Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
icklekid · 05/02/2014 15:21

talulah totally relate to the guilt but it will all be worth it in the end.

I hate to think what a pile of things will have built up over the last 2 weeks that I have been off...hopefully I will be back next week to try and scratch the surface before half term which I will probably now have to work through :(

I thought the weather was getting nicer after yesterday but it would seem that is not the case today.

Did make a good budget and check list using John Lewis site here www.johnlewis.com/inspiration-and-advice/family/archive/nursery-checklist to be fair did get rid of some of them as not needed but a good starting point never the less.

ellentullo · 05/02/2014 15:54

Thanks for the list link ickle - think I am going to start with the cheap stuff (muslin squares) and work up to car seat etc so as not to give myself palpitations.

Dh seems to be a bit of a snob about getting second hand stuff, but I reckon I can acquire a few things under the radar.

icklekid · 05/02/2014 16:56

I just find it easier to split the cost so not all expenses at the end of the pregnancy. Know what your dh means about 2nd hand but some things are ridiculous we got a moses basket and stand for £20 its beautiful and as new!

BlueC2 · 05/02/2014 17:02

Sorry been a bit AWOL recently-i have been reading though!

zing so sorry about your buyers-nesting causes all sorts of issues! Hope this weekend brings some good news!

Ips so sorry about your work-that's v tough to endure!

Another tricky though different work situ here-i went freelance after I'd finished mat leave wih DS as work and I couldn't agree on a part time return. It has worked well so far but I've only had 3 days work since the beginning of December which is starting to have a major impact financially as I need 8 days/m to make things work! All my work comes through one contact and I can't easily switch or add another contact and am starting to sound like a broken record when I ring or email to see what they've got so all getting a bit awkward! To make matters worse we really need to be saving for me to have at least a few months mat leave with this DC! All pretty stressful at the moment and leaves me feeling pretty down!

On the plus side of things I'm feeling more little kicks and have next scan on Valentine's day which will be a nice treat :)

Plateofcrumbs · 05/02/2014 18:31

Feeling for everyone having work related issues at the moment. On the other hand am losing patience again with my pregnant team member: today's complaint was claiming her risk assessment states she doesn't have to work overtime because she is pregnant. Umm, no - it says we will discuss implications of any excessive workload. Which means talk to me if you're having problems, but pregnancy is not your 'get out of jail free' card. Am I being a bit mean? I'm actually being sympathetic on the outside, it's just inside I'm giving her a withering look.

coco808 · 05/02/2014 20:39

sorry to hear so many are having a tough time Sad
I've not been able to sleep or relax for the last 4-5 days. Really stressed with some employees who have done a lot of "accidental" damage and don't want to be accountable!!! And they have been throwing lots of tears and tantrums...arrgghhh

liquidstate · 05/02/2014 21:25

Sorry for all those suffering work woes! I have worked two days since end of November, think I need to go back next week though. Fortunately I'll be off site work and report writing so can work from home.

Have been buying loads of stuff off ebay and local facebook selling page. Got a playpen this week, John Lewis solid wood retailed at £145 but I got for £20. Necessary as we have a dog. Looking for an electronic breast pump next.

We will hopefully be using DH's old cotbed Blush. Its solid oak and I think from Selfridges or Harrods. Havent seen it yet though but hoping it not too in 70's style. New mattress obviously Grin.

The only thing we are not buying is clothes, figure we will get enough of them at some stage. Unfortunately a lot of friends/family are pregnant or just had babies so there's not a lot of seconds to be passed or lent to me.

Ipsumlorem · 05/02/2014 21:34

blue I hope things improve soon and you get all the work you want/need coming in.

plate I'm probably the wrong person to ask (or the right one maybe!) Grin

After another hellish day I am feeling less than sympathetic to any work shy whiners pregnant or not so I def don't think you are being unreasonable by getting annoyed about it! It annoys me the idea of some pregnant women giving us all a bad name by just using it as an excuse to do what they want/slack off when some of us are genuinely struggling on with sickness/pain etc and feel so guilty about having a day off when we NEED it! Angry

Apparently my cover is working from home tomorrow I don't really know how as they don't actually have any work to take home yet while I go into the office to sort out work for them for Friday then drive back to the place we were at today (which is an hour from my office) to pick up some equipment they forgot which is also needed for Friday - roll on the weekend I say! Angry

Thanks to all the virtual sympathy givers and apologies for ranting on so much the last few days - just know you are probably all saving my marriage as I haven't had to rant nearly as much as I would normally to DH! Grin

dramajustfollowsme · 05/02/2014 21:37

I'm having a real nesting period at the moment. I want dd's new room sorted so I can organise baby stuff. I love making lists and have got lists of things to check from dd, things we definitely need to buy and a wish list!
Dh is extremely laid back and thinks there is no hurry but I went into labour at 34wks with dd. That is only 15 weeks away and I don't want a mad panic like last time.

icklekid · 06/02/2014 04:46

Oh dear lots of tricky work situations :-( maybe a countdown to maternity leave is required! blue hope you manage to get some more hours...

liquid that did make me laugh- I'm really hoping that your cot bed is quite special!

drama me too with the nesting - dh painted baby room yesterday after we stripped wood chip off and had new lining paper put up on Tue. I'm very impatient as want to get furniture in and tidy our guest room up. Just hoping I still like the colour when it's dry today...I'm so fussy about off white!

4.44 as I post this and been awake an hour- not too bad when I'm signed off but if this continues bext week I'm in trouble...

jaykay987 · 06/02/2014 06:02

So after four hours sleep Sunday, three Monday, and two Wednesday......I have just awoken from a blissful six hours!,!! GrinGrinGrinGrin I feel like Sleeping Beauty having been awoken by a deep deep sleep!!

I have a very intense day at work ahead, so glad I wasn't up at 3am again!

I'm also back now from what I am hoping was my last work visit a abroad. Fingers crossed!

I also wouldnt be able to stand lazy coworkers. I've already started to get irritated though as everyone keeps asking me if I'm ok. I'm starting to feel like an invalid. It's nice to be asked - but given the work currently piled on me, being pregnant isn't the thing on my agenda that might make me crack! Anyway, just trying to get on with it as quickly as possible.

Our next scan is valentines too. Can't wait. Hope I feel bigger movements soon. I've been feeling something for three weeks but still not certain and DH is desperate to feels one thing soon too!
Scarily - we also have a nursery visit before the scan. Freaky! Grin

Hope everyone has a good day!

mummytobejuly2014 · 06/02/2014 07:59

waiting for epu to open to ring at 8am (can't ring mw til 10am), got another bright red bleed :( no idea why. lots of back pain and "period" type cramps last night. had bleeds 2 and 3 weeks ago and midwife referred me to epu. almost 18wks now. dont like how this keeps happening and they cant explain why :(

Plateofcrumbs · 06/02/2014 08:30

Oh mummytobe hope everything is OK, I'm glad they are keeping an eye on you. Let us know how it goes, it sounds horribly stressful Thanks xx

ickle - I just want a countdown til my whiney team member goes on maternity leave Grin

Plateofcrumbs · 06/02/2014 08:36

And talking of valentine's day - our v-day tradition is to stay in and buy really good quality steak and bottle of red wine. I want rare steak and wine! Sad

icklekid · 06/02/2014 08:39

jay that's fab news lets hope the sleep continues!

mummy hope that it's nothing too serious.

Anyone had nose bleed before? Mine was awful this morning :-(

MrsB2013 · 06/02/2014 09:05

Mummy Hope everything is ok and you get seen to this morning

My next scan is on valentines day too!! I don't think I've felt movement yet, but I think he keeps changing position, as my belly feels hard on one side then later the other side.

I've hardly slept the last few nights, been up 5/6 times needing a wee :(

ZingSweetApple · 06/02/2014 09:34

mummy

let's hope it's nothing, fx for you & babyThanks

liquidstate · 06/02/2014 09:38

Yay for Valentines day scans! There are loads of us...

Mummy I do hope everything is ok. I have heard of people bleeding through the pregnancy so hopefully it will be fine.

Ickle have regular nosebleeds. Very unpleasant Sad

I think I may be well enough for work next week, going to be strange after so much time off but have been so bored at home. Todays highlight is going to Mothercare to collect my support belt.

ellentullo · 06/02/2014 09:53

Trouser crisis this morning. All my comfier/looser trousers are linen or cotton thus too cold for February. Jeans starting to feel uncomfortable.

Trip to H and M or similar ahoy I think

dramajustfollowsme · 06/02/2014 10:07

I've a valentines day scan too!
Mummy hope the bleed is nothing too serious.
Doctor has confirmed I have the flu despite having a flu jab. Confused Different strain, apparently. I am back in bed and dh has taken the day off to look after dd. I feel like shit. Sad

ZingSweetApple · 06/02/2014 10:09

we are having 20 week scan on the 27th - DH 's birthday.

mummytobejuly2014 · 06/02/2014 12:44

thanks everyone, booked in for 2pm. really long days in work the past few weeks and they are just dragging by as we're soo quiet. after abt 3hrs in theres nout to do but try to look busy at a desk without going online. nothing stressing me so these bleeds are totally unexplained. havent felt any flutters today or yday like I've been feeling since last week. hoping its all just baby keeping us on our toes. tesco had little short sleeve vests £1.50 down to 50p, pink flowery girls ones, grey elephants, white with multi colour stars, white with multi col cars and white with little ships. if all goes ok im heading back to get a couple. both genders at the mo, for 50p the other gender can be donated to the charity shop or my friend if she has the opposite to us :) trying to be positive

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 06/02/2014 14:23

Plate and ipsum, I completely agree. It's such a shame when people take advantage of maternity flexibility and mat-related leave, not least because the company gets irritated and then comes down harder on those of us that are honourable and play by the rules. But then a small minority abusing the rules will always ruin it for everyone else.

I'm hoping to do some decorating next week too, and off-white sounds about right. I'm tossing up what to buy second hand as we're really lucky in that lots of friends are giving us hand-me-downs. I'm struggling to find a cot I like though. And I think I'll forgo the changing table for a chest of drawers with a mat on top.

Scan on Saturday and enormously excited. For whoever it was that was worried about bleedint, I'm sure it'll be fine. I've bled intermittently (bright red) all the way through so far and the baby is fine. Scary though isn't it?

icklekid · 06/02/2014 14:26

My scan is on the 17th just really hoping all is ok, feels odd that it may be the last time we will see baby before birth!

drama sorry to hear about the flu make sure you rest and get plenty of fluids

ellen I'm the same jeans are tight and tried a skirt on but it would make do up :-( this bump is getting bigger by the day I'm sure!

Any news mummy?

dramajustfollowsme · 06/02/2014 14:45

Yes, I wouldn't bother with a changing table. Dd got to about 4 months and was rolling around so much that changing her up high was quite dangerous. We from that point always used a mat on the floor.
Dd thankful like the colour of her new room but it needs a new carpet and furniture.
At the moment, it is a dumping ground for things that don't have a place! There is a bed but it is a divan so quite high so we need a smaller bed.
The cot bed will revert to a cot again.
