Hi all, I have my BFP and due 30th October. It's my third baby and was 2 weeks late with the last two so bound to be November.

Anybody else for November yet? I know it's very very early :)

Hey everyone!
Speaking of midwife apts I had my first booking in apt today! Just did boring stuff: bloods, weight (eek!), BMI (eeeeeeeeek!) and a few basic details. Got my notes!
Got my second booking in apt on 31st March where midwife comes to my home and we'll discuss the finer details of it all!
I've been assured about the hospital (had bad experience with DD) and told ill be given all the options I need including going to another hospital if I like. And I'll get an appointment to discuss my last birth and what happened there. Chuffed!
X

RandomInternetStranger · 10/03/2014 20:12

My booking in is tomorrow and it's a 1 hour appt so hopefully we'll discuss all we need to there and then. Though granted there is a lot with one thing or another with me. Quite excited, kind of makes it more official!

Still riding the emotional roller coaster, seems to be a pattern of the evenings when I sit down alone for dinner watching whatever chic flick is on that the loneliness hits, I think if I change my routine, maybe eat in another room or whilst on the laptop or listening to music instead of TV, which inevitably always has some love story element to it, then that might help. Shall start that tomorrow.

MrsWombat · 10/03/2014 20:20

Barmy the appointments will vary from area to area.

When I was pregnant with DS I saw the midwife in my GP surgery one morning a week.

At the antenatal clinic where I work (children's centre) The midwife does one full day and does normal appointments in the morning, and bookings in the afternoon. She also has an overspill day when she has lots of bookings to catch up with. However if someone can't make the morning, or there are no spaces, or they ring up on the day with a query she'll squeeze them in or add them on the ends of the bookings. She will also visit people at home if needed. If you call them up and explain your a teacher they might come up with a suggestion for a different appointment time. The one where i work is very accommodating.

alita7 · 10/03/2014 20:36

That's not fair I want to see a midwife :p! I've got no faith in my doctor what so ever! We don't get to see them til 8 week earliest here.

Tigsy · 10/03/2014 20:39

MrsWombat I'd been drinking lots of fruit juices etc and I'm wondering if that's partly to blame for the weight I've put on in the last week as they're quite calorific so just trying to stick to water mainly or squash. Got a bottle of Ribena at work to ramp up the excitement :-)

Random sorry to hear you're feeling like that. Why not trying watching something funny instead? Not chick-flick funny but some comedy series....

DilysMoon · 10/03/2014 20:43

When is the right time to contact Dr/midwife? I should know this as its Dc3 but feel like it's a bit early as I'm only 4 weeks but can't remember what I did last time.

RandomInternetStranger · 10/03/2014 21:31

Re drinking I've been so bad! Last time it was ONLY water & fresh squeezed juices - no cordials, tea, alcohol, fizzy drinks, nothing. This time it's no alcohol, and I've switched to decaf tea, but I'm still drinking it and still putting sugar in, and fizzy drinks, and cordial. I am disappointed in myself to be honest and I've even contemplated whether I could have a beer or even a cigarette! I think because I've been feeling quite low, if I wasn't pg I would be drinking and smoking it away, and it's a real struggle to feel bad and not reach for the fags & booze. I've been eating well, lots of fruit, veg, fish, lean meats, but I've been seriously craving junk food! Can't get McDs and KFC out of my head! But midwife tomorrow will hopefully make it more real and give me more incentive. May allow myself a KFC though as I have been good with food for the last 2 weeks. Smile

barmybunting · 10/03/2014 22:11

Thanks MsWombat that's reassuring to hear. I'll see what the practice says on Thursday at my appointment. It's a strange set up here as it's actually an RAF medical practice with military doctors as we live on an RAF base (Dh is in the RAF) so they bark at you about service identity numbers rather than my old friendly practice where they knew you by name when you walked in the door! It's the first time I've used a set up like this so I'm a tad confused. I may end up changing to the gp in the next village if a lot of it will be linked to the Surgery I think. Odd set up!

Random sorry to hear you're feeling down today. Sending you a hug!

Funny how much varies by local nhs area in terms of appointments etc.

RandomInternetStranger · 10/03/2014 22:21

So whereabouts are we all? I'm in Surrey. The antenatal care I had with DD was outstanding so I'm hoping it's still the same. Smile

AussieGoingHomeSoon · 10/03/2014 22:59

Welcome & Congratulations docpeppa, caravela- 2 years TTC, you must be on cloud nine, MrsWombat, utopian - wow that's fast !!, littlereddiosaur

MabelMay, I'm not symptomy, except for wanting to eat all the time & then feeling full & ill after a few minutes !

Winter, hope your feeling better.

Greenstone, I think a lot of my mini symptoms are in my head or my pregnancy is my excuse to do them, like eat rubbish(cravings) have naps(pregnancy tiring) feeling queasy(cause I ate to much unhealthy food)

Dilys, yes DS is 11months and Dd is 3 next month.

HRMumness, I had both my babies at the Whittington in last 3years and will again this time, I had great experiences both times, midwives were great during pregnancy and birth. Aftercare was pretty basic but as I didn't really need much assistance, i was happy enough with it. Think I will try their birthing unit for a water birth this time as wanted it with DD but pain drove me to an epidural, no time for an epidural with DS so hoping this time I can cope without again and finally have my waterbirth !!

Weeonion - I thought DS came fast in 50mins from arrival at hospital but 7 minutes ! That must have been crazy !

Mammysam- yay forgetting notes, must make it seem really real now !

Random - enjoy your booking in tomorrow, will be a great way to life spirits !

I have a coffee a day, it's the one thing I can't give up, but not been eating to healthy, I googled a pregnancy meal plan & think I'm going to try to casually follow it so i don't over indulge to much, as had been on a very low calorie diet up until a couple of weeks ago for the past 4 months and manage to lose 2.5 stone so really hoping to not gain it all back during this pregnancy !

Is anyone thinking of if they will find out gender ? Or is it to early to think of ? We did with 1st, surprise for 2nd & no idea for this baby yet Smile

AussieGoingHomeSoon · 10/03/2014 23:00

PS Sorry for such epic post !!

Random, I'm North London

Annarose2014 · 10/03/2014 23:04

Re: drinks. I just bought some Tesco decaff and thankfully it's pretty decent. Am keeping my full-caffeine tea before work - I get up at 6, I need that caffeine! But at work will stick to water i think - i'm so thirsty!

Bought a litre of apple juice and its near gone already, with loads of ice cubes its fantastic. I'm bound to get sick of it but so far so good.

DH bought me non-alco wine, but it tastes disappointingly like fruit juice. I'm going to try other brands though as I do love dramatically waving a wine glass around whilst giving out to the TV!

LittleRedDinosaur · 10/03/2014 23:31

I'm now feeling bad about caffeine & am going to try to wean myself off the early morning coffee

Barmy- yes, I'm a Dr, just part time since I had DD. And coincidentally my husband's in the army so I think our surgeries sound similar with people calling each other sir in the waiting room!

Random- I'm in Wiltshire at the moment but we've lived all over the place. Sorry you're feeling low. The first few weeks are crap. Hope your midwife appointment makes you feel a bit better

Nessalina · 10/03/2014 23:32

Evening everyone! Smile

Lots going on today! I'm on my phone so not sure who's said what Confused

I've got my booking in next Tuesday. Can't believe we've got some who've had it and some that can't even book it for a month! Crazy Shock

We'll be finding out the gender if we can, I'd like to be able to plan ahead a bit. Plus I think it'll help with bonding - we lost a little girl, and so I'd love it to be a girl, but if it's a boy, that's great too, but it might take a bit more getting my head around it...

I'm in Leeds!

I'm still feeling not too symptomy, my boobs are a dream in comparison to last time! I was wondering if it's because maybe they've already done a bit of stretching previously so maybe it's easier this time...?

I am absolutely STARVING mind you! Today I ate: French toast with sugar; 2 large pitta with hummous, ham & cheese; a custard tart; a big cookie; a lamb stew with rice; two pieces of toast; a cuppa soup. And I'm still hungry!!

I'm cutting down but not cutting out caffeine. Allowing myself two teas or a tea & a coke each day, otherwise I'm on the elderflower cordial and the decaff coffee. It's well within safe limits, and I'm such a tea junkie I couldn't go cold turkey!

On of my best pals had twins today! Two little boys by CS. They're awesome! Grin

That's an interesting one about your surgery littlered.

I'm in Lincolnshire random. We were in the North of Scotland until about two months ago though, and will be moving again in December but have no idea where to. That'll be fun with a newborn!

Not planning to find out the gender here, but we probably would for a second DC.

This early morning insomnia lark is driving me mad!

Can anyone help re painkillers in pregnancy- google seems to tell me that any form is a complete no no, but I've also read conflicting info on that.

barmybunting · 11/03/2014 06:20

Sorry I forgot this bit as I'm on my phone.

Regarding drinks, I'm not normally one for fizzy stuff but discovered m&s do a lemon and ginger drink which tastes fairly dry rather than the usual sweetness of fruit juice so it may be worth a go if you see it.

AveryJessup · 11/03/2014 06:23

So glad I'm not the only one not feeling many symptoms! Just like you, Nessalina, I'm wondering if it's just less painful second time around because everything's already been stretched around before? (Sorry about your loss. Fingers crossed it's a girl for you this time too as you're hoping).

Honestly if it weren't for the two positive pregnancy tests in my bathroom cabinet (I like to keep mine as kind of good luck charms - weird but there you go!) and absence of period, I would barely notice anything. It's early days yet though, only ~5 weeks so hopefully symptoms will get stronger. Otherwise I'll be spending the next 3 weeks until the scan a nervous wreck!

utopian99 · 11/03/2014 06:26

barmy we were told last time that paracetamol is fine but stay clear of aspirin/ibuprofen.

We're in Surrey but moving to Walthamstow once work on our flat finishes - hopefully may-ish so no rush before the baby. Need to find out about hospitals as DS was born in st Marys in Manchester and I had an really good experience on the whole so hoping for similar.

random hope your feeling better this morning? I think everything is more emotional after dark, so daylight helps..

We're not going to find out what this one is I think. I got a stupid bee in my bonnet last time about wanting DS to be a boy and so we found out so that if he'd turned out not to be I had time to adapt to it. Now we have him I'd be very happy with either flavour though - a girl would be a nice balance (hoping for three in the end) but two boys would be great fun!

utopian99 · 11/03/2014 06:28

avery I know what you mean about good luck charms. I have an internet cheap stick, supermarket stick, and digital clearblue all lined up in our bathroom from yesterday. DH was highly amused. Grin

barmybunting · 11/03/2014 06:46

Thanks utopian.

Wilhelminanevillesdottir · 11/03/2014 07:11

If anyone is up can I have some advice please. I have some browny discharge. Do you think this means I have had a delayed miscarriage? Do I need to phone someone or do you just wait for the inevitable?

WinterLover · 11/03/2014 07:23

Wilhelm you could call someone but from my last time they dont worry about brown as its seen as old blood xx

Tigsy · 11/03/2014 07:24

Wilhelmina do you have any pain or bright red bleeding ? I wouldn't have thought just a bit of discharge on it's own would mean much. Might be worth getting checked out if you're worried.

Can't remember who was talking about insomnia but I have it too. The past few days been waking super-early and unable to get back to sleep. Annoying .

Random enjoy your booking appointment today! I emailed my referral form to the midwives over a week ago- they said they send out an appointment letter within 24hrw of getting the letter but not heard anything!

WinterLover · 11/03/2014 07:24

Urgh really struggling to move this morning. My whole body hurts, only at work for 4 hours today so really need to drag myself to get read. Need to leave in 3/4 hour but not washed my hair yet.
