plate, glad the scan went well. You must be exhausted after such a long and emotional wait.

pixie, sorry that your friends have had such sad news. Please try not to let it affect you - though I know it's much easier said than done.

Will write more when I'm not actually falling asleep whilst on the computer..

Plateofcrumbs · 05/03/2014 00:19

Pixie thinking of you for tomorrow - it feels a lot better to be on the other side, and you will be soon. Sorry for your two friends who have had to deal with such awful outcomes. I'm sure you will be fine though. I tried to use my yoga breathing (the golden thread thing) when I was getting really anxious which helped.

Keep us posted!

icklekid · 05/03/2014 05:07

pixie will be thinking of you let us know how it goes

ellen if they were bright/bold versions rather than pastel would that help?

talulah I'm the same in that because I'm so sick in eve I have no social life. Been out for dinner once so far this pregnancy and was a waste of money. Having to see people sat/sun lunch timea is so limiting!

plate glad there was good news after that wait! We had 2h wait 1st scan so brought a book to second!

liquid hope new dose makes a big difference and you get some energy back!

Wide awake since 4 am :-( working from home today as in so much pain at work still and must be in thu/fri. Then to make me feel better my sister emails from the great barrier reef in aus just to make me feel jealous! Although I can't think of anything I would like to do less than backpacking right now!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/03/2014 07:33

plate - glad you got good news after that wait!

pixie - good luck for today!

mummy to be - we're borrowing a co sleeper cot from a friend, I think it's the BabyBay.

icklekid - you have my sympathies! Another 4am waker here.also working from home today. So tired.

BlueC2 · 05/03/2014 07:44

pixie thinking of you today-so sorry to hear your friends' sad news.

plate so glad all was well!

I've had such an odd night-very very vivid dreams and not nice ones either and in such a heavy weird sleep for one of them I squashed my ear somehow and now it hurts-v strange!

But the sun is shining :) no idea what I'm doing with DS this morning but the sunshine definitely helps!

liquidstate · 05/03/2014 07:53

Pixie thinking of you lots and hoping for good news. I also heard bad news before my scan and was so relieved when it was over.

Have been unable to work all week, new bathroom stresses and just so tired. So will have to be another sick week. Have so much work to do I feel overwhelmed. Missed an important deadline and that report is not going to happen anytime soon.

Thanks to whoever recommended the Mammas and papas Patternology range. Gender neutral and funky, plus the colours work well with the skip hop treetop stuff I have bought so far!

Howly · 05/03/2014 08:07

I woke up at 4.15 having had the most vivid horrible dream, its the second night in a row I've had disturbing dreams. Fortunately I am waking early in the morning but managing to get back to sleep. I am so exhausted though.

I'm off work today too, I almost fainted in assembly yesterday but ploughed on and taught for the rest of the day but with a headache and feeling like I was going to keel over. They sent me home before parents evening and I phoned the hospital midwife but she just said go to the doctors and they can refer me from there if there is anything of concern! Not particularly reassuring.

Not sure what to do, go to the doctors just to be told its just part of being pregnant or just go back to bed and rest hoping the headache, dizziness and period like pains in my lower bump go away Confused

BlueC2 · 05/03/2014 08:31

So I've just been sick again!!! Absolutely textbook the same as first trimester so hoping it's not about to start back up again-please no! I've only been free from it for about 6 weeks :( This pregnancy sooo different to last time-wonder if it is a cheeky little madam causing chaos with my body?!

icklekid · 05/03/2014 09:29

Oh no blue can totally relate to the sickness pain, I feel awful this morning and not felt bad in the mornings for a long time :( Is it still sunny where you are? Is horrible here!

howly hope the doctors take you seriously - i've been very close to fainting twice when not drinking enough so far but really horrible experiences

KitKatChick · 05/03/2014 09:53

Good luck pixie. I am still excited more than anything about my scan on Friday but it's probably just a question of time till the nerves kick in.

The Mammas and papas Patternology range is quite pretty. I think my biggest problem is that I absolutely love the joules nursery range (www.joules.com/Home-and-Garden/Nursery/Toys-Cuddlers) but that's very gender specific - really wish they did one in yellow.

In other news I've done my first pilates class after a very long time and it was great. The instructor was brilliant even though I have to tell her my name next week to stop being referred to as "the pregnant lady" for and hour and half :)

elliejjtiny · 05/03/2014 10:22

mrsb I got my changing wallet from the baby show but it's the same as this one. I've got a big handbag from tk maxx to put it and bottles etc in.

pixie good luck with the scan today.

zing 4d scan sounds like a good idea. I had one for DS4 and it was really lovely.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow. Someone from the antenatal clinic rang yesterday, apologising for forgetting me.

icklekid · 05/03/2014 10:32

oh no kitkat why would you show me that! I love them but also same gender problem!

Glad you got your scan date ellie and nice and quick as well so no time to worry! :)

Howly · 05/03/2014 11:12

Just been to the doctors, bp fine, urine fine, had blood test straight away to test for anemia as apparently I looked very pale (I think that is due to a lack of sun) and told not to go to work until I had the results.

I've not been taking my prenatal vitamins, think I better go back to taking them!! I stopped as I thought they were making my MS worse!

I've not bought a single thing yet, so all the advice on products is excellent! Waiting til after our 20 week scan on friday to start shopping - really excited but the nerves are kicking in and the 'what-ifs' had a dream my baby had no legs, but thankfully been feeling lots of movements and kicks!!

Howly · 05/03/2014 11:27

This is my favorite bag i've seen

www.happybags.co.uk/changing-bags-our-full-range/the-old-bag-company-emma-sky-blue.html

Its big inside, has a pocket for a matching changing mat and you can get an additional matching bottle holder!

It had approval form DH (well the blue polka dot one - its comes in pink and purple too) as he requested that the changing bag not be girly as he would want to wear it and use it too!

DaisyBank82 · 05/03/2014 11:54

Haven't posted for a while but have been popping in - the recommendations are very helpful but are scaring me a bit as we haven't even thought about prams! SO much choice! I did buy the skip hop activity gym though :)

Our scan is a week today. I do feel quite nervous but I am feeling some small movements (like gentle fist bumps!) which is cute and reassuring. Sorry to hear some folks are still sick. I am still gagging when brushing my teeth in the mornings and sometimes it makes me sick but apart from that I feel so much better.

Anyway, I bring news of 50% off some of the maternity lines at ASOS. Warning - I just managed to spend 50 ooops but I did get 3 nice looking dresses and some maternity tights! www.asos.com/Maternity-Promotion/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?affId=12639&cid=14326&WT.tsrc=Email&WT.dcsvid=3299459

oo00PIXIE00oo · 05/03/2014 15:58

Hi ladies a huge sigh of relief :) the scan went really well but took a whopping 45 mins as the little bugger kept moving every time the sonographer tried to take the measurements. Not sure if we have a footballer or a boxer in the making given the movements but we definitely have a BOY :)

Have a low lying placenta so will have another scan at 32 weeks but all other measurements were perfect - thanks for your hand holding xx

Having three DD between us from previous relationships DH is over the moon - we went straight to the shops and brought our first 'blue' outfit lol

Good luck to everyone else having scans soon xx

liquidstate · 05/03/2014 16:12

Wow Pixie fantastic news! Glad everything is ok for you.

Envy anyone who has had a break from sickness.

Howly · 05/03/2014 16:32

Great news pixie bet the feeling of relief and excitement for your little baby boy is amazing! I hope to be in your shoes on Friday!!

liquidstate my sickness has stopped but has been replaced by feeling faint and headaches, although it is the lesser of evils I still feel crap!

Plateofcrumbs · 05/03/2014 17:28

Great news Pixie !

I'm finding it funny how different I am about pregnancy compared to either how I expected to feel and how I am in my 'normal' life.

I was talking to a colleague who is a complete control freak who was saying how unexpectedly calm and relaxed she was about her pregnancy. Whereas I'm normally quite chilled out, rational and a bit of a risk taker - and I've become an anxious, irrational, hyper-cautious mess about all things pregnancy. I've also always been adamant that I'd find out the gender in advance and here I am saving it as a surprise.

Anyone else not their usual self?

Ipsumlorem · 05/03/2014 17:49

Great to hear scan went well pixie. Feeling sorry for everyone still suffering sickness and feeling fainty etc. I'm still sick - had a miraculous recovery for 2 days last weekend and was able to go out for dinner for the first time all pregnancy - really enjoyed it too but sadly back to vomiting this week Sad I miss having a proper social life as well talulah!

plate I am usually an anxiety stricken, workaholic mess but for some reason I think once I got over the initial rise in anxiety I have been coping better than I would've thought possible - strange isn't it! I'm still a control freak at work but have gradually had to relinquish some control over the duties I can't perform at the moment and I reckon it has done me good to be honest! Wink

Went for a private gender scan a few days ago and am happy to report everything still looking good and we are having..................... a girl! Grin

AuntieMaggie · 05/03/2014 18:38

Someone mentioned dry skin - yes especially on my arms and hands and boobs!

plate I usually like to plan, and have structure and control but that's gone out the window!

oo00PIXIE00oo · 05/03/2014 20:19

Hi maggie it was me - spoke to the MW today who suggested aqueous cream (use it like a soap in the bath) gonna try tonight and have DH on standby if I need help getting out lol I know it's quite greasy :)

Plateofcrumbs · 05/03/2014 20:28

Dry skin: bizarrely I have developed a patch of eczema on the back of my hand where I had to wear a support brace when I broke my thumb two years ago. Sudocrem seems to be helping.

AuntieMaggie · 05/03/2014 20:55

Thanks pixie (pleased scan was ok btw) DP uses that for his ezcema and I have been known to use it on my face - dissolves make up in no time and with hot water and a flannel leaves your skin lovely. Its not as greasy as you'd expect. Someone famous uses it on their under eye area.

MrsB2013 · 05/03/2014 21:08

Glad everything was fine with the scans plate, pixie and Ipsum

Zing will you be telling us the gender after this scan??

I have my appointment with the obstetrician in the morning about having ELCS, hopefully will have an answer on if they will do it or not.

If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (it's private so wont show up on your profile) pm me your email address!!!
