How fast do we get through these threads?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh and I didn't mean to trivialise those who are atill being sick. I know it's a constant thing and horrible. (But does have some pluses)

lucyfluff · 24/02/2014 09:08

I feel the same 2b and Travis...thought I felt movements but not sure now, have a bump when stood up but flat when I lay down and worrying its all ok in there. Had a mild breakdown in bed last night with DH asking him if baby is ok (just needed reassurance from my crazy hormones I think!!!). He told me to stop being silly but it dosent stop me thinking about it constantly.

Also had a fluttery heart moment yesterday...I have had them before but this one lasted about three beats and scared me a bit!!!

lucyfluff · 24/02/2014 09:10

ps Jess - good luck with the Harmony testing...Im sure it will all be ok. I can imagine how worried you are though. If it means extra scans to check growth then thats not too bad. x

travispickles · 24/02/2014 09:14

I've had the heart thing too! Thought it was just me being weird!

lucyfluff · 24/02/2014 11:34

No I read somewhere that heart palpatations are linked to the babys growth and how their heart beats...?! not sure why lol!! Last time my mw didnt seem too bothered. Think I will just keep an eye on it...another thing to worry over Smile

weeza13 · 24/02/2014 20:06

Have had lots of people asking me lately if I can feel baby move yet, not to my knowledge though I think it would be a bit hard as have spent the last two days with my whole stomach feeling a bit crampy, almost like a cross between small stitch and feeling hungry. Its not really painful but not very comfy as it starts right at top by bra line and goes right down. I am sure its nothing but has anyone else had this?

crazylady2013 · 24/02/2014 20:40

Lady my heart has been feeling fluttery. Don't know if they are palpitations.

I have had cramping but mine have been at the bottom of my bump. I assume it is everything streatching and moving around. Trying not to worry about any of these niggling aches but it does play on your mind.

HungryHorace · 24/02/2014 20:43

I've been really round ligament-y today. It's very ouchy when it starts. It's been crampy too.

Lots of growing going on, I think.

weeza13 · 24/02/2014 21:08

Thanks for feedback, I know they can seem like little niggles but just knowing that other people experience the same things does help.

mssleepyhead · 24/02/2014 22:08

People who are further ahead than me (14+2) - when did you get a proper bump? One where you can feel the bottom of it? I just feel like my abdomen is very swollen, and my tummy is being stretched a bit, but it's really between my hips and below where I can feel baby. I'm just wondering when this moves up and starts becoming a bump? It's making clothes so uncomfy right now as even maternity clothes aren't really stretchy in the right way. I need it to move up so I can start wearing things under the bump, soon!

jessplussomeonenew · 24/02/2014 23:13

FMC scan looked great for all the different markers they look for, but they seem to weight the blood results differently. Downs risk has got much lower (now 1/549) but Edwards risk is higher at 1/53. I now need to wait 2 weeks for the Harmony test results which feels like an eternity. But am trying to reassure myself that everything on the scan looked good which seems unlikely with Edwards - hopefully I just have weird blood! We're holding off on telling people until we get the results back which is a bit sad as I was looking forward to sharing the news.

funnyfish2 · 24/02/2014 23:16

Hi all, just checking in it's hard to keep up with all the posts! I passed 17 week mark and had a couple positive experiences. Went for my second midwife check up and got to hear a lovely strong heartbeat 148 per minute! It was such a nice loud sound, really reassuring. And extreme tiredness that has dogged me for weeks looks like it's finally fading. I now need 8-9 hours of sleep rather than 11 (literally), which is a much more realistic proposition since I have a 3 year old DD who wakes us up like clockwork!

Good luck to everyone still waiting on scans/tests!

flymo79 · 25/02/2014 08:45

Jess, that's reassuring news about the scan, try to keep positive, I'm sure the harmony will reassure you even more. It is a shame not to be able to share your news though, early days are quite scary and I really feel for you with what you're going through xxxx

2beornot · 25/02/2014 08:49

Fingers crossed, Jess. It must be seen like a very long wait til harmony results come back. I think I'd hold off telling people too, in your position. You'll be ready to explode once you get the results back (I have visions if you telling the first person you see, no matter who it is!!)

HungryHorace · 25/02/2014 08:53

Good luck with the results, Jess. I really hope it'll be fine. :-)

Jenbee1 · 25/02/2014 10:37

Just heard heartbeat for the first time at 16 week appointment. Absolutely amazing. Can totally understand why dopplers are addictive now!

Shakshuka · 25/02/2014 15:57

Also just heard heartbeat at 16 week appointment. I was a bit worried about having felt movement and then not so it was a relief (as always!). Two and a half weeks to the anomaly scan now....

Jess, just to second what the others have said. 1 in 53 is obviously scary because it's above average but the odds are overwhelmingly in your favour. If you took 100 women with your blood profile, fewer than two will have a baby with Edwards. More than 98 will be absolutely fine. Try and focus on that statistic, especially given that your scan was good. When do you get the harmony results back?

Little tip for those who don't want to splash out yet on maternity clothes - if your trousers are getting tight, loop a hair band through the hole and around the button. It gives you a little extra breathing room!

Thatsnotmyfigure · 25/02/2014 23:21

Good luck Jess fingers crossed for you.
Have also got some over bump black skinny jeans from H n M. They are fab! Boots has still got 3 for 2 on most baby stuff. I've got next 9 months of Pregnacare! 16 wk appt on Friday hoping to meet regular midwife as she was on holiday for my booking in.

Owlysims · 26/02/2014 08:08

The thread disappeared!! Anyway hope everyone is doing well, fingers crossed the harmony results come ASAP!

ClarissaG · 26/02/2014 09:17

Does anyone know, should we still be taking vitamin supplements? Folic Acid I know is only for the first 3 months (I think there are studies that show it can cause asthma or something in the baby if taken late in pregnancy - although don;t quote me on that or worry, look it up). I've been taking nothing since 12 week scan, and have a fairly health diet. What has everyone else been recommended? I forgot to ask my midwife

HungryHorace · 26/02/2014 09:51

You should be taking Vit D at least. This advice only came in the other year, just before I fell pregnant with DD.

I'm taking pregnancy vitamins still for now, then I'll go back to the Healthy Start (C, D and folic acid) ones which I get for free.

Once baby is fully developed, just growing, I don't mind stopping zinc, but I prefer to take it during the development stage, but that's just me!

PinaColadas · 26/02/2014 11:28

oh heck, well i'm still taking extra folic acid, along with pregnacare each day ( 17+5) perhaps I should stop the extra folic. I mentioned to MW and she just said 'if you want to' about the folic, so I assumed it maybe did no harm. I've got one months supply left.

Plan to continue pregnacare througout.

HungryHorace · 26/02/2014 11:49

It won't harm. But after 12 weeks I don't think there's any benefit in folic acid either, as the issues it helps prevent are either there or not by then.

PinaColadas · 26/02/2014 12:06

Aah cool, well thats one less pill to pop, thanks :)

PinaColadas · 26/02/2014 13:17

I feel we're living a lie, everytime I see 'The Thread Fillers' in the title it makes me smile, we're far from it now :)
