Another one breathless here. Bloods were fine a couple of weeks ago though.
I have another blocked duct in my nipple. It is excruciating. I never got any milk with dd so didn't have these problems. This is the third time this pregnancy. It is horrible. Not much I can do. The other 2 eventually burst whilst I was in bed. Confused
My boobs were massive before pregnancy and are so big now I barely fit in the biggest maternity bra available. I think this might be the problem.
Dh has been working hard all weekend to get dd's new bedroom sorted. Once it is all in place, I will move her stuff out of the baby room and start getting organised.
I'm a bit panicky as if things go like last time - my waters will go in less than 4 weeks. I feel better this time round though so hopefully this one won't be premature. I just keep repeating, "it will all be fine !"

ZingHasAHotCrossBunInTheOven · 20/04/2014 22:23

blocked duct - you can try putting a leaf of savoy cabbage on your breast then bra on.
same as for mastitis
crunch the leaf first slightly in your hand.

a hot compress also a good idea for pain relief and to unblock it.

I hope either will work - but watch out for redness, if it spreads you might need antibiotics

ZingHasAHotCrossBunInTheOven · 20/04/2014 22:26

mummy

I actually started a thread today to moan after being told "I hope it's another girl so she can help you with the washing up! "Confused
honestly, wtf?

next time should we say "actually I hope it's a dodo bird! that would make me rich and famous so fx"

mummytobejuly2014 · 20/04/2014 22:42

zing think we should all start the witty responses! how rude about the washing up, that would have made me cross. we're having a boy, we both liked the idea of a little girl first but we're not disappointed as long as it arrives safely & is healthy then we're happy. people seem to speak before they think when talking to pregnant ladies :s

ZingHasAHotCrossBunInTheOven · 20/04/2014 22:48

mummy

In anticipation of being bothered daily towards the end of pg I have already bought a t-shirt saying "I'll come out when I'm ready!"

that should teach them!

Evil laugh I made DH watch 'What to Expect...' with me tonight and HE LIKED IT!

I'm not that big actually, at 29 weeks and very relieved at that to be honest. I remember one of the earliest threads where I was really worried about piling on weight in an uncontrollable fashion. It was because in the first trimester nothing could compress or squish anywhere on my stomach because I was so bloated, with my jeans gaping open under a long T shirt in week 7! And then having the placenta at the front, I looked pregnant fairly early on. Now though it all seems to have caught up somehow and although I look deffo preggo, I've not had any 'helpful' comments about my (eventual) size.

TMI alert, look away now...I am however googling everything to do with piles. Thanks, pregnancy.

Welcome new ladies and bumps!

icklekid · 21/04/2014 05:33

mummy I had lots of helpful comments like that this morning- mental note not to wear that dress again unless I want to look huge!

zing the washing up comment sounds just like what my dh would say- did make me laugh at the cheek of it. Mine has no idea what life with a baby will be like poor thing!

Been wide awake since 4 lots of movement but not so much kicking as spasms? Hiccuping?

ZingHasAHotCrossBunInTheOven · 21/04/2014 05:58

could be hiccups - are they in a predictable "rythym"?

DS1 used to hiccup. it was funny.

up since 3.40 and have a sodding cold.Angry

I wouldn't mind a silly comment like that from DH or a friend, but from a total stranger I find it insulting.

Plateofcrumbs · 21/04/2014 07:54

Mmm four days waking up without needing to get up for work is bliss !

DH bought me a dreamgenie pregnancy pillow. Definitely works to hold you in the 'right' position (sleeping on your left hand side) although if anything too well as I'm waking up stiff from not moving all night.

However one of the supposed benefits of sleeping on your left hand side according to the packaging is better blood flow to the baby, and as I'm really paranoid about that because of having a dodgy umbilical cord, I'm using it religiously and just putting up with the dead arm and sore shoulders. Easter Hmm

AuntieMaggie · 21/04/2014 11:20

mummy try to get a gp appointment asap - play the pregnancy card if you have to. I've got a support from the physio but still have to hold myself in when I get up. In the meantime don't do anything that requires bending over (cleaning the bath), twisting (pushing a shopping trolley) standing on one leg (putting your knickers on) or having your legs open (getting in and out of the car)...Lol easier said than done! I also find sitting makes me stiff so I try to recline rather than sit straight where I can.

I've developed an odd annoyance in that my pubic hair is irritating me Blush its a bit longer than it usually is so I tried to trim it but did a crap job and have given myself a rash... might have to ask DP to help!

I also need to decide what to do with my piercings... is it ok to leave cartilidge ear piercings in for labour? As for my clitoral hood piercing I have no idea... some of the advice I've seen advises removing it because of the risk of tearing but tbh if there's a chance I'm going to tear up there tell me now and I'll book the c-section!!!

Plateofcrumbs · 21/04/2014 11:49

clitoral hood piercing

ismarah · 21/04/2014 12:58

Auntie I was actually considering some sort of piercing after bean to reclaim my body as my own. So I for one am intrigued.

I would imagine ear cartilage would be fine but suspect the clitoral hood piercing might be better out. Every time I've had surgery, they've wanted me to take off my rings and I've refused, resulting in them insisting on taping them to high heaven with surgical tape. It's an infection control thing.

If tearing was that bad, we'd all be having ELCSs!

Patchwork88 · 21/04/2014 14:57

Confused eeek to the piercings! I'm freaked out enough by my historic belly button piercing that looks super weird now it's gone flat and sideways!
Absolutely loving how the Easter weekend and the forthcoming bank holidays in May mean only 22 working days left yay!! on the other hand...so much work to do and handover in so little time.

AuntieMaggie · 21/04/2014 17:48

Aww sorry plate but it hurt loads less than my ear piercings and healed a lot faster too...

When I've had surgery before I've just put a plastic bar in it but suspect I may need to take it out this time... another job for DP... good job he loves me eh?

BlueC2 · 21/04/2014 21:18

Ugh! Seem to have acquired a chesty cough/cold from somewhere! Have dosed up with paracetamol and vicks and hoping an earlyish night will help kick it! Have also had a mug of honey and lemon drink but fear the heartburn impact :( Pretty sure there's nothing more I can take or do which is a pain! zing hope you feel better soon too!

ZingHasAHotCrossBunInTheOven · 22/04/2014 00:28

blue

I hope you get better too.
I feel crap. was sick this morning.
I'm exhausted but can't sleep, my belly feels uncomfortable and nausea is worse coz of blocked nose.

in another words: wah wah wah

I did manage to sort through all of the children's clothes including summer school uniforms and PE kits (minus shorts and a few mending jobs) so I'm quite pleased.
I actually labelled every single thing for all 5 boys (not underwear or socks but all other stuff), I felt it would help us better organized during & after move and when baby's coming and others look after kids.

I'm seeing MW on Thursday - I wonder if I have to derigester from her as well as GP practice after we changed address.
the hospital remains the same, thankfully.

slowly but surely we are packing up this house.
it will be weird to go, of all places I have lived here for the longest.
we moved in when pg with 1st baby and moving out when pg with last one, that makes it sweet. with a nice symmetry.

oops it's Tuesday already - roll on week 28 for me!

BlueC2 · 22/04/2014 01:09

Well done with the packing and labelling zing it's no mean feat packing up a house to move!

After my early night I've now been awake for 2 hours-so more than the 1.5 hours sleep I've managed so far! Just SO tired but SO wide awake - grrr

icklekid · 22/04/2014 02:36

Morning zing and blue although I hope you're both asleep again! My 3rd time awake tonight, heartburn is horrific and work in far too few hours! Busy busy day Easter Envy

Hope you both feel better soon...

I'm definitely on countdown until our last week away before baby - 23 days of work to go...then only 15 more before maternity!! After the lovely easter break I can not wait. Resting makes me feel almost normal.

Going to try and get a phone appointment with gp today see if can try different sickness medication (29 weeks!) As being sick more than 5 times every night= me in tears every night and just wanting this to be over!!!

MrsA2 · 22/04/2014 07:33

Ickle your sickness sounds awful, I really hope you get some medication that treats or at least improves it. Sorry to hear that Zing and Blue are feeling rubbish too.

Had a lovely long weekend with Fri and Sat away so I mostly sat on the beach out the wind in the sun and ate too much. Very relaxing. Yesterday was house stuff for us as we hopefully move on Friday.

Not looking forward to work today but at least it's a four day weekend.

BlueC2 · 22/04/2014 07:44

Oh ickle that sounds v rough-really hope there's something they can give you! I'm also gonna try and get a telephone app today as need more gaviscon-heartburn also kicking in fully here now too!

Also trying hard not to focus on another 12 weeks of insomnia :( just exhausting!

Happy packing mrsA2 exciting stuff!

ZingHasAHotCrossBunInTheOven · 22/04/2014 07:44

oh Ickle poor you, sounds horrendous.

I hope you are given a better medicine soon.
or a strong sleeping pill to knock you out - can't be sick if asleep!Wink (just joking)

I was up until about 3am at the end. no idea how I'll cope todayConfused

And for all of you who are first timers here's another "gem" of toddler behaviour you can look forward to: on Saturday DH had a shower with DD and incredibly she managed to get hold of his razor and shaved her lip. ffs!
it bled for about 15 mins. (DH feeling guilty, me going "she is too tall her for her own good")
it's healing nicely, but still. you can not be careful enough.

and a lovely bit: nowadays DS5 calls me his "sweet cookie biscuit"Smile
aawww!

AuntieMaggie · 22/04/2014 10:18

zing and blue hope you feel better soon
ickle hope you sort something out

Heartburn here too though the stuff my gp have me seems to work wonders even though she said most people don't get on with it - its a liquid you mix with a bit of water. I find the heartburn is worse if I haven't eaten for a while.

Pelvis was really painful in the night but seems ok today (fingers crossed) but baby is very active thus morning!

ZingHasAHotCrossBunInTheOven · 22/04/2014 10:23

Maggie

sorry to hear about your pelvis/heartburn troubles.

I was feeling so sick this morning I said to DH : "why on Earth do women choose to go through this more than once?"
He had no answer.Confused Grin

Casmama · 22/04/2014 10:35

For those suffering from heartburn I can really recommend omeprazole on prescription.
I went from going nowhere without a bottle of gaviscon to hand to not having needed any, no heartburn for a month now!

I had bad heartburn with my DS and know that it only gets worse as the pregnancy progresses so refused to be a martyr to it this time.

AuntieMaggie · 22/04/2014 12:46

casmama I'm already on omeprazole having downgraded from esomeprazole because of being pregnant and I still get heartburn... other things that help are coca cola, milk, peppermint tea... though not all at the same time.

zing thanks - I said to DP about baby making me think I want a big wee today when I don't being annoying and he said you'll only want one baby then... um no... already thinking about the next but ssssh don't tell him Grin
