Hello. Scan went fine! Baby was a bit lazy and had snuggled at the bottom of my womb so not the best pics, but was fine. Am a couple of days ahead as I thought I might be (now 13weeks 1 day) so new EDD is 17th Sept. Will take a few days to get combined blood tests back, but nuchal fold was 2mm so in normal range, so am hopeful all okay. Will try and upload a pic at some point but got to go to work now sadly. :( xxx

Mummyinpink1289 · 13/03/2014 12:45

we have the same due date KitKat Smile

DearDinah · 13/03/2014 15:12

MW didn't check for heartbeat, really disappointed! In desperation bought an app for iPhone, it's crap!! Lol

TheOnlySeven · 13/03/2014 15:13

17th here too :)

topmammy I think the ideal time is between around 20-26 weeks. I had one at 23 weeks with DD2, really amazing seeing what looks like an actual baby in there rather than a fuzzy image from the 2D scans.

I always thought the second trimester started at 13 weeks. I'm sticking with that anyway, after my dates were put back a fortnight at my dating scan the first trimester seems to have lasted forever.

Those iPhone app ones really are rubbish, and dangerous too IMO.

Great news cookie.

isitme what will they do if it's still the same next time? Have you had PE before?

OP posts:
isitme1 · 13/03/2014 15:35

Nope. Never had it but was aware that due to kidney problems im more at risk. They might start on meds to help bp? Its not overly high but todays was higher than last and same before that I think. like I dont have enough to bloody worry about!
The dr from renal will see me in renal ante natal so its consistent. He was lovely.

xxmissbrightsidexx · 13/03/2014 16:12

Lots of ladies due on 17th, I am too :D
Hope everyones okay xx

BexBoo12 · 13/03/2014 17:07

Great news about the lovely scans today Smile

Dinah, not sure if it's something you'd be interested in but we bought the angel sounds doppler off amazon - paid about twenty pound for it and it's brilliant, really easy to find heartbeat too. iPhone app is very disappointing Hmm

My hubby has just surprised me with an early sexing scan!! Booked in on 24 march (will be 16+1 on that day) and not sure whether I'm excited or just a bit annoyed lol as I'd said I wasn't sure if I wanted to know or not - he is desperate to know!! I guess his heart is in the right place. He's even paid an extortionate price for the heartbeat to be recorded and put into a special bear as baby's first gift bless him.

isitme1 · 13/03/2014 17:13

Awww thats really nice bex!!
Dh is fed up with all the appointments and im only 16 weeks lol. Will be having a hell of a lot more!

BexBoo12 · 13/03/2014 17:34

Have you had extra appointments isit? I've only had 1 with my midwife (booking in), 2 scans (1 early at 8 weeks due to confusion over dates) and 2 blood tests. My mum was surprised I've not had more though so now I'm worried? Got an appointment next week with midwife for the 16 week check - apart from listening to the heartbeat, can anyone else shed some light on what else she will do?

Fairypants · 13/03/2014 17:55

I've had the same Bex - I think that's normal. At the 16 week appt they will check urine, do blood pressure and ask about symptoms. That's all I can remember them doing last time round, it's actually only 10 mins usually.

topmammy · 13/03/2014 18:53

Got my appt next week too with MW. Was hoping it would be longer than 10 mins as I'll be taking time off work hehe.

I hope my baby doesn't get too used to hearing me raise my voice and sound cross as I'm having to do that quite a lot with certain little devils interesting children in my class.

I've pulled a muscle on my side/lower back already by stupidly moving a box in my classroom. They weren't joking when they tell you not to do any heavy lifting!

Yay for today's scans Grin

Bex I am super jealous of your early dating scan! Your DHs teddy bear heartbeat idea is really nice aw :)

kicksandgiggles · 13/03/2014 19:22

Marking my place as this fell off my list of threads. Very busy with work right now (I work freelance), but things should calm down in a few weeks. I hope everyone is well.

BexBoo12 · 13/03/2014 19:54

Thanks fairy - 10 minutes?! I will feel robbed!! Haha!!

Topmammy I can't wait!! It's only cost him 40 pound which I think is just fabulous!! You get a 15 minute scan, check over baby, listen to heartbeat, find out if it's pink or blue flavour and get 2 pictures. I think it's really good. I'm made up. Can't wait!! I've got the midwife earlier that day too so it'll feel like a very bump/baby orientated day x

topmammy · 13/03/2014 20:56

£40 is really good. I think I'll just about be able to manage to wait till 9th April til mine but I think I'm going to look into one of those 3D scans. I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can have 4D scans? What the heck are those though lol?! Funnily enough a parent asked me today is there such a thing as a 4D shape. I was like ummm.... Blush I teach 2D and 3D shape and that's all lol.

Topsyloulou · 13/03/2014 21:01

Has everyone decided yet if they are finding out the gender at the 20 week scan? Got mine on 17th April and really can't decide what to do. I want a surprise but DP is desperate to find out. I'm hoping in a way that it's obvious during the scan & then the decision is taken away!

isitme1 · 13/03/2014 21:37

Bex ive had 7 in total
1 gp
1 community mw for referral
1 booking in
1 mix up appointment (was supposed to see consultant but was mw)1 consultant 1 mw 1 consultant (today)
I have extra due to health problems
Most women have a handful (like I did first pg)
shit. Just remembered need to have antibiotic!

I will be finding out if baby co operates lol x

isitme1 · 13/03/2014 21:37

as I was writing post I got a good lil kick Grin

topmammy · 13/03/2014 21:44

Wowww isitme!! That's amazing. I had been prodding and massaging my stomach hoping to feel something more definite but nope not yet Hmm

Fairypants · 13/03/2014 21:46

I did a maths master class at school where they taught that 4d is like the inside of a shape. Imagine looking at an ice cube and you can see patterns on the inside of it like tiny fractures. I assume that in the case of these scans they probably mean either movement or sound as the 4th dimension.

We will be finding out the sex. Dd1 has been poring over the scan photos and trying a bit of nub theory so I don't think she could cope if we didn't find outGrin

cookielove · 13/03/2014 21:50

I have been booked in for an extra scan at 17 weeks, dh wants to find out the sex I'm still on the fence!

Has anyone heard from kitkat?

KitKat1985 · 13/03/2014 21:57

Hello. Lovely photos cookielove. Really pleased all was well given how nervous you were. :)

Will try and upload mine tomorrow probably. I've only just got home from work as been on a late shift and back on an early shift tomorrow, so up at 5.30am, so haven't really got time tonight, especially as am rubbish with computers so will probably take me ages! However, all was well, and feels very 'real' suddenly, in a way that seeing a line on a stick doesn't. :)

I think me and DH will be finding out the sex because we're too impatient not too! Also it gives us a chance to buy some gender-specific bits, etc. xxx
