Didn't see one started, as our last thread looks full. Let's hope we are all kicking the early pregnancy sickness and starting to glow :)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

With DD1, when I was still in the UK, I had to ask my midwife if she'd listen for her heartbeat at the 16 week appointment, I don't think she would have otherwise.

I've got my next appointment with my MW next week (I'll be 15 weeks) and I'm pretty sure she'll listen for it. Mind you they also do the "20 week" scan any time from 16 weeks here too.

icklekid · 27/01/2014 06:23

My midwife didn't either she said they would at next appointment (25 weeks)

Woke up today with severe lower back pain. I guess I must have slept funny but can't move without being in agony...work could be fun!

MrsB2013 · 27/01/2014 08:19

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Good luck to those with MW appointments today!

I've got my gender scan today!!! So excited, can't wait to find out if it's pink or blue!!! (I'm convinced it's blue)

eeyore2911 · 27/01/2014 08:35

Ooh good luck mrsB and let us know the flavour later!Grin

Jeezaloo · 27/01/2014 09:38

Just checking in and marking place after a long time absence. Had the first scan and all good, so updating my due date to 23 July.

elliejjtiny · 27/01/2014 11:50

Good luck for the scan mrsB. Is that the 20 week scan or a private one?

re listening to heartbeat my midwife did at 16 weeks with DS1 and 2 but not with 3 and 4 as the guidelines had changed.

re tv currently watching breaking bad with DH which I love but gives me nightmares and glee during the day when I'm feeding DS4. It's quite handy as DS4 takes the same time as an episode of something to feed and burp Smile.

Has everyone else gone public yet? Just wondering as I haven't, just told PIL, BIL and SIL. DH is nagging me to tell the rest of his family and the dc's but I'd rather not. Mostly because DS1 will tell everyone who stands still long enough. It's different for DH though, people will just congratulate him on his ninja sperm. With me it will be all "how will you cope with 5 DC's?" and horror stories about scars rupturing. I know I can't avoid telling people forever but I want to wait until I've seen the consultant and had the anomaly scan at least.

ZingSweetApple · 27/01/2014 12:13

MrsB

and? pink or blue?

ZingSweetApple · 27/01/2014 12:20

ellie

yes, I told kids last week they can tell anyone they want (they'd kniwn since Christmas Eve) - so the first school mum stopped me this morning to congratulate.
it was nice!Smile

DH is waiting to tell his colleagues - he is waiting for his salary raise and bonus signed then will break the news.

had a nose bleed again last night and I'm still feeling sick Confused - 16 weeks tomorrow.

It wouldn't bother me too much, but I'm just useless at the moment. I feel like a very bad mum and wife - I do as little as possible and DH had to take over.
it makes me feel guilty because he had a horrid week himself but not much rest at the weekend to recharge. Sad
(he is brilliant and understanding. he is a good'unSmile )

icklekid · 27/01/2014 12:37

Well woke up with excruciating lower back pain went to the doctors and he said it was muscular so just paracetamol and rest so at home lying down trying to ignore the agony :( just hope it goes away soon...

fifi669 · 27/01/2014 13:32

All those siting to hear the heartbeat, I bought a angelsounds home Doppler for £20. Works really well for this one and DS before. Don't bother with the gel, just use any oily substance.

It can take a while to find the heartbeat but you'll be able to hear baby swishing about too. Their heartbeat will be a lot faster than yours.

ZingSweetApple · 27/01/2014 13:32

ickle

ouch!
if it is muscular I suggest wait a few days, if not better osteopath can help.
do try and move around a bit tomorrow so your muscles get moving instead of seizing up.

Plateofcrumbs · 27/01/2014 13:45

Jealous of MrsB finding out the gender - my DH is not so keen. The gender is 'on file' as they check as part of the CVS, so am hoping he can be persuaded. I don't actually want to know yet but I think I'd like to know sometime before the birth.

LaDay · 27/01/2014 14:04

Aw gawd....

DS1 has chicken pox, with a temp so high he was struggling to breathe. Went to GPs ( stopping car twice on way and once on way back to be sick as i still have that joyous pregancy symptom) and he has a previously undetected heart issue that is causing complications with his infection. So instead of my heartbeat testing tomorrow we are at home...mw has no further appointment spots for three weeks(!)

MIL in for major surgery next week so DH off with her...

It never rains chaps, does it?!

ZingSweetApple · 27/01/2014 14:10

LaDay

Shock oh my world, poor him and how scary!
good it's detected now though.

sorry you'll miss your app, but people always do and there might be a spot sooner - just have to bother them a bit!

Thanks
LaDay · 27/01/2014 14:28

Good plan zing ...although I am not too worried as can feel some movements and no "bad symptoms" for me at the mo...to be honest DS1/MIL are priority.

And having DS1 at home, all spotty but adorably cute snuggled under his duvet, makes me feel that somehow everything will be ok, somehow...

icklekid · 27/01/2014 15:19

Thanks zing really struggled to concentrate at work even though INSET day so could just sit. Tomorrow is a different story- primary school teacher so not moving could prove difficult. May have to stay at home but will try and do gentle stretches- doctor seemed to think it was muscular.

Hope DS is ok laday and feels better soon. Friends have just had chicken pox one after the other with their children and whilst frustrating and hard to watch better for them to have it when young.

fifi I would love a doppler but know that I would worry if couldn't find heart beat etc...

mummytobejuly2014 · 27/01/2014 15:44

got to hear heartbeat today :) 130-152 does anyone have any gender predictions from that?
mrsb have you any news for us?
ickle just take it easy, use it as a wee sneaky reason to be waited on hand and foot :)
laday sounds like you're having a terrible run of it, lots of virtual hugs being sent your way xo

LaDay · 27/01/2014 16:20

Bless you all thank you! It's hard trying to juggle at the moment...

mummy I get the feeling you are having a girl...
But then I have been 100% wrong with my own predictions to date :-)

ickle just take care of you as much as you can...think we are forgetting that we need tlc sometimes!

KitKatChick · 27/01/2014 18:33

Finally told work today. My manager looked quite OK about it just a bit confused as I'm the only girl in the team so he's not dealt with this before. I'm sure he'll soon figure out what the processes are.

My morning sickness is getting worse if anything and there's me waiting for the glow...

Hope this week goes quickly for everyone and we'll all be glowing soon!

MrsB2013 · 27/01/2014 18:53

It's a BOY!!!!!!!!!

Scan went really well today, ended up with 19 photo's and some of them in 3D!!! She had a good look at baby and said everything was fine and we listened to the heartbeat and could see it on the graph thing. He was quite shy and kept hiding his bits, but she said she's 100% sure he's a boy!

Ellie I had a private scan as too impatient to wait for 20 weeks!

If anyone is interested I went to Baby Bond, would highly recommend:

mummytobejuly2014 · 27/01/2014 18:56

exciting mrsb, did you have an idea before you went? I keep saying He but secretly want a She :s

MrsB2013 · 27/01/2014 19:06

I've said it was a boy from the start!! I'm happy as long as it's healthy!

Awww MrsB that's lovely...lots of blue Smile

sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time LaDay! Chicken pox is one thing that scares me a lot as I never had it and my immunity against it is quite low. Hang in there. I'm sure your DS will recover soon and your MIL's op will go well

ouch ickle!! take it easy...hope you recover soon

AuntieMaggie · 27/01/2014 21:09

Take it easy ickle better to rest up now than still be suffering further into the pregnancy. I sprained my ankle at the start of Dec and I'm still having trouble with it (which is making me really cross as I can't exercise!)

MrsB yay for a boy. I have no inkling what I'm having - DP keeps veering towards a girl but I'm too cautious to go one way or the other!

laday hope things get better for you

zing in the mornings and if I sit too long in one position my stomach is really uncomfortable when I then move - is that normal?
