Great zing :)

So I officially have a bump-first wearing of my maternity swimsuit this morning to take DS for his swimming lesson after last week my tankini top kept riding up over my bump and exposing my tum! Now to find some energy for said swimming lesson Hmm more sleep would be good after a night of v vivid dreams and multiple loo trips which has left me feeling as though didn't sleep at all!

KitKatChick · 07/03/2014 09:32

So glad everyone's scans are going well. It makes me a lot less nervous and lot more excited ahead of mine this afternoon. I am working from home this morning but you can imagine how well I'm concentrating right now.

Anyone else going for a scan today?

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 07/03/2014 12:32

Reading back over those I missed: Ellen I don't know why we're using blue or pink either. I'm not having a blue, I'm having a boy. And he'll be dressed in every colour in the rainbow. Bit of a shame to see stereotyping is so ingrained.

elliejjtiny · 07/03/2014 13:19

frostina I would choose the pump you want but not buy it. Then if you find that you need a pump you can just go out and buy it, or send someone else. I'm doing that with things I'm not sure if I'll need or not.

kitkat good luck with your scan today

zing so pleased that your friend is looking after your dc's so you can have your scan

blue I'm with you on the dreams and loo trips. If this carries on I'll be getting more sleep with a newborn than I am now!

NancyinCali · 07/03/2014 14:35

It's 6.30am, been awake since DH woke DD up at 5.50am when he was heading out the door for his weekend ski trip. I'm currently trying to think of nice things for me and her to do this weekend. I thought I was okay about him going away until I had a massive weeping rage at him about it last night when he got home from a work dinner at 10pm. We hardly see him these days and the weekends are the only time I get a real break Hmm.
So, what fun things can we do to cheer me up this weekend?!

AuntieMaggie · 07/03/2014 15:09

Not really having a good day... started the day crying because I couldn't get a doctors appointment which has moved on to feeling fed up because I can't find any work clothes - I am doomed to being frumpy and messy during this pregnancy :(

BlueC2 · 07/03/2014 17:11

Ellie yes I have been thinking that about the sleep-i found my notebook with all DS's feeds recorded when he was first born and I know I slept pretty well inbetween feeds!

Maggie I have loads of work mat clothes from last time-which I don't need this time-and hardly any casual mat clothes-which is what I do need this time! V frustrating as I don't want to be buying lots more mat clothes so just feel I'm wearing the same thing all the time and now even some of those outfits aren't working now bump getting bigger and weather a bit warmer...sigh...

ZingSweetMango · 07/03/2014 17:12

hurray for bumps showing and good news on scans.

Maggie

(big bear hug)

I cry pretty much every day now - glowing my arse.

today our car near broke down - engine coughing, revving on its own and black smoke billowing out of exhaust, I just made it home.Shock

don't dare to drive it and just managed with one friend to take boys to choir practice soon and with another to bring them home.

sorry you can't find clothes and feeling down.
I'm just staying down now, no expectation.Grin

ZingSweetMango · 07/03/2014 17:14

btw scan booked, was only £79 (Shock ) and I'm v excited about it.
just to keep me going!Wink

MrsB2013 · 07/03/2014 17:23

Has anyone used the wall stickers before? Do they come off easily or do they leave a sticky mess behind?

Zing that doesn't sound good about the car :( Great news on the scan tho! Is that for a 3d/4d one?

ismarah · 07/03/2014 18:08

I'm feeling really quite NOT weepy. I'm not hormonal or emotional or grumpy or anything, really, just normal. If anything I'm slightly up, but that could also be spring which normally has that effect on me. I do worry that I'll end up with PND as I've had depressive episodes in the past but as soon as I saw the little screen say 'pregnant' all my uni anxieties and stresses just disappeared so maybe I'll be fine.

On the other hand, despite bump and movements and weeing every 20mins on the dot, I forget I'm pregnant and not just fat. I check my profile in all handy reflective surfaces, such as office buildings, shops and so on, to see how fat I look. I don't have anything like an eating disorder or body dysmorphia but after being ill a few years ago and then fixed, I slowly but surely lost about 50lbs. Bump now looks just like my upper abdomen did at the time I was sick, although the lower bit is new to me. So I look down and I see what is actually bump, but my memory tells me it's just fat.

Curry for dinner. Cat, meet pigeons.

Howly · 07/03/2014 19:10

Had my 20 week scan this morning, well half a scan as baby was in such an awkward position and wouldn't budge that the sonographer couldn't get all the measurements! So I've got to go back on Thursday!!

So far it's a little girl, but that's not 100% due to the dodgy position!

MrsA2 · 07/03/2014 19:21

Mummy and Maggie I'm with you on not finding any clothes for work. Normally I live in dresses for work but tops and skirts/trousers seem to be so much more flattering now. Off on holiday next week and have about three outfits, really want to avoid buying more clothes though while we are having our mortgage application reviewed at the moment - every penny counts!

Glad that week is over, work is stupidly busy and had some stress over the house we're buying this week too so feel totally wiped out.

On the plus my little gymnastic is moving around more and more - now we can see the kicks bouncing my belly. Love that.

museumworker · 07/03/2014 19:57

Frostina, re: breast pump they can be useful to have butnot essential for bf to begin with. Might be worth checking if your hospital hire out pumps, or borrow one from q friend as a back up.

If you do decide to buy I'd throughly recommend the medela swing, it is pricey but really good. Friend ended up buying after used cheaper one, and friends who I know have had to express have struggled with other pumps. They have good resale value too.

AuntieMaggie · 07/03/2014 19:59

Thank you ladies - I feel silly now getting upset over clothes. I think I'm stuck with next stuff as everywhere else doesn't seem to fit my expanding bust and hips whereas the dress I bought there last week was a size smaller!

A friend just recommended www.purpless.co.uk but I don't think they'll be big enough for me!

zing hope your cars ok - we've just had a new exhaust :(

Plateofcrumbs · 07/03/2014 20:01

Ooh visible movement that is exciting mrsa2 !

Sorry they didn't get all the measurements done Howly - did they get enough to leave you feeling more reassured? By the time they got to counting toes with mine I thought we were pretty much out of the woods - a missing digit wouldn't have been the end of the world!

liquidstate · 07/03/2014 20:03

Well I went to the nearly new sale at Woodcote, Berkshire this morning, got a door bouncer, bumboo chair, baby sling and some clothes, blankets and toys (many with price tags on) so not too bad for the journey. Arrived 15 mins after it started and people were already leaving with prams and other large items.

I have an NHS scan at 36 weeks but fancy doing another before then, need to persuade the DH.

My bathroom is still not done. We have no bath or basins in there. Fortunately we have a separate toilet but honestly thought it would be nearly done after 5 days. Fed up of the dust and chaos Sad.

Am so tired at the moment and still being sick so no change here.

BlueC2 · 07/03/2014 20:10

frostina I also second the recommendation for the Medela swing electric pump. I bought a tommy tippee hand pump which I used a bit but it just never seemed to get much out...after getting mastitis three times I finally forked out for the medela and discovered that I needed to ramp up the power to nearly full which explained why the hand pump never did anything - DS has such a strong suck that the hand pump had no way of replicating it!

liquid sorry to hear about the bathroom...all building work always seems to take longer than planned!

ZingSweetMango · 07/03/2014 20:33

MrsB

4D scan.

NancyinCali · 07/03/2014 22:14

I'm just about over my earlier misery after a nice time at the park and then running into my neighbour at the shop so we had lunch with her and her kids. Nap time now and I'm catching up with Grey's Anatomy.

MrsA2 love visible movement :) Only spotted it once so far but loved it.

liquid I need to find some sales here. There were actually a couple last weekend but I couldn't make them. Sorry about the bathroom chaos!

Exciting about your scan zing Grin

Maggie hope your day has improved.

jaykay987 · 08/03/2014 07:13

really mrsa? I've found the opposite. I've got one pair of work maternity trousers that I bought. But I hardly wear them.I live in dresses and a jacket. I've got a skinny belt, but desperately need to buy another before people realise I wear the same one constantly!

That sounds good liquid. We've got an nct one near me next weekend, but given what people say I'm a bit hesitant about what it'll be like. I just had a dream where I had to organise it on the day and it was chaos!- so it's clearly on my mind!

liquidstate · 08/03/2014 08:50

AuntieMaggie Thanks for the clothes link.

Just a thought, anyone else fed up with the maternity clothing clutching belly with silly grin poses. Why can't they show the models slumped on a sofa with a sick bucket and clingy whining toddler? Grin

My dad has gone back to Norfolk after painitng duties this week and DH at work. Am chomping on a Toffee Crisp (or two) for breakfast and watching tv for the first time in days. Bliss.

AuntieMaggie · 08/03/2014 10:50

Ha ha liquid in Primark they'd put their maternity clothes on normal skinny mannequins!

My upper stomach sticks out more than my lower stomach and dp was surprised how hard that part of my stomach is wven though its not baby/uterus. Mind you I have a stomach issue which means my stomach gets distended and sore so that can't be helping as I'm off meds for the pregnancy...

ZingSweetMango · 08/03/2014 13:08

liquid

Grin yes! and puffy eyes from crying and messed up, greasy hair.
and a face that says "don't bloody talk to me or I'll throw things at you"

car has a broken pipe and the replacement part won't arrive till Thursday.
I don't know if we can get a courtesy car or hire one.
fed up

talulahbelle · 08/03/2014 18:22

Dull day today, long day sorting out our remortgage. I think we are going to fix for 5 years, mainly as if I decide I want a career break we can manage on DHs wage, but only if our costs don't go up too much.
Today's baby purchase, a 2nd hand mamas and papas travel cot, excellent condition. Will be useful for when we visit the inlaws. I've also started to investigate car seats. We still need nursery furniture, but at the moment the room is still full of junk. So much to do - I think I need to sit on the sofa and eat chocolate to help me cope.
