OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry to disprove the theory Frankel but when I had DS he was fully engaged by 32 weeks, arrived at 40. I'd presumed that his early engagement meant he would be early but midwife at the time said there's no correlation. Am 38 weeks now with DC2 and this time I've only just fully engaged, although I know that second babies can pop in and out.

Woke up last night with pains, that have now vanished again. It's been 2 weeks of this, am so sick of pregnancy now!!!

PainAuxRaisins · 21/02/2014 13:47

Good luck Orange and congrats Wuxi. Both names are nice - not surprised you're finding it hard to decide. Emma is a nice name too - timeless. If only naming boys was as easy as naming girls!

PainAuxRaisins · 21/02/2014 13:51

Midnight - had no signs or twinges whatsoever with 1st labour. Waters broke at 38wks and she was out 6 hrs later. To say I was in shock for a few days is an understatement (thought I had a good few weeks left as everyone told me 1st babies are always late!)

OwlinaTree · 21/02/2014 13:59

Lovely names wuxi.

Scan went well, it's a big baby! I've got to go and have the diabetes test next week (boo).

Section is booked too, but my money is on the baby coming earlier. Sonographer said the head was 40 weeks!!

Yogibear72 · 21/02/2014 14:09

Congratulations wuxi Thanks
Both lovely names. Would be on my short list for a girl. Good luck deciding!

The 2/5th or 4/5th thing is confusing Confused
I have been told I'm 2/5th and about as far as the baby will get before they come out. That was 3 weeks and 2days ago. Lots of Braxton hicks teasing but no baby yet. 39 weeks on Monday.
Any thoughts on acupuncture for bringing on labour?

Day 11 of mat leave - dropped OH into work, after he left his car there (irresponsible drunken night out), food shopping, now back on the sofa watching the curling final - come on team GB!

mrsmugoo · 21/02/2014 14:10

Just got back from presentation scan.... naughty baby is extended breech :(

Consultant appt on Tuesday morning - hoping I'm suitable for an ECV but the baby's bottom is quite far down in my pelvis so not entirely sure what that means for turning.

I'm just happy to know for sure as it's been suspected breech for so long.

baby happy and healthy though - just comfy with it's bottom at the bottom!

mrsmugoo · 21/02/2014 14:12

Also now planted on the sofa watching the curling with a cuppa - exhausted after all this to-ing and fro-ing today!

commsgirl · 21/02/2014 15:03

At least you can get a plan in place now mrs

I'm trying not to get impatient as I know I've still got a whole to go but I just want to meet my baby now! Looking forward to finally being on mat leave though. I've also got an antenatal visit from the health visitor. Has anyone else had one of those?

mrsmugoo · 21/02/2014 16:06

Yeah I'm a lot more chilled about it than I thought I would be. I think it was the not knowing that was stressing me out!

Any news from Commsgirl on her scan today?

mrsmugoo · 21/02/2014 16:07

Sorry meant Owlina.... but actually I just read she's having a C Section. baby brain!

commsgirl · 21/02/2014 16:08

Head down for me. I was really shocked because I'd convinced myself she was breech. The not knowing was really stressing me out too!

mrsmugoo · 21/02/2014 16:24

Ahhh I'm so glad for you!

IceNoSlice · 21/02/2014 17:19

Good news comms

At least you know mrs and can go from here. What are the success chances for ECV?

EmFlat · 21/02/2014 17:49

Hey Comms, I've just had my HV visit! All mums in this area are offered them - just a chat to confirm family/personal health/background, explain about how things work once baby's born, discuss feeding choices, etc. Was nice to meet her, actually Grin

Can't believe so many Martian babies are here already! I'm 3 weeks off due date but would be content if Junior decided to arrive now... am pooped, full of entertaining new aches & pains. None of which are labour-related, sadly Wink

Sending un-Mumsnet-ty hugs to all xxx.

Ps Emma's a good name Wink

Pps Benedict or Benjamin? Or just Ben? Pretty sure we're down to a favourite name (finally) WinkWink

mrsmugoo · 21/02/2014 17:52

IceNoSlice The leaflet they gave me says 4/10 however because this one is actually partially engaged in my pelvis, I'm not sure if that makes it harder/less chance of success. All will be revealed on Tuesday. I think I'm getting my head around a planned C section now and it wouldn't be the absolute end of the world like I thought it would be.

IceNoSlice · 21/02/2014 18:24

mrs I had EMCS last time and it really wasn't so bad - recovery etc was pretty straightforward and supposed to be better for elective. Best of luck that you get the outcome you want on Tuesday.

commsgirl · 21/02/2014 18:49

mrs I've heard lots of positive ELCS stories if that's the route you decide/need to go down.

Em Benjamin was our boy name. Also love Benedict but not as much.

lumpylumps · 21/02/2014 19:06

Hi. Haven't posted for a while. Another Martian baby out here!! Noah Thomas was born yesterday after a nice induction and quick labour. I was induced at 38 weeks because of spd!

commsgirl · 21/02/2014 19:21

Congratulations lumpy! What a lovely name. Hope the SPD disappears for you now. Thanks

mrsmugoo · 21/02/2014 19:24

Ahh congrats lumpy and thanks for all the support re: ELCS. Will keep posted after Tuesday.

IceNoSlice · 21/02/2014 19:38

Em I like Ben a lot. I'd personally go for Benjamin though - or be prepared to say "No, not named after Benefict Cumberbatch" a lot!

EmFlat · 21/02/2014 20:10

Congratulations Lumpy! Thanks

Hm, I'd definitely say that if I wasn't actually a smidge fond of Mr Cumberbatch, Ice Wink heheh. And blimey, Comms, that's cool! Good taste, obvs.

Flumpinblues · 21/02/2014 21:07

Evening all. Congrats Wuxi! Lovely day to be born as well :)

MrsM, have taken inspiration from you and ordered fresh new maternity outfit for coming home. Plus some new bits to finish off my hospital bag.

4 working days til Maternity leave here. Bump has dropped massively - 37 weeks. And ELCS planned for 12 March (although I think it may be sooner). Still undecided on name for pink bump, Lauren, Olivia, Alexandra still on the shortlist...

How is everyone sleeping? I'm huge now, really getting uncomfortable and heartburn is back too. Luckily cold gone. Might attempt swimming tomorrow. Have a lovely weekend all .

Flumpinblues · 21/02/2014 21:08

Oh sorry congrats lumpy too :)

OwlinaTree · 21/02/2014 21:39

Congrats lumpy! What a lovely name x
