Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

DaisyBank82 · 24/01/2014 11:25

Told one of my direct reports this morning and she said she already knew and it made me cry which wasn't what I had planned! I don't like the idea of people talking about me in the office even though I've speculated about other women in the past so it serves me right. She said she has known since before Christmas when I didn't drink at the party. Feeling really insecure and nervous about it today. Not sure why but might be something to do with the fact I was asleep at 9.45 then awake from 12-3am mind racing and feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Oh had Down's test result and it's officially lower risk but they had my weight very wrong on the form - it was probably from years ago and I'm much heavier now :( Does anyone think that could ruin the result? I meant to call them today to flag it but have left the doc at home.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 24/01/2014 12:31

Hi DaisyBanks best thing to do is to call and ask, and then call back with the document in hand if you need to.

Can I ask you all a hideous, embarrassing question? Is anybody else gassy? Because I am and I'm mortified. It's the first time in my life that I've been unable to control it and lovely DH is doing his best to pretend he's ignoring it but I actually woke us both up this morning. It's horrible. What's happening to my body? There is no dignity in pregnancy.

Plateofcrumbs · 24/01/2014 14:11

Is humble pie sweet or savoury? Should I be eating this with a side order of ice-cream or gravy?

I was wrong. DH was right. Happy to be counted in the ranks of melodramatic, over-anxious, over-googling, paranoid mums-to-be.

Initial CVS results all clear. Not totally out of the woods 'til we get the full screening in another couple of weeks and we'll still have extra monitoring throughout due to some slight concerns about the heart and growth. But T21 was the main risk and that's been ruled out.

MASSIVE SIGH OF RELIEF.

Anyone wishing to say "I knew you'd be fine, you muppet", please get stuck in.

Plateofcrumbs · 24/01/2014 14:13

Oh and huge THANKS to everyone for listening to my over-dramatic wittering and offering words of support over the last couple of weeks, it's really helped LOADS.

Becky2208 · 24/01/2014 14:21

Great news plate. Hope the rest of screening comes back with the right results too.

ismarah · 24/01/2014 14:43

Plate that's great news! So relieved for you and drinks for your husband are on us, virtually.. Wine

liquidstate · 24/01/2014 15:26

Let out a huge squee when I read your post plate! fantastic news.

Am trying to get more liquids by eating ice lollies, but its nippy today so am under a duvet with a hot water bottle. Grin Very weird. Saw doctor this morning as my headaches and tiredness have got worse, no high blood pressure fortunately and I have been signed off for another two weeks.

ZingSweetApple · 24/01/2014 15:42

Plate

hurrah!

you should eat a savoury humble pie followed by a dessert humble pie!

well done MrPlate for being right! Grin

honestly, congrats on good news, soooooo happy for you! Thanks Thanks

ZingSweetApple · 24/01/2014 15:43

and in honour of excellent news you need to NC to PlateOfHumblePieCrumbs !Wink

DaisyBank82 · 24/01/2014 15:52

Great news Plate thrilled for you! now take care of yourself and stop worrying (if you can).

Em1503 · 24/01/2014 16:16

Hi everyone, I have my proper due date now- 26th July!! Can someone add it to the list properly for me please as I can't seem to copy and paste from my phone! I'm still feeling so yuck, but my appetite has gone through the roof and I'm hungry all the time! Did anyone else experience the same this early on? I'm 14 weeks tomorrow.

mummytobejuly2014 · 24/01/2014 16:41

plate good news :) hope the rest are fine too :)
struggling with daily heartburn as soon as I start to nod off :s keep forgetting to buy gaviscon

NancyinCali · 24/01/2014 16:58

Oh plate I'm so pleased for you!! Doing a little happy dance for you Grin

I can't remember who asked but yy on gassy and yy on eating loads. I am going to be a fat farting spotty delight this pregnancy!

BlueC2 · 24/01/2014 17:03

plate :) fantastic news! Bet you are so relieved! This pregnancy thing isn't easy on our nerves or bodies so don't worry about all the fretting-perfectly normal!

Well, nausea has abated for past 24 hourts but been replaced by stonking headache Hmm and DS being up half the night didn't help either-nor the argument with DH at 3am about how we should settle DS or leave him to cry (have no idea what was up with little man which makes sorting him out even harder!)

liquid glad you have been signed off-try to forget about work so you can focus on getting through this hideous period of sickness!

Whoever mentioned wind - I got horrendous trapped wind when pregnant with DS-went to docs I was in such pain and he prescribed lactulose. That night the relief of err getting the wind out was amazing but the smell resembled something from a nuclear powers plant Blush swear we couldve bottled the stuff and sold it as a chemical weapon! DH refused to sleep in our bed and ended up on the sofa that night! The indignity of pregnancy!

oo00PIXIE00oo · 24/01/2014 17:31

Hi ladies just had my downs results back we are not high risk (1:150) however my results were 1:183 should I push for more tests I'm 14+6 aged 43??

Plateofcrumbs · 24/01/2014 17:37

Thanks everyone! Have been enjoying having the weight of worry lifted and generally re-engaging with being pregnant (I'd not looked at the pictures we got from the scan until now - the sonographer was right, (s)he IS photogenic Grin )

DH is not going to let me forget about this. It's going to get replayed every time I over-think something. For the record I'd like to point out I am almost always right about everything, this was just a pregnancy-brained blip Wink

Plateofcrumbs · 24/01/2014 17:46

Pixie - obviously you're speaking to the wrong person given I worked myself into a gibbering wreck over a 1 in 98 result, but...

1 in 183 is a good result for your age. Only really you can judge whether you want further tests - much depends on what you'd do with the information. Were there any other markers that were mentioned or is this just from the nuchal measurement/hormone/age combination?

Harmony test is an option if the costs are bearable, as that removes the agonising about the miscarriage risks of CVS/amnio.

liquidstate · 24/01/2014 18:12

Pixie - what test did you have? I had a private 12 week scan and bloods by a harmony specialist that picked up more than the blood markers; eg presence of nasal bone etc. and my risk went from 1 in 50 to 1 in 1128. I am 41. We decided against harmony testing in the end.

If you are worried I would recommend the harmony test though. Nothing worse than worrying over the next 6 months.

talulahbelle · 24/01/2014 18:27

Em1503 We have the same due date! I'm getting a huge appetite too, today I've had porridge, OJ, a banana, an orange, bag of apricots, one of mango, pocket of hoola hoops, round of homemade sandwiches, yogurt, supermarket sandwiches and a twix. dinner still to come. Probably not a surprise I also have heartburn and have started the gaviscon.

mummytobe I've been told you can get gaviscon on prescription - going to try and get a GPs appointment for next week and see if my doctor will oblige.

plate so happy for you, glad the results were normal.

OP posts:
BlueC2 · 24/01/2014 19:48

Yes you can get gaviscon on prescription-something I learnt at 38 weeks last time after spending a fortune buying it for myself! Make sure you've also got your prescription waiver card so you don't have to pay.

liquidstate · 24/01/2014 20:00

I got prescribed Gaviscon this morning by the doctor. I even got a choice of flavours. Grin

Jealous of anyone that can eat fruit. Havent been able to since November. Envy

MrsB2013 · 24/01/2014 20:21

Plate so happy for you, you must feel so relieved!

I keep getting heartburn too, does gaviscon work?

Incapinka · 24/01/2014 20:28

Hoorah to Plate. I would have done exactly the same as you. I panic and then at least am semi prepared for the worst if that makes sense.

Following my jet propelled fart the other night (it even hurt!) I can confirm that yes I am gassy. Pregnancy is not the most dignified experience and having given birth it doesn't necessarily improve. Certain positions in yoga are made even more tricky with the determination not to fanny fart.... Apologies for tmi!

And I never got the pregnancy glow. I only got it about 2 days post birth when bizarrely my skin was the best it ever has been...

One final random thing is does anyone have a wheat intolerance? I used to and when I was pregnant with DS it bizarrely went and have heard that others have had a similar result?
