Good luck for your scans today, barmy, blamber and likea

Tigsy · 27/03/2014 08:23

Sorry missed you off my last post likea good luck for you today as well! Hope all is ok!

CarmineRose it's good that the doctor seemed positive about things. Hope the scan is ok and puts your mind at rest.

blamber · 27/03/2014 08:40

Thanks everyone. Spotting seems to have stopped. I called the Epau and they said to see the GP for a referral first. They also told me off for feeling my cervix. I know! It was an automatic thing though, I was so used to doing it to check for ovulation, of course making sure my fingers were clean. I will not do it anymore, I don't want to irritate it and it just gives more stress.

So I'm off to the GP today.

blamber · 27/03/2014 08:42

Good luck carmine. Hcg can vary wildly, so it's nothing to worry about. Especially if the GP is happy.

alita7 · 27/03/2014 08:52

good luck to everyone with scans and I hope all the spotting/ pains stop soon.

2 more shifts at this placement and no more work for ages (except essays) phew! just have to not be sick on any patients for 2 more days ;)

barmybunting · 27/03/2014 09:02

Just finished at the epu. The staff were brilliant! Scan showed baby dating just over 6 weeks with a lovely flickering heartbeat Smile . All looking ok thankfully, with no sign of why the bleeding is taking place. I was absolutely howling this morning when I saw more horrible pink bleeding when I went to the toilet, so I am feeling extremely relieved just now! Nurse told me to keep an eye on spotting and phone epu direct if anything changes with it (bar stopping obviously!). They tried an abdominal scan first but had to do an internal scan to see properly. I've been packed off with a scan picture of a funny looking smudge and heartbeat and am feeling much better!

Good luck to everyone else having scans today. I hope you can get seen quickly and all is well.

Thank you for keeping me sane over the last two weeks whilst I waited for the scan everyone. How many more weeks to go now? Wink

blamber · 27/03/2014 09:08

oh barmy, that is lovely!

fs2013 · 27/03/2014 09:08

I should of been in this group but I had a chemical pregnancy Sad hopefully I can be on the December one!

CarmineRose1978 · 27/03/2014 09:26

barmy that's wonderful! :)

fs2013, sorry to hear that... Good luck for next month!

CarmineRose1978 · 27/03/2014 09:26

blamber, thanks for the reassurance on the hcg levels... Will quiz the doc today at the scan too.

Amyrose82 · 27/03/2014 09:50

Wonderful news barmy! Grin And good luck to the rest of you ladies having scans today - fingers crossed for you all x

RandomInternetStranger · 27/03/2014 10:54

I'm going back home today after a week at my parents up north. Not looking forward to the 4 hour drive but will be nice to get back in my own bed and to a bath instead of showers! I still feel generally like crap - if it's not sickness, it's aches and cramps and if not that it's an inability to regulate my temperature and one minute shivering the next sweating, and if not that it's an inability to cope with stress and the slightest tiniest thing had me feeling like my blood pressure is through the roof pumping in my face, chest pains, out of breath, flustered and dizzy. And my skin is still so oily, it's horrible! Not managed to find the heartbeat on my doppler since the first time I found it last week which I know is not unusual and I was lucky to find it that one time but is starting to concern me a little. I just really want to know it's all fine before I tell my daughter, and I'm telling her next week. Might do a scan before since my NHS one isn't for another 4 weeks. Hmm High risk my backside, leaving the first scan till 13 weeks. Hmm

PosyFossilsShoes · 27/03/2014 11:03

Great news barmy!

I've got my first appointment next week and a very stern letter from the hospital telling me that I MUST bring a wee sample and I WILL NOT be given a scan at this appointment and I MUST allow AT LEAST three hours. Looking forward to it!

Annarose2014 · 27/03/2014 11:19

After two 13 hour shifts in a row, I honestly feel like I'm walking through treacle today. My legs are agony! I am so tired I haven't even been for a shower yet!

Had hotdogs for breakfast. I have officially reached Turbo Pigginess.

Greenstone · 27/03/2014 11:19

Lovely news barmy, hope everyone else with appointments this morning is doing well too.

I'm just back from my GP for the old confirm and refer it was good actually, GP was really nice and I didn't get charged for that initial apt which was great (on my last pg I was charged for the first one even though maternity care is free on the Irish public system Hmm). Also I was bitching before about how shit the hospital closest to me is in terms of wait times for scans: GP reckoned they have gotten very slightly better so I should have bloods/booking in apt around 14 weeks and scan around 19. Still very Hmm Hmm compared to the NHS and even other Irish hospitals but it is at least a step up.

Posy they sound just so welcoming, eh!? Bring snacks and a book is my advice.

blamber · 27/03/2014 11:28

Just came back from the GP. He said that spotting is normal and mild pain too. He wasn't concerned, so didn't mention any scans. I didn't dare tell him about the cervix - I'm just going to ignore it and not worry about it! If I'm not bleeding then I should be ok!

Greenstone · 27/03/2014 11:47

Oh that's good blamber. Let's hope the pesky spotting stays away!

ladydolly · 27/03/2014 11:48

Morning all,

Good luck for scans and apts today.

Just had my booking in appt, I should have been given my pack when I made the appt apparently. All the paperwork and have to make a seperate appt for the bloods.... why they didn't tell me that so I could make the appointments to follow each other I have no idea!

New food fave? Tyrells sweet and salty popcorn - I can't get it in my face fast enough!

PosyFossilsShoes · 27/03/2014 12:03

I need a new food. It needs to be stodgy, carby and comforting, suitably bland, tasty and virtually calorie free so that I can eat it all day. I'm constantly hungry and hungry makes me feel nauseous, so I don't really fancy anything, so I get hungry…

Greenstone · 27/03/2014 12:14

How about ricecakes with butter or peanut butter Posy?

Or little new potatoes with some olive oil and salt. Not calorie free but healthy and carby and taste good cold as well as warm.

Dunno what I'm on about really, I had fruit n' fibre cereal for breakfast (never eat cereal!) followed up by a sticky bun and cuppa after my GP appointment. I eat like a loon in the mornings and then hate food by 3pm. I cooked a roast chicken dinner yesterday, God knows why. DD rejected it (she was tired and irritable), DH is vegetarian, and it really didn't appeal to me either! Most of it has been frozen and now there is a chicken carcass lurking in a pot for stock that I can't bring myself to make. bleurgh.

Greenstone · 27/03/2014 12:16

There was an utterly gorgeous 8-week old in the GP waiting room. Squishy cute little thing I wanted to steal her SQUEE!

WinterLover · 27/03/2014 12:28

hope DS wants a nap today. Finish work any min now and almost asleep Sad

alita7 · 27/03/2014 12:53

good news barmy! do insist on a scan if it continues though. But like most of us its probably nothing :)

posy I will join you on the hunt... though crisps seem to be my fail safe

greenstone you don't need to steal her you're growing your own :D

today I feel a slightly more grating type of sick, I don't feel more sick exactly it's just right at the top of my chest near my throat and every smell is awful it's definitely worse than it has been :(

Annarose2014 · 27/03/2014 13:07

Rang my GPs surgery about an appt to hear the heartbeat next week. The receptionist advised me to wait longer. She said that their doppler isn't as strong as hospital ones and there have been occasions where even at 9 weeks (which I'll be) the heart eat hasn't been audible and the parents go away freaked out.

I was SO looking forward to that! But knowing my luck we wouldn't hear anything and I'm definately not emotionally strong enough at the moment to deal too well with that!

I have an antenatal appt at the hospital at 10 weeks - do they listen for the heartbeat at those? I don't know what to expect except taking bloods and a midwife taking a history.

PosyFossilsShoes · 27/03/2014 13:08

Ricecakes are a good idea greenstone

It's like being in a parallel universe where I'm a fussy eater, lol. Maybe this is intended to prepare us to sympathise with our future children when they're having food tantrums!
