Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

Ipsum you poor thing feeling so rough and having to work. I've also got three hrs each way tomorrow for meetings but was able to work from home today so at least after tomorrow we're nearly halfway through the week...

icklekid · 03/02/2014 20:28

auntie glad I'm not sure the only one!

drama don't go in and don't let them pressure you- I'm an assistant head and know from experience rushing people back (or when they want to rush back!) They are off for longer. Wait until you are well!

Ipsum always have a sick bag in the car just incase :-( jealous of the early night. Invited a friend over because dh is going to hers to watch football with her dh but shes not here yet and I'm tired :-(

Ipsumlorem · 03/02/2014 20:28

Thanks MrsA - that's a comforting thought at least Smile

Good luck for your mammoth commute too!

Ipsumlorem · 03/02/2014 20:31

Ickle have just got settled in - going to indulge insome rubbish tv in the hope I'll have dozed off in about half an hour or so - like many of you I haven't been sleeping great either.

I hope you get a lovely, unbroken night's sleep when you do finally get to turn in Wink

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 03/02/2014 20:34

Sorry zing that's not good news. Hmm Any idea why they pulled out in case that might give you an idea of future buyers being put off or pulling out?

My highly optimistic midwife tried listening for the heartbeat at 9, 13 and 17 weeks! We didn't hear anything until 17 weeks and she made it clear before all attempts that it was just a try and wouldn't necessarily find anything so no panic.

jaykay hope you have a nice time in France, even if it is for work! Watch out for the cheese - there are lots of hard or semi-hard cheeses that aren't pasteurised. Hmm I'm importing pasteurised cheese from the UK for some variety.

I think I have decided on the new pushchair I'm getting. The petite star zia has almost died after a hammering that's included maybe 30 flights. So I think we'll replace it with a babyzen yoyo 0+ which is suitable from birth, weighs 6kg and folds to hand baggage size for the plane.

The Baby jogger summit XC all terrain jogging monster appears to be virtually indestructible and is still going strong despite a hammering through mud, beaches, mountains, jogging, snow. No one pushchair can meet our requirements of lightweight for frequent travel and tough enough for weekend activities so we have to have two!

I appear to have written an essay, and I'm on my phone, so I'll shut up now!

osinachi · 03/02/2014 23:14

Appt went well and you are right "mummy" am glad I went alone. It was over so quickly though i got to listen to baby's heartbeat which was the highlight.
Sorry to hear about the house "zing" . Am in the middle of remortgaging and it's stressful and seems never-ending so I can imagine how you feel.
Am off to try and sleep. Hope those who haven't been able to so far get a great refreshing night's sleep.:) Looking forward to 20weeks appt in March.

icklekid · 04/02/2014 04:46

Well 4.30 is better than 3.30 but can't count as a good nights sleep :-( totally bunged up as well as if I needed more :-(

osinachi glad appointment went well

foxtrot seriously craving cheese preferably french brie right now...thanks!

liquidstate · 04/02/2014 04:54

Can I join you in the wide awake club ickle? also bunged up. have very sore throat so am eating icelollies on the sofa under a duvet with a hot water bottle Confused

Educating my bean with the BBC Philharmonic orchestra on BBC2. It liked Fingals cave very much, and I am enjoying the dishy conductor Grin.

ZingSweetApple · 04/02/2014 04:58

thanks all - feeling sorry for me did help!Grin

foxtrot

she is due in May and was just to anxious to move - they found a place last Friday that's no chain (they are first time buyers) and ready to move in.
I do understand and I guess I'm grateful they didn't tell us on Friday - that would've ruined our weekend.

it will be fine. according to EA buyers are looking intensly in this area, he has 5 people lined up for viewing on Saturday and suggested to put house back on for 15k more (expecting potential buyers to offer above that!Shock ) so we might be better off financially.
that would actually soothe the sting - I'm thinking "free" jacuzzi in the new garden?Wink

thankfully our sellers only started looking a couple of weeks ago, so no rush.
It should be ok.

thanks again all of you!Smile

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 04/02/2014 06:13

Good morning to the early risers! Grin (Sorry is that too enthusiastic, particularly for the reluctant insomniacs?) just having a quiet breakfast before dashing off to work. DH is getting DS up. Smile

Zing, sounds positive from the EA! Sending positive vibes to you and potential viewers. It makes me realise how lucky we were when buying our house - we were in rented so able to move any time and we bought off people who were moving into rented, so no chains.

Hope everyone has a good day today. Any midwife appointments today?

jaykay987 · 04/02/2014 06:49

Zing - sounds promising. Hopefully it will all be sorted by next weekend! Grin

Foxtrot - I am being super painful! Dinner last night with colleagues was embarrassing - met they french team for the first time and I definitely didn't impress. I refused the wine and then despite a a very small menu - consisting mostly of seafood dishes - I picked the non-recommended club sandwich and fries! So uncouth! Grin

I was hoping the hour time difference would at least mean I woke at 4am, rather than 3am. But no. 2.45am local time I was wide awake. Urgh! No idea how I will survive today! Smile

icklekid · 04/02/2014 07:01

liquid that sounds better than hours wasted on mumsnet or random pregnancy blogs!

zing good news and if you get more theb definitely worth it think of the ridiculous luxury items you could purchase or less of a mortgage...either way!

jay I would have been worse so don't blame you but gutted about the early start!

Reluctant insomniacs I like that!

Plateofcrumbs · 04/02/2014 08:30

Fingers crossed it all works out on the house front Zing. Buying and selling is just such an unknown. Buying our first flat was one of the most fraught experiences of my life, but buying our new house was a comparative breeze. If your sellers have just started looking hopefully finding new buyers shouldn't hold things up too much. I don't know where you live but round our way the market has gone barmy (our house is now worth 25% more than we bought it for 9 months ago!) so hopefully it'll work in your favour.

Ipsumlorem · 04/02/2014 13:02

Grrrrrrrrr just need a moment to rant or I'm going to explode. Angry Have to spend all day today and tomorrow with the person covering some of my duties while I'm pregnant and possibly on maternity leave - showing them the ropes etc which is fine - except they are literally complaining about everything they have been asked to do so far. I must be a complete mug because I have actually made their job very easy compared to how it is for me when I have to do it (sorted logistics etc and handed it to them on a plate) yet it is still too much to ask/every little thing needs questioned. Honestly feel like saying just get on with it you are getting paid well to do it and it is experience that quite frankly would help your cv but I'm not that nasty in real life Blush

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Angry

And to top it off I'm sitting 3 hours from home, freezing my ass off, with my sick basin in tow, watching them make a pigs ear of the little they have been asked to do today - I am thoroughly pissed off and feel sick Sad

Will get a catch up read later but hope everyone is ok today.

elliejjtiny · 04/02/2014 14:26

Just having a quick catch up before the school run. Still exhausted, still nauseous (although the actual puking may be going fingers crossed), still having nightmares. Midwife appointment on Friday.

zing so sorry about the house but hopefully you will be better off in the long run.

re age I'm 31 so probably in the middle. I was a young mum first time round though Smile.

ipsum that sounds so frustrating.

re pregnancy rage oh yes. DH is lucky to be alive with the mood I'm in and DS2's teaching assistant was treading a very fine line yesterday too.

18+3

NancyinCali · 04/02/2014 16:19

Morning, I'm having a lie-in as DH got dd up and ready for nursery today. Have midwife appointment in 40 mins though so need to move!

Fingers crossed for a new buyer soon zing.

NancyinCali · 04/02/2014 17:37

Heard baby girl's heartbeat at my appointment. GrinGrin Back for scan in three weeks (I'll be 18 weeks then). They seem to do everything earlier here!

talulahbelle · 04/02/2014 17:55

1 weeks until my midwife appointment and hopefully a chance to hear babies heartbeat. I still don't really have a bump, just look like I've eaten a big dinner, so proof there's something there will be good.

Today though I'm mainly feeling ill, I have a sore throat and horrible white spots on one of my tonsils. Cancelled going to my (pre-paid) pilates session tonight, but just don't feel up to it. I may call in sick to work tomorrow also if I don't feel better, as lemsip is out of the question.

OP posts:
icklekid · 04/02/2014 20:07

So sick still :-( I officially give up have had enough of being sick and now my back is agony!

nancy glad it went well

talulah ohh tonsillitis is horrible hope you feel a bit better.

Oh booked myself onto pregnancy pilates starting in a few weeks hoping I don't feel out of place

oo00PIXIE00oo · 04/02/2014 20:12

16w appointment today and heard a strong 155bpm heartbeat :) baby is very low though - does this mean anything???

20w scan due 5th march - can't wait :) x

ismarah · 04/02/2014 21:10

Boo. Just realised my 20w scan isn't until the 24th and I'm already 18+1 today. It's only really a week longer but dammit I don't want to wait. Boo.

talulahbelle · 05/02/2014 07:40

Off work and feeling the guilt - DH very sensibly said I need to put myself first for once, but I'm so used to struggling in. And I think as this absence is non pregnancy related it will now be enough to trip work absence procedures (no more than 4 days/3 instances a year) so a lovely return to work interview to look forward to as well.

On the positive side, I swear I felt a tiny flutter last night, I'm 15+4 so pretty early but not impossible? Nothing since though.

OP posts:
Ipsumlorem · 05/02/2014 12:15

Don't feel bad talulah. I understand feeling guilty and I have too in the past few weeks/on the occasions I've been off but you are growing a person (!) and apparently it is a little trickier side effects wise for some of us to deal with than others. I'm coming to realise that a job is only a job at the end of the day.

Having said that I'm on day 3 of hell week at work today and nearly wish I was off sick again - I'm actually going to murder someone if I have to spend much more time with this person today Angry How is it possible to STILL have stuff to moan about after yesterday and stop sniping at me just because you don't want to be doing the mucky parts of this job - you signed on the dotted line to do it - not my fault you have no work ethic at all and just clearly wanted the money! Angry

Seriously I'm stuck here for ages yet - I feel like crying Sad

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 05/02/2014 14:22

Ipsum Lazy workers are irritating aren't they? One of my friends told me that the ideal mat cover person is one who does your job well enough that it's not a mess when you come back, but one that nobody likes so they aren't preferred to you! I would just document all of our discussions, ccing my manager so they can see I'm handing over. Then just sit back.

Why are you handing over so early? Are you going off soon? Because if you've still got three or four months to go, wouldn't it make more sense for you to hand over later?

Ipsumlorem · 05/02/2014 14:33

Yes indeed homeis -its really frustrating! I'm not off til June but there are certain aspects of my job that I am unable to do while pregnant so this person has to take on those duties now and then cover the lot come June iykwim? I'm just so used to doing whatever hours/spending whatever time I need to to make something work that it frustrates me that not everyone is like that Sad
