets only had 5. So watch out for that, ladies!

The appointment was in a doctors surgery in a different area, that wasn't my normal one, and it was slightly different! Never known a doctors surgery to have two security guards!

Still feeling sick, but thankfully haven't been yet. Looking forward to our private scan next week.

Hi ladies, can I ask how many weeks you were/will be on your booking in appointment? Last time I was 10 weeks before I saw anyone (GP receptionist said I couldn't see a doctor because I wasn't sick) and I remember it being such a long wait. So was expecting the same this time but when I phoned there was a cancellation and I was told I can go on Monday, I'll be 6+3 I'm worried I'll get told to go away! I did say this to the receptionist and she said she didn't know when your supposed to have the booking in appt.

Had my scan, there's a nice clear yolk sac in there, no heartbeat because its not advanced enough, I'm only 4 weeks 6 days... They were very happy with what they saw, but because I was still a bit worried, said I could come back in a fortnight so they can show my its heart beating.... I'll be 6-7 weeks along by then. They said they could see a ruptured cyst on the right ovary, and it's implanted on the right side of my uterus, which probably accounts for the pain at that side. God bless the NHS!

While I was waiting, two women clearly had bad news, which made me feel really sad for them :(

normally booking in is around 8 - 10 weeks. You can go to your gp from the first bfp :)

Horis - you are meant to have your booking in appointment by 10 weeks. (NICE standards)

At 6 weeks is fine. All they do is take blood pressure, bloods, urine, explain everything that will happen over the next 8 months, give you diet advice and take your history.

Alita, yes, I think so! My DP definitely does. He wants a little boy... I'm easy, but if I have two, I'd rather have a boy first, then a girl, simply because that's what I had growing up. My brother died very suddenly and unexpectedly at this time last year, so if it's a boy, we'll give him my brother's name as his middle name.

I asked about the hcg levels, and the nurse said they were fine, it showed it's a nice strong foetus.
