Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

My sleeping pattern is screwed up too.
up at 4.30-5.00 am most mornings.
by 7am it feels like midnight.
I'm actually confused by this.

fifi

I guess I'd be counting down too if it wasn't for DS2 needing tonsillectomy very soon (will find out on Wed/Thu) and the house thing.

A good thing happened though - last night we had Domino's pizza for the first time and it was delicious!

so I'm focusing on the joy that is founding a new comfort food!Grin

Ipsumlorem · 09/02/2014 08:04

Well managed to survive hell week in work barely and slept most of yesterday! Feel a bit better if still a bit tired - wish I was off on Monday too ickle!

Laday sorry to hear about your son - I know it must be scary but I hope everything turns out alright from here. To echo what others have said, my mum has a minor valve leak in her heart and it has never bothered her- nor has she required surgery to fix it to date.

zing glad you got to enjoy your pizza - hope viewings went/go well. Smile

blue hope you got some sleep!

So I've been feeling some flutters, like stroking feeling on the inside and then kind of like a continuous 'tapping' feeling - especially if I lie a certain way (knees closer to tummy so semi crunched up) in bed or when I'm sitting or driving mostly. Can't wait until I can feel proper big movements! Grin Another week and 2 days until my 20 week scan - can't wait to see jellybean again but also a bit scared incase there's anything wrong. Dh and I have agreed that all being well we will book a gender scan for after that as the hospital I go to won't tell you the gender. We didn't want to know at the beginning but I am now sporting a proper bump (maybe as I'm so short it is more noticeable? ) and feeling some movement we have both changed our minds Wink I know not everyone wants to know and I know its not 100% accurate but I like the idea of being able to imagine what our child will be like and what our little family will look like iykwim? Smile

AuntieMaggie · 09/02/2014 08:41

Morning everyone. Had a really bad nights sleep - if I wasn't coughing my stomach and boobs were uncomfortable so I had to switch sides about 1000 times. Does anyone else get this?

19 weeks today and just over a week til my 20 week scan - excited and scared at the same time. Not sure what to expect.

talulahbelle · 09/02/2014 08:41

I am fretting about not having a date for my 20 week scan still... I had a 12 week one at the EPU and missed my official nuchal scan. (They tried for 4 hours to do the nuchal measurements then admitted it wasn't always possible, I couldn't face going back 2 days later so cancelled it)
So maybe that's why I don't have a 20 week date. Typical today is Sunday, I will just have to phone up tomorrow and try and sort it out.

ipsum I definitely want to find out the gender, I wasn't sure earlier but DH does and I think it will help us both imagine our family.

icklekid · 09/02/2014 09:19

auntie yes to swap sides all the time and my hips really ache when I wake despite having pillows!

We're not going to find out which is very personal decision!

talulah I would ring I didn't find out about 12 weeks and rang they were really nice!

ZingSweetApple · 09/02/2014 09:43

Maggie

20 weeks scan is when sonographer carefully checks baby over - at the end you can see on the sheet that s/he ticked for lots of body parts & organs as being visible.

they will offer to find out gender, but sometimes they can't if baby's in an awkward position.

I think they measure the femur again to calculate baby's length and weight.

so it's a longish one and I tend to try and not to talk as they need to concentrate on their job.
It's quite scary how for the first minutes they might be completely silent so you start thinking "Shock oh fuck, what's wrong with babyShock Shock Shock Shock Shock ?" but honestly I tell you it is completely normal procedure, silence doesn't mean anything else but that the person is doing their job.

so please please remember that!Smile

ZingSweetApple · 09/02/2014 09:44

talulah

you must call the hospital and book one.
post does get lost and you need one booked asap

AuntieMaggie · 09/02/2014 09:56

Thanks zing do I need to take a wee sample? And did you bother getting scan pics?

My friend is due at the end of July and I didn't realise how unclear my 12 week scan pics are til I saw hers even though the sonographer said. We're not going to find out the gender (even though I had a wobble yesterday when I was shopping)
Talulah don't fret just call tomorrow. They must be used to it!

ZingSweetApple · 09/02/2014 10:09

no scan pics as baby is too big for that.

no pee sample needed - that's only for GP/MW/consultation apps.

you are not required a full bladder generally, but I still do a half full thing, just in case.

NancyinCali · 09/02/2014 16:29

That's interesting zing about no scan pics at 20 weeks. We got them with dd1 (we were still in uk then). Wonder if it depends on the hospital?

2 weeks tomorrow until our scan (18 weeks). They wanted to do it at 17 weeks but my DH is away then.

Yy on bad sleep. Bought a pregnancy pillow yesterday but that made it worse! Hoping yoga will help today.

elliejjtiny · 09/02/2014 16:49

I had my 16 week midwife appointment on Friday. I said that I hadn't had an appointment for a consultant appointment or a 20 week scan so she chased those up for me. She tried and failed to get my booking bloods so I've got to go to the antenatal ward on Wednesday to get them done there. Got an appointment for DS2 on Tuesday and DS4 on Thursday so it's hospital overload this week. Also booked my GTT and 25 week midwife appointment.

re: 20 week scans I'm a little bit excited and mostly nervous. We're going to find out, mostly because I nearly ended up with a C-section under GA with DS4 and it really bothered me that we didn't know the sex.

re: heartburn I find rennies tablets the least horrible tasting

ZingSweetApple · 09/02/2014 16:55

nancy

that is interesting! maggie it might be worth asking if they could give you some scan pics!Smile

icklekid · 09/02/2014 18:15

Ohh interesting I was expecting scan pics good to know so I don't get disappointed! I'm just scared something will be wrong but don't think that will change. Mines a week tomorrow!

Rennies it is then tomorrow! Saw a friend earlier who had cravings for rolos and have really wanted some since then!

AuntieMaggie · 09/02/2014 18:20

zing and nancy I think they do them at my hospital as there are posters about them being less clear as baby gets bigger - I just didn't know if it was worth it. Interestingly though my friend has a 4 yr old and scan pics were free then but 4 each now!

Looking at what I might need when baby first arrives - do I need any long sleeves for a July baby?

nancy I've been using my v pillow to prop my boobs and belly up but not sure if its making it worse. my boobs are agony some nights!

AuntieMaggie · 09/02/2014 18:24

ickle my scan is a week tomorrow too :)

lemonpoppyseed · 09/02/2014 20:42

Liquidstate, I have the opposite - leg hair has stopped growing! Shaved my legs last Monday morning, and virtually no re-growth - v unusual for me! Same happened last time with DS... Yet head hair is growing strong and thick. Very odd.

We have our 19 week scan tomorrow. Looking forward to it and a bit apprehensive all at the same time. Have absolutely no feeling as to boy or girl at the moment, so hope baby (and their bits) will co-operate tomorrow!

museumworker · 09/02/2014 20:42

I had scan pics at 20 wks for both last pregnancies, did prefer 12 weeks though. No one ever mentioned they'd be less clear!

NancyinCali · 09/02/2014 21:16

Our sonographer was very amused when I told him we had to pay 4 quid for one scan picture in the UK. As he handed us three and a DVD. Of course we're paying for this service via our health insurance Wink.

oo00PIXIE00oo · 09/02/2014 21:40

Hi ladies jus thought I would pop on an say I have very bad heartburn and spoke to mw - she said Gaviscon only and definitely no to rennies x

ZingSweetApple · 09/02/2014 22:30

TMI warning!

I have got the runs, spent most of my day on the loo and have had horrible cramping pains all day.
I don't dare to fart, I stopped eating and since 5pm I had 3 sips of water, the first sip made me gag.

no other symptoms - so I don't know if it's a virus (DS1 & DS4 have a milder version of it) or food poisoning or what.
I'll call 111 shortly, I started to worry if it's something that could effect baby.

I feel so ill - Envy this colour.

liquidstate · 10/02/2014 04:52

You can get Gaviscon from the doctors on the free prescription!

So sorry you are ill Zing. Hope its not lasting and baby is fine.

I am wide awake and have sore throat and runny nose. Supposed to go to work today but the office is inaccessible due to floods so another day at home. I will try and do some work though Smile. Head now much clearer than 3 months ago.

icklekid · 10/02/2014 05:16

Oh zing that really does sound awful :-(

liquid work whilst watching the Olympics?

So relieved to have slept until 5 this morning can face a day at work now!

Did anyone watch call the midwife? I was in pieces, sobbing for a good 30 mins during and couldn't stop after :'-( very emotional!

jaykay987 · 10/02/2014 05:57

lemon Mine is growing inconsistently too. Legs and underarms have virtually stopped. But a very attractive hair on my chin grows about 1cm practically overnight! My hair is out of control.

zing that sounds horrid. Hope you're feeling better now.

So I'm 19+5 and yesterday I'm realised I'm almost halfway through second trimester and I'm still waiting for my 'glow' to kick in!!
I've woken up feeling really nauseous. Urgh! DH keeps telling me I'm a medical miracle (hardly) as my symptoms should have gone by now. (He used to say the same when I had ms in the evening! Men!)

Ipsumlorem · 10/02/2014 06:40

Bleugh (also known as good morning!). Still tired from last week but gotta try and get outa bed Sad Early night tonight methinks!

Hope the sickness etc goes away and everyone has an ok day. ickle I cried buckets at call the midwife too Smile

AuntieMaggie · 10/02/2014 07:38

Morning ladies. I should be getting up...

Sore throat and cough still here now accompanied by a bad tummy - and I'm supposed to be travelling to sheffield later!

I've noticed that the hair on my legs and bikini line are growing faster - I may just give up and let it grow!

Hope everyone feels better and has a good day x
