Me too - still sick (though a lot less) and spent most of last night in pain with really severe sudden heartburn from around 2am, thought I was dying! Doc has prescribed me some drugs for it and essentially told me to take next week off - felt so relieved, hadn't realised I was so worried about trying to hold it all together. Hoping if sickness continues to ease off, can get heartburn under control and have a few days proper rest then I can actually just get on with this pregnancy!

weebairn · 07/03/2014 19:53

still sick
Lots of sympathy to everyone else struggling with this.

Made a monumental effort with the toddler today and did an hour of very messy painting in the morning and went out for a runaround the fountains and the parks in the afternoon. Zonked. Feel like a slightly less shit mum though.

Work is not getting any easier either… haven't had any time off sick and feel like I am slowly grinding to a halt. Not when I'm there though, it's very manic and stressful.

kicksandgiggles I am still very nervous about it being twins! Good luck with all that, I think I would try for a vaginal delivery if all was straightforward too (I had a straightforward first delivery).

Missingcaffeine your work sound very nosy, I wouldn't read too much into it! I don't think mine would notice if I dropped dead. Last pregnancy I was in scrubs and the first time someone noticed and commented was just after 30 weeks. I had a little bump, but not that little!! quite looking forward to flaunting bump in fitted trousers and tight top this time

11 weeks tomorrow.

weebairn · 07/03/2014 19:59

Sorry caffeine you were asking for clothing suggestions. I think a longline cardigan over a more fitted top is quite subtle and smart. Or perhaps a looser-style shirt/blouse over trousers?

weebairn · 07/03/2014 20:03

Sorry I am really meaning to say more supportive things and they're not coming out right because my brain is mashed with tiredness.

I just wanted to say, I also started a new job at 14 weeks pregnant last time, and I was very anxious and scared, new jobs are hard enough when you're not hormonal and exhausted - so be nice to yourself and take it easy where you can and I think telling your manager is a good idea.

Inbl00m · 07/03/2014 20:07

Missing I wear smart office wear and find skinny jersey trousers and loose tops (preferably with vertical stripes/fabric panels - Mango do a few) work really well. Tucking the top loosely into the trousers creates the illusion of a waist too Smile I'm small so belly is already massively out of proportion with the rest of my body. Trying every trick in the book to keep it a secret for as long as possible!

topmammy · 07/03/2014 20:24

Missing I've got a few tops from Next that have a fabric panel down the front made of slightly floaty material that is good for disguising a bump.

I still haven't told the kids in my class or the parents about my baby news. I wonder if they think I'm starting to look a bit podgy haha.

I woke up last night with really bad stomach ache which scared me to death as in my sleepy state I thought it was contractions or something! But no, just IBS type stomach ache. Hope having an upset stomach doesn't bother baby at all Confused

TGIF I'm sooo tired!

bugoven · 08/03/2014 04:11

top I am in pain at least a couple of times a day with digestive issues that are all new in pregnancy. I've been told that all the gurgling is actually comforting to baby. Glad someone gets to enjoy my musical tummy =)

amy246 · 08/03/2014 08:22

I had terrible stomach pain which also woke me up. I was so worried and thought something was wrong. However I started increasing my intake of fibre by munching on bran flakes (no milk) and it dramatically improved! :) it was scary at the time tho

rockin20s · 08/03/2014 10:06

Oh my poor dh is down with the flu. Had to make him breakfast in bed. Not feeling 100 % myself, sinus is blocked

DearDinah · 08/03/2014 10:49

Can I rejoin? I was on this thread a while ago, had a long lapse due to losing my mother in law, she died on the 21st feb my first scan date. DH missed it, I went ahead with it to bring the pictures back before she died. Sadness/happiness felt at the same time was the strangest. Credit to my hospital, they were wonderfully sensitive & caring.
Took DH & DFIL to a private scan last weekend so they could see our treasure & sonographer hinted it might be a girl from the nub theory. No doubt as to what her middle name will be.
Anyway due now on the 3rd so earlier than expected.
I hope everyone 2nd trimester brings comfort & wonderful suprises xxx

Welcome back dinah, sorry to hear about your MIL.

Sorry to hear people suffering from flu, sickness and stomach upsets. I was having severe cramps the other night, the stomach upset that followed was quite a relief.

Afternoon all,

Dinah so sorry to hear about your MIL Flowers

Im def' improving in energy levels and sickness is mostly gone. Managed to go shopping today Grin bought some maternity clothes.

However, when dh agreed to this baby he said he would move his office out of the spare room into downstairs playroom, playroom toys into ds room. Today he basically said he didn't want to as he doesn't like the playroom (previously a garage and was converted- has window). He didn't have any suggestions as to how we would arrange things though. If he expects me and baby to go in there, then we will have a problem. If its not good enough for him to work in occasionally how is it ok for me and baby every day/night? Even ds doesn't like it in there! arrgghhh

We need a bigger house but that's not on the cards for a few years yet.

Im not happy!

TheOnlySeven · 08/03/2014 16:25

white is there any possibility of spending any money on the playroom to improve it? What does he not like about it? I'd not be happy either if he's already agreed to it .

OP posts:
whiteblossom · 08/03/2014 17:00

Seven The playroom is dark and gloomy. When we moved in I wanted to put a couple of velux windows but dh poo poo'd it. We have had the roof done now so no chance and theres no point as we want to move. Its also long and thin, a bit arkward for furniture. Its got a concrete floor (carpeted) and a cupboard with all the elecs/meters which can be give a draft.

His current office (third bedroom) has a massive window the length of the room, view, full sunshine, really warm and already fitted out as his office (cave). Also as it has fitted wardrobes he uses it as his dressing room so as not to disturb me in the am and I get all the wardrobes in the bedroom Grin

It was originally his idea in the first place!

My ds wants to tell his class Im pg...I think its a bit soon, what do you all think (14 w today)?

TheOnlySeven · 08/03/2014 17:58

Is it common knowledge that you're pregnant yet and how old is DS? I'd say it depends if he's old enough to cope with having to tell his friends if anything were to go wrong, though having said that by 14 weeks the risk is tiny, and technically there is always that extremely small risk of complications at any stage.

OP posts:
whiteblossom · 08/03/2014 18:14

ds has just turned 8. No one at the school knows...but if he tells his class then it will get round and I don't really want to be the latest gossip, Im quite private. I was kinda thinking the bump would make the announcement! I feel bad that he cant share this with his friends, I think it would help make it more real for him...Im torn.

TheOnlySeven · 08/03/2014 20:07

My attitude is kind of that people will gossip whenever they find out, I'd rather get it over and done with tbh. Also you might be more likely to be the victim of is she/isn't she gossip when you look bigger without the definite massive bump.

I hope that doesn't sound too dismissive. If it makes you feel better I'm a carrier of a genetic condition which my DS has, a baby boy would have a 50% chance of having it. DH overheard someone say that we should have had DS aborted because of it. This being DC4 I know we're going to be the victims of some rather awful judgmental gossip. Personally it's my life and my decision, I couldn't care less what the village gossips think of me.

TheOnlySeven · 08/03/2014 20:08

Should probably also have said something along the lines of the people who matter will be pleased for you. Anyone else isn't worth worrying about :)

Thanks for the well wishes

rockin20s · 09/03/2014 04:02

Dinah welcome back, sorry to here about you mil, hope Ye are all coping ok.

seven I agree gossip will happen whether you like it or not. Too young, too old, too poor, too many, the list goes on. People just like to gossip.

Went for a lovely message today and had lunch with my two best friends. The message was great, even though I'm only 12 weeks she gave me the proper pregnancy message. Will have to go back for another when I'm 6-7months pregnant.

Also went our to dinner last night and eat a ice pasta dish. Felt so full and burpy after it that I had to put a bucket next to my bed as I felt sick, thankfully I didn't.

Yet its now 4am and in starving WTF. I think today could be another all you can eat carb day. Wish i had bought bread id murder some buttery toast now.

Wide awake and seriously considering baking some bread now. LOL

weebairn · 09/03/2014 08:03

Hmmm! This morning I woke up (got woken up)… normally I lie in bed with the toddler giving her a feed purely selfishly so I can remain lying down but today I was sitting up, chatting to groaning boyfriend, reading a book, feeding the kid, at 6am; then I bounced out of bed, made me and DD eggs for breakfast, then instead of cbeebies and lie flat on the floor we played a game where she was a robot with a box on her head and chased her round the house, then when boyfriend got up I cleaned the bathroom because it is gross, there has been minimal housework happening here of late.

WHAT IS HAPPENING!? HAVE I GOT BETTER??

Of course it is only 8am so might crash and get sick again yet :)

11+1!

Inbl00m · 09/03/2014 08:08

Dinah Sorry to hear about your mil. Sounds like you're coping really well.

White is there no chance of putting an inexpensive velux-style in instead of a velux? I'd be frustrated too.

Has anyone else got their scan tomorrow/this week? Good luck to all who have. Feel like I'm holding my breath waiting!
