Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

I'm home with DS1 (the others are at school or grandma) - we are drinking peppermint tea and watching The Big Bang Theory.

fasting is now over and I'm on the mend. yay!
I walked around Tesco trying to figure out what would heal me - I bought lovely stuff I really felt like eating snd had toasted baguette slices with a "salad" of tomatoes, mozzarella, Italian salami, basil and garlic all chopped/sliced finely and drizzled with olive oil.

It was the most delicious and enjoyable meal in a long time.

sorry for all the sickness still happeningSad

BlueC2 · 12/02/2014 14:17

MrsA2 I'll send you a PM about the clothes with photos.

zing so glad you are on the mend and your baguette lunch sounds sooo yummy!! I long to really enjoy food properly again but suspect it will be late July/early August before that happens :)

I have pretty much accepted now that I'm just not going to get the energy burst I had last time during the second trimester :( so it's just a case of plodding along and doing as much as I can before I collapse in a heap each evening! I am feeling pleased that I've got all the nursery stuff and DS's swap to the spare room pretty much sorted (in my head!) we just need to work out when to do the switch around now. He will keep all his decorative accessories and take them into the new room and I have a new (similar) set to go in the nursery. And apart from a couple of big items (new mattress for cotbed and buggy board) we're all stocked up on everything else we need ready for LO which feels quite satisfying. Will feel much better once we've had our scan on Friday though and know we're through that hurdle (I always get v tense in the run up to any scan!).

Wish this rain would go away!!!

mummytobejuly2014 · 12/02/2014 15:02

Our 2yr old fridge is broken and just cried down the phone to the independant shop as they refuse to help even tho they changed the date on mothers fridge receipt bought a few months after us for her to contact Beko and get it fixed for free. Complete hormonal breakdown, first one and hopefully not too many more

MrsB2013 · 12/02/2014 16:47

MrsA I'm jealous of your Caribbean holiday!! Would love to get away for some sun right now!

I've no idea how much weight I've put on so far, I'm avoiding the scales! I went off food for a few weeks but I'm back on it now, and loving chocolate again!

Oh no Mummy hope you can get it sorted and someone to come out and fix it for you!

ZingSweetApple · 12/02/2014 17:46

mummytobe

sorry about that.
I had a very angry convo with DS1's school, because they sent me a letter about his attendance rate going down and how his in now a permanent absentee and I quote "if no improvements are made to ZingBoy1's attendance a referral to the Education Welfare Officer will be considered".
Shock Angry wtaf???

I blew up. just what on Earth can I possibly do to stop him from having bouts of sinusitis, tonsillitis or gastroenteritis?

seriously?
I told her that unless I call a wizard with a magic wand there's nothing I can actually do and that I'm frankly offended at the whole tone of the the letter but especially at being threatened.
I was rude, then I cried and apologized.Blush

the conversation ended because they had a fire drill - I'm not convinced she didn't activate the alarms herself just so I would be forced to hang up!Grin

are you all looking forward to parenthood even more now?Wink

Mrsc020987 · 12/02/2014 18:35

Had 20 week scan today, baby appears fine but not wanting to show face, at all! Too comfy and having a snooze! Need to go back next week, which is nice gives me another chance to see them before they are in my arms!

AuntieMaggie · 12/02/2014 19:35

So if I don't find out what I'm having do they do that thing they do on the telly where they cheer "its a boy/girl"?

ZingSweetApple · 12/02/2014 19:50

Maggie

ask them at the beginning to not tell you as you don't want to know.
they must respect your wish.

elliejjtiny · 12/02/2014 20:36

plate so pleased for you.

zing glad you're on the mend and your DS1's school sounds insane.

Booking bloods are done thank goodness. The anaesthetist got them on attempt 3. Weather was horrible on the way home and the bus was taking ages so I panicked and phoned the school to say I was coming to get DS1 and DS2 early. We got home to find we had a power cut which DS1 said was "just like when you were my age mummy, before electricity was invented" Thanks DS1 Grin

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 12/02/2014 20:55

Good to hear you are feeling better Zing.

Very jealous of the holiday MrsA. I'm looking at spending some frequent flyer miles to go on holiday in October but there isn't much available where we want to go. Pre-birth I'm just going to have to make do with going on a business trip instead which definitely is not a holiday.

Nothing much to report here other than I must start thinking about moving DS into his future bedroom soon.

MrsA2 · 12/02/2014 21:07

Blue I'll take a look at your PM now, thanks.

We've had an offer accepted on the house we wanted. Woo hoo! Now the painful mortgage/solicitor part begins but for tonight at least I'm feeling positive.

Does anyone know much about travel insurance? The Caribbean island we are visiting is quite small and has an awful public hospital (we've been there before) so I want to try to find travel insurance that guarantees I'd get to use the private hospital (which is excellent) if I had any complications. Seemingly the norm is to be sent to the nearest public hospital.

A massive long shot, but does anyone know a travel insurer that'll use private hospitals? If not I guess lots of calling round for me. I've already booked cheap insurance so I'm covered for cancellation in the meantime so that buys me a few weeks to get it sorted anyway.

ZingSweetApple · 12/02/2014 21:36

ellie

that's hilarious and it gets better.
I googled electricity.

turns out in ancient Egypt people had knowledge of electric fish, the earliest text describing them were written around 2750 BC.

so what are your 4765th birthday? Grin

ZingSweetApple · 12/02/2014 21:36

*what are your plans

ismarah · 12/02/2014 23:19

Ladies asking about travel insurance: if you have insurance already you might be covered until 28 weeks anyway - which is the cut off point for needing a fit to fly note from the doctor. We have travel insurance from last year - 12 month multitrip type - and under their terms as I'm insured, bean is insured until that point. We're with Insure and Go who have been quite good with insuring preexisting conditions for travel. Basically pregnancy is seen as a normal thing for you and if something goes wrong before week 28 they consider it a problem with you. If that makes sense...

Do read your terms and conditions and be very careful about your dates. We'll be going to the US next month and back in April. I'll be 27w Xdays when we return so I'm cutting the 28week thing a bit fine.

Also note that the 28week fit to fly thing depends on the airline so check yours, although I suspect most are between 28-30 weeks. It does also depend on your journey plan - Europe vs trans-Atlantic. The fit to fly note must not be older than 72hrs (again, check your airline) by the time you travel but with a doctors note you might be fine. The trick for most of us would be to get a doctors note at the destination for the return flight..

lemonpoppyseed · 13/02/2014 01:59

Had OB appt this morning, and it's a girl! In absolute shock - all signs pointed boy again; this pregnancy has been identical to previous one so far! Thrilled, but still coming round to the idea - really didn't think it was a possibility! Grin

ZingSweetApple · 13/02/2014 02:04

lemon

yay! congrats!Thanks

NancyinCali · 13/02/2014 02:33

Yay lemon Grin Congratulations!

icklekid · 13/02/2014 05:20

Gosh such a lot going on!

Congratulations on the house offer how exciting mrsa

Sorry to hear about ds school zing its crazy the pressure schools are put under for attendance- ours triggered ofsted in the past but if they are ill nothing you can do!

Yay for a girl lemon time to re organise I'm guessing!

ellie hope your power is back or will be soon, what a nightmare :-(

MrsA2 · 13/02/2014 07:32

Thanks Ismarah I'll be about 25 weeks when we are away (though will now triple check this!) - would you get a fit to fly note 72 hours before anyway? I have visions of air hostesses making me prove myself due to a massive (in my eyes anyway) bump.

Lemon lovely news, congratulations

ZingSweetApple · 13/02/2014 09:11

MrsA

no, at 25 weeks you don't need anything.

you could take your maternity notes with you, that's proof enough.

but as before just check with the actual airline you are travelling with - policies might vary or get changed.

year ago you could fly beyond 32 weeks but you needed a GP permission that was done 24 hours prior to flying!
no idea now, haven't flown since my dad died 4 years ago (I was 34 weeks pg with DS5)

ZingSweetApple · 13/02/2014 09:12

years* ago

Ipsumlorem · 13/02/2014 09:56

MrsA well jealous of your holiday - would love to be jetting off right about now even with the sickness! Smile

ellie must be exciting knowing it's a girl this time Smile

Well ladies - it was bound to happen - A week and a half of being completely run off my feet with work has finally wrecked me Sad

Haven't slept properly in weeks and was really sick last night/this morning so am going to work at home today - couldn't face the commute as still sick and head is thumping. I'm hoping it goes away again with a bit of sleep later - think I'm just exhausted but thankfully I reckon my project cover is finally up and running so fx no more huge issues.

Its so annoying not being able to run on the little sleep I usually would without getting sick but I guess it is just jelly beans way of saying 'slow down!' Grin

Have a nice day ladies Grin

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 13/02/2014 13:47

pokes head round door...

Hello everyone! Sorry to have done a disappearing act on you all, life got kind of hectic and in the way and well... I had no energy to do anything but rush about and then collapse.

I've skimmed the thread but I might have missed a couple of things.. hope everyone's doing well. Congratulations to those who've had their 20 week scans already! Commiserations to those still suffering with sickness. (whispers I'm scared to say it, but I think I might finally be past the stage of throwing up every night... it's been at least a week and a half anyway...)

Everything seems to be going fine this end. 18 weeks tomorrow! Had a midwife appointment this morning and heard the baby's heartbeat, and in the last week have begun to feel a few bubbly/squirmy/wriggly bits of movement which has been quite exciting! All feels way way more real. Even have a tiny bump which my friend has christened a bimp.

I've told my current client and team about the pregnancy as contract renewals came up for discussion (plus I was terrified that one day I was just going to wake up looking VERY pregnant). They've reacted really well, are happy to be flexible with my work hours/working from home as and when I need to (I guess because if I don't wok, they don't have to pay me!).. so hopefully I'll have paid work coming in until I'm ready to go on maternity leave. (They were also raising the idea of me doing a couple of days here and there once the baby is here... but I think that might be slightly ambitious...)

Also we've begun Buying All The Things (well, a cot, drawers and a mattress) which is frankly terrifying.

Ipsum - hope you have a restful day and feel better soon.

mummytobejuly2014 · 13/02/2014 14:20

mrsA your hol sounds fab. Cant see us getting away anywhere before baby arrives. A week of heat and sun would be lush! Congrats on the house also.
zing that school sounds very harsh, better to keep sickly child at home than spread germs to the whole class surely?
lemon congrats on little girl, id love our first to be a girl but convinced its a boy for some unknown reason.
Picked up my bounty Mum to be pack today - quite a few freebies, made sure to stick mobile number on it which blocks unknown calls & a junk mail email address also. Also got the boots parents club changing bag - seems a bit pants, smaller than my work handbags lol. Think I might keep an eye out on ebay for a slightly bigger one & donate the boots one. The nappies are size 1 newborn, seem so small and so soft, cute. Cant wait for our big scan, im itching to buy little vests and sleep suits in the right colour. Off work again today, cant get comfortable enough to sleep or stick a days work. Think ive done alright getting to 19wks without taking any sick days
