mrsb have you got many people on the fb page?

MrsB2013 · 05/03/2014 22:06

I think there's 14 of us now, so not many at the moment. It's nice as we can share scan photo's and things we've been buying!

NancyinCali · 05/03/2014 22:15

Things you've been buying mainly MrsB Grin

Lovely to hear all the good scan news!

MrsB2013 · 05/03/2014 22:44

Nancy I have a shopping addiction ;)

liquidstate · 06/03/2014 04:21

I have used Aqueous cream since a child for eczema, its brilliant! Use it like soap or as a moisturiser at night.

There has also been a nursery flash on the facebook group, its very exciting! Plus its nice to know that I am not the only one obsessively buying stuff Grin.

For those reading/berkshire based there is a windmill sale on friday morning in Woodcote village hall. I have been told this is much better and less 'push and shove' than the NCT sales. I am going.

ZingSweetMango · 06/03/2014 07:23

do you think it's ok for me to strangle MIL?

she had agreed to look after kids on 15th April so we can have the scan. I told her I'd book it. this was on Tuesday.
she has just sent a text that sorry but she won't be available. Shock
good thing I was too busy to book it yesterday.

so pissed off.
she thinks scans are harmful and was warning me to not do it.
I explained why it's important to me and that there's no evidence of ultrasound causing any fetal damage whatsoever.

then she is suddenly unavailable.
Angry

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 06/03/2014 09:52

Plate good tip on the sudocream. I have suddenly developed a rash on one wrist, will give it a try.

Also I usually have no patience for the "ooh, pregnancy rage, I'm so hormonal" nonsense, as I think adults should be able to control themselves and it's special pleading so I want to make it clear I'd be cross even if I weren't pregnant. My commute this morning was horrid. Awful woman across the aisle spent 15 minutes slathering her cats bum face in horrible smelly creams (honestly, it was foul). Then a chap stood beside me, resting his bag on my shoulder. Then when I shook it off he got his wallet out of said filthy bag and blew ash and dust off of it and onto me! Then a really twattish guy about my age on the bus was drumming out a stupid tempo on his stupid hard suitcase. He had a stupid hat on so I could tell he was obviously really cool (which is no doubt why he wanted to share his drumming). But I wanted to smack him.

This kind of pent-up petty frustrations can't be good for me. Or for the annual appraisal I'm going to have this morning. Might let a few deeply held convictions about the company slip out...! Moan, rant, whine, whinge...!

BlueC2 · 06/03/2014 16:58

zing and homeis sorry you've had frustrating mornings!

pixie and plate so glad all well with scans.

I am shattered after guiding DM and DSD around Ikea for their first shopping trip there whilst also keeping DS entertained-he was very good but we have come home with a lifesize doggy teddybear which he 'looked after' around the store and then Grandma bought it for him! It's as big as he is!

Howly · 06/03/2014 17:46

I'm really anxious about my scan tomorrow, yet excited at the same time! Looking forward to seeing our baby again but what if something is wrong!? Argh, making me anxious!

elliejjtiny · 06/03/2014 17:48

Zing YANBU! Some idiot woman butted in when I was showing off my scan photo of DS1 and gave me a lecture about how dangerous scans were.

Scan today showed a happy healthy little boy, weighing 1lb 1oz. Only worrying thing was a low placenta so I have to get that checked later.

Plateofcrumbs · 06/03/2014 18:03

Good luck tomorrow Howly! You're a tall one as well aren't you? My baby seems to be inherited my legs (have just put a pic on the facebook group) - hopefully I've not burdened the poor thing with my knees as well. No wonder I've been feeling a lot of kicking - legs everywhere!

coco808 · 06/03/2014 18:18

glad to hear of all the happy scans Smile
been reading but have had no time to write

I have started using pure cocoa butter for dry skin and stretch marks. It is really helping the dry skin. Will have to see if develop any stretch marks

I have got my heart set on underwater theme or finding nemo theme for the nursery but can't find any bedding bundles in the U.K. Quite a few in America but they wont deliver Sad.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated Grin

Howly · 06/03/2014 19:28

plateofcrumbs yes I am! I felt strong kicks this morning it was lovely so yes I think its has long legs too! I just hope it's got legs - I had a dream it didn't!!

I've been using bio oil every night since I got pregnant so that helps my skin stretching, I also have recent appendectomy scars and the oil helps to fade them!

I was looking at nursery themes today and I'm gutted I can't decorate our rental property or put anything on the walls so I'm going to have to get inventive!!

Howly · 06/03/2014 19:41

MrsB I've sent you my email address through private message for fb group!

fifi669 · 06/03/2014 19:44

Is there a July fb group?

osinachi · 06/03/2014 19:49

Hello everyone.
Glad all scans have been good. Had mine today and sonographer was very pleased with baby's development. I didn't want to find out sex but dh did so I telepathically instructed baby not to oblige and am glad to say it's listening to mummy already :) The only problem was that since it hunched over on its knees it was difficult to check its chest so I had to do a hip wriggle dance..... Blush didn't help, was sent out for about 10mins but baby seemed to have gone to sleep. Eventually after a lot of prodding and me turning in various directions, the checks were done. Was told I seem to have low lying placenta so another scan scheduled for 32weeks. Am not bothered cos I've read it normally resolves on its own. He said that might have caused my earlier spotting.
Set up our pram on Sunday and love it!! It's a petite star kurvi and has everything. Not feeling moved to buy anything else though. Saw a nursery set on groupon : has cot changing table and chest of drawers, that's tempting so considering that but not feeling the urge to buy clothes yet.....

mummytobejuly2014 · 06/03/2014 20:37

having another frumpy day of not being able to find something nice to wear dress down friday. came home made the dinner, cleaned the kitchen, emptied dishwasher (OH only chore but never bothers his arse) packed it, ate dinner & tidied up. picked up all OH dirty clothes from bathroom, landing, side of bed and put 2nd wash on. stripped our double bed with king size duvet (OH is quite the duvet hogger) and put on lovely new fresh bed clothes feeling knackered but well pleased after wrestling it on by myself. sat on edge of bed to take off chipped nail polish and tipped the whole bottle of blue remover over new bedclothes (my side of course) and on to carpet. of course OH witnessed this accident & I got a moan moan moan abt smell/mess/ruined bedclothes. my lovely new bedclothes are now drowned in water to weaken/wash out remover as I cannot be arsed to strip the bed again. wanted the house to look half nice for vistors at wknd & might as well not have bothered. feeling well sorry for myself & the fact I have to work overtime on sat 6am til 12 :(

glad scans are going well! my little man is doing star jumps by the feel/sight of my belly lol

ZingSweetMango · 06/03/2014 20:50

coco

look on Ebay. (my first port of call!)
I know that not brand new things make some people feel uncomfortable or even guilty, but baby stuff is rarely overused so you get really good quality stuff and save a bit of money.
or it will give you ideas where to look

also check out Pinterest. you might get ideas there.
if nothing else you could go for plain colours for bedding and get themed bunting and accessories.

Great news on scans all, especially Plate after last time!

Howly There are stickers available for nurseries, as well as stick-on borders in B&Q etc. although I don't know how well either of those come off...might be worth a look though?

Dragged DH out tonight to have a sneaky peak in Mamas & Papas and a nice dinner as our planning permission was ruddy well refused! With no refutable reasoning so far (I just saw the verdict on the council portal online - hoping more info will come in the official letter) which means we're back to the drawing board, literally. We'll have to wait and see what the architect says about the likelihood of overturning the verdict if we reduce the size / address any concerns they might have - and then see what the timeline is likely to be. This all means we will probably not be able to start the build before bean arrives and we'll have to do some serious juggling in the house to fit both of us working from home, bean & bean things and just general living. And if the process is likely to be long or not at all an option, we'll still have to do those things so that we can live here comfortably until such time we can afford to move to a house that is comparable to what we were planning to build.

Anyhoo. Week till hols. Can't. Wait.

Lovely to hear all the scan news.

Howly, the Jojo Maman sticker sets definitely come off. I know because we moved our daughter's room and transferred the stickers. They still look like new (she loves them) and the walls in her old room are fine.

Bloody insomnia (grrrr)

icklekid · 07/03/2014 05:43

Hi all,

So good to read of lots of good news and scans. Zing is there anyone else who could help other than mil? Can understand your frustration though!

Oh under the sea nursery will get on the hunt coco

ZingSweetMango · 07/03/2014 06:09

ickle

that is an impressive list!Smile

I cried about the situation to a very good friend of mine (not expecting anything other than a hug) and she offered to look after them all for a day!Shock Shock Shock Shock

I then cried some more at her kindness and generosity.
She said I do so much for her by looking after her son at least for one day every half term/holiday so she can work and not worry, it's the least she can do.

Friends like that really worth their weight in gold. or more.
so I'm booking the scan today - back to being excited!Smile

(MIL still hasn't explained why she got suddenly so busy.
And she had the opportunity to say no so why she'd say yes then cancel is beyond me.
Still angry with her for letting is down. And it's not just my hormones.
MrZing was furious too)

and breathe

frostina · 07/03/2014 09:17

Hey all,
Sorry I've been away so long, a mixture of work, tiredness and general madness as usual.
My due date has been amende to the 3rd July, and our 20 week scan was good, butth e sonographer was too busy trying to teach a student and/or being a grumpy ass to tell us if it's a boy or a girl, so we're having a surprise!

Have to say, we're not looking for a buggy, we don't have storage room and I hate them anyway. Prob buy a stroller later on. Much to the disgust of one of the girls I work with - 'what will you do without a buggy?!'

Main concerns now are getting through the next 17ish weeks without getting really angry at over-'helpful' people who basically think I should be off work already! And not being too tired/ working when DH comes home at weekends...

  • Just thinking about breast feeding.... Should I buy a pump?
I really want to give it a serious go, from what I've read I'd be crazy not to?
