dontevenblink I'm so jealous of you living in NZ, I l

BooSurprise · 06/03/2014 10:36

Arrrh phone! I love NZ are you South or North Island?

HippyJess · 06/03/2014 10:37

Morning folks, glad we mostly seem to be starting to feel better! Hoping we all get our "glow" soon Wink

I have my 12 week scan this afternoon and am so anxious! Feels like the biggest exam of my life and nothing I can do to prepare, that's the only way to describe it... Eep! Confused

KitKat1985 · 06/03/2014 11:16

Hope it goes well HippyJess. Am sure it'll go well and you see a nice wriggly baby! Mine isn't until next week (it was originally supposed to be tomorrow but the hospital changed the appointment). Trying to tell myself that at least by being nearly 13 weeks by then I should get some good scan photos, but just anxious now really to find out all is well and wish it was still for tomorrow. Already feeling a bit 'twitchy'..... x

rockin20s · 06/03/2014 11:26

good luck Hippy
kitkat we can count down together, my scan is next week when i will be 12w4d

KitKat1985 · 06/03/2014 13:06

Ooh what day is yours rockin20s? Mine is Thursday the 13th and I should be 12+6 by LMP (although for various reasons I think ovulated early in the month we conceived - e.g, I got BFP 4/5 days prior to my period being due) so I wouldn't be totally surprised if at scan they tell me I'm a few days further along that what I think I am. Ahh, wish it was next week already. Also we want to get a scan before we tell extended family, etc; and to be honest my stomach is getting impossible to hide, so the sooner we can just tell people the easier it'll be!

Weighed self yesterday - have already put on 4 and a half pounds, as was 10 stone, 3 pounds at start and now 10 stone, 7 and a half pounds. Not sure how normal this is? Especially since up to 8 weeks-ish I didn't gain anything (felt too nauseous to eat much!) so I'm basically putting on just over a pound a week now. My BMI pre-pregnancy was 24. Is this about an average weight gain rate in pregnancy? It's baby #1 for me so I've no idea what rate of weight gain is normal? Confused

rockin20s · 06/03/2014 13:26

my scan is on Monday, i am pretty certain of my dates and had an early scan at 7w2d which but me at 7w1d so only a day out.

dont worry about the weight gain, im heavier than you and thought i had but on 2 pounds last week but then yesterday they were gone again. it all depends o the water retention, constipation etc. and i think they say 3 pounds in the first trimester is normal.

Well after doing my best to eat ALL THE CARBS IN THE WORLD yesterday i have been doing better today, only have breakfast and lunch and no snacking in between. slept really badly last night again. seem to only be sleeping for 2-3 hours at a time and then awake for an hour. really sick of this hoping it gets a bit better over the next few weeks

kkfairybrains · 06/03/2014 13:50

I'm Monday for scan too rockin! Can't wait for it

KitKat1985 · 06/03/2014 14:30

Oooh exciting, lots of scans coming up!

Also sympathising on the sleep thing rockin20s. Aside from now needing to get up to pee 3-4 times a night, DH has recently re-started snoring. Last night he woke me up constantly. I always roll him over because that normally shuts him up, but last night he would just be quiet for a few minutes then start snoring again. I know it's not his fault, (he's always had ENT issues, and has recently started having lots of nosebleeds again so I suspect there's some 'nasal issue' going on again), but it's bloody irritating all the same. Angry I suppose I should get used to being woken up constantly though. Sigh.

Newlywed2013 · 06/03/2014 15:25

Hey ladies sorry I've been a bit useless! Good news is baby is doing well and HG seems to be calming down! Still sick but nowhere near as much! :-) and I don't have the constant feeling of nausea!
I have however been referred to a consultant because of the significant weightloss and having a bmi of 15.something! I'm
Still being monitored by gp closely about that but food is staying down and I am back to work (only 3hr shifts max a day at the moment)
Got an awesome scan picture of baby with thumbs up but it also looks like baby has devil horns!! Hubby and I are in for an interesting time I think!
My edd has been moved forward by a day to 5th sept now 14 weeks tomorrow :-)

candi404 · 06/03/2014 15:50

Hi! I'm new Smile I had my scan on Friday! Wow!! What an experience! Due date is 8 September. Yay!

HippyJess · 06/03/2014 16:13

Lazy sleepy baby Grin had to do some weird rocking motions to wake it up! But then it did some cute little wiggles and we saw the heart beating and it was amazing :) so chuffed! Yay!

HippyJess · 06/03/2014 16:13

Oh yeah and my EDD is now the 12th instead of the 17th :)

cookielove · 06/03/2014 16:42

Hello :)

Just had my booking in, my scan is booked for this time next week!

I have everything crossed it will be okay!

hippy wow how exciting!

candi congratulations!

newlywed so glad your sickness is easing up!

JulieHE · 06/03/2014 17:16

I'm 2nd Sept so now 14 weeks and think all is ok. Pretty sure I'm unlikely to get a call from the hospital now about blood test showing the little one is higher risk.

JulieHE · 06/03/2014 17:24

If anyone's looking for maternity clothes, Asos has been recommended to me by a friend. They apparently match to your pre-pregnancy sizes.
I don't know about anyone else but i thought what NewLook offers as maternity clothes was pretty dull. I still wanna look good even though I'll be carrying a bump over the next few months!
Any recommendations on where you can get nice white shirts for work that can grow with the bump would be great.

Fairypants · 06/03/2014 18:30

Welcome candiSmile
Great news on the scan jess and on getting a scan date cookie.
Its my wedding anniversary tomorrow but DH couldn't wait to give me my presents- a cath kidston change bag amongst other thingsGrin I also told my boss today! I wasn't going to say anything until next week but my colleague handed in his notice so I figured if they were thinking about staffing levels it would be best for them to have all the info. They were really great but I'm glad I'd already thought about when and how much mat leave I want cos he asked loads of questions.

topmammy · 06/03/2014 18:37

Goods news about your scan Jess :)

Just out of interest Fairy how much mat leave are you taking? I'm just thinking about mine at the mo.

dontevenblink · 06/03/2014 18:48

Morning all from NZ! Boosurprise I'm on the south island in Christchurch. Is such a beautiful place, we just moved right next to the beach, but haven't been able to make as much of it as I hoped due to feeling a bit rubbish with the pregnancy!
Hope you all have a good night, I'm off on school run now - much rather be in bed Smile

Cindy5389 · 06/03/2014 19:37

Omg fairypants can't believe the same ring happened to u regarding a colleague handing in their notice so having to tell work early. That only happened to me yesterday. Happy wa for tomorrow..

Cindy5389 · 06/03/2014 19:38

Thing* - stupid phone

OneInAMinion · 06/03/2014 20:09

I finally have a scan date! runs around excitedly like cookie...and I only have to wait until Tuesday afternoon SmileWinkGrin

Thanks for the reassuring words Bex, Don'tEven & WeeBairn. They've definitely helped and Tuesday is exactly what I need to start getting excited about it all.

Glad to hear the positive stories picking up on the thread!

BooSurprise · 06/03/2014 20:15

Gah dontevenblink I'm even more jealous now! we lived on the South Island too, it is just the most beautiful place and I miss it everyday!
Those worrying about weight, I put on almost a stone in my first trimester previously, but then very little in my second, and then more in my third, key is just to try to eat sensibly and def not for two!

cookielove · 06/03/2014 20:15

oneinaminion Tuesday, i am so jealous, well Thursday is only two days later so not long, not long! If hadn't managed to change my booking in i would still be waiting for that this time next week Shock

Oh i am definitely not going back to work until i have been given the all clear as the child who has mumps has been let back into nursery after only 3 days off when it is meant to be 5-7 days exclusion!!

OneInAMinion · 06/03/2014 20:25

I thought it'd be another week or so cookie so I'm over the moon!

Good advice Boo. I've been much lazier and less bothered about my diet / exercise since finding out I was pregnant, but I don't want to get drawn into this eating for two myth, so I'm back counting calories and being better again.
