Ah that's lovely lissbug!

I got some lovely h and m over bump jeans today and I saw they did 'office type wear' as did mothercare, worth giving them a try??

jessplussomeonenew · 22/02/2014 22:58

Hi, have been posting on other bits of the forum for advice but wanted to let you know our Downs risk from 12 wk scan came back 1 in 58 (due to very low Papp-A) so am trying to get harmony scan booked early next week. After seeing baby on the scan just a few days ago I was starting to really enjoy being pregnant and looking forward to telling people so it's a bit of a shock - hoping for the best but will be a bit in limbo for at least a fortnight.

Lissbug · 22/02/2014 23:22

thanks owlysims. i will try both
jessplussomeonenew. try not to worry. my harmony test gave such a completely different result to my scan so well worth investing in. are you in london? if so try to get to see Dr Nicolades at the fetal medicine centre. they do the test and he discovered the nucal fold relevance to downs. you have to wait ages to see him but he is the best person to look at your baby if you are worried. xx

nocheeseplease · 23/02/2014 11:30

Hi, hope everyone is feeling ok. I've not been on for ages as am still feeling sick and exhausted even though I'm 17 weeks now. Bleurgh! I don't have a bump yet though which is surprising given it's baby number 4...I do have a date for my next scan though - 4th March so it's quite an early one, I'll be 18+4 at that point but I'm so excited and we've decided to find out the sex as the kids are dying to know and want to help pick names. Eeek!! Only 9 more days and we'll know if we're team pink or blue!

Hope you don't mind hungryhorace, I've sent you a pm to ask you to add me to the facebook group.

mssleepyhead · 23/02/2014 12:01

wow - nocheese i'm so jealous you're that close to finding out! mine isn't until the start of april which just feels FOREVER away... there's a private scan place near where i live that does a "just gender" scan for £40 from 18 weeks and i'm so tempted to go... we're going on a trip to france just before our 20 week scan and i'd love to be able to buy some baby bits and pieces whilst we're there (baby is 1/3rd french!). yeah. let's be honest, i'm moments from booking it ; )

weeza13 · 23/02/2014 13:14

Jessplus, I know its hard but really try not to worry, I am sure all will be fine.

HungryHorace · 23/02/2014 14:37

Jess, one of the women who was pregnant when I was with DD had a REALLY low PAPP A level.

She had regular growth scans and was induced at 38 weeks as her DS wasn't growing very well.

He was tiny when he was born, but is now a beautiful 8 month old, meeting all his milestones.

Please try not to worry too much.

I've just done my Sunday Doppler and had another listen to baby. :-) It kept moving out of my way! Most amusing.

I've had more movement over the last few days, which is lovely.

Mssleepyhead, that's a good price for a scan. If you want French labels, check out Zulily online as they have quite a few bits on there.

Hope everyone is OK.

mssleepyhead · 23/02/2014 14:59

shopping alert! bio oil is on 3 for 2 in boots at the moment. somehow when they put it through the till for me it came up as 3 for 1, so got £60 of the stuff for £20! hoping it will be enough to get me through till august : )

mssleepyhead · 23/02/2014 14:59

and thanks for the tip, hungry, i'll give that a look.

Ruggle · 23/02/2014 17:04

I had such a lovely day yesterday. Threw up my first breakfast but kept everything else down and even managed a family trip to the Pixar concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and didn't throw up in the car (which is a first)....however I did come home feeling exhausted.
Fast forward to this morning....totally different story! Threw up before breakfast. Ate a banana. Banana came straiggt back up...into my hands...en route to bathroom! Had a small cooked breakfast later (eggs'n'beans and a tiny bit of toast) which did stay down....but them at lunch I ate some Peppa Pig Pasta Shapes (that munchkin didn't want....and they came straight back up.....as did a packet of Doritos that I just forces down....and I haven't been able to stomach anything else all day. Urgh. Feeling tired, miserable and sick.....and I'm 15+2 and wondering if this is going to last the full 9 months! Anyone got any words of wisdom? I worry the babba isn't getting enough nutrients, as I only manage to eat properly every three days or so. I feel pressure from my bump inside so I wonder if it's just pushing on my stomach or something. It's still hardly a bump on the outside.
16 week check-up this Thursday. Midwife is a bit useless though. I'm sure I'll get told off for losing weight. I'm 55kilos....but was 56 at booking in!

mssleepyhead · 23/02/2014 17:26

a pixar concert at the royal albert hall?? that sounds amazing! i'm glad you got a good day yesterday, ruggle. my nausea hasn't let up either, at 14+1. i know it's still early (and i really can't complain at nausea vs sickness) but i'm so done with it! at the point now where i just can't manage any pressure at all on my tummy, which is going to make changing out of my pjs very tricky tomorrow... boo for the end of school holidays! i hope you feel better soon ruggle and if the midwife has a go, have a go back! sounds like you have the perfect excuse for it.

Secretlypregnant · 23/02/2014 17:32

Hope you feel better soon, Ruggle and Mssleepyhead. Maybe you should talk to your GP if the midwife isn't helpful on Thursday, Ruggle? Although hopefully yesterday is the start of things to come.

lucyfluff · 23/02/2014 18:14

Hey ladies Smile havnt been on mn much just popped into say hello to those not on fbk.

Jess - I dont know anything about the Papp results, but Im sure everything with bubba will be fine. Are the hospital making you see a consultant or have any other tests??

Ruggle - poor thing re sickness...you must feel cack with no let up Sad dont worry about baby though, they take all your goodness and just leave us feeling rubbish no matter what you eat! Im only 57 kg too and mw didnt say anything about weight!

Mssleepy I would be so tempted to find out sex at that price!!! Ho for it Smile

I have felt a bit wobbly the past few says...thought I felt flutters end of last week low down but past few days nothing. I know its really early at 14+2 so I shouldnt worry about it I just hope everything is fine. Its such an awkward inbetween stage! Oh well Im off to scoff strawberries Smile

lucyfluff · 23/02/2014 18:15

obviously wasnt calling you a ho Wink

HungryHorace · 23/02/2014 18:37

They won't weigh you, Ruggle, so you'll be safe from a telling off.

There really isn't much you can do unless you're willing to take something to try to stop the sickness.

Baby will get nutrients from you, but it's dehydration you need to watch out for. One of the women who was pregnant at about the same time as me took the drugs, but still ended up in hospital for extended stays a few times, then ended up with a compromise of having to go in EVERY DAY for fluids by IV. She had a 7lb something boy, so clearly he got nutrients from her. :-)

You should maybe talk to someone about the tablets to stop the vomiting, for baby's sake.

I hope you feel better soon.

Lucy, at least strawberries are healthy. I made scones for us to scoff earlier. Not one of my 5 a day! :-)

lucyfluff · 23/02/2014 19:21

Oh yeah I saw you made some scones Smile yummy!!! Im so bad at eating fruit I figure strawberries dipped in sugar still count Wink

jessplussomeonenew · 23/02/2014 20:07

Thanks for all the encouraging words. Lucy, there are two possible problems - first that the Papp-A is low due to a chromosomal abnormality such as downs, which is what I'm hoping the Harmony test will rule out. If that's not the case, it may mean the placenta isn't working brilliantly which can lead to restricted growth, pre-eclampsia and various other problems. It could also be none of these and lots of people with low Papp-A do have problem-free pregnancies. The hospital seem a bit too relaxed - lots of people with Papp-A below 0.3 (mine is 0.176) have monthly growth scans but the Midwife I spoke to seemed to think their regular monitoring (tape measure on bump) will be enough - I'm planning to press for extra scans to be on the safe side!

Secretlypregnant · 23/02/2014 20:27

Lissbug, if these are the right size for you they might end up being a bargain - they are a good make (Seraphine) but not listed as that in the title and no one has put a bid on them yet:

Lissbug · 23/02/2014 20:57

thanks secretlypregnant! will put in a bid!
for all those still feeling nauseous - me too. at 14+3, I have not been sick once but still struggling to eat anything particularly healthy. managed a bit of salad from my fave salad place this eve but it was a real struggle. so sorry for those of you being sick still. thats so tough. when i am feeling really bad i am able to eat the plain milk breakfast bars. they are almost tatsteless. worth a try?

Mitchell81 · 24/02/2014 06:42

Hello everyone. I thought my sickness had gone as when on holiday was only sick once in nearly two weeks. But no had only been back in the uk for an hour and was sick and then again when I got home. DH thinks it was just just stress and tiredness- had been travelling for 2 hours. I am nearly 14 weeks and sickness stopped at 16 weeks with all my other pregnancies. Our holiday was great, think it helped with MS not really cooking/ no dishwasher to unload and DH helping to do everything. I'm not happy to be back if MS is back too. Booking gender scan for less than 2 weeks time- can't wait as can then start buying things. I need everything except a pram and cot bed. Have bought some neutral clothes and can get all my boy clothes back from my cousin. (Wasn't planning on having any more children) thinking I'm going to have a Moses basket this time as usually have a swinging crib but none if mine ever slept in it. As we usually co sleep till 6 months as gives me the most rest. Although ds3 never settled as well in our bed as he did in his own bed.

2beornot · 24/02/2014 07:56

Morning ladies.

Can I be a bit jealous of you ladies who are still feeling sick? I know that sounds utterly ridiculous but I can't help but worry. The whole "I don't feel pregnant" thing is so subjective. Is it a bump or just my fat belly? Was that baby movements or tummy gurgling? Etc. I suppose you could do that with sickness as well though.

3 weeks til scan and I can't wait because I need to know everything is ok. I keep trying to remember what it was like with dd at this stage but just can't remember.

Anyone else not really feeling anything?!

travispickles · 24/02/2014 08:41

Yes 2be I am tempted to go to midwife and ask for hb check as I was feeling movement but its stopped. Only 16.5 so not that bad but I can't help stressing.

FriendofDorothy · 24/02/2014 08:45

I wouldn't worry yet about not feeling too much movement, or feeling inconsistent movement. Baby is still dinky and if it is in a different position you may not feel it so much.

travispickles · 24/02/2014 08:53

I know. I think it's also as I don't feel well- getting migraines and not sleeping well which increases anxiety levels.

2beornot · 24/02/2014 08:53

I know, FoD. I'm a very logical/practical person - rarely does the emotional side win over! But I can't talk myself out of this one. Last week I was already to go to hosp and get checked. The only thing that stopped me was not knowing whether I need to go to main unit or EPU at this point and not having phone numbers to hand. Plus I know that even if there were something wrong, at this stage there's little/nothing that can be done. Arrrrrgh.

Travis - I thought I was feeling movement but now I'm not sure if I ever was or not!

I start new job on Monday so if I don't see someone this week, it'll have to wait until regular scan. I've already had to tell them I'm pg - don't want it to be a "thing" so soon!!
