Hi all, I have my BFP and due 30th October. It's my third baby and was 2 weeks late with the last two so bound to be November.

Anybody else for November yet? I know it's very very early :)

hi folks

Saw my GP last week to get the whole process moving. I spoke with hospital and midwife this morning about booking in etc. They "hope' i will get to see midwife by 12 weeks and should get "offered" 1st scan by 14 weeks (at seperate appt). I wasnt trying to be pushy but said that as i travel alot with work, am often away for days on end and can find it hard to reschedule work so it would be great if they could let me know appt as early as possible. They will try but we usually get only 1 week notice. I know from last time that this doesnt work for me. Was also told that I am on Red care pathway due to age and so will be no homebirth for me. Sad

I thought it would be like this. Booked to get the CUBs test done at local private hospital. It goes against my principles but I am feeling so so scared and want as much reassurance as possible, as early as possible.

Hi all, can I join please? Have a 14 month old DS, ditched the pill when he was 9 months but af only returned on valentine's day (ha!)
Digital says 1-2 weeks now, so hopefully due around Nov 20th and off to see doctor either tomorrow or Thursday...

Will get to know you all over the next months I hope. Am surprised how much of the process I've forgotten after less than two years.

Wilhelminanevillesdottir · 10/03/2014 14:20

What's the CUBs test onion? 1 week notice is ridiculous. We just phone midwife and they make the appointment on the phone with you for a suitable time for when you are roughly 8 weeks. Did you have a homebirth last time?

Hi Utopian, congratulations.

Tigsy · 10/03/2014 14:26

Hi all. Just catching up after weekend away. Welcome to all the new ladies!
Really sorry to hear your news LittleMiss - take care of yourself and hoping you get a sticky BFP soon.
Am really shattered and feeling a bit sicky today although not sure if that's because I'm stuck in a really stuffy room at a teaching day- really struggling to stay awake! Desperately l

Tigsy · 10/03/2014 14:27

Sorry posted before I'd finished- desperately looking forward to going home for a nap! Hope you are all getting through Monday ok!

weeonion · 10/03/2014 15:21

wima - CUBs - i think it stands for combined ultrasound and blood tests?
There is 2 sets of blood tests and 2 sets of scans , the nuchal scan and the nasal bone one.

Our local hospital - they wont book scans etc on phone so have to wait!

I didnt have HB last time but was lucky to have a great labour with no pain relief. We only made it to hospital with 7 mins to spare.

I would have really liked HB this time. ah well - that may change when i get to see midwives!

Hope you are all doing grand - imagine, for those due earlier in Vov - we are nearly 1/2 way through trimester 1! Grin

WinterLover · 10/03/2014 15:24

hmmm im not hiding this pregnancy as well as my first. gonna have to pick my clothes carefully Confused

RandomInternetStranger · 10/03/2014 15:37

Hi all & welcome to the noobs!

I'm feeling more positive today, not sad, but I am a bit grumpy, nearly snapped at my Dad for harping on about some new Sky package he's just got instead of listening to me being far more important and growing his future grandchild!! Grin Wink Self - important, moi??? Blush

I have my booking in appt with my midwife tomorrow. It's not the same girl I had last time who was amazing so I hope I get on with her and she's nice.

I've realised I need to keep food & drink by my bed. I wakeup feeling sick and the longer I wait to eat the worse it gets, if I eat straight away I feel a million times better.

Boobs hurt a lot, still having to sleep in a padded bra for extra protection! There's no way I'm switching to an unpadded flimsy cotton maternity bra any time soon, I need my padding at the moment to protect them, anything rubbing or knocking them is a killer! I remember that from last time and stayed in padding right up to the birth. They definitely look and feel bigger but my bras all still fit fine so maybe it's just my imagination.

Feeling sick again so better go eat! It's the only way I've found stops it! Smile

ladydolly · 10/03/2014 15:59

weeonion kind of an off topic question but do you travel overseas with work? How are you approaching it with your boss/team? I travel too and have a big event overseas in what would be my 12th week so I'm wondering if I'll be able to get my scan in my 11th week so that (all being well) I can tell work and they can go easy on me while I'm away - it's normally a week of 18/20 hour days fueled by booze and adrenaline and not much more so if I don't tell them they'll wonder what's up with me, I'm normally pretty hardcore on these conferences!

Then I have another big event in what will be around my 36th week, it's only a 2 hour flight away for 4 days but I'm not sure if I can fly or how I'll feel about being away then.

This is my first DC so no idea what to expect and since we want to keep it secret until after the scan I can't ask my friends or colleagues.

Any advice gratefully received!

alita7 · 10/03/2014 16:15

Wee onion that's an awesome thought lol ill be 6 weeks on Thursday bring it on!

MrsWombat · 10/03/2014 16:44

Ladydoll - is there any way you can tell your boss/line manager? Maybe a week or so before the trip when you'll be a bit more confident about things going well? They will have to keep it relatively confidential, if you ask them. (They might have to tell HR or their line manger) You will need a risk assessment sooner rather than later if your job involves aeroplane trips, for your own peace of mind. Smile

Tigsy · 10/03/2014 17:24

In other news.... I've managed to put on 3 and a half pounds in ine week Blush.... It's been non-stop eating!

Tigsy · 10/03/2014 17:25

*one week

AveryJessup · 10/03/2014 18:24

Glad to hear I'm not the only one without tender breasts, MrsW! I wonder if they're just less sore the second time around? Mine are just a bit fuller too, not painful at all compared to last time with DS when I couldn't even cross my arms. DS kicked me in the chest accidentally yesterday and it wasn't pleasant but I would have screamed in agony if that had happened in my first pregnancy.

It was making me paranoid that this one is not a keeper so I'm glad to hear there are others without that symptom Smile.

Welcome to all the new November BFPs!

docpeppa · 10/03/2014 18:25

Hey all, I did another two tests today, both had definite positive lines Smile

I already have a 17 mo dd, so hopefully she will keep me fit during this pregnancy. I put on 5 stone with her and have managed to lose 4 (until now haha)

I don't have sore breasts but definitely feeling nauseous.

Hope everyone is feeling ok x

MrsWombat · 10/03/2014 19:06

What soft drinks are everyone drinking?

I've bought some Elderflower cordial which I drank loads of when breastfeeding last time, plus I'm drinking DS's orange squash and ribena. I'm starting to get bored of it already! I don't like fizzy drinks, and started to go off (decaf) coffee.

Any suggestions?

Polkadotscarf · 10/03/2014 19:07

This thread is a complete relief to read! To see what everyone else is thinking and feeling is great at a time when we are keeping it too ourselves!
Thank you!

alita7 · 10/03/2014 19:08

I'm definitely not drinking the perfect things... I'm allowing myself 2 doctor peppers a week, but when at work struggle without something interesting to drink so I end up going to the vending machine and getting tango or something :/ Having plenty of water and milk though.

ladydolly · 10/03/2014 19:15

Couldn't agree more polka dot you're all keeping me sane when it's all a secret!

Thanks mrsw I think my boss would be great, but the 300 salesmen will know something's up when I'm not drinking!

I don't drink tea or coffee so still on the orange squash ?

LittleRedDinosaur · 10/03/2014 19:19

Hi everyone! Can I join in please?

I'm another one who was at Leeds Uni (a while ago)! positive test on Saturday and feeling a bit crappy- so very tired! DD1 is 17 months, I'm working part time and DH is away in Afghanistan for the next few months.

I think I'm due on 10th based on last period but I've only had one normal length cycle since DD was born so I could be anywhere.

I'm putting off going to the doctor because I've convinced myself it's all going to go wrong but am going to make time to call them tomorrow.

Ladydolly, I flew at 32 weeks last time. Long haul but business class and it was fine. I think how late you can fly depends on the airline but I remember feeling like a big fat lump at 36 weeks so I'd wait before making any decisions

barmybunting · 10/03/2014 19:23

Nice to see some more November additions! Hello everyone.

Thanks for the info on whether to contact the gp or midwife. I phoned the gp surgery to check, having assumed I would just have to wait to see the midwife at 8+ weeks, but the gp have said I need to go and have the pregnancy confirmed by them first, so I have an appointment on Thursday afternoon.

I think it's going to be interesting trying to navigate getting time off for antenatal appointments - my gps surgery has told me they only offer appointments between 9am and 4pm each day, and the midwife clinic is on a Wed morn and that's that! I've only recently started a new job - I'm a primary school teacher covering someone else's maternity leave of all things! - so I'm a tad nervous about telling work. I've decided I don't want to work beyond the summer holidays in this job anyway, and will just do supply after that as it takes me an hour or so to get to school each way, and I don't fancy doing that at 36+ weeks pregnant on very dodgy roads. But I have yet to work out how to school that without them deciding to end my contract before the summer. Oh well! I will see what the gp says on Thurs about appointments.

Along those lines, those of you who already have DC. Where and when did you have your midwife appointments please? Was it always at the gp surgery? They used to offer them at home in the evenings in the place I used to live, but it was very rural so I don't know if that's the norm. I'm hopeful!

LittleRedDinosaur · 10/03/2014 19:28

Barmy, mine were always office hours and varied between GP surgery and at home. There weren't actually that many appointments until the end though. Do you work full time?

barmybunting · 10/03/2014 19:34

Thanks LittleRed. I do work full time unfortunately in this circumstance. I thought it would probably be during normal office hours. I know we are perfectly entitled to the time off, I'm just concerned about telling work when I'm on a temporary maternity contract at school (Which I only started 6 weeks ago) and they can end my contract with a week's notice. Normally, I wouldn't have a problem telling work something like this. Starting a new job just now isn't the best timing!

I think I'll just need to see what happens with my booking in appointment, I'm hoping it will slot into the Easter school holidays time wise, and then I'm just going to need to tell school after that to get the time off for the other appointments. Not that many of them before 34+ weeks anyway, and I need to tell them at some point that I won't be finishing the maternity contract as well, so that is as good a time as any.

LittleRedDinosaur · 10/03/2014 19:40

I know what you mean, I'm working as a locum at the moment and I think they can pretty much just tell me not to bother coming in again if they want to! I'm only part time though so hopefully will be able to fit things in on my days off.

barmybunting · 10/03/2014 20:00

Yes, that's very much the feeling I get too. Are you a medic if you are acting as a locum just now?
Hopefully you'll get things into your days off ok.

I'm hoping that the school would decide it would be daft to bring in another teacher before the summer and be vaguely ok about it, but that's my thoughts, not theirs!

Fingers crossed anyway. I don't particularly want to say anything before the first scan but I think I'll have to really.
