We've got visable kicks this weekend :) 22wks & think we've got a footballer/acrobat in the making lol

KitKatChick · 03/03/2014 16:43

Scan on Friday - can't wait. Not finding out though unless I crack under the pressure of the poor choice of anything gender neutral. Seriously has anyone found anything nursery that goes beyond cream and grey?

Really interested in the ongoing pram discussion. I've only had a look online but intend to drag DH into a few shops after the scan. I do like the look of Silver Cross Linear Freeway but no idea how well it would work in practice - has anyone tried it yet?

BlueC2 · 03/03/2014 17:53

kitkat you could go for a Jungle theme, circus theme or brightly coloured alphabet type theme? We went for Beatrix Potter with a mix of Characters to keep it gender neutral for DS (and then bought some blue bunting and a cushion once he was born). This time I am going for 'Guess how much I love you' as it is also pretty neutral and will also look nice with the beatrix potter bits once we move them into a room together :) In terms of gender neutral colours a mix of bold primary coloured accessories would work or maybe pale green (not mint though-my step mum knitted us loads in lemon and mint which we never used!)

jaykay987 · 03/03/2014 19:03

yes mrsb - that one's my favourite. Though since I last posted I've also fallen for a grey tweed changingvbag on amazon!

kitkat - I think there's quite a lot of nice brights out there. Look at m&p patternology for inspiration - even big it's more than you want to spend - to get some ideas.
Unfortunately my dh has an aversion to colour and pattern....so I wasn't allowed! Envy

icklekid · 03/03/2014 19:14

So glad it's not just me looking at these things nice and early. Think we have decided on the sola city from m&p going to wait to see if they have any offers over next few months (it wasn't included in their recent 10% off) just in case!

jay can totally relate to finding a changing bag I like, dh likes and isn't £100!

plate good luck today hope it goes well

coco I can't stay awake until 9 so very impressed hope you enjoyed it!

20 week scan today and its blue. We are over the moon!

MrsB2013 · 03/03/2014 22:31

Congrats MissSlack another boy for the list!!

Watching OBEM on +1, makes me think why am I doing this!!!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 03/03/2014 22:43

patchwork - thanks for the tip, I'll have a look.

Good luck for all the scans this week!

fifi669 · 03/03/2014 23:30

Marking my place on the Fred. Getting movement everyday. Had a sneaky burger king earlier and baby went nuts. Not sure if he was impressed or not!

liquidstate · 04/03/2014 07:52

KitKat, I am having more problems finding gender neutral clothes that aren't cream and covered in teddies to be honest. I have gone for skip hop treetop wall stickers and am just buying plain bits in the colours. I don't like too much patterning and matchy matchy designs(just my own style). I had lovely sage green walls in the nursery but DH didn't like (he hates green) so we are going for buttermilk which is a bit dull, but at least flexible. and I am painting the mahoosive spare room green in revenge Grin

I wanted fairly bright colours for the accessories and toys as the midwife said babies can't see cream and pale patterns after birth anyhow.

MrsA2 · 04/03/2014 07:55

Morning all, I've been a bit slack posting with hectic days at work and a busy weekend.

Blue, I've got the dress and it fits well so many thanks.

Plate I completely understand your anxiety after a tough first scan but hopefully this will be a lovely reassuring and relaxing one for you and you'll just be able to enjoy seeing your baby on the screen once all the checks are complete.

We're making some pram/pushchair progress - thanks a lot to recommendations on here. We like the M+P zoom and at £299 for most of it I'm struggling to see what the catch is... The onLy pain point I can see is that it doesn't fold down when the pushchair is parent facing, but it's easy enough to remove. Also keen on the Silver Cross Wayfarer and the Oyster.

We do a lot of off-road walking so after something robust and I'm not entirely sure if any of these three are cut out for it, but it's a promising start.

My parents still have my old cot, it's had around six babies in though so apparently has a lot of teeth marks! Going to see how it looks as if we can use that (with a new mattress of course) then that could be a good saving and quite nice keeping it going in the family too.

mummytobejuly2014 · 04/03/2014 12:58

the sun is shining and just treated myself to a whippy cone for the heartburn hehe. feeling good today.is everyone getting moses baskets? anyone looking co sleeper cribs?

BlueC2 · 04/03/2014 14:49

mrsA2 glad the dress fits well :) We have the M+P Zoom and have found it great-not necessarily the best suspension/design for off road walking but a lot aren't designed for that unless you go for a Mountain Buggy but I'm guessing they're rather more pricey. I'm looking forward to using our Zoom again-oh and the not folding when seat parent facing really isn't a problem as it's so easy to quickly swap over.

I was having a quietly productive afternoon until DS woke up early from his nap and then had a super strop as I wouldn't let him play with the remote control! :( But we're going to make pancakes for tea which is definitely :)

Plateofcrumbs · 04/03/2014 15:46

Well I'll cut past the 4.5 hour wait and the anxious emotional breakdown in the waiting room - the scan went fine and everything looks as it should. Surprise gender for us although DH thought he heard sonographer slip up and say 'he' at the end, but I think he was imagining things!

jaykay987 · 04/03/2014 17:09

4.5hour wait? That's outrageous!
Good news on the results though!

NancyinCali · 04/03/2014 17:24

Oh I'm glad all was okay plate. That wait is horrific though! I've heard that sonographers often have a particular gender they use. Ours used he all the time even though we all knew it was a girl and last time he used he too even though the sonographer knew it was a girl (we didn't).

mummytobe we're looking at getting an arms reach co-sleeper. Much nearer the time I'll be looking on local selling websites to try to get one as we don't have room to store it really. Will get a new mattress for it of course.

Plateofcrumbs · 04/03/2014 18:33

To be fair it was 4.5 hours as (unknown to me) we were having our cardiac scan separately because of the earlier high risk flags. Then the poor couple in front of us got bad news and were in for about 2 hours with various consultants whizzing in and out Sad .

Poor DH - I gave him a bit of a scare: he was running late and when he arrived in the waiting room I was sobbing quietly into my hands - took me a while to explain it was just pre-scan nerves!

MrsA2 · 04/03/2014 18:47

Blue that's great to hear about the zoom - thanks.

Plate glad all went well and hopefully it's finally put your mind at rest after your 12w scan. My brother in law was certain they were having a boy despite wanting a surprise as the sonographer said he throughout but they've got a lovely little girl. I think some just say 'he' as default. It's rather confusing though!

oo00PIXIE00oo · 04/03/2014 19:23

Glad everything went well Plate :)

I need some serious hand holding - have 20w scan tomorrow and have recently heard two bouts of bad news - friend lost her DS last week at 39w (he was due this Thursday) and another had a bad 20w scan ending in a termination so I have spent most of the day at work crying with nerves :(

At 44 with 3 mc's in the last 19 months this is my last chance - not sure if there is going to be much sleeping tonight!

Whilst on is anyone suffering from REALLY dry skin?

ZingSweetMango · 04/03/2014 19:39

Thanks for starting new thread lemon

I decided to get a private 4D scan - it costs £109 instead of £250 if booked by next Friday.
21 weeks today and the appointment will be when I'm 28 weeks pg.

I don't feel connected very much with this baby due to more distractions than I can cope with plus I struggle with this pregnancy a lot. I actually worry if I'm going to be able to love him/her.
so I just need something extra, something special - andI do hate to use the phrase but I just want to bond with baby, feel closer to him/her...

ZingSweetMango · 04/03/2014 19:41

must read back, but pixie so sorry to hear all the bad news around youSad
for dry skin I recommend E45 - get GP to prescribe it so you don't have to pay.

liquidstate · 04/03/2014 20:13

Fab news Plate. Bad times with the wait though.

I just had a call from the hospital to say there is a problem with my thyroid so they are upping my dose. Could be why I am feeling so tired! God I hope the higher dose of medication helps.

Bathroom being fitted this week and I have been sick twice in a bucket whilst the plumber was with me sorting things out. I have also been sick in the kitchen sink Blush. The worst thing is I know I won't be able to enjoy the new shower bath when it is done because I can't get my leg over the side of the bath. Currently investigating hiring a little step/stool from the mobility shop Sad.

ellentullo · 04/03/2014 20:20

blue I am experiencing the bladder trampoline too. I think it's going to be the final nail in my running (now jogging) coffin - just so uncomfortable.

Re: gender stuff (although I think already know the answer to this!) - in 2014 why does it need to be pink vs blue vs neutral? Should there not be some kind of colour revolution by now where we are willing to disregard the rules? Or do you think that would detract from the whole boy/girl celebration and excitement thing?

As much as I would like to be able to dress our future baby boy in pink, dh will never allow. The colour revolution will continue in my head. Might try it once if I'm feeling provocative though

talulahbelle · 04/03/2014 21:39

I am going to have a very self indulgent whinge... I have hip pain at night so can't sleep. Which is making me feel knackered and crap all day. I have constant burping/fullness but not heartburn provided I avoid anything rich (ie what I want to eat) and my social life is rubbish. Ok I'm pregnant but I want to do stuff (meals out, cinema, coffee with friends) whilst I still can. Sadly a lack of money and friends up for socialising with me means I'm stuck in on MN though.

Whinge over, good luck with all the 20 week scans. Mind is next Thursday and I'm feeling stressed about it already.
